Following the launch of the new Galaxy Z series at the Galaxy Unpacked event in London, Samsung leaders engaged with media from Southeast Asia and Oceania, sharing insights about how AI is evolving from a technology that people experiment with into one that is woven into everyday life.

Won-Joon Choi, President and COO of Samsung Electronics’ Mobile eXperience (MX) Business and Head of R&D Office, CU Kim, President & CEO of Samsung Electronics Southeast Asia and Oceania, and Carl Nordenberg, VP & Regional Head of the Mobile eXperience Business for Southeast Asia and Oceania discussed changing consumer expectations in the region and what comes next for mobile AI experiences.

As Samsung introduced an all-new form factor this year, CU Kim revealed that sales of the Galaxy Z7 Series have increased by almost 15% year-on-year compared with the previous generation, indicating growing consumer interest in foldable experiences across Southeast Asia and Oceania.

Highlighting the region’s growing adoption of AI, CU Kim shared that AI usage among Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 users in Southeast Asia and Oceania has increased from 84% in August 2025 to 96% in June 2026[1]. He noted that consumers often utilise AI for practical daily tasks, with Circle to Search, Now Brief and Photo Assist among the most frequently used features.

CU Kim, President & CEO, Samsung Electronics Southeast Asia and Oceania

CU Kim said “The next phase of AI will not be about more features. It is about relevance”, emphasising that as AI works across the various Galaxy mobile devices and other Samsung appliances and screens, it will be able to better understand user needs and become more helpful and personalised over time.

Galaxy AI also currently supports 22 languages, including Filipino, Indonesian, Thai and Vietnamese, reflecting Samsung’s commitment to delivering localised experiences for consumers across this diverse region.

The session explored how AI is changing the way people interact with their mobile devices as well, with CU Kim reiterating that in this region, mobile phones are the primary gateway to AI.

When discussing the future of mobile AI, Won-Joon Choi highlighted that the value of AI will be determined by how well it can remove friction in the background while giving users greater flexibility and choice.

“From a consumer’s perspective, there is no single AI that’s right for everyone. We want users to have the flexibility to use the right one at the right time, and that’s why we’re building Galaxy AI as a platform, with multiple AI agents working together to deliver the most seamless experience,” he added.

Building on the foundation established with the Galaxy S26 series, the Galaxy Z8 series and One UI 9 will provide an enhanced agentic AI experience through deeper system-level integration and more intuitive user controls. With multiple agents working seamlessly across apps, services, and device features, users will enjoy greater flexibility and choices for how they interact with AI.

Looking ahead, Won-Joon Choi shares that Samsung’s foldable portfolio is evolving to meet more lifestyles and needs. “Since we launched this category in 2019, we’ve studied closely how consumers interact with their foldables. Our broader, more diverse portfolio lets us better meet each user’s needs, and we are excited about what that will bring to Southeast Asia and Oceania,” he said. The Galaxy Z8 series will give users more ways to experience AI across productivity, content, creation and self-expression.

Through this 8th generation of foldables, Samsung is moving the category into its next chapter, one where foldables are no longer a niche choice, but a mainstream mobile experience that more consumers can confidently choose as part of their everyday lives.

As consumers in the region await the arrival of the new line-up, Galaxy Z8 Series will be available in Australia on 14 August.

At Galaxy Unpacked 2026 in London, Samsung Electronics set out its vision for the next chapter of digital health – a future where care moves from reactive treatment toward preventive, personalised and connected experiences, supported by trusted health innovation and partnerships across the healthcare ecosystem.

To explore that vision, Samsung hosted a Health Forum panel, “Rewriting the Rules of Preventive Health.” Moderated by Dr. Hon Pak, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Health Team, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, the session brought together leaders across nutrition, fitness, clinical research and AI to examine how technology can close the gap between knowing and doing in everyday health.

[PHOTO] (From left) Otávio Penatti, Kevin Duffy, Moderator Dr. Hon Pak. Rohit Ail, Kartik

The Paradox — and the “Missing Miles” of Health

Opening the discussion, Dr. Pak described a paradox at the heart of modern health: innovation and technology today has been transformational and accelerating, yet chronic disease continues to rise around the world.

“We live in the most measured era in human history — billions of people track their sleep, their stress, their heart rate every single day. And yet chronic disease keeps rising. More data, it turns out, hasn’t resulted in better health.”

He framed the disconnect as two “missing miles.” The first mile is detection and monitoring: much of what shapes our health happens outside the clinic, and until recently, continuous monitoring was neither available nor connected to the physician. The last mile is action: even after a diagnosis and a care plan, it is the individual who has to act day after day — and life is busy, and change is hard.

[PHOTO] Dr. Hon Pak

Samsung, Dr. Pak argued, is uniquely positioned to close both gaps. With technology that stays with people throughout their daily lives — across wearables, mobile phones, and a connected ecosystem — Samsung can understand not just raw biometric numbers, but the context behind them.

“We don’t just see a number — we see what’s around it: whether this is a moment you’re ready to change something, or a moment you need a bit of support. Being there, at the point where personal decisions actually get made, is hard for a hospital, or any other company, to measure or act upon.”

But no single company can do this alone. That, he said, is why Samsung is building Connected Care together with partners — closing the first and last mile to scale prevention, with AI as the enabler across both. He introduced the three focus areas that would structure the conversation: everyday behaviour; clinical credibility and privacy; and advanced AI and research.

Everyday Behaviour: Closing the Last Mile at the Dinner Table and the Gym

Diet and exercise are two of the biggest levers on long-term health — and two of the most within our control. They are also, Dr. Pak noted, where the gap between knowing and doing is widest.

Kartik Poria, Head of Product at Samsung Food, located that gap in a moment everyone recognises.

“It’s Tuesday, six o’clock. You’re tired, you’re staring into the fridge, and everything you know about eating well loses to whatever’s quickest. That moment is what we’re going after — because what you eat, day after day, is one of the biggest levers we have on preventing chronic disease.”

He described how Samsung Health and Samsung Food are coming together to tackle two halves of the same problem: Samsung Health surfaces what is happening beneath the surface — indicators such as BMI, the Antioxidant Index and the AGEs Index[1] — while Samsung Food’s global recipe library facilitates meal planning and its food intelligence reflect how people actually like to eat. Sitting on top is a nutrition experience grounded in behaviour change science rather than tracking alone — learning a person’s habits and working with them so the healthier pattern becomes the easier one.

“We’re not adding another thing to manage — we’re making the healthy choice the easy one, for the night you’ve got the energy to cook and the night you don’t.”

[PHOTO] Kartik Poria from Samsung Food

Turning to movement, Kevin Duffy, CEO of iFIT, described exercise as foundational to both physical and mental wellbeing, and explained how iFIT’s expert-led programs are becoming more accessible through Samsung Health.

“Exercise is vital for both physical and mental wellbeing — cardiovascular health, strength, mobility, sleep quality, stress management.”

Through Samsung Health, users can discover and subscribe to iFIT’s premium fitness programs, while iFIT workouts integrate with Galaxy Watch so users can track key metrics during guided sessions. With Fitness Index[2], they receive a holistic view of their physical fitness in a single, easy-to-understand score, with personalised recommendations. Looking ahead, Duffy pointed to Samsung’s Health Assistant as a way to bring a user’s Fitness Index, goals and activity history together to surface the most relevant workout at the right moment.

“Exercise is not just about being active — it’s about understanding your body, building sustainable habits, and having the right guidance at the right time. By combining iFIT’s expert-led experiences with Samsung Health’s connected insights, we can help more people make movement a meaningful part of their everyday lives.”

[PHOTO] Kevin Duffy from iFIT

But content and insights alone, Dr. Pak noted, don’t close the last mile. The harder question is how to move from engagement to activation. Samsung designs for real life, recognising that people slip and miss goals most of the time — and that those moments are precisely when timely, well-contextualised support matters most.

The real measure, he argued, is not how often the system nudges someone, but how many healthy actions actually happen — a doctor’s low-salt advice quietly showing up as items in a grocery cart, or a workout that meets a person where they actually are that day. Poria added that this is the true shift: from nudging people to changing the choice in front of them.

Clinical Credibility and Privacy: Trust Earned Through Evidence

Dr. Pak turned next to the question of trust — noting that wearable data is now something most clinicians have seen, but far fewer have been able to build into their day-to-day care. Closing that gap, he said, is a matter of evidence, workflow and trust.

Rohit Ail, Head of the Technology Incubation Lab at Samsung R&D Institute UK (SRUK), spoke to how his team works to generate clinical evidence in real-world settings.

“Our goal is to meet the standards expected by clinicians, researchers and regulatory bodies, and that means generating evidence in real-world clinical environments. This commitment builds on Samsung’s growing body of clinical research and validation evidence.”

He referenced ongoing collaborations across Europe, including partnerships with the NHS and clinical validation studies with leading hospitals. With San Cecilio University Hospital in Spain and Gemelli in Italy, Samsung is working on identifying and managing cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk using AI and decision-support technologies; with Fondazione IRCCS in Italy, the focus is on understanding and addressing the late effects faced by adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors through AI-based digital phenotyping and a non-invasive, holistic approach.

On privacy, Ail noted that Samsung considers user data to belong to the user, with Samsung acting as custodian.

“Trust begins with protecting users’ data. Samsung takes a three-layer approach: Samsung Knox for device-level security, GDPR-compliant infrastructure, and alignment with the European Health Data Space framework.”

He added that SRUK has also developed a Decentralised Clinical Trial framework, in which participant identities remain under the control of healthcare organisations and data is pseudonymised from the outset.

[PHOTO] Rohit Ail from Samsung R&D Institute UK

Advanced AI and Research: Reading the Body’s Signals

If everyday reach and clinical trust are two of the three pillars, intelligence is what binds them together. Dr. Pak introduced foundation models as a genuine turning point — a shift from population averages to something truly personal.

Otávio Penatti, Head of the Health AI R&D Team at Samsung R&D Institute Brazil (SRBR), explained what a foundation model for health actually means.

“A health foundation model is an AI model that uses self-supervised learning to learn meaningful features from unlabeled biosignal data. At Samsung, we are advancing health foundation model research across multiple global research teams, combining expertise in biosignal intelligence, wearable AI, and personalised health insights. Building on the success of large language models, we can now interpret body signals not as isolated data points, but as a structured biological language. These signals can be measured through wearable devices in everyday situations, and by applying foundation models to understand these biological patterns, we have the potential to provide continuous, personalised health insights.”

[PHOTO] Kevin Duffy from iFIT

Three Focus Areas, One Goal

To close, Dr. Pak asked each panelist for a one-sentence vision of Connected Care in the era of AI five years from now.

Kartik Poria (Samsung Food): “In five years, eating well won’t run on willpower — it’ll feel like having a chef and a dietitian in your pocket, turning what your body needs into what’s for dinner, day after day.”

Kevin Duffy (iFIT): “A coach that knows your body and adapts every workout to who you are that day.”

Rohit Ail (SRUK): “Care that clinicians trust and patients control — evidence-based and private by design.”

Otávio Penatti (SRBR): “AI that understands the body’s language and acts before problems begin.”

Dr. Pak closed by tying the threads together: everyday behaviour, clinical trust and personal AI — three focus areas, one goal of closing the first and last mile to scale prevention while meeting people where they are.

“The future of health is connected, trusted and proactive — and it’s a road we’re glad to be traveling together.”

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today unveiled the new Galaxy Z series, its most complete line-up yet, designed to expand foldables to a wider audience. The line-up introduces Galaxy Z Fold8, a fresh and exciting form factor that provides a new kind of foldable experience built around the way people explore, discover, and get immersed in their favourite content.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8 open a new chapter in foldables with three distinct experiences designed for Ultra productivity, immersive discovery and self-expression

The line-up also includes Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, which brings Galaxy’s renowned Ultra standard to foldables with maximum productivity and content creation in a larger workspace. Galaxy Z Flip8 — the sleekest one yet — was built for expression and quick interaction on the go. Built on seven generations of foldable innovation and consumer insight, the new Galaxy Z series gives users more choice than ever, with three distinct experiences engineered to fit different needs.

Galaxy AI[1] has been optimised for each of these form factors. Across the line-up, every insight feels more actionable and every action feels more connected. Multitasking is easier on the larger screens of Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Fold8 Ultra, while Z Flip8’s AI-native FlexWindow keeps relevant information and shortcuts within reach. And with partner AI experiences such as Gemini Intelligence, Galaxy gives users even more ways to get things done in fewer steps — with transparency, privacy and user control built in.[2]

“As AI becomes more agentic, mobile devices will become the most personal entry point to experiences that understand and adapt to each user,” said TM Roh, Chief Executive Officer, President and Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics. “By setting a new standard for foldables, we are once again advancing the premium mobile experience and opening the next era of intelligence to more people.”

The All-New Galaxy Z Fold8 — A New Galaxy Fold Experience for Everyday Immersion

Galaxy Z Fold8 is reimagined for users who want a foldable that feels natural in the moments when curiosity turns into deeper discovery. Galaxy Z Fold8 introduces a form factor designed to move easily from quick interactions on the cover screen to deeper viewing, reading and gaming on the main display. With intuitive display ratios and long-lasting performance, Galaxy Z Fold8 makes it easier to get the most out of the content, stories and ideas that matter.

Built for Discovery

Galaxy Z Fold8’s display ratios are designed around the way people naturally consume content throughout the day. By adapting the screen to the content, Galaxy Z Fold8 creates a more immersive experience whether users are browsing, watching, reading or gaming. At just 201g[3], Galaxy Z Fold8 is Samsung’s lightest Galaxy Z Fold yet[4]. Despite its lightweight design, it combines the Snapdragon® 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy[5] with a larger 4,800mAh battery,[6] delivering smooth, responsive performance and lasting power so users can stay immersed longer.[7]

When folded, the 10:16 cover screen feels familiar and comfortable for the short moments people return to most often, from messaging and social updates to browsing and short-form video.

When unfolded, the 4:3 main display creates a larger canvas that helps users lose themselves in games and films.

When rotated, the same display ratio becomes naturally suited to reading, giving users a more comfortable way to settle into articles, e-books and long-form content without carrying another device.

Together, these display ratios are designed around the way people naturally consume content, helping Galaxy Z Fold8 feel more immersive whether users are quickly checking in or settling in for longer sessions.

A Display Engineered from the Inside Out

Across the new Galaxy Z series, expert display engineering serves as the foundation for a more refined foldable experience, supporting slimmer designs, greater strength and more seamless viewing.

Samsung’s new Flex Titanium technology introduces a titanium-based display structure designed to help make foldables thinner while maintaining strength.

Samsung’s new Flex Titanium technology introduces a titanium-based display structure designed to make foldables thinner without compromising their strength. By combining a titanium alloy film with an enhanced titanium plate, Flex Titanium helps strengthen display support, absorb pressure and impact, and reduce crease visibility over time. This structure also refines the way the device opens, balancing hinge mechanics, display tension and magnetic force to make unfolding feel smoother, lighter and more natural.[8]

With up to 3,000 nits of brightness, the main screen stays vivid and easier to see even in outdoor settings.

A Clear and Versatile Camera Experience

Galaxy Z Fold8 is designed to help users capture and share the moments that catch their attention. Whether it’s a sweeping landscape, a group shot or a spontaneous moment on the move, Galaxy Z Fold8 makes everyday photography and video feel easier to capture, edit and share.

Galaxy Z Fold8’s Dual 50 MP cameras deliver consistent high-resolution detail across wide and ultra-wide perspectives

Dual 50MP cameras deliver consistent high-resolution detail across wide and ultra-wide perspectives, helping preserve image quality across different scenes and shooting conditions[9].

Dual Recording lets users capture both sides of the moment while previewing themselves through the cover screen, making reactions and shared experiences easier to frame.

My FanCam[10] automatically tracks a selected subject and reframes footage into a preferred aspect ratio, turning dynamic scenes into social-ready videos with less manual editing.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra — The Ultra Foldable Built for Maximum Productivity

Ultra represents Galaxy’s highest standard for performance, capability and innovation. With Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, that standard meets Samsung’s most advanced foldable design. Its expansive 8-inch main display[11] opens up a productive workspace for multitasking, while its advanced camera system and long-lasting battery help users create throughout the day[7]. All of this comes in Galaxy’s slimmest Z Fold design yet[12] — measuring just 4.1mm when unfolded and weighing 215g[3], it pushes the standard for productivity on the go.

Professional-Grade Creativity with an Ultra-Level Camera System

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is built to give creators more freedom from capture to edit, with an Ultra-level camera system and creative tools that make high-quality content easier to produce from one device.

A new 50MP ultra-wide camera brings greater detail and clarity to wider scenes and macro shots[12], giving users more flexibility when capturing landscapes, interiors, group shots and close-up details.

A New Class of Agentic Experiences Optimised for Foldables

As the most personal device people carry, the phone has become the primary entry point where AI meets users — and the new Galaxy Z series sets the tone for the next generation of mobile AI experiences. Galaxy AI now works across more apps and services, with experiences optimised for foldable form factors. By understanding what matters to each user and helping turn insights into action, Galaxy AI becomes more personal, proactive and useful throughout the day.

https://img.global.news.samsung.com/au/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/13.Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold8-Ultra-Fold8and-Flip8_Now-Nudge.mp4

Now Nudge helps turn insights into action. When plans begin to take shape in a conversation, AI can surface relevant next steps such as checking a schedule, finding a place or saving a location. On foldables, users can continue the conversation side by side on larger displays.

Now Brief[16] helps users stay informed with personalised insights tailored to their routines, interests and daily needs through expanded scenarios, customisable briefing cards and personalised recommendations. It now also surfaces security and privacy insights, helping users stay on top of potential risks and protective actions.

Now Nudge[17] helps turn insights into action. When plans begin to take shape in a conversation, AI can surface relevant next steps such as checking a schedule, finding a place or saving a location. On foldables, users can continue the conversation side by side on larger displays.

Gemini Intelligence[21] helps users move from request to result with fewer steps. Users can simply describe what they need or even add screen or image context. With Gemini Notebook, users can bring together notes, images, recordings, files and documents in one persistent workspace to help users collect, organise and develop their ideas. Drag-and-drop support in Split view makes the workflow even more intuitive, allowing users to easily add multiple files and images and turn their content into audio overviews, infographics, reports, meeting recaps, visual summaries, documents and more.

AI experiences become more connected and contextual when the new Galaxy Z series is connected with Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9. From wellness insights to daily routines and connected actions, Galaxy AI helps users move more seamlessly between devices with timely personalised support throughout the day.

Together, these experiences show how Galaxy AI is becoming a more capable and proactive companion, helping users accomplish more with less effort. Across the line-up, foldable form factors make these experiences easier to access throughout the day.

Security and Privacy Built Into the Experience

As AI becomes more personal and agentic, trust continues to be a critical foundation of the experience. Users need to know how their data is used, understand what AI is doing on their behalf and stay in control of the choices that shape their experience. With the new Galaxy Z series, Samsung builds that trust into the device from the start, helping to keep personal data secure while giving users transparency, choice, and control over how their information is used.

Samsung Knox protects every Galaxy device from the chip up, with a multi-layered approach that includes on-device personalisation, user-controlled cloud processing, as well as future-ready protections such as ecosystem-wide protection through Samsung Knox Matrix. For on-device AI, Personal Data Engine (PDE) enables context-aware, personalised AI experiences. To protect PDE, Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection creates encrypted, app-specific storage environments and Knox Vault adds a tamper-resistant physical layer for sensitive information[22]. These system level protections work together with Advanced Intelligence settings and Personal Data Intelligence to help users control how AI features manage and use personal data.

One UI 9.0 also introduces a new AI Assistant Activity dashboard. Instead of moving across multiple apps and services to understand what happened, users can review AI actions in one place and navigate directly to the relevant agent for additional context and settings. The new Galaxy Z series also brings enhanced Privacy Alerts that proactively notify users about potential privacy risks, including unnecessary attempts to access background permissions, helping them respond before those risks become invisible.

These updates build on Galaxy’s existing security and privacy portfolio which includes Auto Blocker, Theft Protection, Private Sharing, Secure Wi-Fi and more. Together, these advancements are designed to make AI not only more capable, but more understandable and controllable. By giving users greater transparency, clearer choices and strong protections, the new Galaxy Z series helps ensure that more personal AI experiences remain grounded in trust.

Across Southeast Asia and Oceania, consumers have been quick to embrace technology that makes everyday life simpler. From digital commerce and mobile payments to super apps and connected services, digital experiences are now integral to how people shop, communicate, work and manage daily life.

That same expectation is shaping how people approach artificial intelligence. As the world commemorates AI Appreciation Day this July, the shift is clear: AI is moving from experimentation into everyday use. In Southeast Asia and Oceania, where mobile-first lifestyles and digital adoption are among the highest in the world, people are beginning to expect AI to help them work, communicate, make decisions and move through daily life with greater ease.

The more embedded AI becomes in our lives, the more its value will be measured by how meaningfully it improves everyday experiences. The next phase of AI, which we will be unveiling at Unpacked on 22 July in London, will not be defined by technical capability alone, but by how naturally it fits into different lifestyles, understands individual needs and removes friction from daily routines.

From AI Tools to Connected Experiences

For years, technology evolved device by device. Each served a specific role: mobile phones for communication and productivity, wearables for health and activity insights, televisions for entertainment, and appliances for household routines.

Each device only supports one part of the user’s day. But when connected through AI, they can work together in ways that are more responsive to context and easier to act on.

SmartThings is central to making this possible. By bringing devices, services and partners into one connected ecosystem, it helps turn the intelligence offered by individual features into seamless experiences that are more natural and relevant in real-world scenarios.

Consider a young professional managing a fast-paced day, where even small decisions can add to the mental load. With AI Vision, our Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub can help track fresh produce and packaged goods[1], alert users[2] when frequently used items are running low, and make grocery planning easier.

That same support extends to well-being. SmartThings integrates with Samsung Health to provide insights through Galaxy devices like the Galaxy Ring, while Galaxy Watch features such as Running Coach can analyse running performance data and customise training programs for users working towards their fitness goals. And as the user unwinds after a long day by watching their favourite shows on TV, Samsung Vision AI extends intelligence to the screen, helping the TV adapt to viewer preferences and make entertainment easier to discover, personalise and enjoy.

Together, these experiences show the broader promise of AI: making daily life easier not through one device acting alone, but through an ecosystem that understands context and can offer personalised responses to people’s needs.

Mobile as the Primary Gateway

Although AI now connects more devices across daily life, mobile remains the primary gateway. The mobile phone links people to the services, content, devices and relationships they rely on daily.

This is where agentic AI becomes especially important. As intelligence grows more contextual, mobile devices are evolving from a tool people use to search, message and browse, into an interface that helps them understand what matters, suggests the next step and completes everyday actions with less effort.

Galaxy AI is designed for this next phase of mobile AI. Instead of asking users to manage every task manually, it surfaces suggestions for what comes next. Mobile AI becomes most useful when its intelligence is built directly into the device experience itself.

Consumers in Southeast Asia and Oceania welcome the benefits and recognise the potential of AI but their trust needs to be earned. To deeply embed AI into daily life, consumers must feel that their data stays safe and that they are in control. Galaxy AI is designed to help protect personal information by keeping sensitive data close to the user, while giving users clear visibility and choice over how their data is used to power AI experiences. As AI expands across the connected ecosystem, Samsung has also extended Knox Matrix, its cross-device security platform, to provide a unified layer of protection across home appliances, mobile devices and TVs.

We are still in the early stages of this transformation. With AI becoming more widespread in daily life, new form factors will shape how people see, use, and act on information. Foldables are an important part of that future. A screen that flexes and unfolds gives AI greater flexibility to support multiple tasks, richer content and more contextual experiences at once.

At the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked, we will share more on how this vision is coming together.

The next chapter of AI will not be defined by how much more technology people must manage. It will be defined by how naturally intelligence fits into everyday life, helping people live, work, and connect more easily.

[1] A Wi-Fi connection and Samsung account are required. If a food item is not recognisable, it may be listed as an unknown item. AI Vision cannot identify or list any food items in the freezer. Recognition uses AI models that may be updated periodically to help improve performance. User may need to manually check and adjust the list to ensure its accuracy.

[2] Available through the SmartThings app, available on Android and IOS devices. A Wi-Fi connection and Samsung account are required. Both devices must be signed in with the same Samsung account.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today unveiled new Flex Titanium technology for the next generation of Galaxy foldable devices. Built on seven generations of foldable innovation and engineering expertise, the redesigned display structure utilises structural and material advancements to deliver a more refined viewing experience with enhanced strength and reduced crease visibility. Made possible thanks to Samsung’s accumulated display know-how, Flex Titanium technology integrates two titanium-based components — a titanium-alloy film and a titanium plate — working together to balance slimness, flexibility and strength within the foldable display structure.

“Samsung’s strength in the foldable category comes from connecting user needs with our technologies that deliver tangible benefits in everyday life,” said Sunghoon Moon, EVP and Senior Executive, Mobile R&D Office – H/W, Samsung Electronics. “For the next generation of Galaxy foldables, Samsung is building on years of expertise to bring display innovations into devices that enhance user experiences, anchored by exceptional viewing experiences.”

Building on Years of Foldable Experience

Samsung has played a leading role in advancing mobile display innovation and bringing it to consumers at scale through mobile devices. This legacy includes the widespread adoption of AMOLED displays in 2007 and the evolution of displays into flexible form factors.

Innovative technologies can only reach their full potential and provide meaningful user experiences through continuous refinement in real-world conditions, and the foldable category is no exception. Across seven generations of Galaxy foldables, Samsung has listened closely to consumer feedback. This has given the company a deep understanding of what users expect from the category: larger, more immersive viewing experience with less visible crease — without compromising strength or portability.

To meet these expectations, Samsung had to rethink how foldable displays are constructed by bringing together breakthroughs in technology, materials and mechanical engineering. The result is the latest milestone in foldable display innovation: Flex Titanium technology. By successfully integrating display innovation with device engineering, Samsung will continue to shape the direction of the mobile industry and deliver standout user experiences.

Flex Titanium: Next-Level Viewing

To create a display that provides an immersive viewing experience while maintaining its ability to withstand everyday use, Samsung took a new approach to structural design. This required a material strong enough to withstand external environments, flexible enough to endure repeated folding and thin enough to fit within a refined device structure. Balancing all three factors was essential to advancing foldable displays — and titanium offered the right mix.

Known for its resilience and strength, titanium has been used in some of the most demanding applications, including satellite antennas and the wheels of a Mars rover. While its strength makes titanium a dependable material, it also presents significant engineering challenges when applied to the thin and flexible structure of a foldable display due to its stiffness. Drawing on its expertise, Samsung has integrated titanium into two key components: a titanium-alloy film and a titanium plate.

The titanium-alloy film is a component that supports the display from within, sitting below the OLED panel. A precision rolling process makes the material exceptionally thin enabling a slimmer display panel.

Below this sits a robust titanium plate, a flexible structure that supports the display module from beneath. It allows tighter bonding with the display module by eliminating air gaps between the module and the adhesive on the plate through advanced hole processing technology. This new structure helps provide more stable support underneath the display when unfolded while retaining the flexibility needed to accommodate repeated folding.

Furthermore, by integrating a high-resolution architecture and next-generation materials, the new display delivers ultra-vivid display resolution while helping to reduce power consumption — delivering a dramatic boost in overall power efficiency.

“By introducing sophisticated micro-patterned holes to the folding section of the titanium plate, we have successfully secured flexibility with robust durability,” said Kyung-Jin Yoo, EVP and Head of Mobile Display Product Development Team, Samsung Display. “Combining high-resolution display architecture with new materials that helps maximise power efficiency, we will further strengthen the competitiveness of next-generation Galaxy foldable devices.”

Together, these advancements help enable a strong foldable display that maximises content immersion on a seamless screen and reduces crease visibility — all while keeping it slim. By balancing strength, flexibility and structural stability, Samsung continues to set the bar for foldable displays.

The new Flex Titanium technology will debut with Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy foldable devices. Further details will be unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked on July 22 at 11pm AEST.

History repeats a pattern. The breakthroughs that change everything are rarely the most powerful inventions. They are the moments those inventions reach into daily life. Electricity changed society not with power plants, but when a switch appeared in homes. The internet became ours through the browser. The phone became powerful through the ecosystem of apps that grew on top of it.

AI will be no different.

Where AI Meets People

AI is getting smarter faster, and this will continue. But to change how people live, it must answer: where, how and into whose hands does this intelligence reach? This will define AI’s next chapter.

AI no longer merely answers. It is entering an agentic age, taking action on our behalf while the person carries the final decision. But to act for someone, it must first know them.

That is why it matters where AI meets people. The entry points are where AI understands a person and builds trust. The best AI experiences will come from the devices that know the user best.

This is what Samsung has spent years building. The phone is closest to us, with us daily. The tablet is where we create and learn. The watch reads signals like sleep and heart rate. The TV and connected home appliances add context from where we live. And new form factors, from foldables to intelligent eyewear, expand where AI meets us. Together, a fuller picture of a person’s needs forms.

These entry points are powerful together. Signals from across devices become timely assistance: sleep tracked by your watch shapes tomorrow’s schedule, with information always available. AI at its best works quietly in the background, bringing these moments into a cohesive experience. That is why we have spent years building an ecosystem not just to reach, but to connect more moments.

Built on Openness and Trust

Samsung does not do this alone. The platforms that changed the world were the most open. The web was. So were mobile operating systems. With SmartThings, we brought devices, services and partners into one connected experience, shaping industry open standards. Openness lets the best ideas reach people faster. And we don’t simply layer intelligence on top, but design how AI works at the center so it serves each person in context.

But openness alone is not the goal. The harder task is turning intelligence into something personal and trustworthy. The best intelligence in the world should reach people through their everyday devices. But what makes it personal is understanding the user and keeping that understanding safe. That is our responsibility.

As AI becomes more personal and agentic, trust becomes the foundation. People need to know what AI is doing for them and remain in control.

This is why trust isn’t added at the end. Samsung Knox protects each Galaxy device and now the connections between them. As intelligence moves across devices, protecting what flows between them is crucial. The most personal data stays on the device so people can understand how AI is working and remain in control.

The Next Chapter of Galaxy

That same understanding shapes the devices we build. The more personal and capable AI becomes, the more form matters. As AI helps us with more at once, a screen that flexes and folds expands what is possible. This is what makes foldables special: they fold into your hand or open a larger stage. On this journey, Samsung has continued to make foldables thinner, lighter, stronger and more immersive.

AI is also essential in health. How we sleep, recover and look after ourselves—daily choices add up. A device close to us, like a watch, tracks these signals ensuring a better day.

The upcoming Galaxy Unpacked is where we will show what’s next in bringing all this together: more personal, natural AI experiences on a foundation more partners can build on. The question that opens the next era is not who has the smartest AI, but who understands people best, and turns that understanding into experiences they can trust.

We intend to take this path with openness and responsibility, beginning with the device already in your hand. We open this next chapter together at Galaxy Unpacked.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced Galaxy A27 5G, a device that refines everyday mobile use with an immersive display, reliable performance and thoughtfully integrated AI features. Building on the popular Galaxy A26 5G, Galaxy A27 5G introduces meaningful enhancements that make the experience easier and more intuitive for more users.

More Screen, Less Distraction

For smoother and more seamless viewing, Galaxy A27 5G features a 6.7-inch[1] Super AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. It also introduces an upgraded Infinity-O display, which minimises the visible camera area through a discreet punch-hole design. Together with a reduced and more balanced bezel, this adds screen space and removes distractions to keep content front and center. With a slim 7.8 mm body, Galaxy A27 5G is designed to feel comfortable in the user’s hand throughout the day.

Everyday Performance, Enhanced

Powered by the Snapdragon® 6 Gen 3 Mobile Platform,[2] Galaxy A27 5G feels more responsive throughout the day, whether users are switching between apps or busily handling multitasking. A boost in GPU performance delivers smoother graphics for gaming and streaming, while the latest high-speed memory enables faster data transfer speeds and improved power efficiency. Together, these upgrades help Galaxy A27 5G deliver an everyday experience that users can count on.

Galaxy A27 5G also introduces a 12 MP front camera that captures a wider range of brightness and richer colours, resulting in more natural-looking selfies in a variety of lighting conditions.[3]

Awesome Intelligence for Everyday Tasks

Upgrades to the existing suite of AI features make mobile intelligence more accessible. Circle to Search[4] with Google now supports multi-object recognition, allowing users to search for multiple items within an image at once, from outfits to accessories, in a single step. It also allows outfits to be virtually tried on directly from search results, helping users to explore new styles from anywhere.

Object Eraser[5] now delivers more precise results, making it easier to remove unwanted distractions with more natural-looking edits. Additionally, Voice Transcription[6] in the Voice Recorder app can now translate as it transcribes, making it easier to capture meeting notes in 22 languages.

Building on the Awesome Intelligence[7] experiences introduced earlier this year, Galaxy A27 5G supports a choice of AI assistants, including Google Gemini[8] and Perplexity.[9] Deeper integration across more native Galaxy apps — including Gallery — supports faster, more intuitive everyday interactions. Galaxy A27 5G now supports Bixby[10] as a conversational device agent, enabling seamless control of settings and features through natural language.

Galaxy A27 5G reinforces Samsung’s commitment to long-term support with up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades, as well as up to six years of security updates from the initial global launch date, giving users confidence that they will be able to use their device for longer. Built on Samsung Knox with hardware-backed protection from Knox Vault,[11] Galaxy A27 5G helps to keep sensitive data safe, making device protection easier and more intuitive.

Pricing and Availability

Galaxy A27 5G will be available in Australia starting July 3 in Black[12] for $499. During the Introductory Offer period between 3 July and 30 July, customers can save $50 on the purchase of Galaxy A27 5G at participating retailers including Samsung.com and Samsung Experience Store. For added peace of mind, Samsung Care+[13] offers comprehensive coverage optimised to users’ needs, including tailored benefits that protect the value of the device.
