Recognized this year with the 2023 ENERGY STAR Appliances Manufacturer of the Year award, Samsung Canada remains dedicated to making meaningful contributions to fight climate change by developing more energy-efficient products.

This year, Samsung launched SmartThings Energy, a new app that monitors energy use and provides recommendations to help users reduce the energy consumption of their appliances. For example, with AI Energy Mode in SmartThings Energy, users can monitor and reduce their washing machine’s energy usage.

Sustainability remains a key strategic pillar for Samsung Canada. Over the last year, Samsung introduced 51 new ENERGY STAR certified product models. In addition, Samsung’s ENERGY STAR certified product portfolio now includes 100 per cent of dishwashers, refrigerators and front-load washers. This is one of the many ways that Samsung Canada continues to showcase its efforts to deliver a more connected and sustainable experience for consumers.

Additionally, other notable Samsung accomplishments this year include:

• Amplified ENERGY STAR initiatives via social media channels, including its participation in the ‘12 Days of ENERGY STAR’ campaign, ENERGY STAR Day, ENERGY STAR Awards, and an ENERGY STAR promotional offer on Earth Day.
• Partnered with influencers to promote ENERGY STAR certified appliances, gaining an impressive 130 million impressions across social media platforms.
• Highlighted Samsung ENERGY STAR certified appliances prominently at national retailer partner stores across Canada with in-store point-of-purchase materials.

Samsung Electronics Canada is proud to announce it has received its twelfth consecutive award from ENERGY STAR Canada, a program of Natural Resources Canada, for its continued contributions to protecting the environment. Recognized this year with the 2022 Special Recognition Award, Samsung Canada remains committed to promoting products as energy efficient options for consumers and businesses.

With sustainability as one of its strategic pillars, Samsung Canada committed to increasing its range of certified products by creating 28 new models last year. Samsung’s ENERGY STAR certified product portfolio now includes 100 per cent of dishwashers, 100 per cent of refrigerators and front-load washers, as well as 60 per cent of top-load washers and 82 per cent of dryers.

Additionally, other notable Samsung accomplishments in 2021 include:

• Collaborated with Efficiency Manitoba to provide incentives to consumers who purchased ENERGY STAR certified products in addition to raising awareness on certified appliances and their benefits.
• Fully embraced social media to promote the ENERGY STAR brand, including participation in the ’12 Days of ENERGY STAR’ campaign, Efficiency Manitoba’s rebate program, as well as showcasing its 2021 ENERGY STAR Award.
• Continued training about the ENERGY STAR program both in-store and on its website, as well as training employees and raising awareness with an emphasis on on-site training.
• Prominently displayed promotional material highlighting certified products in its national retailer partner stores across Canada.

The award marks the fourth win for Samsung Canada in this category with previous wins as the Appliance Manufacturer of the Year in 2017, 2018 and 2019, in addition to winning the ENERGY STAR Canada Award for Sustained Excellence in 2020.

Key factors in Samsung Canada’s recognition as Appliance Manufacturer of the Year include an increase in the percentage of its ENERGY STAR certified products within Samsung’s offerings as compared to 2020. Samsung’s ENERGY STAR certified product portfolio now includes 100 percent of dishwashers, 87 percent of refrigerators, 89 percent of clothes washers and 84 percent of clothes dryers.

Moreover, other notable accomplishments include:

• Expansion of Samsung’s product line to offer varying sizes of appliances, especially as demand for smaller appliances becomes prevalent in Canada.
• Partnership with BC Hydro for its fall program to provide incentives to consumers who purchase ENERGY STAR certified products and to raise consumer awareness.
• Trained employees and in-store retail sales associates of ENERGY STAR certified products and their features.
• Participation in ENERGY STAR Canada’s ’12 Days of ENERGY STAR’ social media holiday campaign, among other marketing communications using Samsung Canada-owned channels and retail partner channels.
