AI Family Hub French Door Refrigerator – Winner: Good Design Award (Domestic Appliances)

This refrigerator boasts a 21.5-inch screen that features the new AI Vision Inside[5], which uses an internal camera to recognise up to 33 different food items that are put into and taken out of the refrigerator and suggests recipes using those ingredients. Users can also set ‘use by dates’ on the AI Family Hub screen for food items, which then allows the refrigerator to send a notification when the set date draws near[6]; conveniently helping to save money by reducing food waste.

The range is colour customisable, modular and includes a French Door Fridge, Single Door Fridge, Single Door Freezer and a Bottom Mount Fridge, each with the unique ability to connect together. • Samsung BESPOKE AirDresser Winner: Australian Good Design Award Gold Accolade

Samsung’s BESPOKE AirDresser is an innovative approach to clothing care that optimises powerful air and steam to help remove up to 99% of certain germs, allergens and dust, refreshing and sanitising clothes between washes[2].

Of the Samsung BESPOKE AirDresser, the Good Design Awards jury said: “Sturdily built with a range of functions for different garments, this AirDresser prolongs the time between washing or dry-cleaning (outer) clothes like suits and uniforms, by steaming, drying, and deodorising them. Samsung has hit the nail on the head with the subtle dark grey look, compact design and built-in functionality.”

The 2022 Good Design Awards attracted high-quality design projects from Australia and around the world spanning 11 design disciplines in more than 30 categories and sub-categories.

Submissions were evaluated by more than 70 Australian and international Jurors, including designers, engineers, architects and thought leaders. Each entry was evaluated according to a strict set of design evaluation criteria which includes Good Design, Design Innovation and Design Impact.

Samsung wins four accolades at the 2021 Good Design Awards, with the Odyssey G9, The Frame TV and Smart AI laundry range receiving the prestigious Good Design Award Gold Accolade.

Samsung Electronics Australia has been awarded four accolades at the 63^rd annual Good Design Awards for products of outstanding design and innovation that improve the lives of Australians – including three products receiving the prestigious Good Design Award Gold Accolade.

This year, the awards recognised a range of Samsung consumer electronics, with the prestigious Good Design Awards Gold Accolade awarded to the Odyssey G9 gaming monitor, The Frame TV and Smart AI Washing Machine and Dryer range. While the 7000 Series French Door Refrigerator with Beverage Centre received a Good Design Award Winner Accolade.

“A sleek, futuristic, immersive, super wide (32:9), super curved gaming monitor that would comfortably fit on any Star Trek flight-deck! For gamers, this super ultra-wide display will astound, filling peripheral vision and creating an immersive experience like no other. It is beautifully tailored to the target consumer. It replaces the equivalent of 3 monitors, has great cable management and a surprisingly small footprint stand. Overall, very impressive indeed.”

Samsung The Frame TV

“The customisable frame is truly innovative and the concept fulfils what many are seeking from a large screen TV. This new generation, with thinner flush wall mounting, is a further improvement. The art mode has also been improved with lower energy consumption and cables and connections have been cleverly embedded. The design is slim, sleek and clean and really works as an art piece … and as a TV. Overall, this is a really impressive example of design and a standout project that ticks every box for good design in this category. Well done Samsung.”

Samsung Smart AI Laundry Range

“This Smart AI range has a simple but elegant style. The devices look clean and easy to use. The intuitive controls help the user select the ideal cycle, and the inclusive features like Braille signs for those with visual impairment make the devices easily accessible for everyone. Overall, these products are sleek and minimal in design, with impressive functionalities for optimized energy, water consumption and fabric care.”

Samsung French Door Refrigerator with Beverage Centre

“This is a stylish, well thought out solution to the family cold storage issue. The instant fill water jug is a great feature, while the clean exterior is modern and enticing.”

The winners of Australia’s peak industry design awards were announced online during the 2021 Good Design Week.

The awards recognised a range of Samsung’s home appliance products including the Samsung AirDresser, Samsung 2-door Family Hub^TM and Samsung Wind-Free Geo Split System each receiving a Good Design Award Winner Accolade. While the Samsung Jet^TM 90 with Clean Station^TM and Samsung Air Purifier (AX9500 model) were also awarded the prestigious Good Design Awards Gold Accolade, awarded to entries that have not only met the high criteria set by Good Design Australia, but exceed them.

Its easy stackable design means it can grow with the space or size of family by simply adding additional units to it, without taking up too much space.”

Samsung Jet 90
“A refined and stylish design with a highly usable set of features. The five-layered HEPA filtration and dust disposal unit called the Clean Station are unique to market.  It also features a range of accessories to suit all areas of the home along with an ergonomically-designed telescopic wand to help get into those hard-to-reach spaces. Lastly, the self-standing unit makes it easy to store away once you are done with it. ”

Samsung Family Hub 5.0

“An attractive and well made refrigerator, offering a clean and simple interior with a high degree of functionality. Smart fridges have come along way and this is no exception. The facade is faultless with an elegant resolution of finishes and design details. This will blend in with the most architectural of kitchens and yet is easy to use with features like phone or TV mirroring, food reminders, recipe searches or even playing music and making phone calls while spending time in the kitchen.”

“Pushing the boundaries in clothes storage, sanitisation and de-creasing through the multi-purpose application of steam. The styling is very minimalist but appropriate for its market. The jury could see it appealing to the luxury residential, hotel or business and travel markets.”

“A simple design with a powerful set of features that has been executed perfectly. In a time when people are more concerned about the impacts of allergens, viruses and bacteria in our air, the Samsung Wind-Free Geo Split System is a great product. ”
