From the scintillating sound of a sizzling short rib to the sight of delicate shavings falling gently from a black truffle, a delicious three-course dinner prepared by professional chef Dustin Gallagher was recently brought to life on the big screen thanks to Samsung’s new line-up of Premium TVs, the Neo QLED 8K and OLED.

For the launch of their new Premium TVs, Samsung Canada partnered with Dustin Gallagher, the chef and owner at Toronto’s Noble House, to highlight the innovative technology and superb brightness, colour and contrast behind these TVs.

The new range, including 2023 models of Neo QLED 8K and OLED, provide an immersive viewing experience. From stunning 8K technology showing even the tiniest details to Pantone-validated screens[1] bringing colour to life, the new Premium TVs are designed to wow consumers and push the boundaries of both picture quality and impeccable design.

“Samsung has maintained its position as a global leader in the TV market for 17 years in a row[2] by providing exceptional TV viewing experiences, and these new models are no exception,” said Pat Bugos, Senior Vice President of Consumer Electronics at Samsung Canada. “Through our partnership with Dustin Gallagher, we are reimagining the term ‘TV dinner’ and providing a viewing and culinary experience like no other.”

For the launch event, guests were invited to the Samsung Experience Store at the Toronto Eaton Centre for an intimate meal prepared by Dustin. During the experience, guests were able to watch every detail of the cooking process captured in 8K, on the full range of Neo QLED 8K and OLED screens, showcasing the TVs’ superb picture quality and witnessing Dustin’s talents in unparalleled detail.

Following the event, Samsung Canada caught up with Dustin to learn about his experience and what it’s like to participate in the launch of the Samsung 2023 Premium TV lineup.

Q: Why did you partner with Samsung for the launch of its new Premium TVs?

A: I was thrilled to be asked to partner with Samsung because I appreciate their commitment to innovation and pushing the boundaries of technology. As someone who is passionate about culinary creativity and exploring new ways to bring food to life, it was a natural fit. I also leapt at the opportunity to magnify my creations on Samsung’s Neo QLED 8K and OLED screens to really showcase the beauty and intricacy of each dish. Through this event, Samsung’s screens really allowed guests to fully appreciate the artistry and presentation of each dish before they even tasted them. Partnering with a brand that shares my vision for delivering the best possible experience was an easy decision and I’m looking forward to creating more groundbreaking moments with them.

Q: What do you think of the new Samsung Premium TVs?

A: As a chef, I’m always looking for ways to elevate the dining experience and make food more enjoyable and engaging for my guests. That’s why when I first glimpsed at Samsung’s new 2023 Premium TV lineup, I could immediately appreciate how they were elevating the entertainment experience and connecting with viewers on a new level. I was blown away by the stunning clarity, detail, and colour displayed on these TVs. It was hard to believe I was looking at a TV, especially with the Infinity Screen providing an almost invisible frame on the Neo QLED 8K models! The 8K and OLED technology brought my food to life in a way I never thought possible, allowing viewers to appreciate the smallest details and nuances of each dish. It’s really amazing to see how technology can enhance the way we live, including our relationship with food.

Q: As a chef who has also appeared on TV, why is technology important when showcasing food?

A: Throughout my career, the old saying “we eat with our eyes” has consistently rang true. When a dish is set before us, our mouths immediately start to water. The way food looks, can be almost as important as its taste. When I worked and appeared on various TV shows, I witnessed firsthand how important it was to make food look good and technology was often the way to do that. Audiences expect a high level of visual and audio engagement in everything they watch, even for something as straightforward as preparing a meal. With Samsung’s new Neo QLED 8K and OLED screens, we can show viewers the beauty and artistry of food without them having to step foot in a kitchen. With true-to-life picture quality and immersive audio, Samsung’s Premium TVs really capture the essence of the ingredients I use and the care that goes into creating these meals. I think guests at the launch event left with a better understanding of the culinary process and why I love it so much thanks to the cutting-edge technology used in this Premium TV line-up.

Q: Do you believe the dining experience can be elevated by technology? If so, how?

A: We already use technology in so much of what we do in the kitchen, from sous vide machines to electronic meat thermometers, so it just makes sense to use it to share the cooking process and the end result. With technology like what we have seen in Samsung Premium TVs, we can provide guests with a visual and auditory “taste” or preview of a dish they’re about to enjoy, increasing the excitement and anticipation for it. Think of it almost like a teaser to whet the diner’s appetite! The Neo QLED 8K and OLED range have the ability to really showcase the art and creativity of cooking that resonates with people and makes them excited about food.

Q: What inspired you to create these particular dishes for Samsung?

A: When I originally experienced Samsung’s Premium TVs, the first thing that struck me was how I was able to see even the tiniest details on the screen. That’s why I was drawn to ingredients like shaved truffles in our gnocchi dish. The mushroom’s tiny veins, intricate grooves, and paper thin edges were all brought to life in vivid 8K clarity on the screens. Even the fine particles of flour that dust the fluffy gnocchi, or the potatoes as they pass through the ricer, were captured in mind-blowing detail.

From a sound perspective, I wanted guests to be able to hear every moment of the meal’s preparation. With Dolby Atmos top channel speakers integrated into both the OLED and Neo QLED 8K TVs, they were able to hear everything from fruit being juiced to the tiniest droplets of oil dancing on a pan.

Finally, I knew the new Pantone-validated screens produce lifelike colours, from the brightest whites to darkest blacks, and colour is really important in food, so I knew I had to create something that would really pop on screen. With that in mind, I prepared a beautiful and bright raspberry sorbet sitting atop a bed of exotic fruits for dessert to highlight the OLED screen’s impressive Quantum Dot technology and colour range which allows these ingredients to really shine on the screen.

The brand showcased their latest innovations in smart connectivity, sustainability initiatives, premium viewing, and gaming experiences. This year’s lineup focuses on enhancing the user experience by making complex technologies more intuitive and seamlessly integrated into people’s lives, while delivering an impeccable picture and sound quality which consumers expect from Samsung screens.

Under the tagline “More Wow than Ever,” Samsung’s 2023 lineup is set to impress consumers. Samsung Canada is providing a recap of all the key announcements for those who have missed the livestream or simply want to revisit the announcements.

1 – Solutions for Your Tailormade Life: Five Foundations of SmartThings

In his opening remarks, JH Han underscored the company’s commitment to calm tech and innovation, providing consumers with the latest technologies that make life better. In particular, he introduced five core foundations of SmartThings, which aims to provide increased convenience when setting up a smart home.

• Instant Connection: SmartThings enables users to easily connect their devices in just one step, allowing them to enjoy the synergy when only Samsung devices are used.
• Automated Connection: SmartThings automatically connects Samsung devices[1], like TVs or smartphones with other Samsung devices such as the washers, dryers and refrigerators, eliminating the need for manual setup.
• Hub Everywhere: The IoT hub is built into various Samsung products, including Samsung Smart TVs, making IoT setup a breeze.
• Expansive Compatibility: SmartThings goes beyond just the Samsung ecosystem, enabling compatible devices from any brand to work seamlessly together thanks to the Home Connectivity Alliance and the international IoT communication standard, MATTER[2].
• Security: With CC EAL 6+ certification, the new Samsung Knox Vault hardware chip encrypts all information from connected devices, ensuring a high level of security and offering peace of mind for users.

Understanding consumers have diverse technology ecosystems in their homes, Samsung helped form the Home Connectivity Alliance so all users’ favourite devices can work together, regardless of brand. And in the name of true connectivity, Samsung is also paving the way for smarter homes with support for MATTER, an international IoT communication standard that involves more than 220 global companies.

2 – Putting People and Planet at the Centre: Sustainability and Relumino

Samsung is committed to delivering innovative calm tech and eco-conscious practices that make life easier and better for its users. At every stage of the product lifecycle, from product sourcing to production, distribution, use and recycling, Samsung is striving to put sustainability first, utilizing various technologies to create products that will contribute to building a better planet for future generations.  

• Samsung aims to lead the way with three innovative approaches to sustainability: Turning CO2 into recycled materials, using fewer materials, and upcycling products and packaging. Samsung’s 2023 TVs, monitors, and remote controls use recycled resin made of at least 50% recycled materials.[3] In addition, Samsung has made significant efforts to ensure it is offering sustainable packaging, from the box to all the wrapping inside.
• Samsung has also developed AI Energy Mode[4] that helps users monitor energy consumption and usage patterns, putting the users in control. AI Energy Mode feature even analyzes the content playing on the screen to reduce power consumption without distracting from the content.
• Samsung’s third generations SolarCell Remote is more compact. As it uses Samsung’s proprietary technology, is also free of licensing requirements, allowing any manufacturer to join Samsung on the journey in making the world a more eco-conscious place.

Samsung also underscored its commitment to creating a better, more inclusive viewing experience for all with its latest Relumino Mode. Relumino Mode is designed to help people with visual impairments watch content more easily and has been awarded with the 2023 CES Innovation Award.[5]

3 – More Choice with Premium Screens: Neo QLED 8K and Samsung OLED

At Unbox & Discover 2023, Samsung unveiled products and features designed to deliver innovative 8K experiences. The QN900C sits at the top of Samsung’s premium Neo QLED 8K lineup and is a standout model in the premium TV category. With groundbreaking technologies like Auto HDR Remastering and 8K AI upscaling[6], the QN900C is impressing industry experts and reviewers alike

From true-to-life picture quality to immersive audio, Samsung has once again set the bar high with its Neo QLED 8K. The company will also be adding a 98-inch model to its Neo QLED 8K lineup, providing immaculate colour reproduction and lifelike level of detail on a scale that offers a cinematic-like experience. It will offer upgraded sound with Dolby Atmos and Q-Symphony 3.0 to further envelope viewers in every single scene.

Additionally, Samsung spoke on its efforts in expanding the 8K ecosystem by working closely with various partners, including the 8K Association. Together, Samsung is introducing more ways to enjoy native 8K content.

Samsung also highlighted its 2023 Samsung OLED lineup, which offers immaculate colour accuracy through Neural Quantum Processor 4K’s perceptional colour mapping – making Samsung OLED the “World’s First Pantone-Validated HDR OLED.”[7]

In fact, Samsung OLED boasts true blacks and stunningly natural pictures with ideals contrast and colour expression. The S95C features Samsung’s signature Infinity One design, and the LaserSlim design of the S90C model adds a touch of sophisticated metal finish.

4 – Putting Gaming at the Forefront with Gaming TVs and Monitors

Premium screens, from Neo QLED 8K to OLED and beyond, not only bring video and photo content to life in ultra-high resolution but can also bring screen experiences like gaming to a whole new level. Gaming on a 98-inch Neo QLED 8K provides a superb level of immersive gameplay, from the large screen to high-performance graphic cards that support 8K resolution at a super fast pace.

For 2023, Samsung unveiled the Odyssey Neo G9, the world’s first dual UHD resolution monitor, and the Odyssey Ark, a 55-inch curved screen with a powerful sound system and multitasking capabilities. The new 2023 Odyssey models will be available in 2H in 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9 and the 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9, providing superb picture quality and user experience.

Incorporating valuable feedback from thousands of gamers, Samsung also upgraded its all-in-one gaming platform, the Gaming Hub[8]. The platform now includes partnerships with Amazon Luna, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Utomik and Xbox, allowing gamers to play their favourite titles at high performance speeds directly from the cloud without a console or a PC.[9]

In addition to its advanced features for viewing experiences, the 2023 lineup also offers gamer-centric features such as Game Bar, which places gamer controls front and centre, together with Mini Map Zoom and Virtual Aim Point, which can make all the difference between winning and losing in competitive gameplay.[10]

The Samsung 2023 Neo QLED 8K TV is now available in Canada in two models, QN800C and QN900C, which are both offered in 65”, 75” and 85” sizes. Samsung Electronics has been shaping the history of television through the development of its technological innovations, from FHD and 4K through to 8K, thanks to its strategic vision and an endless passion to bring new technologies to the market.

In order to learn more about the achievements made so far in the field of TV technological innovation, as well as the future of display technologies in the age of UHD screens, Samsung Newsroom sat down with TV experts to discuss these topics further.

Pioneering the Future of TV Through Endless Innovation

These days, picture quality has become one of the most crucial factors consumers consider when choosing a TV. In 1977, Samsung succeeded in the development and mass production of a colour TV, the Colour Economy TV, for the first time in Korea, ushering in the era of colour television for the country. Samsung earned the title of the first colour TV manufacturer in Korea thanks to its steadfast dedication to innovation. Moreover, the company was never complacent about the colossal success of its black and white TV model, the Econo TV, which took the lion’s share within the monthly TV market at the time.

Samsung’s first LED TV, launched in 2009, wowed the world as a breakthrough in TV technology.

Next to be developed was the LCD TV, and, in 2009, Samsung unveiled its breakthrough model — the Samsung LED TV. The LED TV was the culmination of all the innovative technologies available at the time, allowing for superb picture quality brought about by light-emitting diodes. All components of Samsung’s LED TV were designed anew, and the number of patents acquired for this model exceeded 3,000.

Samsung’s QLED TV made its global debut at CES in 2017.

In 2017, Samsung then went on to introduce the world’s first QLED TV based on cadmium-free quantum dot technology at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The company’s innovative TV was at the center of attention that year, boasting superb picture quality and 100% colour volume[1].

A year later, the company brought to the market a QLED 8K model that incorporated 8K resolution into Samsung’s proprietary quantum dot technology. It featured Direct Full Array and a backlight technology able to precisely control the lighting balance across every part of the picture on-screen. In addition, the QLED TV also included 8K AI Upscaling[2], an upscaling technology designed to intelligently upgrade lower-quality videos into vivid 8K resolution, for the first time in the industry. Samsung’s innovative QLED 8K technologies are what launched the era of 8K.

“In 2020, Samsung unveiled the world’s first bezel-less TV that completely removed the bezels from around the display,“ said Hyunchul Song from the Product Development Group. “A year later, we further solidified our position as an industry leader by introducing our Neo QLED technology based on Quantum Mini LED displays. From FHD through to 8K, we have undertaken ceaseless efforts to develop innovative products that offer differentiated experiences based on consumer needs.”

Striving for Superb Picture Quality Through In-Depth Research Into Human Behavior

Samsung continues to strive to offer the best possible viewer experiences by delivering amazing picture quality. However, what does “good picture quality” mean to someone who works on its development?

“Picture quality is considered good when it delivers a sense of reality to the viewer that feels as if you are witnessing the images on-screen first-hand,” explained Youngseok Han, a developer from the H/W Lab. “To ensure good picture quality, display performance indicators such as high resolution, high luminance and excellent colour expression are essential. What also matters is how well-balanced the other cutting-edge technologies of the display are, including the chip design, the picture quality algorithms and the sound.”

Han went on to provide further insight into the importance of balance to the corresponding picture quality. “The factors that impact picture quality the most are how well you organize the various relevant technologies. These include those designed to reduce distortion and any image transmission noise, those that reproduce colours precisely and richly and create sharp contrast for more vivid, clear images and those motion technologies that ensure the movement of objects on-screen appears smooth and fluid.”

It would be impossible to develop good picture quality with just one singular technology, no matter how great that technology is. This is why Samsung is committed to developing innovative technologies through all kinds of different approaches without resting on their laurels as a leader in the industry. Recently introduced on the 2023 Neo QLED TV, Real Depth Enhancer is one of the new features that has been developed to further improve picture quality.

When human eyes are focused on an object, attention is directed onto the object by optimizing sharpness, clarity and texture, all while also maintaining the background scene. Samsung’s Real Depth Enhancer technology was developed based on an understanding of this human behavior, and harnesses AI to automatically separate an object from its background to create a greater sense of depth and make the images truly pop.

Furthermore, Neo Quantum Matrix Pro technology improves the playback of fine details through precise control of the quantum mini LEDs across a total of 16,384 levels[3]. This meticulous adjustment further adds dimension and a sense of reality to the images on-screen.

“Our Real Depth Enhancer technology is the result of an optimization of all the relevant technologies in a way that takes human psychology into account, instead of focusing only on improving resolution,” noted Han.

From 8K Games to Artworks on Samsung TVs in the Age of 8K Technology

These days, users are being bombarded by new content. Tens of thousands of new pieces of media and content are being published every day across all manner of platforms — but does the same apply to content being made in 8K?

“Following the recent growth of 8K devices including smartphones, anyone is able to create 8K content and view it in ultra-high resolution,” said Sangmin Lee, Head of the Picture Quality Solution Lab. “High-performance graphics cards also now make it possible for users to play 8K games, meaning that we are already living in the age of 8K UHD.”

Song further detailed the growth of 8K content in today’s viewing market. “There is a growing amount of 8K content available on social media channels, and artists are creating digital artworks in 8K,” he explained. “We added in ‘YouTube Videos in 8K’ feature to the 2023 Neo QLED TV to allow users to peruse the 8K content available on YouTube and explore digital artworks, such as an image in NFT[4] form, at a single glance.”

Samsung is also taking the lead in expanding the 8K content ecosystem by being at the helm of the 8K Association, a global non-profit organization established in 2019 with the aim of establishing 8K standards and expanding 8K content. As of February 2023, the association has 33 members, including Samsung, TV panel producers, SoC chip makers and leading content creators. Last year, Samsung released a teaser for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series in 8K developed in collaboration with Amazon Prime Video, another member of the 8K Association.

Developing Optimal Picture Quality That Takes Viewing Experiences to the Next Level

In order to learn more about the next steps for industry leader Samsung when it comes to picture quality in the age of 8K technology, Samsung Newsroom asked the three TV professionals what their goals are.

“As a developer, I feel the most accomplished when I hear the feedback that viewers think the images on-screen seem real to them,” said Han. “My goal is to further improve our algorithms by optimizing a range of components in order to deliver picture quality that is ‘more real than real’ to viewers.”

For Song, creating technologies that bring real value to users is of the utmost importance. “While the development department works to create the best picture quality through technological innovation, I am more involved in optimizing products to bring high-quality experiences to as many viewers as possible,” said Song. “I will continue to deliberate on what other kinds of user value we can bring to our viewers.”

Finally, from Lee’s perspective, the goal is and always has been to provide users with experiences that go beyond simply watching content. “The most important value that a display can provide is to present images that seem more real than reality itself,” explained Lee. “Through the best picture quality algorithms and leading sound performance, the optimal picture quality that is delivered then allows users to enjoy their favorite content without having to worry about adjusting the settings. Our ultimate goal is to offer superb picture quality that enables users to thoroughly enjoy their viewing experiences that go beyond simply watching content.”

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced that its 2023 Neo QLED^[1] and Lifestyle TV^[2] lineups received the ‘Circadian Rhythm Display’ certification[3] from Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE), a leading electrical engineering certification institute in Germany. The certification underscores Samsung’s commitment to developing technology and products designed with  consumers being top of mind.

This certification recognizes that Samsung TV’s Eye Comfort mode provides an optimal viewing experience for consumers spending more time indoors by automatically balancing light exposure and colour temperature to mimic natural outdoor light.

The circadian rhythm has a cycle of inhibiting melatonin secretion for dynamic activities during the day while activating its release for a comfortable sleep at night. Melatonin is a hormone known to help you sleep well.

VDE’s certification validates the benefits of Eye Comfort mode on users’ circadian rhythm by measuring circadian stimulus at different illuminance levels and assessing the impact on melatonin suppression. The certification process complies with the Circadian Stimulus method based on the research results of the Lighting Research Center in the U.S.

This is one of many verifications Samsung TVs have received representing ongoing efforts to put users and their experience front and center of product design. Previously, Samsung TVs have received ‘Eye Care’ certification from VDE[4] and ‘Glare-Free’ validation from UL[5], along with ‘Pantone Validated’ and ‘SkinTone Validated’ certifications from Pantone[6], both signifying that certified Samsung screens satisfy the organization’s colour accuracy standards.

Samsung’s 2023 lineup brings everyday sustainability by decreasing its carbon footprint throughout its product lifecycle

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today unveiled its new Neo QLED, MICRO LED and Samsung OLED lineups alongside lifestyle products and accessories ahead of CES^® 2023. This year’s lineup features advanced, innovative products with a focus on enhanced connectivity and personalized consumer experiences.

Samsung’s wide portfolio of offerings helps users build their own tailored experiences with the devices they use every day with better, more intuitive technology. This year, Samsung takes it one step further in its ever-evolving journey to simplify consumers’ everyday lives with seamless multi-device integration across its entire ecosystem through its smart home platform SmartThings.

Premium and Connected Experiences with Neo QLED

Samsung’s latest suite of Neo QLED 8K and 4K televisions provide consumers with premium options that suit their every need. Neo QLED picture quality is powered by Samsung’s advanced Neural Quantum Processor which supports the Quantum Mini LED-lit TV with 14-bit processing and AI upscaling, enabling features such as Shape Adaptive Light Control and Real Depth Enhancer Pro for a three-dimensional, lifelike picture.

Samsung’s 2023 Neo QLEDs also go beyond just a clear picture with a high-resolution panel and Samsung’s proprietary algorithm that power Samsung’s new Auto HDR Remastering. It uses AI deep learning technology to analyze and apply real-time High Dynamic Range (HDR) effects on Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) content on a scene-by-scene basis, making SDR content brighter and livelier for absolute immersion.

In addition, SmartThings users no longer need to purchase a separate SmartThings dongle to connect and control Zigbee and Thread devices. In 2023, the SmartThings Zigbee & Matter Thread One-Chip Module will be built directly into Samsung products. And for the ultimate connected device experience, SmartThings automatically syncs devices for easier control of not just Samsung devices, but also third-party compatible appliances and IoT devices[1] for seamless connection.

• 3D Map View: Designed to let users conveniently control and monitor connected devices, Samsung’s 3D Map View provides users a bird’s eye view of their home and all of their SmartThings devices at-a-glance.

Broadening Viewing Options with MICRO LED and Samsung OLED

Thanks to its modular nature, MICRO LED is not bound by shape, ratio and size, making it completely customizable to fit a consumer’s desired set up. In addition, it comes without bezels so regardless of configuration, the boundary between screen and real life is seamless.

And to provide consumers with even more viewing options, Samsung’s 2023 OLED lineup is now available in 55, 65 and the new ultra-large 77-inch models. Samsung’s latest OLED lineup comes with Quantum Dot technology that has been developed for Samsung’s Neo QLEDs as well as Neural Quantum Processors to retain OLED technology’s core strengths, while simultaneously improving brightness and colour representation.

The expanded lineup comes with a 144Hz refresh rate and all of Samsung’s smart features, including Samsung Gaming Hub. And for the first time on an OLED TV, Samsung OLED[2].

Finally, to expand viewing options, Samsung offers Samsung TV Plus on all of its smart TV lineup. The free ad-supported TV (FAST) and video-on-demand service delivers over 1,800 channels globally, including over 50 owned & operated channels, reaching 24 countries and 465 million devices globally across the company’s TV and mobile devices[3]. It is 100% free and doesn’t require any downloads, subscriptions or additional devices.

Explore a New World of Gaming with Samsung Gaming Hub

The Samsung Gaming Hub, the new home for gaming on Samsung Smart TVs, offers users unlimited access to thousands of their favourite games from partners such as Xbox, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, and Utomik with no downloads, storage limits or consoles required. Moreover, it is an intuitive gaming experience where players can simply switch on their TVs and play.

Samsung Gaming Hub, which was launched last year, delivers incredible picture quality and an entirely new way to approach gaming – using multitasking, expanded partnerships and 4K streaming. Players can even watch multiple types of content at the same time.

In 2023, upgrades for GameBar 3.0 with MiniMap Sharing[4] and Virtual Aim Point elevate the experience for every type of gamer. MiniMap Sharing enables players to see the minimap of their game at-a-glance on any display while Virtual Aim Point designed for first-person shooters (FPS), allowing players to view more noticeable crosshairs in any game so they can make the perfect shot.

The Samsung Gaming Hub is also available on Samsung smart monitors and gaming screens – including the Odyssey series. With Odyssey Ark, gamers can rotate their screens vertically or horizontally based on their desired orientation and enjoy immersive games with a 55-inch 1000R curved screen and powerful sound.

Elevate Your Lifestyle with Expanded Lifestyle Lineup and New Features

Consumer’s lifestyle needs are constantly shifting. To navigate this landscape, Samsung has unveiled new lifestyle products and features to elevate the user experience, allowing consumers to customize the way they view and experience screens.

• The Premiere 8K: In 2023, Samsung is introducing a new iteration of its laser projector, The Premiere 8K. The ultra-short throw projector lineup now comes with an 8K model, giving users the same ultra-large screen in even higher resolution. It supports a maximum screen size of 150-inches for a massive screen, with exquisite resolution to match.
• The Freestyle with Smart EDGE Blending: The Freestyle is the ultimate flexible device, allowing consumers to watch content of their choice at any time. In 2023, users can take advantage of the new Smart EDGE Blending feature, which allows users to combine two The Freestyle devices to watch content in a 21:9 configuration with no manual lining up or adjusting. The 2023 Freestyle will also support Samsung Gaming Hub for more entertainment on the go.
• New UI and Accessories: In 2023, Samsung is introducing a new and improved Samsung Art Store with features such as previews at-a-glance and extended content offerings, mimicking the experience of visiting a gallery or museum. Also new is a metal bezel option for a modern and luxurious look on The Frame. Samsung’s latest TV lineup can be mounted with the optional Auto Rotating Wall Mount & Stand, which brings the automatic rotation and vertical media viewing experience of The Sero to other TVs, including The Frame and Neo QLEDs.

Everyday Sustainability with Samsung Screens

In line with the latest environmental strategy announced in 2022, Samsung is consistently working with partners and customers to be eco-conscious, providing a broader impact throughout the product’s lifecycle. As a result, each step is made more environmentally friendly, from making the manufacturing process more efficient to reducing packaging and changing how consumers use their products.

• Recycled Materials: For the 2023 lineup, Samsung will replace 20 percent of the bracket parts used for the SolarCell Remote with recycled ocean-bound plastic. In addition, the main parts of the power board use recycled aluminum cans and copper, replacing approximately 12 percent of the original materials used.
• Reducing Manufacturing Impact: Samsung designed a light-weight injection mold that requires fewer materials with a structure that can be repurposed, bringing down the overall energy consumption and raw materials needed for production.
• AI Energy Saving Mode: Through SmartThings, Samsung’s 2023 TVs support AI Energy Saving Mode, helping users save more energy in new ways. SmartThings Energy Service on TVs helps reduce carbon footprint of connected devices with simple change, such as automatic switches to energy saving mode on specific devices when not in use. And with 3D Map View, it will be easier to get a holistic overview of connected devices and put energy saving ideas into practice.
• Eco-Packaging: In 2023, Samsung Eco-Packaging will come with minimal print so less ink is consumed in its production and Samsung will use paper tape to reduce the use of plastic in its packaging. In addition, package sizes will be reduced to lower overall carbon emissions.

Multidimensional Soundscape and Audio Quality with AI

A premium screen experience is only to be complete with ultra-immersive audio. While Samsung TVs come with impressive built-in speakers, they also have powerful audio features and devices to enhance the viewing experience for something truly cinematic.

• AI Sound Remastering: In 2023, Samsung’s flagship TV and soundbar offer Sound Remastering which utilizes AI to remaster each sound object to ensure voices are clear, sounds are totally enveloping and that each sound experience is just the right volume.
• New Soundbars: In addition to the flagship soundbar, HW-Q990C, with 11.1.4 channel sound supporting Dolby Atmos, the ultra-slim HW-S800B offers powerful immersive sound in Dolby Atmos from a 3.1.2 channel device that is just 40mm tall and 38mm deep. It is easily placed with any TV and still offers clear sound with punchy bass.
• Q-Symphony: A new iteration of harmony between the TV and soundbar, 2023 new Q-Symphony will provide evolved sound for which the soundbar taps into the TV’s Neural Processing Unit to analyze audio signals and process each sound with more detail.

In 2023, by pairing Samsung TVs with Samsung Soundbars, these devices will offer our most powerful, customizable and personalized ecosystem available to date.
