Samsung Electronics today announced that its smart TVs and monitors will now support Netflix shows and movies in HDR10+[1]. With HDR10+, viewers can enjoy richer contrast, deeper colors and stunning visual depth, making their favourite Netflix titles more immersive than ever.[2]

“HDR10+ enhances the way we watch content, delivering deeper contrast and more vibrant colors for a truly cinematic experience,” said Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “We are excited to bring this technology to Netflix’s 300 million plus members and will continue collaborating with various partners to expand HDR10+ support across our product lineup and the broader streaming ecosystem.”

HDR10+ is a next-generation high dynamic range (HDR) technology designed to optimise picture quality scene by scene. By dynamically adjusting brightness and contrast levels, HDR10+ ensures that each frame is displayed with exceptional clarity and detail, staying true to the creator’s intent.

With this integration, viewers can experience enhanced realism and depth across a growing library of HDR10+ content, making every scene feel more lifelike. HDR10+ content on Netflix will be accessible on 2025 Samsung Neo QLED, OLED and Lifestyle TVs — as well as 2025 and 2024 monitor models — with support for additional models in the future.

This launch marks a significant step in expanding HDR10+ content, bringing enhanced picture quality to more viewers. In addition to Netflix, Samsung is actively working with a growing network of industry partners to further extend HDR10+ support.

Q. Can you tell us about your role in developing The First Descendant and how you contributed to the game’s creation?

Kim: I’m responsible for the game engine. I develop the software that integrates essential elements like graphics, sound and physics engines, make them work seamlessly together.

Wi: I handle the environmental concept design. My role involves creating the overall concept of the game and designing the backgrounds and characters to fit within that environment.

▲ (From left) Gley, Blair and Enzo, key characters from Nexon’s looter-shooter game ‘The First Descendant’ (Image courtesy of Nexon)

Q. What sets The First Descendant apart? What were some of the key innovations and design choices that defined your approach?

Kim: The First Descendant is a looter shooter that blends third-person shooter (TPS) mechanics with role-playing game (RPG) elements. It features spectacular combat scenes, high-quality graphics and a rich loot system filled with powerful guns and gear. The core of the game lies in its storytelling, character development and the pursuit of the best weapons and equipment.

A major focus for us was bringing the open world of The First Descendant to life through cutting-edge graphics. Using Unreal Engine 5, we leveraged Nanite to achieve highly detailed environments, allowing us to render complex landscapes and objects with incredible precision. This was crucial for creating an immersive open-world experience where players can explore vast and visually stunning environments. Lumen played a significant role as well, enabling real-time lighting that reacts dynamically to the game’s world and characters, further enhancing the realism of the gameplay.

* Open World: A game design element that allows players to freely explore most areas with minimal restrictions.

* Unreal Engine 5: A game engine developed by Epic Games, known for key features like Nanite, which efficiently handles high-capacity graphics, and Lumen, which enhances lighting effects.

▲ Junhwan works on the development of ‘The First Descendant’ using the Odyssey OLED G8. The Odyssey OLED G8 delivers superb graphics with its high resolution and colour accuracy.

Wi: The game is set in an apocalyptic world where factions — each with their own traditions — battle for survival. The story follows humanity’s fight against the Vulgus, invaders who nearly wiped out the human race. Players take on the role of descendants, embarking on a quest to find the Iron Heart, the ultimate weapon to end the war.

On the design front, our goal was to create an apocalyptic world that felt rich and immersive while avoiding the overly dark and futuristic look often seen in similar settings. The environment itself is a key part of the storytelling. So, we integrated colourful, future-oriented designs for city of Albion to balance the grim atmosphere with a sense of hope. This approach doesn’t just end at the visual appeal but also helps the game engage players on an emotional level, too.

▲ Sinwook works on the design for the city of Albion, a key area in ‘The First Descendant,’ using the Odyssey OLED G8. The monitor’s consistent colours and detailed contrast has helped bring out the intricate design elements.

Q. As a game developer, what do you consider the most important factors in creating a visually immersive gaming experience?

Kim: A high-quality display is crucial to accurately present the game’s graphics and visuals. Today’s gaming standards demand seamless gameplay with vibrant graphics, high frame rates, detailed resolutions and minimal input lag. To fully experience these advancements, it’s crucial to use a gaming monitor with high resolution, a wide colour gamut and fast response times.

As part of our collaboration with Samsung, I received the Odyssey OLED G8 during the development of The First Descendant, and what stood out to me was the monitor’s awesome display quality — colour accuracy, expressions and its quick response time. The monitor delivers colours and contrast with a high level of precision, which was crucial for developing the game. The 0.03ms (GTG) response time made a noticeable difference during our demonstrations as well.[1]

“[With the Odyssey OLED G8,] You get two distinct display experiences with a single monitor—16:9 for working and 21:9 for playing”

– Wi Sinwook, Lead World Concept Artist, Environmental Concept Design team, Nexon Games

Wi: As a World Concept Artist, I constantly ask myself, “How can I best convey the immersive universe to players?” I want players to experience every detail of the environments and even the subtle expressions of the characters as they were intended. For that, a display accurately reproduces colours and fine details is crucial. When players can see the subtle nuances in shading and the vibrant colours, it significantly enhances their immersion in the game.

▲ Sinwook builds out the background concept designs for ‘The First Descendant’ using the Odyssey OLED G8.

Q. Other than picture quality, were there any other the Odyssey OLED G8 features that stood out when you were working on and demonstrating the game?

Kim: The First Descendant is a multi-platform game, available on PC (Steam) and consoles. The fact that the Odyssey OLED G8 supports up to three external inputs[2], was especially helpful when we were testing across the different platforms. The sleek, metal design also saved space and complemented the game’s sci-fi aesthetic.

▲ Junhwan demonstrates the console version of ‘The First Descendant’ on the Odyssey OLED G8. The Odyssey OLED G8 offers enhanced convenience with 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, 1 DisplayPort 1.4 and a USB hub.

Wi: Working on the design and demonstrating the game on the Odyssey OLED G8, I found the gameplay smoother and more comfortable compared to my previous monitor. The colours and contrast were balanced and accurate, even on the big screen.

I also really appreciated the ability to switch the screen ratio between 16:9 and 21:9 with just a single setting change. Normally, I avoid wide monitors due to the viewing angle, but the Odyssey OLED G8 made it convenient to switch between ratios for different tasks — 16:9 for working and 21:9 for demonstrating the game. The big advantage is that you get two distinct display experiences with a single monitor.

▲ The Odyssey OLED G8’s Game Bar allows users to switch between 21:9 and 16:9 screen ratios, enabling them to enjoy games in their preferred ratio.

– Junhwan Kim, Lead Programmer, Engine Program team, Nexon Games

Q. What features of the Odyssey OLED G8 do you think will elevate the experience for The First Descendant players?

Kim: The First Descendant is the world’s first HDR10+ GAMING title. We collaborated with Samsung to implement this technology in our game, optimising peak brightness of the monitor and supporting standard HDR without the need for manual adjustments[3]. Playing The First Descendant on the Odyssey monitor with HDR10+ GAMING[4] allows you to experience the game’s vivid, high-quality graphics at their best.

Wi: Unlike my previous monitor, where colours near the edges tended to darken, the Odyssey OLED G8 maintained consistent brightness across the entire screen. The thin frame and bezel also made it easier to focus on the game.

▲ The Odyssey OLED G8’s slim metal design and Core Lighting+ on the back enhance user immersion and create a stylish gaming space.

Kim: I also found the Game Bar feature to be helpful. When the Odyssey OLED G8 is connected to a PC or console, it automatically calls up the Game Bar. Selecting FPS mode in the Game Bar brightens dark areas in the game, giving you an advantage over hidden enemies. Also, the sound becomes rich, further enhancing the immersion.

▲ (Left) Default Game Bar settings without a selected genre, (Right) FPS genre selected in Game Bar.

Q. Any final words for The First Descendant players?

Kim: If you’re a fan of The First Descendant, or any third-person shooter (TPS) game with high-quality graphics, the Odyssey OLED G8 is an excellent choice. It has high refresh rate, wide colour gamut and fast response time, which really enhance the gaming experience.

Wi: I’ve always debated between choosing a monitor with high resolution and refresh rate for gameplay versus one with accurate colours and contrast for development. The Odyssey OLED G8 meets both needs, so I can confidently recommend it to any gamer…or developer!

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the launch of its latest innovations in home entertainment, The Premiere 9 and The Premiere 7. These ultra-short throw projectors, designed to deliver an incredible viewing experience, transform any living space into a premium home cinema with stunning 4K resolution, immersive audio and other advanced features.

“Our commitment to Australians is to offer screens for every room that will always exceed expectations for function, form and value. While we know that Australians love premium big screen home cinema experiences; more than a quarter of Australians who live in apartments and townhouses get frustrated by appliances that take up too much space. Our new Premiere line-up provides Australians with more big screen options that deliver stunning picture quality, immersive sound and smart connectivity features in a simple, minimalist and easy-to-use form.” said Jeremy Senior, Vice President, Consumer Electronics at Samsung Australia.

Stunning Picture and Sound Quality

Samsung’s newest entries in The Premiere lineup meet the growing demand for high-quality entertainment solutions, using cutting-edge laser technology to bring the cinema experience directly to homes. The Premiere 9 features triple laser technology for enhanced color accuracy and brightness, while both models offer ultra-short throw capabilities and vibrant 4K resolution on screens up to 130 inches.[2]

With a maximum brightness of 3,450 ISO lumens[4] for The Premiere 9 and 2,500 ISO lumens for The Premiere 7, these projectors both deliver sharp and dynamic visuals.[5]

To help further enhance picture quality, The Premiere projectors are equipped with innovative AI picture enhancements, including AI Upscaling and Vision Booster. AI Upscaling ensures that content is displayed in stunning 4K resolution, regardless of its original quality, while Vision Booster is designed to automatically adjust brightness and contrast in various lighting conditions for optimal picture quality.

The built-in speakers with Dolby Atmos technology in both models provide powerful and immersive audio, creating a true home theater experience without the need for additional sound equipment. The Premiere 9 features 40W 2.2.2 channel up-firing speakers, while The Premiere 7 includes 30W 2.2ch speakers for an expansive dome of sound.

Samsung Electronics Australia has announced its new full lineup of 2021 High-Resolution monitors. This year’s portfolio delivers life-like picture quality and enhanced convenience with advanced ergonomic design, making it the perfect complement for any workspace or at-home setup.

Designed to meet the needs of today’s businesses and consumers who require excellent picture quality and comfortable, functional design, Samsung offers nine different High-Resolution monitors across three series – the S6, S7 and S8. All models deliver more than 1 billion colours for a vivid and vibrant image, enhanced by HDR 10 technology. The displays feature colour vividness and clarity through a 178-degree wide viewing angle designed for professional work environments, delivering an uncompromising viewing experience from any angle.

“As demand for higher resolution monitors continues to increase, Samsung continues to lead the market by unveiling new products that meet our customers’ needs.” Said Phil Gaut, Senior Director, Display and Memory Solutions, Samsung Australia. “Our 2021 High-Resolution lineup delivers dazzling picture quality and provides enhanced performance, all the while ensuring user comfort with a streamlined design.”

Additionally, all monitors are Intelligent Eye Care certified from TUV Rheinland, the first in the industry to receive this recognition. Adaptive Picture eye care technology is designed to optimise picture quality for any viewing environment by automatically adjusting brightness and colour temperature in response to room conditions. This ensures the most comfortable viewing experience, reducing eye strain even after extended use.

Samsung Electronics Australia has announced the release of its all new 4K Ultra Short Throw laser projector, The Premiere – providing Australians with a big picture cinematic experience in the comfort of their own home.

The Premiere will be available in 2 models; the LSP7T single laser projector offering up to 120-inch screen size and the LSP9T which boasts triple laser technology with an up to 130 inch image size.¹

The Premiere LSP9T is the world’s first HDR10+ certified projector, delivering revolutionary contrast and detail from bright and dark scenes with a peak brightness of up to 2,800 ANSI lumens².

“It’s no secret that Australians want the ultimate in-home entertainment and big screen experience. The Premiere offers a massive 130-inchesof 4K picture quality from its innovative ultra-short throw triple laser projection technology, recreating the experience of the movies at home. With its compact design and big sound, if you’re looking for a truly cinematic experience this is the ideal projector for your theatre or living room.”

“We’re committed to providing Australians with a rich and diverse portfolio of AV products that meet the changing tastes and experiences of households – we’re excited to revolutionise the projector category with The Premiere,” said Jeremy Senior, Vice President of Consumer Electronics, Samsung Australia.

With its ultra-short throw laser technology, The Premiere can be positioned up close to the wall1 – allowing the sleek and compact design to neatly fit into a living room arrangement, and also allow for the unit to be moved easily away from the wall to adjust the screen size. Setup is quick and easy with no obtrusive installations.

With 2,200 lumens of brightness in the LSP7T and 2,800 in the LSP9T, The Premiere delivers incredible brightness with defining detail.² The Premiere also supports Filmmaker Mode – the first of its kind for a projector – which helps remove motion smoothing and other post-processing treatments allowing Aussies to watch movies as the creators intended

While The Premiere is bright and versatile enough to be used on a white wall in a semi-lit room, for the best picture quality experience it’s recommended to be paired with a CLR projection screen from Elite Screens.⁴ Using a CLR screen designed for ultra-short throw projectors absorbs ambient light while also reduces ceiling reflections, thus maximising the contrast and clarity of the image for the best experience possible.

The Premiere LSP9T boasts two built-in woofers, two tweeters and Samsung’s Acoustic Beam technology, providing powerful room-filling surround sound whether viewers are enjoying their favourite TV show, movie, or sports game.

This smart projector also comes equipped with Samsung’s Smart TV hub as well as a TV tuner, plus mobile connectivity features such as Tap View and Mobile Mirroring.3

Designed to fit seamlessly into your space with its premium and compact design, The Premiere looks great even when it is switched off, with no black screen left behind. The textile finish by Kvadrat delivers a stylish and minimalist design that blends into a variety of living room settings and arrangements.

The Premiere also comes with Samsung’s built-in voice assistant Bixby and Amazon’s Alexa, allowing you to control the projector using only your voice.⁵ While Samsung’s built-in Game Mode takes gaming action to a new level delivering smooth images and lightning-fast motion, minimising input lag so you can immerse yourself in the action on the big screen.

The Premiere builds on Samsung’s expanding range of lifestyle TVs, including the newly released outdoor TV, The Terrace along with The Frame, The Serif and The Sero.

The Premiere is available from today at leading retailers and online at www.samsung.com.au

Samsung Electronics Australia has today expanded its lifestyle television offering with the launch of the Serif TV, a new category of Samsung TV that delivers a completely new format in design, functionality, and aesthetic for Australian homes.

Designed to create a focal point in the décor of the home, the Serif TV was developed through a collaboration with two of the world’s most esteemed industrial designers, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. The Paris-based Bouroullec brothers specialise in creating furniture through their approach to industrial design.

The iconic “I” shape profile of the Serif beautifully integrates into your personal style and interior décor. And, with its seamless and harmonious design you now have the freedom to place your TV anywhere in a living space either using the metal stand (included with the product) or placed on a counter or traditional TV stand.

“Serif TV is a completely new way for Australians to think about how televisions can play a role in the décor of the home as it combines brilliance in industrial design, the latest in Samsung QLED panel technology, and a format that delivers a harmonious integration with its surrounds,” said Hass Mahdi, Director for Audio Visual, Samsung Electronics Australia. “The Serif extends Samsung’s evolving lifestyle TV range and builds on the success of The Frame, as well as our wider QLED 4K and 8K TV ranges.”

QLED Picture Quality

In addition to its harmonious design, the Serif harnesses Samsung’s advanced QLED technology to offer stunning picture quality, delivering remarkable colour with incredible brightness and vibrancy. The inclusion of support for HDR10+ video formats optimises the contrast of each scene, ensuring the viewer can see the clearest and crispest details in a range of natural and artificial lighting conditions.

Ambient Mode

The Serif panel also offers an update to Samsung’s iconic Ambient Mode function which transforms the TV panel when switched off from normal viewing mode.* Ambient Mode on the Serif offers two exclusive Bouroullec created designs (Fabric and Leaf) which are available in five different colours (blue/black, white, salmon, olive, and light blue).

With Serif TV’s latest Ambient Mode features, customers can analyse the colour and pattern of its surroundings to display complementary imagery and themes. Customers can also choose to display a range of images from six categories or simply show the time or the latest weather updates.

*Ambient Mode performance may vary depending on where the TV is installed including wall designs, patterns or colours.

Samsung Smart TV

While offering the benefits and user functionality that is synonymous with Samsung’s Smart TV Hub, Serif TV introduces the use of Near Field Communication (NFC) which enables users to play music from their compatible smartphone by placing their device on the TV.* By simply resting their compatible Android smartphone on the right of the Serif’s top panel to connect, users can begin streaming their favourite tunes to the Serif’s powerful 40W 4ch speakers.

Offering Bixby, Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Apple Airplay 2 functionality, the Serif also enables Australians to control their SmartThings-enabled devices directly from its screen, which acts as a control centre to manage smart appliances and security functions in the home.**

The Samsung Serif comes in an immaculate white finish and two sizes – 55-inches and 43-inches.

*This feature works with all Android devices that support Near Field Communication (NFC) wireless information sharing. Connects using Bluetooth v5.0.

**SmartThings is compatible with selected devices. Please see samsung.com/au/SmartThings/.

Samsung Electronics Australia has today announced the launch of its 2019 home entertainment range, including new QLED 4K and Australia’s first 8K TVs. The 2019 QLED range features more screen size options, stunning picture quality enhancements, stunning colours from wider viewing angles, exciting new design elements and intuitive smart TV upgrades.

Jeremy Senior, Head of Consumer Electronics at Samsung Australia said: “Our 2019 home entertainment range has been designed for Australians who want the best combination of picture and sound quality, smart TV capabilities and design.

“Samsung Electronics has been the world’s number one TV manufacturer for 13 consecutive years1. During this time, our TVs have continued to raise the bar in an effort to deliver the best in home entertainment.

“Big screen TVs have become the norm in many Australian homes and with bigger screens comes the need for clearer, more detailed pictures. We need to continue to deliver a premium picture quality to match the size of these televisions. We’re excited to be the first to bring 8K technology into Australian homes through our QLED 8K range delivering detail, depth and immersion like never before2.”

Picture

The 2019 QLED range is anchored by Quantum Dot technology which can maintain colour integrity even at high levels of brightness – without looking washed out. The range also incorporates HDR10+ and Ultra Bright technology3 to manage the TV’s contrast and colour. Brightness levels are optimised to help ensure content is displayed beautifully and consistently in almost any lighting conditions. Glare is actively reduced by Samsung’s enhanced Anti-Glare technology, featured on the Q80 and above QLED TVs, helping Australians to enjoy an immersive viewing experience at any time of day – even in sun-filled rooms.

As part of Samsung’s commitment to continually improve its QLED technology, Q80 and above QLED TV models4 now feature Wide Viewing Angle technology. This innovation introduces a new panel layer to reflect light further outwards from the ‘sweet spot’ directly in front of the TV, reducing colour shift and blooming effects to viewers at extreme angles at the sides of the screen. In addition Direct Full Array Elite is now available in more QLED TVs than ever before, being introduced on the 2019 Q75 and above models5. Direct Full Array Elite allows for precise backlighting control when paired with advanced picture mastering algorithms such as those produced by Samsung’s Quantum Processor, providing viewers with deep, rich black levels for colours that truly come alive.

Smart

The 2019 TV range is the most intelligent Samsung has ever produced, leveraging Samsung’s global market leadership in semiconductor technology to produce the Quantum Processor with AI technology to introduce a series of new features designed to optimise the viewing experience for Australians. This includes the addition of Intelligent Mode to adjust content, screen brightness, sound and volume levels to the scene being played as well as the ambient light levels in the room.

Samsung’s AI Upscaling uses a database of millions of low- and high-resolution video clips analysed by machine learning to create unique formulae to detect and restore edges, recreate unique textures to help reduce visible picture noise from low resolution content sources6. Adaptive Brightness Control uses an inbuilt ambient brightness sensor to detect light levels in the room and adjust the brightness of the content on-screen for a great viewing experience at any time of day. Adaptive Sound analyses frequencies scene-by-scene to optimise the balance between music, dialogue and action – as well as using the in-built equaliser to regulate volume, particularly handy for loud advertisement breaks in free to air content.

This new innovation is in addition to Samsung’s established and critically-acclaimed Smart TV platform, which automatically recognises compatible sources like a range of gaming consoles, set-top boxes, and 4K Blu-ray players, enabling users to seamlessly control them using the elegant ‘One Remote Control’7.

Taking this intelligence further, 2019 RU8000 and above TVs8 work with Bixby, Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and Apple Airplay 2 (coming second half of 2019)9 so you can control your connected home, your way.

The new Bixby feature gives users the ability to easily access the content they want from popular applications such as YouTube and Netflix via voice command10, including using the Google search engine to perform conversational Q&A functionality helping users search for content they might like based on their previous viewing habits and preferences.

As announced at CES 2019, Samsung will take the user experience to the next level by offering Apple TV support on 2019 Samsung Smart TV models. Support on 2018 Samsung Smart TVs will be made available via firmware update in the second half of 2019. Once available, with the new Apple TV app on Samsung Smart TVs, Samsung customers will be able access their existing iTunes library and browse the iTunes Store to buy or rent from a selection of hundreds of thousands of movies and TV episodes — including a very large selection of 4K HDR movies.

“We believe in offering Australians choice by providing a range of solutions so they can pick the one best suited to their lifestyle,” said Senior. “Whether that’s choosing between 8K or 4K, selecting their favourite voice assistant, or exploring which content to settle into after a long day.”

Style

As TVs grow larger, so does their presence in the room. This year Samsung continues to offering more functionality for when the TV is on and when it is not being used. Ambient Mode returns to the entire QLED range, offering a greater variety of image and information options, giving Australians more ways to ensure their TV blends into their environment. A vast new array of themes are now also available, which allows users to decorate their indoor environment and atmosphere based on their preferences. Australians can now customise Ambient Mode to their surroundings by taking a photo on their smartphone of their furniture, and watching the colours come alive. An automatic light control sensor mounted on the TV provides optimal brightness for the surrounding environment to help reduce power consumption.

For those looking for a clean set up with no more messy cables, Samsung’s unique One Clear Cable will be available on selected models11, combining the source cables and power into one thin, translucent five-metre cord that, when connected to the One Connect Box, offers more freedom to decide where and how to place the TV. Adding to the premium design ethos is the Slim Fit Wall-Mount, which hides the body of the wall-mount inside the TV chassis helping rest the wall-mounted TV snug to the wall – allowing it to seamlessly blend into the room around it.

Samsung’s One Remote Control has also received an upgrade, it continues to express its simple features for ease of use and now includes a dedicated button to access Netflix, Amazon Prime and the TV’s Web Browser.

Soundbars

Following the success of the award winning12 N950 soundbar, Samsung is expanding its range of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X capable soundbars with the Q Series. The Q70 soundbar introduces brand new innovation, combining Samsung’s innovative Acoustic Beam technology and object-based sound to deliver true Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sound from only the single soundbar. The listening experience from a Samsung soundbar is also enhanced via Samsung’s new Adaptive Sound, 4K HDR10+ pass through and availability to pair with wireless rear speakers on every soundbar in the range13.

“Vision and sound are both essential ingredients in creating the ultimate home viewing experience,” explained Senior. “At Samsung, we believe our innovations in both categories can be combined to create an immersive experience that delivers Australians’ favourite content.”

The 2019 Q Series Soundbars are compatible with Amazon Alexa to help you control your TV using the SmartThings App so you can manage your entertainment using only your voice.

It’s not always just about movies – all models in the 2019 Q Series Soundbar range feature a dedicated Game Mode to help players feel part of the game, helping them to hear their opponents coming thanks to clear directional sound. This perfectly complements the 2019 TV range’s own Game Mode, which reduces input lag without causing a dip in brightness. Combined, these are designed to give players the ultimate competitive gaming edge.

Samsung’s innovative approach to audio technology begins at the world-class Audio R&D Lab in Los Angeles, California. Samsung’s Q Series Soundbars have also received testing by harman / kardon, further continuing the collaboration between the two brands, applying harman / kardon’s 65 years of audio expertise to Samsung’s cutting-edge audio technology.

Samsung Electronics Australia has today announced local pricing and availability of its 2019 Q900 QLED 8K television range. The introduction of QLED 8K breaks new ground for Samsung’s ultra-premium TV and home entertainment offering, delivering beautiful design and supported with the most advanced picture quality in its portfolio.

The Q900 range will be offered in 82-inch, 75-inch and 65-inch screen sizes, designed to meet Australian demand for larger screen formats that also provide the incredible performance customers have come to expect from Samsung.

Pre-orders for the Samsung QLED 8K range will open this Thursday (March 14), before availability to purchase in retail stores nationally from April 1, 2019. Customers who pre-order¹ any Samsung QLED 8K from Samsung’s online store will receive a bonus Samsung Galaxy S10+ smartphone valued at $1,499 (RRP).

Jeremy Senior, Head of Consumer Electronics at Samsung Australia said:

“Samsung’s first QLED 8K range reinforces our commitment to delivering the best possible viewing experience for our customers.“Samsung’s QLED 8K offering will set a new standard in what Australians will expect from our ultra-premium offering in home entertainment and is truly something you need to see to understand.

“Australians are buying bigger TVs each year and with a larger screen size comes the need for a clearer, more detailed picture. Samsung QLED 8K technology delivers our best possible viewing experience for the large screen format.

“We’re excited to announce today’s pre-order offer that includes our flagship mobile Samsung Galaxy S10+, which brings together the best of Samsung’s mobile and TV technology.”

To achieve 8K resolution, the Samsung 8K QLED produces four times more pixels than a 4K UHD TV and 16 times more pixels than a full HD TV.

The Samsung QLED 8K integrates HDR10+ and Ultra Bright III to manage the TV’s contrast and colour. Brightness levels are optimised to help ensure content is displayed beautifully and consistently in almost any lighting conditions. HDR10+ also minimises the impact of glare and reflection in many of Australia’s sun-filled rooms.

Samsung QLED 8K comes with AI Upscaling that uses the power of machine learning to analyse and upscale content to 8K resolution², to help optimise the viewing experience. Despite the limited native 8K content currently available, the 8K Quantum Processor can recognise and upscale all content whether through a streaming service, set-top box, HDMI, USB or even mobile mirroring to appear in 8K resolution. In addition, the QLED 8K range features Direct Full Array Elite for enhanced contrast and precise backlighting control.

As Samsung’s flagship TV, the QLED 8K will also include the unique lifestyle features available across the QLED range that enable consumers to get the most from their TV, while maintaining our highest quality in picture and sound. Additional features include:

– One Clear Cable³
, an all-in-one clear cable that frees TV space from unsightly cords. Combining the optical cable and power into one thin five-metre cord, offering more freedom to decide where and how to place the TV.

– Ambient Mode, integrate the TV screen to suit a rooms interior décor and design. Display art or photos, or time and weather. Or take a picture of the wall and set it onscreen, so the TV seamlessly blends in while it is not on.
