Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.  announced RM of 21^st century pop icons BTS as the official ambassador for Samsung Art TVs.[1] The appointment is one of RM’s official activities following his highly anticipated return from mandatory military service in Korea.

As a globally recognized art connoisseur, RM has made headlines for his deep appreciation of the arts, including visits to leading museums and his private collection of contemporary art work. Now, in his role as Samsung Art TV ambassador, RM will bring his distinctive voice and passion for visual art to Samsung TV users around the world.

Samsung Art TVs, known for their fusion of advanced display technology and artistic expression, serve as immersive platforms where art comes to life. Through Samsung Art Store[2] — a subscription-based service featuring over 3,500 high-resolution artworks in 4K — users can now enjoy curated content with insights from RM himself. His personal reflections and commentary on select works will be accessible directly on Samsung Art Store, providing fans and art enthusiasts with a unique window into his aesthetic sensibilities.

As part of his new role, RM appeared at Art Basel, which is one of the world’s premier international art fairs and is held in Basel, Switzerland. Previously at IFA 2023 held in Berlin, Germany, SUGA surprised visitors as he greeted them from a display screen, inviting them to experience The Freestyle 2^nd Gen.

The Freestyle is Samsung’s light, portable projector which recently debuted its 2^nd generation model. The Freestyle 2^nd Gen aims to redefine portable screens with its newly added “Smart Edge Blending” feature and “Gaming Hub” compatibility.

Available to hear on Samsung social channels, Over the Horizon has received an all-new interpretation produced by SUGA of 21st century pop icons BTS.’ Following the great success of his first remix at last year’s Galaxy Unpacked, SUGA has put an upbeat, positive spin on Samsung’s signature musical theme with ‘Over the Horizon 2022 produced by SUGA of BTS’.

Since Over the Horizon debuted with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy SII in 2011, Samsung has collaborated with several artists to reimagine the musical theme and create a signature sound that would motivate people to push their limits. Globally known for his record-producing ability, SUGA is the first artist to remix the sound twice, producing back-to-back tunes for the latest Galaxy foldables.

SUGA’s goal when working on the 2022 Over the Horizon theme was to encourage people to look towards a bright future and think about all the excitement waiting ‘Over the Horizon’. The new remix focuses on positivity so that when people hear it, they can feel hopeful and upbeat.

While Over the Horizon originated as a rock-themed ringtone, the updated versions by SUGA have put a new-age orchestral pop, fusion jazz, and even Nordic orchestra-inspired spin on the original theme. Much like the Galaxy ecosystem, Over the Horizon is constantly being updated to reflect what is happening in the world. The partnerships forged with artists invited to remix the theme reflect the spirit of openness and collaboration that underline the Galaxy philosophy.

As part of excitement associated with the launch of the new Galaxy foldables, Samsung was delighted to invite SUGA to return to the mixing desk for an all-new version of the Samsung theme and accompanying music video.

 ‘Over the Horizon 2022 produced by SUGA of BTS’ will be available as a ringtone through a future software update on Galaxy devices in Canada^[1].

Ten years ago, Samsung set out to create a signature sound that would motivate people to push their limits. Since then, it has been reimagined with each new edition of the Galaxy S Series. In the year of its tenth anniversary, beloved musical artist SUGA is the latest to produce the tune for the new editions of the Galaxy Z Series.

In the recent Voices of Galaxy campaign, SUGA explained what Over the Horizon meant to him. “It was an honour to work on a song that’s been part of Galaxy’s 10-year history. Everyone knows that it’s the Galaxy theme song just by its melody,” he said, adding “Like the title ‘Over the Horizon,’ it’s about going beyond our limits. No one knows what will unfold, but our dreams make us go farther than ever.”

After being launched in 2011 as a Rock-themed ringtone on the Galaxy S2, the theme has been kept contemporary with each new style. Previous versions have put new age, orchestral pop, fusion jazz, and even Nordic orchestra inspired spins on the original theme. In such a big year for Over the Horizon, as the tune turns ten, Samsung was delighted to invite SUGA to produce the theme.
