Fresh from unveiling its 2023 lineup at CES 2023, Samsung Electronics has today announced the availability of the Samsung Odyssey G6 (G65B) in Australia – the brand’s first 27-inch and 32-inch gaming monitor to pair blistering fast refresh rates and pin-sharp QHD resolution with Smart TV features. The Odyssey G6 easily transforms from a gaming monitor to a Smart TV, giving gamers direct access to their favourite streaming services[1] without compromising gaming performance.

With entertainment and gaming the two most common uses for monitors outside of work[2], Samsung has developed the Odyssey G6 to deliver high refresh rates and low latency, and exceptional contrast and colour, in a 1000R curved display for a truly immersive multi-content experience.

“As seen at CES, our 2023 Odyssey Gaming Monitor range focuses on delivering exceptional speed and image quality with a range of innovative features that now means you can game, work and watch from an all-in-one Monitor display,” said Phil Gaut, Senior Director of Display and Brand Memory Samsung Australia. “In combining game-winning features with Smart TV options, the Odyssey G6 is a one-stop gaming monitor that personalises home entertainment experiences without compromising on the gaming performance that Odyssey is known for.”

Slick Gameplay and Spell-Binding Visuals

The Odyssey G6 boasts an ultra-smooth 240Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time (GtG), and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, reducing screen tearing and input latency, providing a near flawless gaming experience and an ultra-reactive competitive edge. With its QHD resolution packing 1.7 times the pixel density of FHD paired with DisplayHDR600, the Odyssey G6 makes gaming worlds appear almost life-like via bright colours and deep contrast images. Vivid scenes wrap even more tightly around gamers via the 1000R curved display that helps to fill peripheral vision and draws gamers into their virtual avatar’s shoes.

The Odyssey G6 features Game Bar, enabling players to easily check and control game settings such as FPS or HDR, modify response time or screen ratio, as well as the game picture mode without interrupting play. To provide a competitive edge, screen ratios can extend from 16.9 to an ultra-wide 21.9 game view, providing more content to bring gamers closer to the top of the leaderboard.

Smart TV enters the realm of gaming

The Odyssey G6 brings Samsung’s Smart TV Hub to a 27 and 32-inch gaming monitor form factor for the first time, offering flexibility and value to gamers looking to switch between their go-to games and streaming their favourite shows with no downloads or sign-ups[3].

Users can wirelessly connect to a Windows or Mac PC, use Samsung DeX or AirPlay 2 to mirror their screen use, or access Microsoft 365 cloud services[4] for work productivity. Furthermore, the Odyssey G6 is equipped with a high-sensitivity Far Field Voice microphone, allowing gamers to control the device with voice assistants such as Bixby. The Always On Voice[5] function allows users to interact with Bixby even when the monitor is turned off, while displaying conversation related information on the monitor’s screen.

For comfort and convenience, the Odyssey G6 features a VESA-standard ergonomic stand that can swivel, tilt and adjust to the optimum height for gaming or content consumption.

The Odyssey G6 (G65B) is currently available via select retail stores, online gaming resellers, and the Samsung Online Store and is available in 27 and 32-inch display options with an RRP $949.00 and $1,099.00, respectively.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced innovations designed to bring about a new era of sustainable living. With services like SmartThings Energy

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced innovations designed to bring about a new era of sustainable living. With services like SmartThings Energy helping to set new standards for household efficiency, Samsung’s latest BESPOKE Home appliances are designed to empower users to save both energy and money. Together with technologies including a new wash cycle and filter[1] that help to minimise microplastic emissions from washers, Samsung’s newest advancements aim to allow consumers to lessen their impact on the environment and support the health of the planet.

“The technologies we’re unveiling at CES 2023 place sustainability at the core of the user experience,” said Moohyung Lee, EVP and Head of the R&D Team of the Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “Our ambition is to become the most energy-efficient appliance brand globally, and our latest products and partnerships will help make sustainable living a reality for more people and more communities.”

SmartThings Maximises Energy Savings

With more than 80 million connected devices across the globe[2], the SmartThings platform continues to expand while helping to unlock more ways for users to reduce their carbon footprint at home.

Now, SmartThings Energy’s AI Energy Mode[3] is more powerful than ever, offering support for more devices and regions and even more significant energy savings. Testing on overseas Samsung products suggests that these energy savings include up to 15% more savings for compatible refrigerators[4], up to 20% for compatible air conditioners[5], and up to 35% for compatible washers[6] on select cycles[7]. These energy saving figures may vary locally.

Industry’s First Smart Home Energy Management Systems (SHEMS) Certification

Samsung’s efforts to enrich and expand SmartThings Energy have led the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) to award Samsung the industry’s first mass-market Smart Home Energy Management Systems (SHEMS) certification. The certification recognises smart home appliances and services that manage and automate connected devices to help consumers gain insights into their energy use, which is designed to inspire energy-saving behaviour, helping customers to reduce costs and facilitate demand response measures that minimise stress on the grid.

The USEPA has also awarded base model Samsung home appliances in the US 260 ENERGY STAR® certifications, including 43 “Most Efficient” recognitions[8]. Samsung is one of the long-standing leaders with more than a decade of ENERGY STAR award leadership, and a rare recipient of the prestigious ENERGY STAR Corporate Commitment Award.

Helping Make Net Zero Homes a Reality – Offering Households the Ultimate in Energy Efficiency

To empower more people to enjoy energy independence at home, Samsung has unveiled the next phase of its net zero home initiative: the Smart City Project. Working with Sterling Ranch and its long-time technology partner Siemens, the Smart City Project will help establish Sterling Ranch as a master-planned sustainable housing community designed to house 30,000 residents in Littleton, Colorado.

SmartThings Energy will serve as the residents’ primary interactive app to monitor data, with Samsung appliances offering residents real-time insights on their energy, water and natural gas use. Throughout the community, solar panels and household batteries will produce and store energy, while energy-efficient appliances will help minimise power usage and monitor water use to help save resources. Together with smart infrastructure solutions from Siemens paired with smart home and energy optimisation solution from Resideo Technologies, Samsung technologies will make it easy for the residents of Sterling Ranch to enjoy a net-zero lifestyle.

Samsung’s collaboration with Resideo, extends beyond the Smart City Project. Samsung and Resideo are exploring an opportunity to integrate Samsung’s appliances with Resideo’s smart grid solutions to connect customers with energy management programs in California and Texas. In the future, this work could help make more communities smart-grid ready by expanding Resideo’s best-in-class demand response offering and optimising SmartThings Energy’s savings.

Tackling Microplastics Head-on With ‘Less Microfibre’ Technology

While reducing the impact of devices and homes is vital to creating a sustainable future, other clear and present risks to the environment demand our attention. For over a year, Samsung and Patagonia have been working together to address the challenge of microplastics shedding during the laundry process and polluting oceans and other bodies of water.

Samsung’s new Less Microfibre Cycle[9] and Less Microfibre Filter[10] are products of that collaboration. A breakthrough in the fight against microplastics, the Less Microfibre Cycle (currently available on overseas models only) can cut microplastic emissions by up to 54%[11]. Now available in Europe, the cycle will roll out to compatible washers in Korea from February this year and in the US soon [12].

Tests carried out on overseas models such as the model featured above have found the Less Microfibre Cycle may reduce microplastic emissions by up to 54%[11]. The availability of this product in Australia is yet to be confirmed.

Like the Less Microfibre Cycle (the availability of which is yet to be confirmed in Australia), Samsung and Patagonia’s newly developed washing machine filter has the potential to have an impact on the health of aquatic ecosystems. The Less Microfibre Filter helps to minimise microplastic emissions by preventing them from escaping into the ocean at the end of wash cycles. It will be available in select Samsung washing machines in Australia and Europe beginning in the second half of 2023.

BESPOKE refrigerators also feature customisable door panels that support long use by allowing users to easily update their existing appliance’s design instead of replacing it with a new one.

Through close collaboration, technological breakthroughs, and a commitment to becoming the world’s most energy-efficient appliance brand, Samsung aims to lead the way to a more sustainable future. Visit Samsung.com/au to learn more about the eco-conscious innovations Samsung is showcasing at CES 2023.

At CES 2023, the Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA) announced a milestone, introducing its HCA Specification 1.0 for Cloud-to-Cloud (C2C) interoperability in the connected home. The launch of this new industry standard comes just one year after the launch of the organisation at last year’s CES event.

The HCA is an organisation founded by manufacturers of HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems, home appliances and TVs. The HCA was created with the goal to develop safe, interoperable standards for connected home ecosystems.

As a founding member of the Alliance, Samsung Electronics continues to pursue innovation, including the SmartThings platform, to aid the HCA’s mission to develop standards that promote interconnectivity.

“Through combined industry efforts in HCA, we are working to make the smart home more accessible to consumers via the devices they use every day in the home,” said Chanwoo Park, Executive Vice President and Head of Service Biz Group of the Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “We are taking a fresh look at how devices can enhance consumers’ lives and how the appliance industry can work together to create a safer connected home that our customers can trust. Through energy savings and support for legacy household products, we believe that we can contribute to a world where sustainability starts at home.”

Interoperability to Promote Compatibility

The HCA Specification 1.0 expands on existing industry standards to clearly define interoperability standards that ensure long-lasting devices like appliances, HVAC systems and TVs operate seamlessly across brands, including legacy appliances already operating in consumers’ homes.

As a pioneer in the smart home industry, the SmartThings platform has paved the way for interoperability within the connected home. SmartThings supports Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled devices from a range of manufacturers, as well as first-party smart home appliances, providing consumers with more convenience and options within their connected home.

With the introduction of the HCA Specification 1.0, this enhanced interoperable experience will soon make the connected home attainable by more consumers than ever.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today shared its vision for a calmer connected world through cutting-edge technologies that enhance the lives of users by providing smarter and more intuitive experiences. Speaking at a press conference at CES® 2023, Samsung and its key partners came together to outline details about how they plan to build a better-connected world while contributing to a more sustainable future.

Jong-Hee (JH) Han, Vice Chairman, CEO and Head of the DX (Device eXperience) Division at Samsung Electronics opened the company’s presence at CES by highlighting Samsung’s strategy to deliver on the promise of the connected experience across the key touchpoints in our lives – in our homes, cars, and at work – while also working to build a more sustainable future. The strategy outlined during the press conference focuses on the company’s aim of bringing calm to our connected world so that devices and innovation can genuinely enable better, more personal, and more intuitive experiences. To do this, Samsung is focusing on seamlessly connecting devices and designing products to make the everyday use of technology more sustainable.

“We recognise our vision is a big one,” said CEO JH Han. “It’s about solving real challenges today and understanding consumers’ future needs and aspirations. It will take time, innovation, and cooperation with partners worldwide. But we are committed to achieving it, and have already started.”

Samsung Incorporates Sustainability at Every Level

To address our planet’s ongoing challenges, Samsung highlighted how it continues to prioritise the environment through a combination of sustainability targets, innovative product design, and strategic partnerships. As a result, by 2050, all of Samsung’s businesses will match their electricity needs with renewable energy and reach net zero carbon emissions. In the nearer term, the DX Division will aim to transition to 100 percent renewable energy by 2027 and achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2030.

To further the company’s sustainability goals, Samsung outlined how Everyday Sustainability—building sustainability features into the company’s most popular products and services—will contribute to a healthier environment. This includes creating more sustainable products through innovative design in materials and energy efficiency.

“By building sustainability into the product experience, we, and the many people around the world who use our products, can contribute to a healthier planet,” said Inhee Chung, Vice President of Corporate Sustainability Center at Samsung. “As a result, some of our most popular products are now some of our most sustainable.”

Samsung announced that many of its TVs and smartphones utilise components manufactured from recycled materials and post-consumer materials, including recycled plastic from discarded finishing nets, while the company’s home appliances, memory and 5G radio network chipsets are contributing to energy savings for customers[1]. In addition, Samsung’s connected services, such as SmartThings Energy and AI Energy Mode, are also helping consumers save energy and cut costs while lowering their overall climate impact.

Samsung also shared the stage with Patagonia, a global leader in outdoor clothing, to discuss a partnership to combat the issue of microplastics – the tiny particles often found in clothes and released into oceans, lakes, and rivers through the laundry. Vincent Stanley, Director of Philosophy at Patagonia, spoke at the Samsung press conference about how the two companies have developed a new wash technology called the Less Microfiber Cycle[2], currently being incorporated into Samsung washing machines, which can reduce microplastic release by 54%[3] during a laundry cycle. Like the Less Microfiber Cycle, Samsung and Patagonia recently developed the new[4], which reduces microplastic discharge by helping to prevent them from escaping into the ocean at the end of a wash cycle.

Meanwhile, James Kwon, Product Manager, ENERGY STAR for Consumer Electronics at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that Samsung’s connected home experience with SmartThings is the first mass-market Smart Home Energy Management System to earn the prestigious ENERGY STAR SHEMS Certification. Samsung also continues to collaborate with diverse stakeholders in its sustainability efforts. For example, Samsung joined with the Carbon Trust and other technology leaders to develop the industry’s first specification for measuring, accounting for, and decarbonising the emissions associated with connected devices while being used by customers.

A Connected Home and Connected Life Built on Convenience

Samsung detailed plans to fulfill the connected experience today and in the future. During the company’s press conference, Jaeyeon Jung, Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings, highlighted how features like SmartThings Home Monitor and SmartThings Pet Care bring convenience to the connected experience by monitoring and sharing alerts for anything out of the ordinary – for people and pets. Prompted by Samsung Smart TV, these services are some of the many ways Samsung and the connected platform SmartThings are creating an even smarter home.

A key part of this vision is increased interoperability, enabling consumers to connect more of their devices, whether they are Samsung’s or from a partner brand. As the industry looks to bring about a new level of compatibility through the Matter smart home standard, Samsung stated its commitment to this partnership philosophy. SmartThings was one of the first brands to adopt Matter, and Samsung is a founding member of the Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA).

Also, at the CES press conference, Samsung announced the latest smart home innovation, with the SmartThings Station[5] – its first product to have Matter support built-in right from the beginning. It is a convenient, new way to kick-start SmartThings experiences at home and make it easier to interact with connected devices. SmartThings Station turns Samsung’s wireless charger into a smart home hub that can seamlessly transform the state of your home at the touch of a button[6].

The focus on connected experiences also extended to unveiling new partnerships, including announcing an expanded collaboration with Philips Hue. Jasper Vervoort, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Philips Hue discussed a new way to sync the content from Samsung TVs with Philips Hue lighting through the [7], which can be downloaded from the app store on Samsung TVs. This is the first solution to sync lighting and content from Samsung TVs without additional hardware.

With more devices connected than ever, Samsung also detailed how security and privacy innovations will be keys to building connected device ecosystems. The company is taking its device security experiences to the next level with its upcoming solution, Samsung Knox Matrix, which will conveniently and safely sync credentials across devices, while helping to protect sensitive information via multi-layered mutual monitoring enabled by private blockchain technology.

A Vision for the Future

The company also showcased next-generation innovations and technologies using the latest artificial intelligence (AI). Experiences enabled by Spatial AI – like in the BESPOKE Jet Bot AI+ – are laying the groundwork for better in-home experiences specific to the dimensions and environment of your space.

Samsung also gave a preview of to make content viewing possible for people with vision impairment. Relumino Mode highlights outlines and improves contrast and colour so that content is clear and easier to enjoy[9]. In addition, Samsung also displayed a new pair of Relumino glasses, which first debuted at CES 2018 as part of its startup acceleration program C-Lab project, as well as its mobile app to make the visual experience more enjoyable and personalised on every screen.

Having originally launched in Europe[2], the Infinite Refrigerator will expand to Australia by Q2 2023, and additional countries including, Mexico and Thailand by the end of the year.

Samsung’s new premium built-in refrigerator is available with a choice of fridge, freezer, or wine cellar models, and features a timeless, modular design that seamlessly blends into any interior. With simple lines, high-quality natural materials, and features that maximise convenience and streamline food storage, the Infinite Refrigerator adds lasting value to consumers’ kitchens.

“Combining high-quality materials with modular designs, the Samsung Infinite Refrigerator reimagines bespoke customisation in a premium fridge, creating the ultimate blend of style and performance,” said Junhwa Lee, EVP and Head of the Customer Experience Team of the Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics.

A Timeless Design That Elevates Any Kitchen

With a timeless aesthetic that reflects the latest trends, Infinite Refrigerator is built to last. Known as Infinite Design, the new aesthetic is distinguished by its seamless look, durable materials, premium finishing, and elegant design cues.

As a premium bespoke refrigerator, Infinite Refrigerator naturally features a modular design made from high-quality materials that can be customised and combined to suit consumers’ changing needs. Infinite Design enhances that versatility by ensuring that the refrigerator will remain stylish no matter how consumers’ lifestyles change. With its simple lines, smooth surface, Timeless Greige finish and elegant gold copper edge frame, the Infinite Refrigerator looks outstanding in any interior.

The refrigerator’s exterior is made from premium aluminum which provides a level of dent- and scratch-resistance and allows marks and stains to be removed[3]. The interior is bright and refined with its Black Metal Cooling and Tunnel Lighting – two features that epitomise the refrigerator’s elegant balance of form and function.

Applied to the duct and door, Black Metal Cooling not only creates a sense of depth for a distinctly premium look, but it also helps keep food fresher for longer by quickly compensating for heat loss. The Tunnel Lighting on the frame and shelves enhances the aesthetic while giving users clear views of every corner of their fridge. Not only is the interior striking, but it is also spacious. The fridge and freezer feature a combined capacity of 805 litres[4], while the wine cellar offers room to store up to 101 bottles.

Raising the Bar for Kitchen Convenience

To offer users an experience that is more in tune with how they use their fridge today, the Infinite Refrigerator comes packed with features that maximise convenience. Together, these technologies provide instant access to food and refreshments for a truly outstanding user experience.

The new Auto Open Door features a sensor on its side[5] that instantly opens the door with a simple touch[6]. This makes it easy for users to access their fridge even when their hands are full of groceries or messy from food prep. The door’s built-in sensor means there is no handle to get in the way, while its stylishly simple look reflects modern consumers’ demand for clutter-free designs.

The dishwasher-safe[7], BPA-free[8] AutoFill Jug[9] provides easy access to refreshingly cold filtered water, anytime. It also features a built-in infuser[10] that allows users to create deliciously flavoured beverages by adding any fruits and herbs they like. The Dual Auto Ice Maker[11], meanwhile, ensures that users have plenty of ice, offering a choice of either whiskey ball ice or cubed ice.

Flexible Cooling for Optimal Freshness

The Infinite Refrigerator’s flexible storage options allow users to simultaneously store different foods under optimal conditions, keeping everything inside deliciously fresh.

The Flex Pantry[12] is an independently controlled drawer that can be quickly converted to different preset temperatures to suit users’ daily needs. The two built-in temperature modes are ideal for storing a wide range of high-quality ingredients, from meat and fish to fruits and vegetables, preserving their natural flavours and textures.

The wine cellar’s Triple Temperature Zone brings a similar level of optimised freshness to wine storage. With three separate climate zones and precise temperature controls, it allows users to simultaneously store different bottles of wine under optimal conditions, delivering the ultimate in wine preservation. The UV Protect Glass Door has triple-glazed glass with UV ray protection. It safeguards it from changes in the outside temperature, so the internal temperature remains stable, and shields it from harmful UV rays[13].

Seamless SmartThings Integration

The refrigerator’s seamless connectivity makes using it a breeze by simplifying everything from wine storage to managing energy use.

Part of the SmartThings app[14], the new SmartThings Smart Wine Storage wine management feature takes the guesswork out of storing wine by analysing wine labels and offering details on optimal storage conditions. When combined with SmartThings Cooking, the service helps recommend the perfect food to pair with wine[15].

SmartThings Energy[16] support allows users to easily monitor and manage their refrigerator’s electricity use and offers tips to help reduce their carbon footprint and save money. AI Energy Mode takes that efficiency to the next level by analysing usage patterns and other factors and optimising settings to help save energy.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the company will introduce new models in its monitor lineup, expanding its visual display leadership for the users.

New offerings in the Odyssey, ViewFinity and Smart Monitor lineups at CES® 2023 will deliver exceptional image quality and a range of innovative features for people looking to work, play and live through their monitor display.

Samsung is revolutionising the ultra-wide display category by launching the 57” Odyssey Neo G9, the world’s first single monitor with dual ultra-high definition resolution. This innovation is a testament to Samsung’s industry-leading position in delivering an immersive and lifelike gaming experience.

“We are introducing the future of gaming monitors with our Odyssey Neo G9, making each game more lifelike with innovative features and picture quality on a new scale,” said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “CES is the perfect place to showcase our innovations that can take not only gamers, but also graphic designers or TV fans to the next level, while providing personalised experiences across a range of integrated smart apps.”

Odyssey Neo G9: The World’s First Dual UHD Gaming Monitor

The Odyssey Neo G9 Gaming Monitor (Model Name: G95NC) helps gamers see new levels of detail with an incredible field of view. The gaming monitor delivers 7,680×2,160 resolution and a 32:9 aspect ratio in one screen for the first time.

Its 1000R curved 57” screen uses quantum mini LED technology with VESA Display HDR 1000 specification to deliver superior imaging in most game environments, from shadows to bright scenes. The Matte Display reduces light reflection on the screen, minimising distractions during the most intense gaming sessions.

It also boasts the world’s first DisplayPort 2.1 support, which transfers data approximately twice as fast as the previously used DisplayPort 1.4. In addition, the new DP2.1 allows lossless industry-standard Display Stream Compression (DSC) to transmit information without distortion.

The Odyssey Neo G9 also supports a refresh rate of 240Hz, so that gamers will not miss a thing during fast-paced gameplay.

Odyssey OLED G9: Brighter Whites, Deeper Blacks, and Near Infinite Colour Contrast

The Odyssey OLED G9 (Model Number: G95SC) is the latest addition to the Odyssey OLED lineup, featuring a dual quad-HD 49” 1800R curved display, with a 32:9 ratio. Its quantum dot technology OLED lighting is controlled pixel-by-pixel, allowing a near-infinite colour contrast ratio.

The OLED screen illuminates each pixel separately and does not rely on a backlight, allowing a 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio while delivering true RGB and true black without colour filters.

For smooth gameplay, the Odyssey OLED G9 also features a 0.1ms response time and 240Hz refresh rate to reduce lagging and skipping.

The Odyssey OLED G9 also uses apps from partners like Prime Video, Netflix and YouTube through Smart Hub, which allows users to enjoy various over-the-top (OTT) content using an Internet connection, without the need for a PC.

ViewFinity S9: Smart Colour Calibration Designed for Creative Professionals

The ViewFinity S9 (Model Number: S90PC) is Samsung’s newest addition to its High Resolution monitor lineup. It features a 5K 27” screen for the first time and is optimised for creative professionals such as graphic designers and photographers. Its 5,120 x 2,880 resolution combined with its wide colour gamut of up to 99% DCI-P3, provides crisp and true-to-form details, and its average Delta E ≦ 2[1] colour accuracy also produces clear and precise colour representation, even in complicated or nuanced visual environments.

The monitor’s built-in Colour Calibration Engine ensures precise screen colour and brightness, allowing users to adjust white balance, Gamma and RGB colour balance for perfect accuracy with their smartphones through the Samsung Smart Calibration application. The Matte Display limits light reflection and glare to minimise distractions while working.

Users can connect cameras and other devices to the monitor through USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 connections to easily transfer gigantic files of high-resolution video or other large data sets from storage devices to their PC.

Smart Monitor M8: Bringing Productivity, Entertainment and Personal Life Together

The Smart Monitor M8 (Model Number: M80C) features a stylish and slim design and now comes in a new 27” size in addition to the existing 32” size, both with 4K resolution.

The height-adjustable stand with tilt support gives users the best angle. The screen can now pivot 90 degrees, which helps users view long documents with less scrolling. It also meets VESA mount compatibility standards to help save space and retain a clutter-free environment.

The Smart Monitor M8 can connect, control, and manage hundreds of compatible connected devices through the built-in SmartThings Hub, including lights, cameras, doorbells, locks, thermostats, and more[2]. Samsung plans to expand device choices and usability by supporting Matter functionality and Home Connectivity Alliance standards from this year onwards.

Mouse control functionality has been added to many of the Smart Monitor’s over-the-top apps, including SmartThings and the Smart Hub, for a new level of convenient control without a remote.

Users can use the Smart Monitor M8 to get instant access to Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube and other over-the-top services through Smart Hub.

The new My Contents feature provides users with helpful information at a glance. When the monitor is on standby mode and detects a registered smartphone through low-power Bluetooth, it shows the user’s personalised photos, schedule and more on the screen. The monitor returns to standby mode when the phone moves out of range.

In addition, the Smart Monitor M8 is also protected by Samsung Knox Vault, which encrypts personal data and keeps stored files and information isolated from the device’s main operating system to help safeguard it from attacks.

Samsung’s new range of monitors including Odyssey Neo G9, Odyssey OLED G9, ViewFinity S9, and Smart Monitor M8 will be available in Australia in 2023.

In November 2022, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announced the winners of the CES 2023 Innovation Awards across 28 product categories, including Best of Innovation. Projects from the C-Lab startups received two Best of Innovation Awards, and 27 were named Innovation Awards Honorees. As a result, C-Lab took home 22 Innovation Awards in 2022 and seven more in 2023 for their standout technologies.

Samsung Electronics is sharing its knowledge of how to win the CES Innovation Award and enter the global market.

“It is a great pleasure to see that C-Lab startups have proven their technological prowess on the global stage, as evidenced by the most Innovation Awards ever at CES,” said Hark Kyu Park, President and Chief Financial Officer at Samsung Electronics. “We hope that C-Lab startups will be able to more actively target the global market and show the excellence of Korean startups.”

Notably, Dot Inc., which develops devices and software for the visually impaired, was named a CES 2023 Best of Innovation Award winner in the Accessibility category and also named two CES Innovation Awards Honorees. Verses, which developed the Meta Music System for streaming, was named a CES 2023 Best of Innovation Award winner in the Streaming category.

Additionally, seven spun-off startups from C-Lab Inside and 11 former C-Lab Outside startups won two Best of Innovation Awards and 20 Innovation Awards.

Samsung Has Achieved Its Goal of Nurturing 500 Startups and Projects over Five Years

In 2018, Samsung Electronics announced that it would accelerate 300 Korean startups through C-Lab Outside and 200 projects through C-Lab Inside over a five years. The company has nurtured a total of 506 startups and projects (304 from C-Lab Outside and 202 from C-Lab Inside) so far.

Samsung recently established C-Lab Family, a unique professional network through which alumni startups can continue to co-operate with Samsung even after graduating from C-Lab Outside or spun-off from C-Lab. It also created C-Lab Scale-Up Committee and plans to gradually expand partnerships and investments for C-Lab Family in the future.

[1]C-Lab (Creative Lab) is a program operated by Samsung to develop creative ideas into business opportunities and stimulate the South Korean start-up ecosystem. Starting in December 2012, Samsung C-Lab Inside was established to encourage Samsung employees to discover new ideas and foster a culture of creativity.

We are living in a world that is very complex and changing rapidly.

We now have to navigate uncharted waters where everything is changing – from technology to markets to consumers – and we face additional challenges of the pandemic and uncertainties in the global economy.

As such, the ‘environment’ and the ‘experience’ of how we live has become more important, and our concern for creating a sustainable future has deepened.

As a global leader in consumer electronics and information and communication technologies (ICT), I believe Samsung Electronics has a responsibility to establish an eco-conscious value chain through our innovative technologies and products, as well as to provide more valuable and enlightening experiences to each and every consumer.

That is why Samsung has been focusing its efforts to recognise sustainable innovation as an essential value and key element in our business.

At CES 2023 in January, Samsung will outline its plan for “Bringing Calm to Our Connected World” by underlining our responsibilities and vision to strive towards this goal and share our journey together for creating a sustainable and prosperous future.

SmartThings: Providing Evolved Hyper-Connected Experiences That Are Invisible Yet Present in Our Lives

At CES 2023, Samsung will present a new and expanded SmartThings experience that integrates your home ecosystem even more seamlessly, with a system that is supported by enhanced security.

We will also explore easier and safer ways to connect devices and appliances, and how to make customised experiences for each user even more precise with AI.

We are closely cooperating with various industry partners to embody the SmartThings experience, creating a new path to provide optimal and customised connected experiences to users according to their individual preferences and lifestyles.

Sustainable Future in the Hyper-Connected Era

In order to provide better daily life experiences, Samsung has been paying attention to how technology can address difficulties and problems encountered in everyday life. In addition, we have continued to identify ways to contribute to creating a more sustainable future by developing products that are sustainable and equipped with innovative technologies.

Since we announced our new environmental strategy in September, we have underlined how we plan to contribute to overcoming the climate crisis through our innovative technologies, including low power semiconductors and energy saving products. We also announced our goal to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Saving energy through SmartThings and developing eco-conscious innovative products showcase how we are upholding our sustainable, forward-thinking values.

In addition, we are actively promoting our environmental and societal efforts by participating in sustainable business management partnerships with other stakeholders, such as international organisations, industries and citizens.

We joined the steering committee for the Asia Clean Energy Coalition (ACEC) together with major global companies and NGOs to expand renewable energy supply to its major production bases in Asia.

Furthermore, we joined the Semiconductor Climate Consortium (SCC) as a founding member during the COP27 UN Climate Change Conference held in November. Through this organisation, we aim to set and implement plans to help reduce the overall greenhouse gas emissions of the semiconductor industry, create eco-conscious ecosystems by setting a carbon reduction target, develop greenhouse gas reduction technologies and support green technology startups.

We will continue to pave the way for the hyper-connected era, empowering consumers to help create a sustainable future by simply using Samsung products.

One More Step for Mankind: Samsung’s Sustainable Journey

When developing new technology for users, we have always been asking the question “What should we do?” rather than “What can we do?” This is because technology can change the way people communicate with and experience the world, make daily life more enriching and can act as the driving force toward a better future.

At CES 2023, we will show our industry-leading efforts that go beyond simply making great products with advanced technologies and aim to unleash new experiences through technology, making our daily lives and the world even better.
