Samsung Electronics Australia today announced the local availability of the 49” Odyssey OLED G9 gaming monitor (G95SC model) – a power-packed gaming monitor with a DisplayHDR True Black 400 and next-level AI upscaling technology to achieve incredible picture quality. Building on the success of last year’s Odyssey OLED G8 (G85SB), the new monitor sits at the pinnacle of Samsung’s premium gaming monitor lineup, designed for those who want to play big and win big.

Measuring 49 inches in size with a 1800R curvature, the Odyssey OLED G9 is Samsung’s first OLED monitor to offer Dual Quad High Definition (DQHD; 5,120 x 1,440) resolution with a 32:9 ratio. The large and wide screen ratio enables gamers who don’t play fair to lose themselves in super-ultrawide vistas — equivalent to two QHD screens side by side. At the same time, its rapid 0.03ms gray-to-gray (GtG) response time and 240Hz refresh rate offers players a competitive edge.

The addition of the Neo Quantum Processor Pro sets the Odyssey OLED G9 apart from other OLED gaming monitors. Using a deep learning algorithm, it intelligently analyses images and automatically upscales to adjust brightness while amplifying contrast. This enables the monitor to restore each detail and deliver brilliant images, pixel by pixel.

“The powerful 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 ushers in a new era in gaming monitor performance, delivering a premium, ultra-wide immersive experience that puts this monitor in a class of its own,” said Phil Gaut, Senior Director of Display and Brand Memory, Samsung Australia. “The Odyssey OLED G9 is ideal for gamers looking for deep blacks, incredible detail, brilliant colour and game changing speeds at a level that only Samsung can deliver.”

Game changing speed in brilliant colour

AMD FreeSync Premium Pro enhances the Odyssey OLED G9’s super smooth gameplay experience. With DisplayHDR True Black 400, the monitor delivers incredible details and vivid colours regardless of the game being played or the content gamers are watching.

The Odyssey OLED G9 features a slim design housed within a sleek metal frame. On the back of the monitor is the much-loved CoreSync and Core Lighting+ which uses advanced lighting technology to match the colours on-screen, making content incredibly immersive. Built-in stereo speakers complement on-screen content with crisp sound.

The Odyssey OLED G9’s quantum dot technology OLED lighting is controlled pixel-by-pixel, allowing a near-infinite[1] colour contrast ratio. Cable not shown. Image simulated for illustrative purposes.

A gaming experience like never before

As the first Odyssey Gaming monitor to launch in Australia with Samsung Gaming Hub[2], in addition to Smart TV apps,[3] the Odyssey OLED G9 provides gamers with access to streaming, gaming services and entertainment all in one place. In switching to Smart Mode, gamers can relish in the Odyssey OLED G9’s incredible picture quality and immersive sound to bring a cinematic experience to their favourite shows from leading OTT (over-the-top) service providers – all without a connection to a PC or mobile device[4]. Samsung Gaming Hub also enables players to discover and play games from partners such as XBOX Game Pass[5] and NVIDIA GeForce Now.

The Multi View offering allows gamers to take full advantage of the large display by allowing easy multitasking. For example, gameplay on one side and web browsing on the other. This means that gamers now can enjoy multitasking without the hassle of a multiple-monitor setup.

The Odyssey OLED G9 offers a variety of convenient functions and features that provide an optimised experience whether gaming or viewing. Versatile connectivity options, including HDMI 2.1 and Micro HDMI 2.1, Display Port 1.4, and Auto Source Switch+, create cleaner connections from one central USB hub while providing a seamless experience regardless of the content source. The Height Adjustable Stand (HAS) enables users to find the perfect gaming or viewing position, regardless of what they are playing.

Pricing and availability

The Odyssey OLED G9 will be available in Australia from 24 July 2023 for $2,699 (RRP) exclusively via the Samsung Online store. Those who register their interest in the Odyssey OLED G9 from today until 23 July 2023 will be eligible to receive an exclusive offer.
