Buying a new smartphone is a big decision, but for years that choice was complicated by the switch itself. Transitioning to a new device meant learning a new interface from scratch, wondering if your contacts and messages would reappear and worrying about whether the apps and files you rely on would come with you.

But switching should be the easy part.

That’s why Samsung built a connected experience designed to remove friction before, during and after the move to Galaxy. With Try Galaxy, Smart Switch and Quick Share, users can explore the Galaxy experience, bring over the content that matters most and stay connected across devices.

It starts before a new phone is even in someone’s hands.

Try Galaxy gives users the chance to experience the Galaxy interface directly from their current smartphone through an interactive web app. From navigating One UI to exploring Galaxy AI features and everyday productivity tools, users can get a feel for the Galaxy experience before deciding to make the switch.

Once they’re ready, Smart Switch makes moving to Galaxy a seamless process. Photos, videos, contacts, messages, apps and settings can all be transferred from compatible Android and iOS devices, enabling users to pick up where they left off instead of starting from scratch.

The experience continues after setup with Quick Share, which simplifies file sharing between compatible Galaxy devices and Windows PCs, as well as iOS and macOS devices via AirDrop. Whether collaborating on an important document with colleagues, sharing family photos or moving videos between personal devices, Quick Share helps keep everything connected.

“We’ve focused on removing the barriers that have traditionally made switching feel like a chore,” said Tarik Akad, Head of Mobile, Samsung Electronics Canada. “Whether someone wants to try Galaxy before making a decision, transfer years of memories or stay connected across devices, we’re making it easier than ever to join the Galaxy ecosystem.”

Try Galaxy, Smart Switch and Quick Share work together to reflect Samsung’s broader Why Galaxy vision: making technology work around people’s lives, rather than the other way around.

Samsung Electronics Canada today announced the longlist for Samsung True North Tunes, naming 100 emerging Canadian artists selected to move forward in the national music discovery program.

Launched earlier this year in partnership with Collective Arts and Complex, True North Tunes was created to give emerging Canadian musicians a platform to share their original music, reach new audiences, and connect with fans across the country.

The Top 100 artists represent a diverse range of genres, backgrounds, and creative styles, reflecting the depth of musical talent emerging across Canada. Each artist was selected following a review process focused on originality, creative expression, and artistic potential.

“At Samsung, we believe technology can help unlock creativity and bring people closer to the music, artists, and stories that inspire them,” said Tafari Jilany, Head of Corporate Marketing, Samsung Canada. “The True North Tunes longlist is an exciting reflection of the talent and creativity shaping Canada’s music scene, and we’re proud to help give these emerging artists a platform to be discovered by more listeners.”

The announcement of the Top 100 marks the next phase of the program, as Canadians will have the opportunity to discover the longlisted artists and participate in the public voting process (on truenorthtunesmusic.ca or @truenorthtunes.music on Instagram) to help determine the shortlist, which will be announced on July 10.

Through True North Tunes, the top 100 selected artists will gain national exposure through featured placement on the True North Tunes platform, alongside curated playlist inclusion and promotional support and mentorship to help grow their audience. From there, they will have a chance to unlock live performance opportunities at Collective Arts spaces across Canada and in-depth mentorship. The program will continue to build momentum throughout the summer, culminating in the announcement of the Top 3 artists on October 1.

“Canada is home to an incredible depth of creative talent, and programs like True North Tunes help create more space for emerging artists to be seen, heard, and supported,” said Toni Shelton, VP of Brand and Strategy at Collective Arts. “At Collective Arts, supporting Canadian artists is central to who we are, and we’re proud to help provide a platform that celebrates originality and helps new voices reach wider audiences.”

“At Complex, we’re always looking for the people and movements shaping what’s next in culture,” said Natalie Milne, SVP of Content and Operations at Complex Canada and Ideon Media. “The True North Tunes Top 100 shines a spotlight on the artists pushing Canadian music forward, and we’re proud to help introduce more fans to the talent that’s defining the future of music in Canada.”

Canadians can explore the full True North Tunes longlist and vote for their favorite artists at https://truenorthtunesmusic.ca/

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a global leader in advanced memory technology, today announced mass production of PM1763, the company’s PCIe® 6.0-based

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a global leader in advanced memory technology, today announced mass production of PM1763, the company’s PCIe® 6.0-based enterprise solid state drive (SSD) optimized for next-generation AI and HPC server environments.

As the volume of data required for AI training and inference continues to grow rapidly, enterprise SSDs (eSSDs) capable of delivering data quickly and reliably are becoming increasingly essential to AI infrastructure.

Featuring high-speed data transfer and an optimized controller architecture, PM1763 is expected to serve as a key storage solution for high-performance AI platforms.

“Built on industry-leading performance, PM1763 has successfully completed validation for next-generation AI platforms and is well positioned to support evolving AI infrastructure requirements,” said Jangseok Choi, Vice President and Head of Memory Product Planning at Samsung Electronics. “As AI models continue to grow in size and complexity, PM1763 will serve as a key solution that enables customers to efficiently scale memory capacity and optimize AI operations.”

Incorporating Samsung’s 9th-generation V-NAND and a newly developed 4-nanometer (nm) controller, PM1763 significantly improves both performance and power efficiency.

PM1763 is available in 4-terabyte (TB), 8TB and 16TB capacities, with the 16TB configuration delivering industry-leading performance with sequential read and write speeds of up to 28,400 megabytes-per-second (MB/s) and 21,900MB/s, respectively—more than 2 times the performance of its predecessor, PM1753.

This level of performance allows the transfer of a 40-gigabyte (GB) large language model (LLM) in approximately 1.4 seconds, helping minimize data latency between processors and accelerators while improving overall AI processing efficiency.

PM1763 is optimized for liquid-cooled server environments through direct-to-chip (D2C) cooling technology. This enables sustained peak performance even under intensive workloads and extended operating conditions.

Power efficiency is also improved by more than 1.8 times compared to its predecessor, helping reduce overall datacenter operating costs.

To address growing security requirements in AI, Samsung has also strengthened PM1763’s security capabilities. The drive supports post-quantum cryptography (PQC) algorithms designed to protect against future quantum computing threats, as well as TEE Device Interface Security Protocol (TDISP)[1], which helps secure data pathways in virtualized environments.

History repeats a pattern. The breakthroughs that change everything are rarely the most powerful inventions. They are the moments those inventions reach into daily life. Electricity changed society not with power plants, but when a switch appeared in homes. The internet became ours through the browser. The phone became powerful through the ecosystem of apps that grew on top of it.

AI will be no different.

Where AI Meets People

AI is getting smarter faster, and this will continue. But to change how people live, it must answer: where, how and into whose hands does this intelligence reach? This will define AI’s next chapter.

AI no longer merely answers. It is entering an agentic age, taking action on our behalf while the person carries the final decision. But to act for someone, it must first know them.

That is why it matters where AI meets people. The entry points are where AI understands a person and builds trust. The best AI experiences will come from the devices that know the user best.

This is what Samsung has spent years building. The phone is closest to us, with us daily. The tablet is where we create and learn. The watch reads signals like sleep and heart rate. The TV and connected home appliances add context from where we live. And new form factors, from foldables to intelligent eyewear, expand where AI meets us. Together, a fuller picture of a person’s needs forms.

These entry points are powerful together. Signals from across devices become timely assistance: sleep tracked by your watch shapes tomorrow’s schedule, with information always available. AI at its best works quietly in the background, bringing these moments into a cohesive experience. That is why we have spent years building an ecosystem not just to reach, but to connect more moments.

Built on Openness and Trust

Samsung does not do this alone. The platforms that changed the world were the most open. The web was. So were mobile operating systems. With SmartThings, we brought devices, services and partners into one connected experience, shaping industry open standards. Openness lets the best ideas reach people faster. And we don’t simply layer intelligence on top, but design how AI works at the centre so it serves each person in context.

But openness alone is not the goal. The harder task is turning intelligence into something personal and trustworthy. The best intelligence in the world should reach people through their everyday devices. But what makes it personal is understanding the user and keeping that understanding safe. That is our responsibility.

As AI becomes more personal and agentic, trust becomes the foundation. People need to know what AI is doing for them and remain in control.

The Next Chapter of Galaxy

This is why trust isn’t added at the end. Samsung Knox protects each Galaxy device and now the connections between them. As intelligence moves across devices, protecting what flows between them is crucial. The most personal data stays on the device so people can understand how AI is working, staying in control.

That same understanding shapes the devices we build. The more personal and capable AI becomes, the more form matters. As AI helps us with more at once, a screen that flexes and folds expands what is possible. This is what makes foldables special: they fold into your hand, opening a larger stage. On this journey, Samsung has continued to make foldables thinner, lighter, stronger and more immersive.

AI is also essential for health. How we sleep, recover and look after ourselves—daily choices add up. A device close to us, like a watch, tracks these signals ensuring a better day.

The upcoming Galaxy Unpacked is where we will show what’s next in bringing all this together: more personal, natural AI experiences on a foundation more partners can build on. The question that opens the next era is not who has the smartest AI, but who understands people best, and turns that understanding into experiences they can trust.

We intend to take this path with openness and responsibility, beginning with the device already in your hands. We open this next chapter together at Galaxy Unpacked.

Foldable smartphones have come a long way in just a handful of years. What was once a bold new idea has become an established part of the mobile landscape, changing how people work, create and connect.

In anticipation of the next chapter in Galaxy innovation, one thing remains clear: Samsung is shaping the foldable experience through purposeful refinement, thoughtful design and a relentless focus on what people need from their devices.

Long before foldables became one of the industry’s most closely-watched categories, Samsung was investing in the technology that would help make them a reality. In 2018, the company unveiled its Infinity Flex Display, which enables more immersive viewing and improved multitasking capabilities without sacrificing portability. The first Galaxy Fold went to market the following year, with the Galaxy Z Flip debuting in early 2020 as a new form factor.

Those moments were more than product launches. They established the foundation for an emerging category. And in the time since, Samsung has made continued advancements in durability, performance and user experience.

As foldables have gained momentum and the category has expanded, Samsung remains focused on the details that matter most. Each iteration has improved on the last, informed by customer feedback and real-world experience. The result is a portfolio of devices that has helped turn foldables from a futuristic concept into a trusted choice for millions of users around the world.

“Our job has always been to make the foldable technology feel more natural, more intuitive and more useful,” said Tarik Akad, Head of Mobile, Samsung Electronics Canada. “That’s been our focus from the beginning. Every improvement has been guided by how people use their devices, and those insights continue to shape where we believe foldables can go next.”

The capabilities of smartphones have expanded well beyond calls and texts, and the expectations will continue to evolve. Years of refining foldables give Samsung a unique perspective on the future of mobile technology – and how to build devices that meet the moment.

That journey is far from over.

Once again, Samsung is preparing to redefine what’s possible, building on years of engineering and ambition that have shaped the foldable category from the beginning.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced new education solutions for its Android-based Samsung Interactive Display lineup, making shared classroom

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced new education solutions for its Android-based Samsung Interactive Display lineup, making shared classroom displays easier to personalize and manage. Announced and exhibited at ISTELive 26, a leading education technology conference that is being hosted by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) from June 28-July 1 in Orlando, Florida, the new solutions reflect Samsung’s focus on practical classroom tools for teachers and school IT teams.

“Digital classrooms depend on the right balance of advanced hardware, intelligent software and intuitive user experiences,” said Hyoung Jae Kim, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display (VD) Business at Samsung Electronics. “By bringing together AI and seamless connectivity, Samsung’s interactive display solutions are designed to support a more flexible, connected learning environment in which teachers and students can thrive.”

Samsung AMS: Personalizing the Shared Display Experience

In schools where multiple teachers use the same classroom display throughout the day, access and privacy can become daily challenges. Samsung Account Management Solution (AMS), which comes pre-installed on compatible Android-based Samsung Interactive Display lineup models, allows each teacher to access their own account using a QR code or an NFC-enabled ID card.[1] This streamlined sign-in experience helps schools support shared devices without relying on local profiles tied to a single display.

With Home Personalization, Samsung AMS supports cloud-connected profiles, allowing teachers to access their preferred layout, wallpaper, bookmarks, app shortcuts, files and settings when they sign in to compatible displays in different classrooms. This transforms any shared display into a personalized teaching workspace, giving teachers a consistent experience from room to room.

For added security, teachers can instantly activate a screen lock when they need to leave the classroom for brief amounts of time.

As schools add more connected displays, IT teams need a simpler way to manage users, devices and classroom permissions. Samsung Education Portal provides a central location for IT managers to register teachers and enroll devices. In terms of user management, NFC binding links NFC cards to teacher accounts so staff can sign in to shared displays with their assigned cards. IT teams can also enable Samsung AMS on selected displays and manage account access when needed, allowing classrooms to stay ready for the next teacher.

Samsung Education Portal also includes Tags, a feature that lets IT teams group displays by school, building or classroom. The same tags can support emergency alerts, enabling schools to push preconfigured alerts to selected Samsung Interactive Displays through major notification platforms like InformaCast and Raptor.[2]

Samsung AI Assistant: Supporting More Efficient Teaching and More Active Learning

Samsung AI Assistant provides AI tools for common classroom tasks directly on compatible Android-based Samsung Interactive Displays. The app supports content discovery, transcription, summaries and quizzes, helping teachers encourage student focus, participation and comprehension throughout lessons.

With Circle to Search[3], teachers can circle on-screen text or images to find related information, visuals, videos and web links without leaving the display. Results can also be used in other classroom apps, such as Samsung Whiteboard, so teachers can bring supporting materials into the lesson more easily. Live Transcript converts spoken instruction into real-time text on the screen, making lessons easier to follow for students with hearing impairments, as well as multilingual learners.[4]

Samsung AI Assistant also includes AI Summary and AI Quiz. Using recorded lesson content, AI Quiz generates questions that allow teachers to assess student comprehension in real time. This keeps students engaged through the end of the lesson, while giving teachers immediate visibility into class performance, such as the overall correct answer rate. With Single Sign-On for Samsung AI Assistant through Samsung AMS, teachers can return to previous lesson materials, including AI-generated summaries, without signing in again.

Samsung Brings More Choice to Classroom Display Technology

Samsung AI Assistant is currently available following its April release, while Samsung AMS will be available beginning in July alongside related Samsung Education Portal updates.[5]

Samsung’s Android-based Interactive Display portfolio gives schools a range of options for classrooms, media rooms and shared learning spaces, with three new models: WAF-S, WAFX-PS and WAHX-M.[6] These models, along with the existing WAF and WAFX-P series, support Samsung AI Assistant and Samsung AMS. The lineup is also EDLA-certified,[7] providing seamless access to services like Google Classroom and Google Drive, which further enrich the educational experience.

WAF-S and WAFX-PS build on previous models (WAF, WAFX-P) with an Android OS upgrade to Android 16. The new OS includes improvements in usability, accessibility, security and privacy. The upgrade gives schools a more advanced display experience while preserving the familiarity of the core product.

WAHX-M introduces a 98-inch option to Samsung’s Interactive Display portfolio for the first time, supporting larger spaces such as lecture halls and conference rooms. Available in 65-, 75-, 86- and 98-inch sizes, WAHX-M supports on-device AI features[8] such as voice command, AI calculator and text-to-speech, along with Samsung AMS and the Samsung AI Assistant app.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the Galaxy A27 5G, a device that refines everyday mobile use with an immersive display, reliable performance and thoughtfully integrated AI features. Building on the popular Galaxy A26 5G, Galaxy A27 5G introduces meaningful enhancements that make the experience easier and more intuitive for more users.

More Screen, Less Distraction

For smoother and more seamless viewing, Galaxy A27 5G features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. It also introduces an upgraded Infinity-O display, which minimizes the visible camera area through a discreet punch-hole design. Together with a reduced and more balanced bezel, this adds screen space and removes distractions to keep content front and center. With a slim 7.8 mm body, Galaxy A27 5G is designed to feel comfortable in the user’s hand throughout the day.

Everyday Performance, Enhanced

Powered by the Snapdragon® 6 Gen 3 Mobile Platform,[1] Galaxy A27 5G feels more responsive throughout the day, whether users are switching between apps or busily handling multitasking. A boost in GPU performance delivers smoother graphics for gaming and streaming, while the latest high-speed memory enables faster data transfer speeds and improved power efficiency. Together, these upgrades help Galaxy A27 5G deliver an everyday experience that users can count on.

Galaxy A27 5G also introduces a 12 MP front camera that captures a wider range of brightness and richer colours, resulting in more natural-looking selfies in a variety of lighting conditions.

Awesome Intelligence for Everyday Tasks

Upgrades to the existing suite of AI features make mobile intelligence more accessible. Circle to Search[2] with Google now supports multi-object recognition, allowing users to search for multiple items within an image at once, from outfits to accessories, in a single step. It also allows outfits to be virtually tried on directly from search results, helping users to explore new styles from anywhere.

Object Eraser[3] now delivers more precise results, making it easier to remove unwanted distractions with more natural-looking edits. Additionally, Voice Transcription[4] in the Voice Recorder app can now translate as it transcribes, making it easier to capture meeting notes in 22 languages.

Building on the Awesome Intelligence[5] experiences introduced earlier this year, Galaxy A27 5G supports a choice of AI assistants, including Google Gemini[6] and Perplexity.[7] Deeper integration across more native Galaxy apps — including Gallery — supports faster, more intuitive everyday interactions. Galaxy A27 5G now supports Bixby[8] as a conversational device agent, enabling seamless control of settings and features through natural language.

Built on Samsung Knox with hardware-backed protection from Knox Vault,[9] Galaxy A27 5G helps to keep sensitive data secure, making device protection easier and more intuitive than ever before.

Availability

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a world leader in advanced memory technology today announced thatit has developed the blazing fast Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 5.0 solution, which will help enable seamless and highly efficient AI services on future mobile devices.

The milestone sets a benchmark for the next-generation mobile memory market as the enhanced performance is expected to allow mobile device users with reduced latency and faster response times when running large language models (LLMs) in on-device AI environments

“In the era of on-device AI, storage devices are evolving into a key driver defining AI experiences,” said Jangseok Choi, head of Memory Product Planning at Samsung Electronics. “As we successfully move beyond the development stage of the industry’s first UFS 5.0 solution, Samsung is setting a new standard for storage on the go and will continue to drive innovation for the next-generation mobile platform market.”

Generative AI is rapidly shifting from the cloud to the device, driving a surge in the scale of data required for local processing. As a result, storage is evolving from a medium used primarily to store data to core infrastructure that supports AI computation.

Samsung’s UFS 5.0 integrates the latest embedded memory interface standard from JEDEC, achieving high performance levels with a bandwidth of up to 10.8 gigabytes per second (GB/s).

The new storage solution delivers a sequential read speed of up to 10.8GB/s and a sequential write speed of up to 9.5 GB/s, speeds that are respectively more than twice as fast as those of the previous UFS 4.1 standard. This significant advancement enables much faster storage and processing of large data for on-device AI applications.

Power efficiency in Samsung’s UFS 5.0 is also improved compared to the company’s UFS 4.1 solution. This is achieved by implementing a number of new innovations, including clock gating and multi-voltage technologies. These enhancements help to considerably reduce the power required to transfer the same amount of data, drastically lowering overall power consumption and extending the battery life of next-generation mobile devices.

Samsung has engineered the UFS 5.0 solution into an ultra-compact package measuring just 7.5mm x 13mm x 0.9mm — making it 16.7% smaller than its predecessor. This form factor significantly boosts design flexibility and internal space utilization for a wide range of applications, including mobile, wearable and extended reality (XR) devices.

Samsung will begin mass production of its UFS 5.0 in the fourth quarter of this year in a variety of capacities up to one terabyte (TB). Through this breakthrough in UFS 5.0 technology, Samsung continues to innovate and plans to scale up supply to meet the growth of next-generation device markets.
