The Virtual Home website is an interactive online experience that lets visitors explore a SmartThings-connected home without downloading an app or connecting any products[4]. Accessible through web browsers, Virtual Home offers a glimpse into how SmartThings can help simplify daily life.

Upon entering Virtual Home, visitors are greeted by a SmartThings dashboard featuring Home, Devices, Life, and Routines tabs.[5]

The Home screen provides an overview of a connected household. Users can check the status of devices connected to SmartThings throughout the home, from the air conditioner in the bedroom and the curtains by the window to the robot vacuum in the living room. Then, 3D Map View allows users to navigate the virtual home and explore devices room by room.[6]

It’s a simple way to understand not just what SmartThings is, but what it feels like to use.[7]

The Life tab is designed around these kinds of practical benefits. The tab provides easy access to features and services like Energy,[8] and Pet Care[9]. For example, right at the top is SmartThings Energy, which helps users monitor energy consumption across connected devices, providing visibility into power usage, estimated utility costs and savings generated through AI Energy Mode[10].

Sometimes, a connected home isn’t about controlling devices. It’s about staying connected to the people who matter most. Family Care4 in the Life tab, can help users keep an eye on loved ones from afar by using activity data from connected Samsung appliances and mobile devices.[11]

Within Virtual Home, for example, users can see that “Mum” has started her day normally, while “Father-in-law” has not shown expected activity patterns. In this way, the feature can provide additional peace of mind and encourage users to check in when something seems unusual.

During the panel, Hon Pak, Head of the Digital Health Team for the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, joined four other speakers: David Lee, Head of Samsung Next; Mike McSherry, CEO of Xealth; Alina Su, CEO of Generation Lab; and Michael Dubrovsky, CEO of SiPhox Health. Together, they presented a blueprint for the future of healthcare to an audience of approximately 1,000 global attendees.

Serving as the moderator, David Lee emphasised the critical role of partnership. “The future of health cannot be built by one company alone,” Lee said. “It must be forged through an open ecosystem of collaboration among diverse innovators.”

Building an Open Health Ecosystem

Samsung possesses a diverse portfolio of devices and platforms, spanning from semiconductors to mobile phones, wearables, home appliances and TVs. The company leverages its economies of scale to cultivate a robust, collaborative ecosystem with numerous partners across each of its business sectors.

By integrating Samsung devices with partner solutions within this open ecosystem, Xealth, Generation Lab and SiPhox Health are accelerating the realisation of connected care. This healthcare vision aims to help users lead healthier, more vibrant lives through proactive wellness management powered by Samsung’s connected device ecosystem.

Hon Pak highlighted the scale of Samsung’s reach during the discussion. “Samsung Health supports more than 77 million monthly active users,[1] and the SmartThings platform connects 460 million users,”[2] Pak said.

Samsung holds a strong advantage as a trusted brand within the household, the central setting for daily life and wellness. “By connecting our device ecosystem around the home via SmartThings, we can innovate the health experience where it matters most, at a time when health is shifting to the home — a space in which prevention can happen at scale,” Pak added.

To support this transition, Samsung has integrated a wide variety of devices — including home appliances, TVs and compatible third-party devices — into its SmartThings platform. This enables a broad spectrum of services that range from personalised automation routines to family and pet care.

Accelerating Innovation Through Partnerships

The panelists identified Samsung’s established ecosystem and open approach to collaboration as key strengths.

Alina Su of Generation Lab emphasized the value of this partnership. “What has been most exciting is Samsung’s genuine openness and distribution. There’s real scale and technical capability — but there’s also a willingness to collaborate, to co-create and to move quickly with partners,” Su said. “When you combine that with the devices people already use every day, you can bring innovation to people’s lives far faster than you could independsently.”

Michael Dubrovsky of SiPhox Health also explained the benefits of the collaboration. “Samsung brings the device ecosystem already living in people’s homes and on their bodies,” Dubrovsky said. “SiPhox adds the diagnostic layer that has always been missing from that picture. Together, continuous device data and continuous biomarker data create a truly complete health picture that has never existed outside a clinical setting.”

Currently, Generation Lab provides a solution to help users easily check biological age and actively manage aging at home, while SiPhox Health offers a service that enables active health management through hospital-grade blood tests in each household.

Mike McSherry of Xealth shared a vision for providing a seamless, continuous healthcare solution by bridging the gap between clinical care in hospitals and daily wellness management through deep integration with Samsung.

Empowering Open Collaborations and Ensuring Robust Security

In addition to strategic partner collaborations, Samsung has built an open ecosystem for the wider developer and researcher community. Utilising the Samsung Health[3] Software Development Kit (SDK) Suite, they can easily create innovative wellness services leveraging advanced sensor technology and the health platform. This allows Samsung Health users to experience useful new features more quickly.

Protecting these experiences is Samsung Knox, integrated across various consumer touchpoints, such as mobile devices, home appliances and TVs. With Knox, users can confidently manage their sensitive information within the Samsung ecosystem.

Looking at the next five years of healthcare in the context of the AI era, Pak concluded, “A daily companion that knows who I am, as well as what I need and when, will help me achieve my health and wellness goals seamlessly through lifestyle behaviours and connected innovative partner services.”

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced that its smart home platform, SmartThings[1], now supports Matter 1.5,the global smart home standard, enabling it to support Matter-compatible cameras.

From January 2026, Samsung will roll out SmartThings updates to expand its existing list of Matter devices, including lights, door locks, switches, and various sensors, by adding cameras. With this update, the SmartThings smart home platform continues to expand its support for hundreds of Matter devices.

“Samsung aims to ensure that products and services built on different brands and protocols deliver a unified experience through SmartThings,” said Jaeyeon Jung, Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings Team at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to expand our support for industry standards, including Matter, and further strengthen collaboration to drive new customer experiences.”

Enhanced Security and Safety with Matter 1.5 Camera Support

Matter 1.5, announced by the Connectivity Standard Alliance (CSA) in November, adds camera support as well as enhanced features for closure operations, including compatible blinds, awnings, and garage doors -along with improved energy management.

The industry is particularly focused on the inclusion of a camera standard, as cameras are an essential part of any smart home ecosystem. Matter 1.5 supports a wide range of camera use cases including indoor and outdoor security cameras, video doorbells, and more. It may also support features such as live video streaming, two-way communication, motion detection, event history, and pan-tilt-zoom controls on select devices.

Expanded User Choice and Enhanced Developer Convenience

With SmartThings supporting the Matter standard, camera manufacturers can now launch Matter-based cameras that seamlessly integrate with SmartThings without the need to customise a separate API (Application Programming Interface).

Samsung has collaborated with leading global IoT device makers, including Aqara, Eve, and Ulticam, to develop Matter cameras. These products are expected to roll out in select global markets starting in March 2026[2].

SmartThings has already partnered with Aqara, Arlo, Hue, Ring, and others to provide a wide array of smart home camera experiences across various protocols and connection methods. With this update, users will have even more options, as Matter cameras can now be integrated easily into the SmartThings ecosystem.

Integrating cameras with SmartThings helps users build a safer and more convenient smart home tailored to their lifestyle. This integration enables essential functions such as monitoring the home environment while away, checking on the well-being of pets, and configuring customised routines by connecting with smart doorbells.

Strengthening Industry Leadership With the Broadest Support for Matter Devices

Through the WWST (Works With SmartThings) certification program, SmartThings now supports more than 4,700 models from over 390 partner brands. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has unveiled its latest laundry innovations at IFA 2025 in Berlin, including a new Bespoke AI Washer with A-65% energy efficiency[1] and the second-generation Bespoke AI Laundry Combo[2]. These new models demonstrate Samsung’s ongoing commitment to delivering energy savings, intelligent features and stylish designs that align with the evolving needs of users around the world.

“With the new A-65% washer, Samsung has pushed the boundaries of convenience and energy efficiency once again,” said Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the R&D Team, Digital Appliances (DA) Business at Samsung Electronics. “With AI-driven features like the new AI Wash+, innovative hardware upgrades, and a wider choice of design options, we aim to deliver personalised experiences that reduce effort and maximise satisfaction.”

A-65% Bespoke AI Washer: A New Milestone in Energy Efficiency

Following the A-55% Bespoke AI Washer[3] introduced at IFA 2024, Samsung will unveil its new A-65% washer¹, which consumes 65% less energy than the minimum energy efficiency requirements for a Class A rating in the European market¹. This elevated performance is achieved through enhanced motor efficiency, improved circulation, and refined washing algorithms.

The new washer also features the enhanced AI Wash+[4], which now intelligently adapts to an expanded range of fabric types, including outdoor wear and denim. By detecting the weight, soiling level and fabric type, AI Wash+ automatically adjusts the amount of water and detergent, along with the wash time to deliver optimal results.

This model will feature Samsung’s intuitive 7” touch screen for an elevated user experience with innovative features and functionality, as well as seamless integration with SmartThings[5].

To complement the washer, Samsung is also introducing a matching dryer that includes AI Dry+, which detects fabric type[6] and moisture level to optimise drying time.

Second-Gen Bespoke AI Laundry Combo: Taking Convenience One Step Further

At IFA 2025, Samsung has also showcased the second-generation Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, building on the popularity of the globally launched first-generation model. First launched to the Korean market earlier this year, this new model exemplifies the latest advancements in Samsung’s AI-powered laundry solutions.

Retaining the same external dimensions, the updated Combo delivers a 3kg increase in drying capacity[7]. These improvements were made possible through structural enhancements, including a more densely arranged heat exchanger fin layout that expands the heat transfer surface area and a more powerful preheating capability from the heater system.

The second-generation model also introduces a range of practical upgrades aimed at enhancing everyday usability. Upgraded from the first generation’s AI Wash & Dry, the second-generation model’s AI Wash & Dry + adds denim and outdoor to the list of detectable fabric types.[8] Auto Open Door+ – a feature unique to the Combo – automatically opens the door after washing or drying to help reduce moisture and odour, while blowing air into the tub after wash-only cycles to lower humidity and keep the interior fresh. The model also offers optimised cycles for modern routines, including a 79-minute Super Speed cycle, a 49-minute single garment cycle, and a 39-minute shirt cycle[9]. To make navigating these options easier, the 7” touchscreen features a new Dial Theme interface that prominently displays six frequently used cycles in a clean, circular layout for more intuitive control.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has announced the expansion of its proprietary One UI platform to its home appliance lineup, delivering a unified and intuitive software experience across compatible smartphones, TVs and now smart appliances. As a part of this initiative, some smart appliances will receive software updates for up to 7 years after launching[1], starting from 2024-launched home appliances being updated in September[2].

A Unified Software Experience Across Connected Samsung Products

With One UI, Samsung is unifying the user experience for the product categories of mobile devices, TVs and home appliances through the application of consistent design elements and functionality. This includes Apps & Services like Bixby[3], Gallery, and Samsung TV Plus[4], which are being made available across various types of screens to enable seamless device interaction and media consumption.

Device Connectivity is also enhanced through SmartThings[5], integrating the home’s devices into a unified ecosystem with easy access to helpful services like Family Care, Pet Care and Home Care[6]. When it comes to Common UI, users will get the benefit of familiar interfaces like Now Brief[7], which delivers personalised and relevant information at a glance. Now Brief offers family members a curated selection of useful content, including daily weather updates, family schedules, tailored recipes, and home insights such as how much time is left on the washing machine.

Up to 7-Year Software Support for Select Smart Appliances

Wi-Fi-enabled Samsung home appliances will be eligible for software updates for up to seven years after launching, starting from models launched in 2024[8]. This supports Samsung’s commitment to provide good value by enhancing functionality and prolonging security updates throughout the product lifecycle.

From September 2025, eligible 2024 launched models[9] will receive various software updates that bring enhancements in usability, intelligence and security:

• Upgraded Security: Knox Matrix[10], Samsung’s security solution extending protection across compatible devices based on private block chain technology, will be extended to compatible Wi-Fi[11] enabled refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioners[12]. These products will be protected through Knox Trust Chain[13], which allows connected appliances to monitor each other’s security status. Screen-equipped models like the Bespoke AI Family Hub + French Door Refrigerator, AI Home Side By Side Refrigerator with a 9-inch AI Home screen and Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo with a 7-inch AI Home screen will also receive updates like encrypted Credential Sync and Passkey support. These screen appliances will also be updated with the Knox Security dashboard provided on 2025 models, which allow users to easily monitor the security status of connected appliances in real time.

• Smarter Features: Select Family Hub appliances and refrigerators with 9-inch AI Home screens will benefit from the upgraded AI Vision Inside applied to 2025 products, which now supports the recognition of frequently used packaged foods in addition to a larger number of fresh foods[14]. Bixby[15] is also upgraded to support Voice ID, allowing it to recognise user voices and provide personalised experiences on shared devices. Users can also enable Bixby quickly and intuitively by simply double tapping on the screen.

• Refined Interface: A refreshed One UI design — first seen on 2025 appliances — will come to 2024 models like refrigerators, washers, and ranges, offering intuitive navigation and region-specific settings.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd is expanding it Home Appliances Remote Management (HRM) service globally, enhancing the remote diagnostic and troubleshooting experience for smart appliances users around the world. The service is now active across 122 countries including Australia, with support for 17 languages, enabling seamless support for a wide global customer base.

HRM is a service that connects SmartThings-connected appliances to Samsung’s service network, maintaining a continuous record of device conditions and enabling real-time monitoring through the service center[1]. With customer consent, advisors at service centers can remotely access diagnostics data – including refrigerators’ inner temperature levels, dryers’ moisture levels, or air conditioner cooling performance – and provide solutions or guidance to solve issues[2].

HRM has been used in remote customer support since 2020 in Korea, and was piloted across 10 countries in 2024. This year, the service has officially rolled out globally across 122 countries, supporting refrigerators and washing machines. To facilitate successful global rollout, Samsung has expanded HRM’s multilingual support from English and Korean to 17 languages in total – including Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Russian, and Czech[3].

Enhancing Service for Screen Appliances

In line with the expansion of screen-equipped appliances like Bespoke refrigerators and washing machines, Samsung has also introduced a screen-sharing feature to enhance diagnostic capabilities. For various screens of 7-inch, 9-inch, and Family Hubs[4], Australian users can share their device screens in real time with service center advisors, allowing diagnosis of display-related issues, app malfunctions or multimedia playback problems. First introduced in 2021 with Family Hub refrigerators, screen sharing expanded to refrigerators with the 9-inch screen in July 2025, with support for washing machines with the 7-inch screen to follow in September[5].

Immediate Solutions and Reduced Service Visits through Remote Assistance

Samsung’s HRM service will help to improve the efficiency of customer care by enabling real-time remote solutions for simple product issues that previously required in-home technician visits. For instance, if a customer is reporting that their washing machine’s buttons are not responding, an advisor will be able to diagnose whether the Child Lock setting is active through the HRM system. With simple guidance on how to disable the setting, the problem could be solved without a technician visit.

In cases when an on-site visit is ultimately necessary, HRM improves the experience by allowing technicians to review detailed diagnostic data in advance. They are able to arrive at the site prepared with the correct parts and tools, reducing repeat visits and significantly shortening repair time. This makes HRM especially effective in regional towns where traditional technician visits may face delays.

With the continued expansion of customer support solutions like HRM, Samsung is realising more convenient and efficient ways to care for home appliances – helping to reduce downtime, enhancing the user experience and setting new Samsung standards for global service. Samsung Electronics today announced that its 2025 OLED TV lineup[1] will feature NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility, helping to deliver ultra-smooth gameplay and low latency, to meet the needs of gaming enthusiasts worldwide.

New research reveals Samsung smart devices make everyday living wonder-filled

The nationwide roll-out of Samsung’s new AI-powered home appliances and audio visual solutions coincides with the launch of new research which reveals over a third (37%) of Australians believe smart devices bring wonder to their homes alongside art (36%) and beautiful home décor (46%)[5].

For half of Australians (50%), wonder emerges with the convenience of operating devices remotely, while for 44 per-cent of single parents with kids, it’s the potential to reduce energy bills via their smart devices[6].

With an average of 24 connected devices in the average Australian home[7], two-thirds (67%) believe AI-assisted devices could further help to reduce the daily mental load and give them time back to relax.[8] In fact, two thirds (68%) of Australians admit to thinking about chores up to four times a day[9], when they’d rather be relaxing in front of the TV (83%), listening to music (61%), or spending time with loved ones (60%)[10].

Neo QLED: 4K AI Technology delivers crisp clarity in every scene

Samsung’s 2025 Neo QLED 4K line-up is the most expansive yet, including four model series – QN90F[33] (98”, 85”, 75”, 65”), QN85F (85”, 75”, 65”, 55), QN80F (100”) and QN70F (85”, 75”, 65”, 55”) – all featuring Quantum Matrix Mini LEDs for stellar brightness and accurate colour across every scene.

The flagship QN90F features an upgraded NQ4 AI Gen3 Processor[34], which ensures that content looks its best – improving picture and sound as it plays[35].
