Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced that its smart home platform, SmartThings[1], now supports Matter 1.5,the global smart home standard, enabling it to support Matter-compatible cameras.

From January 2026, Samsung will roll out SmartThings updates to expand its existing list of Matter devices, including lights, door locks, switches, and various sensors, by adding cameras. With this update, the SmartThings smart home platform continues to expand its support for hundreds of Matter devices.

“Samsung aims to ensure that products and services built on different brands and protocols deliver a unified experience through SmartThings,” said Jaeyeon Jung, Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings Team at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to expand our support for industry standards, including Matter, and further strengthen collaboration to drive new customer experiences.”

Enhanced Security and Safety with Matter 1.5 Camera Support

Matter 1.5, announced by the Connectivity Standard Alliance (CSA) in November, adds camera support as well as enhanced features for closure operations, including compatible blinds, awnings, and garage doors -along with improved energy management.

The industry is particularly focused on the inclusion of a camera standard, as cameras are an essential part of any smart home ecosystem. Matter 1.5 supports a wide range of camera use cases including indoor and outdoor security cameras, video doorbells, and more. It may also support features such as live video streaming, two-way communication, motion detection, event history, and pan-tilt-zoom controls on select devices.

Expanded User Choice and Enhanced Developer Convenience

With SmartThings supporting the Matter standard, camera manufacturers can now launch Matter-based cameras that seamlessly integrate with SmartThings without the need to customise a separate API (Application Programming Interface).

Samsung has collaborated with leading global IoT device makers, including Aqara, Eve, and Ulticam, to develop Matter cameras. These products are expected to roll out in select global markets starting in March 2026[2].

SmartThings has already partnered with Aqara, Arlo, Hue, Ring, and others to provide a wide array of smart home camera experiences across various protocols and connection methods. With this update, users will have even more options, as Matter cameras can now be integrated easily into the SmartThings ecosystem.

Integrating cameras with SmartThings helps users build a safer and more convenient smart home tailored to their lifestyle. This integration enables essential functions such as monitoring the home environment while away, checking on the well-being of pets, and configuring customised routines by connecting with smart doorbells.

Strengthening Industry Leadership With the Broadest Support for Matter Devices

A-65% Bespoke AI Washer: A New Milestone in Energy Efficiency

Following the A-55% Bespoke AI Washer[3] introduced at IFA 2024, Samsung will unveil its new A-65% washer¹, which consumes 65% less energy than the minimum energy efficiency requirements for a Class A rating in the European market¹. This elevated performance is achieved through enhanced motor efficiency, improved circulation, and refined washing algorithms.

The new washer also features the enhanced AI Wash+[4], which now intelligently adapts to an expanded range of fabric types, including outdoor wear and denim. By detecting the weight, soiling level and fabric type, AI Wash+ automatically adjusts the amount of water and detergent, along with the wash time to deliver optimal results.

This model will feature Samsung’s intuitive 7” touch screen for an elevated user experience with innovative features and functionality, as well as seamless integration with SmartThings[5].

To complement the washer, Samsung is also introducing a matching dryer that includes AI Dry+, which detects fabric type[6] and moisture level to optimise drying time.

Second-Gen Bespoke AI Laundry Combo: Taking Convenience One Step Further

At IFA 2025, Samsung has also showcased the second-generation Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, building on the popularity of the globally launched first-generation model. First launched to the Korean market earlier this year, this new model exemplifies the latest advancements in Samsung’s AI-powered laundry solutions.

Retaining the same external dimensions, the updated Combo delivers a 3kg increase in drying capacity[7]. These improvements were made possible through structural enhancements, including a more densely arranged heat exchanger fin layout that expands the heat transfer surface area and a more powerful preheating capability from the heater system.

The second-generation model also introduces a range of practical upgrades aimed at enhancing everyday usability. Upgraded from the first generation’s AI Wash & Dry, the second-generation model’s AI Wash & Dry + adds denim and outdoor to the list of detectable fabric types.[8] Auto Open Door+ – a feature unique to the Combo – automatically opens the door after washing or drying to help reduce moisture and odour, while blowing air into the tub after wash-only cycles to lower humidity and keep the interior fresh. The model also offers optimised cycles for modern routines, including a 79-minute Super Speed cycle, a 49-minute single garment cycle, and a 39-minute shirt cycle[9]. To make navigating these options easier, the 7” touchscreen features a new Dial Theme interface that prominently displays six frequently used cycles in a clean, circular layout for more intuitive control.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has announced the expansion of its proprietary One UI platform to its home appliance lineup, delivering a unified and intuitive software experience across compatible smartphones, TVs and now smart appliances. As a part of this initiative, some smart appliances will receive software updates for up to 7 years after launching[1], starting from 2024-launched home appliances being updated in September[2].

A Unified Software Experience Across Connected Samsung Products

This includes Apps & Services like Bixby[3], Gallery, and Samsung TV Plus[4], which are being made available across various types of screens to enable seamless device interaction and media consumption.

Device Connectivity is also enhanced through SmartThings[5], integrating the home’s devices into a unified ecosystem with easy access to helpful services like Family Care, Pet Care and Home Care[6]. When it comes to Common UI, users will get the benefit of familiar interfaces like Now Brief[7], which delivers personalised and relevant information at a glance. Now Brief offers family members a curated selection of useful content, including daily weather updates, family schedules, tailored recipes, and home insights such as how much time is left on the washing machine.

Up to 7-Year Software Support for Select Smart Appliances

Wi-Fi-enabled Samsung home appliances will be eligible for software updates for up to seven years after launching, starting from models launched in 2024[8]. This supports Samsung’s commitment to provide good value by enhancing functionality and prolonging security updates throughout the product lifecycle.

From September 2025, eligible 2024 launched models[9] will receive various software updates that bring enhancements in usability, intelligence and security:

• Upgraded Security: Knox Matrix[10], Samsung’s security solution extending protection across compatible devices based on private block chain technology, will be extended to compatible Wi-Fi[11] enabled refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioners[12]. These products will be protected through Knox Trust Chain[13], which allows connected appliances to monitor each other’s security status. Screen-equipped models like the Bespoke AI Family Hub + French Door Refrigerator, AI Home Side By Side Refrigerator with a 9-inch AI Home screen and Bespoke AI Heat Pump Combo with a 7-inch AI Home screen will also receive updates like encrypted Credential Sync and Passkey support. These screen appliances will also be updated with the Knox Security dashboard provided on 2025 models, which allow users to easily monitor the security status of connected appliances in real time.

• Smarter Features: Select Family Hub appliances and refrigerators with 9-inch AI Home screens will benefit from the upgraded AI Vision Inside applied to 2025 products, which now supports the recognition of frequently used packaged foods in addition to a larger number of fresh foods[14]. Bixby[15] is also upgraded to support Voice ID, allowing it to recognise user voices and provide personalised experiences on shared devices. Users can also enable Bixby quickly and intuitively by simply double tapping on the screen.

• Refined Interface: A refreshed One UI design — first seen on 2025 appliances — will come to 2024 models like refrigerators, washers, and ranges, offering intuitive navigation and region-specific settings.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd is expanding it Home Appliances Remote Management (HRM) service globally, enhancing the remote diagnostic and troubleshooting experience for smart appliances users around the world. The service is now active across 122 countries including Australia, with support for 17 languages, enabling seamless support for a wide global customer base.

HRM is a service that connects SmartThings-connected appliances to Samsung’s service network, maintaining a continuous record of device conditions and enabling real-time monitoring through the service center[1]. With customer consent, advisors at service centers can remotely access diagnostics data – including refrigerators’ inner temperature levels, dryers’ moisture levels, or air conditioner cooling performance – and provide solutions or guidance to solve issues[2].

HRM has been used in remote customer support since 2020 in Korea, and was piloted across 10 countries in 2024. This year, the service has officially rolled out globally across 122 countries, supporting refrigerators and washing machines. To facilitate successful global rollout, Samsung has expanded HRM’s multilingual support from English and Korean to 17 languages in total – including Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Russian, and Czech[3].

Enhancing Service for Screen Appliances

In line with the expansion of screen-equipped appliances like Bespoke refrigerators and washing machines, Samsung has also introduced a screen-sharing feature to enhance diagnostic capabilities. For various screens of 7-inch, 9-inch, and Family Hubs[4], Australian users can share their device screens in real time with service center advisors, allowing diagnosis of display-related issues, app malfunctions or multimedia playback problems. First introduced in 2021 with Family Hub refrigerators, screen sharing expanded to refrigerators with the 9-inch screen in July 2025, with support for washing machines with the 7-inch screen to follow in September[5].

Immediate Solutions and Reduced Service Visits through Remote Assistance

Samsung’s HRM service will help to improve the efficiency of customer care by enabling real-time remote solutions for simple product issues that previously required in-home technician visits. For instance, if a customer is reporting that their washing machine’s buttons are not responding, an advisor will be able to diagnose whether the Child Lock setting is active through the HRM system. With simple guidance on how to disable the setting, the problem could be solved without a technician visit.

In cases when an on-site visit is ultimately necessary, HRM improves the experience by allowing technicians to review detailed diagnostic data in advance. They are able to arrive at the site prepared with the correct parts and tools, reducing repeat visits and significantly shortening repair time. This makes HRM especially effective in regional towns where traditional technician visits may face delays.

With the continued expansion of customer support solutions like HRM, Samsung is realising more convenient and efficient ways to care for home appliances – helping to reduce downtime, enhancing the user experience and setting new Samsung standards for global service. As HRM reaches more countries, languages and product categories, Samsung remains committed to delivering smarter, more connected care for the homes of the future.

Samsung Electronics today announced that its 2025 OLED TV lineup[1] will feature NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility, helping to deliver ultra-smooth gameplay and low latency, to meet the needs of gaming enthusiasts worldwide.

With NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility, Samsung’s 2025 OLED TVs synchronise the TV’s refresh rate with the GPU’s frame rate, reducing screen tearing and stuttering for a seamless and immersive gaming experience.[2] Paired with Samsung’s Motion Xcelerator technology, which supports refresh rates up to 165Hz[3], gamers can enjoy exceptionally fluid visuals and sharp clarity during fast-paced action scenes.

New research reveals Samsung smart devices make everyday living wonder-filled

The nationwide roll-out of Samsung’s new AI-powered home appliances and audio visual solutions coincides with the launch of new research which reveals over a third (37%) of Australians believe smart devices bring wonder to their homes alongside art (36%) and beautiful home décor (46%)[5].

For half of Australians (50%), wonder emerges with the convenience of operating devices remotely, while for 44 per-cent of single parents with kids, it’s the potential to reduce energy bills via their smart devices[6].

With an average of 24 connected devices in the average Australian home[7], two-thirds (67%) believe AI-assisted devices could further help to reduce the daily mental load and give them time back to relax.[8] In fact, two thirds (68%) of Australians admit to thinking about chores up to four times a day[9], when they’d rather be relaxing in front of the TV (83%), listening to music (61%), or spending time with loved ones (60%)[10].

Samsung’s connected home ecosystem of Home Appliances bring ease, care and savings to Australians

Building on 50 years of home appliance innovation excellence, Samsung has launched AI Home as a transformative step forward to help Australians unlock ease of use, savings, and new ways to care for themselves and others from home. Using on-device processing with Edge AI, appliances powered by AI Home can adapt to individual routines, and deliver optimised home experiences to suit a diverse range of lifestyles.

In 2025, Samsung has integrated AI Home displays into more Bespoke AI appliances including the 809L Bespoke AI Family Hub + and 615L AI Home Side By Side Refrigerator. The AI Home screen extends the core purpose of these refrigerators by transforming them into central smart home control hubs with the ability to connect, monitor and control compatible third party devices connected through SmartThings’ Map View feature[12]. Via the AI Home screens, Australians can also use features like the refrigerators’ Daily Board to receive personalised information and better manage their day.

Complimenting the performance of 400Ws of suction power making the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra the world’s most powerful cordless stick vacuum[13] is an LED digital display. With a quick glance, Australians can see the suction level, remaining battery time, and alerts to blockages in the brush for easy maintenance[14]. With SmartThings compatibility, Australians can also manage the vacuum settings from their compatible smart phone device[15] and receive customised maintenance guides thanks to the Bespoke AI Jet Stick vacuum’s smart-self diagnosis feature.

Samsung has also applied enhanced Knox security to appliances across the line-up to enable Australians to enjoy their AI Home experience with peace of mind. In 2025, Knox Matrix’s Trust Chain feature has been applied to the 809L Bespoke AI Family Hub + and 615L AI Home Side By Side Refrigerator[16], enabling Australians to continuously monitor products’ security status in real time through a dashboard. Knox Vault has also been applied to these appliances for the first time, storing user information such as passwords and authentication information in a separate hardware chip to ensure protection.

Neo QLED: 4K AI Technology delivers crisp clarity in every scene

Samsung’s 2025 Neo QLED 4K line-up is the most expansive yet, including four model series – QN90F[33] (98”, 85”, 75”, 65”), QN85F (85”, 75”, 65”, 55), QN80F (100”) and QN70F (85”, 75”, 65”, 55”) – all featuring Quantum Matrix Mini LEDs for stellar brightness and accurate colour across every scene.

As part of the new Bespoke AI range, The Bespoke AI Jet Ultra boasts an impressive suction power of up to 400W[3] to tackle tough cleaning tasks so Australians can spend less time cleaning, and more time on the things they love. The HexaJet Motor is the key component that helps generate this high suction power. Its unique Hexagon stator structure with a second-stage diffuser and an impeller with the reduced thickness improve airflow and increase motor efficiency, thus enabling up to 400W of suction power. Plus, the motor allows the vacuum cleaner to run for up to 100 minutes on one battery when using Min mode[4].

Intelligent Cleaning Support through AI Cleaning Mode 2.0

The Bespoke AI Jet Ultra also introduces the upgraded AI Cleaning Mode 2.0.[5] By sensing the brush load and vacuuming air pressure, this mode can classify a total of six different cleaning environments[6] and automatically adjust the suction power and brush speed for optimal cleaning performance. When using the Active Dual Brush, the soft roller helps pick up large dust particles on the floor while the nylon and rubber bristles help improve performance of carpets[7]. The vacuum cleaner senses corners[8] with the Slim LED Brush+, and by adjusting the suction power and brush speed[9] for the different cleaning environments, it uses power efficiently.

HEPA Filtration System

Complementing this powerful and intelligent experience, Samsung has a filtration system to ensure dust particles are captured when air is expelled from the vacuum cleaner. The Bespoke AI Jet Ultra features a Multi-layered Filtration system that effectively traps fine dust.[10] When air comes in, internal compartments like the cyclone and a metal mesh grille filter catch dust particles in succession. As a result, it achieves a filtration efficiency of up to 99.999%.[11]

Another distinctive benefit is that Samsung has implemented HEPA filtration into its Multi-layered Filtration system. With this system, the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra captures dust particles as small as 0.3µm, allowing less dust[12] to escape into the air.

Samsung’s new 615L AI Home Side-by-Side Refrigerator offers multiple screen options, including a 9-inch AI Home screen that helps manage smart devices in one place, access apps and get personalised information tailored to individual preferences[13]. Using an internal camera, the AI Vision Inside feature can recognise up to 33 different food items[17], including both fresh and processed foods, being put in or taken out to help with smarter food management and personalised meal recommendations.

Beyond food management, Samsung’s AI-powered screens transform the refrigerator into a smart home hub, providing seamless control over connected appliances. With Map View, users can monitor and manage Samsung appliances and third-party smart devices, such as smart lights and plugs[18]. SmartThings Energy helps track and optimise energy usage, while Bixby voice assistant delivers personalised assistance by recognising individual family members’ voices[19].

The Daily Board feature enhances family communication by displaying real-time updates, schedules, and daily energy reports. New SmartThings services have also been introduced including Family Care,[23] which sends an alert to other family members if a user’s movement is not detected at the set time — or if there is no activity for a certain amount of time after the last activity. It is also possible to use the robot vacuum cleaner to look for signs of an emergency, with all of this functionality being tightly secured by Samsung Knox.

This strategy, alongside Samsung’s innovations in AI-powered devices across mobile, home appliances and visual display, is a testament to Samsung’s longstanding commitment to human-centric innovation and brings the power of AI to everyday experiences to make life better for all.

Elevating Everyday Experiences With Home AI

Later in the press conference, Jonathan Gabrio, Head of the Connected Experience Center at Samsung Electronics America, expanded on Samsung’s Home AI vision, underscoring the company’s commitment to integrating AI across the entire connected experience to cater to diverse lifestyles. From single person households to multi-generational families under one roof, Home AI learns from habits and adapts to individual routines for a hyper-personalized smart home experience.

Security and Privacy are at the heart of Samsung’s strategy for Home AI. Samsung recognizes that as users introduce more connected devices into their homes and AI becomes more personal, it must also protect users’ privacy. To meet these evolving needs, the company has extended its security capabilities. Now, Samsung Knox Matrix protects home appliances along with mobile devices and TVs with its signature blockchain technology, ensuring that connected devices are working together to protect the user’s home, data and each other from digital threats. With Knox Matrix Dashboard, a transparent privacy control, Samsung offers simplified security management across the entire connected home. As information syncs across devices, Knox Matrix’s Credential Sync ensures that data can only be encrypted or decrypted from the user’s devices, and Samsung Knox Vault adds another layer of protection, keeping sensitive information like passwords or PINs isolated in a secure location.

Samsung’s One UI provides an integrated software experience across all connected Samsung devices, enhancing interoperability, empowering users with AI-based features and providing software updates for up to seven years.

Underpinning it all is SmartThings, Samsung’s smart home platform that brings intelligent connectivity to hundreds of millions of users around the world. With Samsung’s belief in open innovation and partnership as a foundation, SmartThings is being equipped with the latest AI technology to streamline and personalize the smart home experience for complete convenience. SmartThings Ambient Sensing intuitively understands the user’s environment and situational context by analyzing even human movements and ambient sounds through connected devices within the home, thereby enabling those devices to intelligently and seamlessly respond and adapt to daily routines.

Bixby Voice, an enhanced AI voice assistant, will be integrated to increase usability. The assistant has been trained so that it can recognize individual voices and respond to commands in a way that works best for each user.

Another way SmartThings simplifies everyday life is with Flex Connect, Samsung’s energy demand response program which incentivizes customers to enroll their devices with SmartThings and use SmartThings Energy. Users can decrease strain on local electricity grids and receive rewards in the form of Samsung Rewards points. In 2025, the program will be expanded from New York and California to select regions in Texas, helping address critical grid needs in the state.

These Home AI updates free up time previously spent on home management, allowing users to focus on what matters most and explore new passions. Samsung’s new Galaxy Book5 Pro and Galaxy Book5 360 are AI PCs built to boost productivity with Intel® Core Ultra Processors (Series 2) and enhance creativity with features like AI Select and Samsung Studio. AI Select works to make browsing a breeze, while Samsung Studio lets users edit across their Galaxy smartphone, tablet or PC wherever inspiration strikes, at home or on the go. Powered by the NPU, Photo Remaster upscales low-resolution photos into high-quality visuals, while Storage Share lets users directly access the files on their smartphone from their PC, avoiding the process of downloading.

With productivity comes proactivity, too. When AI and Samsung Health combine, users are empowered to take control of their health and wellness. With AI-driven health insights gathered on the Galaxy Ring and Galaxy Watch, Samsung is helping users make sense of their data and arrive at more informed decisions about their well-being. These new capabilities will further improve the overall experience of Samsung Health, which stands apart as an end-to-end health solution that integrates the entire home seamlessly.

Seamless Entertainment in the AI Era

Samsung’s latest screen experiences, powered by Samsung Vision AI, bring unexpected joy to users’ days through unparalleled personalization and exciting new features. The AI Screen experience infuses intelligence into TVs, bringing Generative Wallpaper, Live Translate and Click to Search to users. At the forefront of this technology is the Neo QLED 8K, which provides the most advanced viewing experiences though AI features like 8K AI Upscaling Pro, Auto HDR Remastering Pro and Color Booster Pro — all of which work behind the scenes to intelligently enhance picture quality. Plus, The Frame’s art experience is expanding, allowing all Samsung QLEDs to come with a digital collection of over 3,000 art pieces, making it so that they can turn any room into a personal gallery.

Samsung’s commitment to its Screens Everywhere strategy is reflected in new display options for its appliances, including its new refrigerators with 9″ AI Home displays and other devices with 7″ screens. Consumers will be able to enjoy heightened functionality — including various entertainment services, AI features such as AI Vision Inside and direct access to the online grocery service Instacart — on a broader range of products.

Taking AI Everywhere

Beyond the home, Samsung’s AI innovations are set to transform new categories and industries with SmartThings Pro. Created to bring the same AI-powered digital solutions to business partners as SmartThings offers consumers, SmartThings Pro is a B2B solution spanning multi-residential homes to retail spaces, hotels, schools and more. Since its launch last June, SmartThings Pro provides businesses with integrations to better understand energy usage, proactively identify devices with maintenance needs and offer comprehensive control of connected solutions. Samsung is working with partners to create an innovative platform, Future Innovation Technology (FIT), for larger businesses and buildings to set automated climate controls that save energy and reduce electricity costs.

The company is also working with Samsung Heavy Industries on a new SmartThings collaboration that uses the Matter connectivity standard to connect with compatible ships. SmartThings for Ships offers a Pre-Sailing Mode, which allows captains and crews to automate when the engine starts and turn on settings for temperature and lights, saving time and energy. Meanwhile, Care Mode provides a complete view of a ship’s power, AC systems and smoke alarms, while Protection Mode constantly monitors for — and will alert captain and crew to — any abnormal activity.

Additionally, Samsung is expanding its SmartThings and automotive integrations in a new partnership with Hyundai Motor Group to bring SmartThings to Hyundai EVs. With the expanded ecosystem, users can now use SmartThings Find to easily locate their parked car, even in crowded parking lots. With the power of Home AI, SmartThings can make recommendations on when to recharge EVs based on schedules and rates. And if there is a neighborhood power outage, it will automatically activate Battery Backup Mode, which works alongside AI Energy Mode to extend the battery energy to power home essentials.

In the Automotive space, Samsung and its subsidiary Harman continue their promise to transform the in-car experience with new products that bring contextual awareness into the cabin. Leveraging Samsung’s expertise in UX and AI, HARMAN’s new in-vehicle avatar acts as an intelligent digital copilot that works with Harman products like Ready Care and Ready Vision to anticipate needs while drivers focus on the road.

Empowering the Next Generation

Finally, Inhee Chung, Vice President of the Corporate Sustainability Center, underscored how Samsung’s AI for All vision is rooted in the brand’s commitment to harness the power of advanced technology for a better, more inclusive world. Samsung is introducing diverse and enhanced accessibility features through its AI-powered devices and services, starting with the ability to automatically sync accessibility features across home appliances from a smartphone.

From the first half of this year, Bixby will automatically have connected devices display text in high contrast or provide a voice guide for family members with low vision, all by simply recognizing their voice. For those with low vision, AI is improving Audio Subtitles by lowering foreign language audio and reading out the subtitles in the language of the user’s choosing.

Chung also discussed how initiatives like Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, Samsung Innovation Campus and the company’s work with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are enabling the next generation of innovators. Today, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow challenges more than 2.6 million students across 66 countries to use STEM to address challenges in their community. In particular, during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games last year, Samsung and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) launched a digital community “Together for Tomorrow, Enabling People” and appointed top 10 teams from global Solve for Tomorrow as community ambassadors. Meanwhile, Samsung Innovation Campus has helped prepare nearly 180,000 young people across 33 countries for the workforce through training on emerging technologies like AI, IoT and big data.

In a video message, Achim Steiner, UNDP Administrator, joined VP Chung to share an update on Samsung and UNDP’s partnership to harness the power of technology for good. Since its initiation five years ago, the Samsung Global Goals app has raised over $20 million thanks to nearly 300 million users who are using a Galaxy smartphone, tablet or watch. Plus, Samsung and UNDP’s joint work through the Generation17 initiative continues to inspire extraordinary young leaders around the world who are mobilizing their communities to advance the Global Goals.
