Following the U.S. launch of Conan O’Brien TV on Samsung TV Plus earlier this year, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. and Conan O’Brien have announced the expansion of the channel– featuring content from the Emmy Award-winning show “CONAN” – to Samsung TV Plus users in Australia, Canada and New Zealand starting December 13.

Available only on Samsung TV Plus, Conan O’Brien TV joins Samsung’s free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) and video-on-demand (AVOD) service that delivers over 2,500 channels globally, and thousands of shows and movies to users across 535M active devices globally across TV and mobile.

Embodying Conan’s unique brand of comedy, the Conan O’Brien TV channel delivers 24/7 programming, uniquely curated as 30-minute segments featuring the best of Conan’s late-night archives, including sketch comedy, celebrity guests and more.

With hundreds of hours of programming, consumers will have access to some of Conan’s most popular celebrity interviews with A-listers like John Hamm, Ryan Reynolds, Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Kevin Hart, Will Ferrell, Lisa Kudrow, Gal Godot, Kate McKinnon, Martin Short, Martha Stewart, Jack McBrayer, Mindy Kaling, Jack Black, Justin Bieber and more. Viewers can also expect fan-favorite skits like Triumph the Insult Dog and Clueless Gamer, as well as appearances from Andy Richter, Jordan Schlansky and Sona Movsesian.

Samsung TV Plus offers nearly 2,500 completely free linear channels globally, reaching 24 countries around the world. Samsung TV Plus is accessible on 2016-2023 Samsung Smart TVs, Galaxy devices, Smart Monitors, Family Hub refrigerators, and the web.

The pieces are an addition to the existing collection available since last October, when Samsung and the Thyssen Museum presented an exhibition named “The Impressionists and The Photography”, composed of six iconic art pieces by impressionist painters from the museum. The new additions include masterpieces painted by artists such as Claude Monet or Auguste Renoir. The Frame now boasts a catalogue with 44 art pieces from the Thyssen Museum that users can enjoy in vivid picture quality. The art pieces are available as a single purchase for $27.99 or a monthly subscription to the Art Store for $7.99.

Some of the highlights of this collection are key pieces of art in Post-impressionism such as The Stevedores in Arles by Vincent van Gogh or Bottle, Carafe, Jug and Lemons by Paul Cézanne. Artistic movements such as German Expressionism are also covered. Woman on a Divan, by August Macke, stands out, and so do several pieces by the Italian landscape painter, Canaletto. The collection also incorporates one of Picasso’s disciples and master of Spanish Cubism, Juan Gris, and his work, The Smoker, in addition to the remarkable female artist, Lyubov Popova, and her masterpiece Painterly Architectonic (Still Life: Instruments), known for its reference to Constructivism.

This is the third collection from Spanish art gallery to be part of The Frame partnership. With Thyssen Bornemisza Museum joining the collections, Samsung Art Store now has more than 1,200 art pieces and photographs in 4K quality from museums and galleries around the world such as the Prado Museum in Madrid, the Albertina Museum in Vienna, the Tate Modern in London, the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, the Hermitage State Museum in Saint Petersburg, Magnum Photos and LUMAS.

For the third year, Samsung Canada returned to Art Toronto (ArtTO) alongside over 100 international and Canadian galleries, to celebrate the intersection of art, design and television.  Founded in 2000, ArtTO is Canada’s international contemporary and modern art fair, located in the city’s downtown core. Offering unique access to the Canadian art market, the fair is an important annual art event in Canada and provided Samsung Canada with an exciting opportunity to inspire art lovers.

The Frame and The Serif are more than just TVs. They are designed to contribute to the décor of a space even when they’re off. Each combine innovative design with stunning QLED picture quality and Smart TV features to provide consumers with seamless and intuitive TV functionality.

To create this year’s installation, Samsung partnered with Westgrove, a full-service interior design firm based in Toronto and Hamilton. Founded by Keri McLellan and Andrea Pierre, Westgrove created an approachable, noteworthy booth design and concept, highlighting both The Frame and The Serif as elements of the overall aesthetic, and featuring wallpaper supplied by NEWWALL.

Offering a sleek, stunning design, The Frame was curated with an artful approach and designed in collaboration with world-renowned designer, Yves Behar. Together with international art consultant, Elise Van Middelem, Behar helped bring to life an innovative TV designed to appear just as a picture frame would on a wall. 

When not in use, motion and brightness sensors mean that The Frame is like a work of art. With the Samsung Art Store, Canadians can access an ever-growing and diverse library of artwork from some of the most prominent museums, galleries and artists around the world[1].  

The Serif has been re-introduced in Canada with a new 2019 model. The Serif features a unique, modern shape, offering an alternative to the traditional wall-mounted TV model, and is available in a 55” in either white or blue colour. 

The TV complements a space in the same way a piece of furniture would, and allows you to turn your TV into a digital canvas with Ambient Mode, including two exclusive patterns from the Bouroullec brothers palette[2].

The Frame and The Serif blend seamlessly into any living space and the One Invisible Connection hides cables so you can connect all your devices without any messy or tangled wires. The addition of interchangeable frames[3] in walnut, oak, white or black finishes for The Frame allows for customization and coordination with other pieces of art or décor in your home. The contemporary design of The Serif features a sleek base and signature I-shaped profile, creating a sharp and sophisticated presence that elevates any room’s design aesthetic. 

When switched on, The Frame and The Serif each feature a crisp and clear 4K QLED screen with HDR10+ technology, so users can view the content just the way the director intended. The Frame and The Serif both come equipped with Bixby, Samsung’s intelligence platform, so owners can use voice commands to bring up their favourite shows and control compatible smart lights, soundbars, cameras, door locks and more via the Samsung SmartThings dashboard[4].

Samsung Electronics Canada recently released a new augmented reality mobile application revolutionizing the way consumers find their next TV. Through the use of your smartphone, you can see exactly what a big screen TV from Samsung will look like on your wall or entertainment centre before purchasing. Will a 98” TV fit on your wall? Or are you better off with a smaller, but still impressive, 75”? No need to break out your measuring tape, Samsung has got you covered with its “Samsung TV True Fit” app for Android and iOS devices.

Samsung continues to deliver premium innovation in home entertainment with its lineup of QLED 8K TVs. The best part? They come in 75” to 98” screen sizes, perfect for any die-hard TV aficionado. The unique augmented reality app allows you to see what a TV will look like in your home, before you even buy it – giving new meaning to the phrase, “try before you buy.”

“Augmented reality is starting to become a part of our daily lives, and this Samsung app is a beautiful functional use case of AR”, said Jennifer Richey, CSO, Gravity Jack. “To be able to see the product scaled to size in your space without tape measures or cardboard cutouts to see if it fits is AR at its finest.”

With its customers in mind, Samsung enlisted augmented reality pioneers, Gravity Jack, to help create an application combining futuristic technology with the future of retail shopping and virtual product display. Samsung wanted to provide consumers an opportunity to pick the right TV, at the right size, while also making the shopping experience fun, stress-free and easy.

To use the app, users can simply download the application onto their Android or iOS device, select their desired model and size, point their phone camera at the wall or TV stand, and viola! The application will scan the wall or TV stand automatically and place it in the user’s desired space.

The app also boasts a feature allowing users to place their TV manually if they would like to move it. Once the TV is in place, users can move around the TV, get closer or further away, and view it from different angles. After a user has chosen the correct model and size for their home, they can then search for the nearest retailer in their area that sells Samsung TVs.

The event featured a clip from the ground-breaking CNN Films documentary, ‘APOLLO 11’, shown in stunning 8K definition, with attendees hearing first-hand how this 8K content was arguably “the next best thing to actually being in space”, according to Canadian astronaut Robert Thirsk, Samsung Canada’s honoured guest of the evening. A physician, engineer and astronaut with degrees from the University of Calgary, MIT and McGill, Dr. Thirsk shared stories from his two missions in space which earned him Canadian records for the longest space flight and the most time spent in space. He thrilled the audience with captivating stories about his first mission, as the payload specialist aboard space shuttle Columbia’s Life and Microgravity Spacelab mission, and his second mission, as the first Canadian to complete a long-term stay in space when he lived aboard the International Space Station for six months in 2009. In 2013, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada, among his many other distinctions.
