Samsung Canada has once again been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, marking the Company’s eighth consecutive year on the list. The annual competition, hosted by The Globe and Mail, identifies top employers in Canada who have exceptional human resources programs and forward-thinking workplace policies.

Samsung Canada’s commitment to employee health and well-being, sustainability and CSR, together with exceptional growth and development opportunities for employees, all contributed to the recognition.

The recognition of Samsung Canada’s exceptional culture and employee experience comes after Samsung was ranked first on Forbes’ list of the World’s Best Employers^[1] in October for the third year running. Forbes’ global competition surveys employees from across 57 countries on their current employer.

For the seventh year in a row, Samsung Electronics Canada has been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. The annual competition, hosted by the Globe and Mail, identifies the top 100 employers in Canada who are leading their industries in offering exceptional workplaces and giving back to their communities.

As part of the evaluation process, employers were asked to share information on the innovative programs they offer in support of their employees and community. Samsung Canada impressed the Globe’s editorial team with their range of forward-thinking programs and incentives that work to attract and retain top talent, in addition to significant investments in community and charitable projects.

Covering everything from employee health and wellness, to engagement activities, training and development opportunities, and community involvement, some of the Samsung Canada initiatives that stood out during the judging process include:

• Increased mental health resources: To help support employees’ improved health and wellness, Samsung increased mental health benefits coverage. Additionally, Samsung hosted a wellness month which included various activities for employees to focus on Social, Physical, Financial and Mental Wellness.
• Supporting communities: This year, Samsung Canada proudly partnered with the Jays Care Foundation to equip over 500 Indigenous children and youth with Samsung Chromebooks in support of their educational pursuits.
• Encouraging employees to take time off: Samsung increased the number of ways for employees to unplug, including half days before all long weekends, and greater flexibly in carrying over unused PTO days into the following year.
• Greater WFH support: Samsung offered enhanced WFH supports this year, including Samsung Dollars, “curbside pick-up” for loaning out of office equipment, training for all employees on virtual meetings, making WFH accessible for everyone with enhanced virtual meeting technology (WebEx) and ongoing communication around a safe return to work.

Samsung Electronics Canada has once again been recognized as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People in 2021. The annual editorial competition highlights employers who offer the nation’s best workplaces and programs for young people.

Samsung Canada has put in place a variety of initiatives that have earned the company recognition as a leader in attracting and retaining young talent. Highlights include:

• The Leaders of Tomorrow Employee Resource Group (ERG), whose focus is on supporting the development of Millennial employees and preparing them for roles in leadership. The ERG also supports the Samsung Canada annual wellness fair, and raises funds and awareness for Sick Kids through their annual candy-gram fundraiser.
• The Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Challenge, a national educational initiative for Canadian students to apply STEM-related knowledge to find creative solutions to solve challenges in their local communities. Samsung Canada has awarded over $45,000 in cash and technology grants to students across Canada.
• Partnerships with post-secondary institutions including Vancouver Community College to create a Samsung Tech Institute Home Appliance certification course and Centennial College to launch a Mobile Application Development program.
• Hosting a unique challenge that empowers Samsung Canada co-op students to provide solutions or new ideas on a variety of topics such as strategy and marketing. As part of the challenge, students present their proposals to the organization’s leadership team. Winning teams receive prizes, such as Samsung products, and may even see their ideas implemented.
