Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the availability of Galaxy AI[1] features on more Galaxy devices through a new One UI 6.1 update engineered to further the democratization of mobile AI. The update will be available across the Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Z Fold5, Z Flip5 and Tab S9 series, starting to roll out from the end of March. Aligning with the recently launched Galaxy S24 series[2], this update elevates the standard of users’ Galaxy experience through a hybrid approach that combines on-device and cloud-based AI.

The features include the ability to adjust message tone and translate messages in 13 different languages using Chat Assist[3]. Galaxy users can experience the power of real-time interactions through Live Translate[4], which provides voice and text translations for phone calls. With Interpreter, users can also engage in spontaneous conversations with locals while traveling as the split-screen feature generates text translations for live conversations.

Search functions are improved through Circle to Search with Google[5], which generates intuitive search results with a swift circle-motioned gesture. Transcript Assist can also easily transcribe meeting recordings and generate summaries and translations.

With Galaxy AI, Samsung is doubling down on its role in unlocking individuals’ creative potential. Galaxy’s latest update delivers a suite of Galaxy AI tools that encourages creative freedom even after a photo is taken. Through Generative Edit[8], AI-supported devices can easily resize, reposition, or realign objects in photos to perfect a great shot. Users can also polish any photo faster and easier with Edit Suggestion[9]. No need for multiple re-shots as Instant Slow-mo[10] can generate additional frames for slow-motion videos to capture action-packed moments.

One UI 5.1 expands upon the recently upgraded camera features announced with the Galaxy S23 series. Galaxy users now have greater flexibility to create professional quality photos with Expert RAW[4] features, now available directly as part of the Galaxy Camera app. Simply select “More” while taking a photo to capture high-quality shots in their raw format. In addition, enhanced AI-based Photo Remaster automatically improves deteriorated details of images by improving brightness, fine-tuning details and making colour corrections even in backlit scenes. It also removes unwanted shadows and reflections for a picture-perfect photo.[5]

New navigation improvements also make it easy to find photos within the Gallery app and create shared family albums[6]. Simply tap a person’s face in a photo to conduct a search for more images while the Gallery app searches for faces of loved ones to recommend for family photo albums.

Samsung has also been focused on giving Galaxy users greater control over their devices by customizing various user interface aspects. One UI 5.1 delivers several exciting new features that allow people to fine-tune nearly every aspect of the mobile experience – from appearance, to communications, actions and more. Samsung introduced new features that can understand how devices are used and make recommendations accordingly. For example, the new dynamic weather widget analyzes current conditions and creates a custom design that reflects the climate.
