<p>Samsung Electronics today announced the launch of Digital Home Key, a new feature within Samsung Wallet built on Aliro, a standardized smart lock access protocol that enables Samsung Galaxy users to unlock compatible smart door locks using their smartphone. Beginning in March, this new feature expands Samsung Wallet’s digital key capabilities beyond vehicles to the home, offering a secure and convenient way for users to unlock their homes.</p>

<p>“As we continue to evolve Samsung Wallet, delivering trusted mobile experiences remains at the core of our innovation,” said Woncheol Chai, EVP and Head of Digital Wallet Team, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “Through close collaboration with our partners and in alignment with the Aliro standard, Digital Home Key brings the same level of security and ease Samsung Galaxy users expect from Samsung Wallet to their homes.”</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img width="1000" height="667" src="https://img.global.news.samsung.com/global/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/27131637/Samsung-Mobile-Samsung-Wallet-Launches-Digital-Home-Key-for-Smart-Door-Locks_Main1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-171001" /></figure>

<p>Samsung Wallet serves as a single, secure destination for essential items such as payment cards, IDs, passes and digital keys. With the introduction of Digital Home Key, Samsung Wallet now supports access to both vehicles and homes, integrated across the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem to support users’ daily routines.</p>

<p>Once a compatible smart door lock is set up through <a href="https://www.samsung.com/us/smartthings/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung SmartThings</a><a href="#12bb7302-0b12-411b-8b32-217722a2c769" id="12bb7302-0b12-411b-8b32-217722a2c769-link">1</a> using Matter, the global smart home standard, users can add a Digital Home Key to Samsung Wallet as part of the door lock onboarding process. Depending on device and lock capabilities, users can unlock their door by tapping their smartphone using near-field communication (NFC) technology,<a href="#b5ed7cb7-8f46-44d9-8a1b-fee6d2c9c488" id="b5ed7cb7-8f46-44d9-8a1b-fee6d2c9c488-link">2</a> using hands-free access with ultra-wideband (UWB)’s<a href="#395547e1-1b06-4ba0-bbc4-5a7d6367e015" id="395547e1-1b06-4ba0-bbc4-5a7d6367e015-link">3</a> proximity detection or remotely through the app.</p>

<p>Samsung Wallet’s Digital Home Key adopts the Aliro standard, an industry-standardized communication protocol developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), to enable secure, interoperable digital keys for smart locks. Along these lines, Samsung is collaborating with leading smart lock brands to support Samsung Wallet Digital Home Key, including Aqara, Nuki, Schlage and Xthings.<a href="#71afd3b6-3cbf-494e-bfb1-d478f42d2a57" id="71afd3b6-3cbf-494e-bfb1-d478f42d2a57-link">4</a></p>

<p>Digital Home Keys are securely stored within Samsung Wallet on the device and safeguarded by Samsung Knox,<a href="#3dd30521-5aa8-41a1-8679-e4f5d319273e" id="3dd30521-5aa8-41a1-8679-e4f5d319273e-link">5</a> Samsung’s industry-leading security platform. The solution is designed to align with EAL6+<a href="#5b58f783-e10d-4d29-9b7b-ca20136a04b4" id="5b58f783-e10d-4d29-9b7b-ca20136a04b4-link">6</a> grade certification standards, providing robust protection against unauthorized access to digital keys.</p>

<p>With this level of protection, users maintain control over their Digital Home Key, even if a device is misplaced. Access can be remotely managed or removed using Samsung Find, while biometric or PIN authentication within Samsung Wallet ensures that only authorized users can manage and use their home keys.</p>

<p></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Availability</strong> </h2>

<p>Samsung Wallet Digital Home Key began rolling out in select regions in March 2026 and will expand in alignment with the launch timeline of compatible smart lock brands.</p>

<p>Samsung Electronics today announced that Samsung Wallet now supports Digital Key compatibility for select Toyota vehicles,<a href="#98237d4f-a3cc-494f-ad86-c70cd6cb849d" id="98237d4f-a3cc-494f-ad86-c70cd6cb849d-link">1</a> starting in January 2026. This new feature will enable users of compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphones to unlock, lock and start their Toyota vehicles, providing a convenient and secure driving experience.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img width="1000" height="667" src="https://img.global.news.samsung.com/global/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/13100135/Samsung-Mobile-Samsung-Wallet-Introduces-Toyota-Digital-Key_Main1.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-169568" /></figure>

<p>“Samsung Wallet is designed to remove friction from daily life through the combination of seamless convenience and uncompromising security,” said Woncheol Chai, EVP and Head of Digital Wallet Team, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “By bringing Digital Key support to Toyota vehicles, starting with the 2026 Toyota RAV4, we’re extending those benefits to more people, so that Galaxy users can get on the road faster, safer and more easily.”</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img width="1000" height="563" src="https://img.global.news.samsung.com/global/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/13102644/Samsung-Mobile-Samsung-Wallet-Introduces-Toyota-Digital-Key_Main2.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-169577" /></figure>

<p>Samsung Wallet gives Samsung Galaxy users a single, secure destination for essentials including payment cards, IDs, passes and various digital keys. Its integration across the broader Samsung Galaxy ecosystem allows for smooth connectivity and enhanced security designed to support users’ daily routines.</p>

<p>Once a compatible Toyota vehicle is linked to Samsung Wallet, Samsung Galaxy users can use their smartphone to access and start the vehicle without the need for a physical key, with Ultra-Wideband (UWB)<a href="#b47ac8e5-bd01-414e-921a-72003ab7bd79" id="b47ac8e5-bd01-414e-921a-72003ab7bd79-link">2</a> technology enabling hands-free entry and Near Field Communication (NFC)<a href="#cf9b9a2e-c651-49b8-896a-2720594126b7" id="cf9b9a2e-c651-49b8-896a-2720594126b7-link">3</a> technology. UWB technology, a standardized communication protocol set by the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC), also strengthens overall security by reducing the risk of unauthorized vehicle access with precise and reliable functionality. Galaxy users can also share their Digital Keys with trusted contacts through Samsung Wallet. This shared access can be updated or revoked at any time, providing flexibility for multi-driver households or temporary use.</p>

<p>As part of Samsung Wallet, Digital Keys are securely stored directly on the device and protected by Samsung Knox,<a href="#3a78789c-d96a-4cc7-bc98-c85fe6181d7b" id="3a78789c-d96a-4cc7-bc98-c85fe6181d7b-link">4</a> Samsung’s industry-leading security platform. <p>If a device containing a Digital Key is lost or stolen, users can remotely lock or delete the key through the Samsung Find service. With biometric or PIN authentication in place, Samsung Wallet adds an extra layer of protection to help ensure secure and private vehicle interactions.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Availability</h2>

<p>Digital Key functionality for select 2026 Toyota RAV4 models will begin rolling out this month in the United States and Canada, followed by a wider rollout in Europe<a href="#981cbd55-2c70-45f0-b74f-1521680756b5" id="981cbd55-2c70-45f0-b74f-1521680756b5-link">6</a> aligned with the launch timeline of Toyota vehicles.</p>
