Samsung Electronics today announced that the new Galaxy Note10+ 5G has received the number one ranking on the DxOMark both front facing and rear facing cameras, as well as the top score for video. The DxOMark scale provides a ranking system to evaluate the image and video quality of smartphone cameras. The Galaxy Note10+ 5G was unveiled during last week’s Unpacked event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, alongside the Galaxy Note10+ which delivers the same image and video quality experience.

The Galaxy Note10 and Galaxy Note10+ put state-of-the-art tools to capture stunning video and photos at users’ fingertips and have been built with content creators and everyday users in mind. Through a combination of advanced imaging technology and software, the Galaxy Note10 takes videography and photography to the next level, allowing the user’s social media channels, stories and posts to make an even bigger impact.

The Galaxy Note10+ 5G scored first place distinction on the DxOMark Selfie scale for its front facing camera with a score of 99, and it also received first place, earning an overall mobile score of 113, for its rear cameras.

The Samsung Galaxy Note10 and Note10+are equipped to capture pro-grade video without requiring extra gear. Featuring Live focus video and Zoom-In Mic to enhance and amplify video content, Note10 brings priority subjects – both images and audio – to the forefront. New Super steady stabilizes the footages – even during Hyperlapse mode.

Galaxy Note10 users can also edit-on-the-go, without having to connect to their PC. The native video editor enables easy editing functionality right on the phone. With the S Pen, users can choose the precise moment they want to trim. Additional features, including Screen recorder, AR Doodle, 3D Scanner and Night Mode on the front facing camera, round out an upgraded Galaxy Note10 camera experience that has resulted in this high accolade from DxOMark.

DxOMark – a trusted industry authority for camera, lens and smartphone image quality measurements and ratings – conducts its DxOMark Selfie and DxOMark Mobile tests following a rigorous scientific protocol using industry-grade lab tools. The score sums up their engineers’ assessment of a devices’ photo and video quality to provide consumers with neutral and reliable test data about smartphone camera performance. DxOMark assigns sub-scores for photo and video quality and then combines them into an overall score.

Samsung Electronics today announced that Galaxy S10+ has taken the number one rank on the DxOMark Selfie scale, a new ranking system to evaluate the image quality of smartphone front cameras.

The way we express ourselves has evolved from the verbal to the visual. Today, we communicate with images—Snaps, GIFs, emojis, and Instagrams. We don’t just take pictures, we share stories. And because the way we communicate has changed, we believe the phone needs to change along with it. With the Galaxy S9+, Samsung introduced our most advanced camera ever.

And now DxOMark—the trusted industry standard for camera and lens image quality measurements and ratings—has just announced that the Galaxy S9+ has earned the top spot in their mobile camera rankings. With a score of 99 points, we’ve earned DxOMark’s highest-ever combined photo and video rating for a smartphone camera. The Galaxy S9+ photo score from DxOMark is 104 points – the highest ever photo score from the organization.

Among all the exciting innovations, two technical innovations did more than any others to push the Galaxy S9+ to the top of the DxOMark rankings: the Dual Aperture1 and the Super Speed Dual Pixel Sensor. They work together to help you take amazing photos in any lighting condition and capture everyday epic moments.

If you’ve ever taken a grainy photo at a dimly lit birthday dinner or frowned as your friend’s smile got washed out by bright sunlight, then you know that most of the time we take photos in imperfect light. The Dual Aperture lens automatically adapts like the human eye, and with an F stop of 1.5 it’s the widest lens of any smartphone—delivering the brightest possible pictures in extreme low-light environments. Meanwhile, the Super Speed Dual Pixel sensor goes to work, using its dedicated processing power and memory to combine up to 12 distinct images into one amazing, high-quality photo.

DxOMark’s ranking affirmed the value of these camera innovations with every photo we take—from midnight to high noon. But they’re not the only reasons you’ll want to experience for yourself what the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ camera does to reimagine the way you communicate, share and experience the world.

In Super Slow-mo mode, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ lets you capture 960 frames per second—four times more than the Galaxy S8. While manual capture gives you complete control of the shot, the new Automatic Motion Detection mode will start recording as soon as it senses movement in the frame,. After capturing the shot, music is added automatically and instantly creates three shareable GIFs to easily share with friends and family.

There are even more ways to personalize what you create and share with the new camera with augmented reality (AR) technology. Using advanced AR technology, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ analyze a 2D image of you and creates a 3D animated AR Emoji, a personalized emoji that’s uniquely you.

AR Emoji messages are saved in a standard AGIF file format, so you can send them to anyone using your favorite messaging app. To create one, it’s as easy as taking a selfie.

The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ AR technology also reimagines the way you interact with the world around you. Bixby, Samsung’s intelligence platform, is integrated into the camera and automatically overlays information directly on top of the image the camera is pointing at. With new Bixby features2 built right within the camera, you don’t have to go through several steps or applications to get information about local landmarks, read a foreign menu or street sign in 54 different languages with Live Translation3, or shop4. If you see a cool product, Bixby will show you shopping options from retailers such as Walmart and Sam’s Club. The new Makeup feature lets you try on different looks and shop for your favorites. You can even point the camera at the meal in front of you, and in conjunction with AI, Bixby can estimate the calories and track them in Samsung Health.

As I hope you can see, we did more than design a new smartphone camera. We reimagined it so you can capture the perfect image in almost any light, capture moments and tell stories in new, creative ways.

1 Rear camera F1.5 lens. Dual aperture (F2.4/F1.5) on rear wide-angle lens only. Light comparison based on the Galaxy S8.

2 Voice command works with a select, growing number of third-party apps; see Apps with Voice in Bixby for a list of compatible apps. Service ability may vary by country. Instant access to Bixby not available while in: video and voice recording, call, Ultra Power Saving Mode, Emergency Mode, Kids Mode, DeX, DeX Station, and Car Mode.

In its analysis, DxOMark named the Galaxy S7 edge as the new smartphone camera champion. The Galaxy S7 edge achieved the highest Mobile Score for outstanding image quality.

From blink-of-an-eye autofocus delivering fewer blurry photos, to superior low-light photography, to significant advancements in video capture, the Galaxy S7 edge gives users a chance to capture every memory reliably and true to life. Central to this performance is the groundbreaking dual-pixel technology in the Galaxy S7 edge camera—previously found only in expensive DSLR cameras. The Galaxy S7 edge dual-pixel sensor, wider F1.7 apeture, and bigger pixels work together to make sharp and beautiful photography possible in the low-light environments where most people take most of their photographs—rendering the Galaxy S7 edge’s speedy camera all the more versatile and its photographs all the more stunning.

Today, millions of people rely on their smartphones as their go-to camera, and making these cameras faster, easier to use and better than ever is a Samsung priority. As the DxOMark analysis affirms, if you take the Galaxy S7 edge for a test drive, the results will speak for themselves.

Having achieved outstanding scores in a number of DxOMark Mobile industry standard tests, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge has become the top-ranked device in the company’s database, which grades mobile devices based on the technical measurements of their lenses and cameras. In addition, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 holds on the second place.

Overview: Outstanding Photo and Video Quality

Achieving an overall DxOMark Mobile Score of 86, the new Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are the new leader for smartphone image quality. This score puts it seven points ahead of its predecessor, the Galaxy S5, which now sits in fourth place overall with 79 points.

The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge’s overall DxOMark Mobile score of 86 is a combination of its performance results across still and video tests in the Photo and Video sub-scores. Achieving a Photo sub-score of 88 and a Video sub-score of 84 means that the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are slightly better for still photography, but both results put the device ahead of the rest of the smartphone competition.

Mobile Photo Sub-scores

Analysis of the data behind the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge’s DxOMark Mobile Photo sub-score of 88 identifies the smartphone’s strengths and weaknesses. Its strengths are good exposure, fast autofocus and good detail with minimal noise, characteristics that each received a score of 90 points or more. More importantly, its excellent Exposure & Contrast score of 90 was obtained while shooting in both bright light and low-light environments, with the latter often the downfall of smaller-sensor cameras.

Video Sub-scores

Video capabilities on the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are strong, and although its score of 84 is not quite as high as its Photo sub-score of 88, it is still among the best performing phones tested by DxOMark Mobile. Its ability to shoot fine detail with low noise in both bright and low light, good exposure and good white balance and color contribute to this high score.
