Samsung Electronics announced it will “up the game” at Gamescom 2017 with the launch of the Samsung CHG90 QLED Gaming Monitor, the world’s largest gaming monitor that delivers an IMAX-style cinematic viewing experience. Gamescom 2017 is the largest annual gathering of computer and video game industry’s media, developers, retailers and companies serving the gaming market, taking place August 22-26 at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany.

Gamescom attendees can experience the CHG90 at Samsung booth (hall 10.1, booth B080, A081) as well as EA Games (hall 6.1, booth C-060), Bluehole (hall 9.1, booth B-051), Ubisoft (hall 6.1, booths C-030, B-030, B-021 and B-020) and Xbox booths (hall 8.1, booth C-070).

“Gamers can have a more immersive and realistic experience with the new CHG90 monitor,” said Seog-gi Kim, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “This is the latest in our series of innovative gaming monitors designed to delight users and give them an edge over competitors while also increasing their comfort.”

The Samsung CHG90 is the 49-inch super ultra-wide 32:9 HDR (High Dynamic Range) gaming monitor. The monitor has a 3840 x 1080 resolution and an 1800R curvature to immerse users in gameplay. It provides a seamless gaming experience, larger field of view and greater depth perception versus other gaming monitors in the market today. An over-sized screen enables peak performance throughout gameplay while the 32:9 aspect ratio allows gamers to see game scenes in their entirety.

A key feature of the CHG90 is the rapid 144Hz screen refresh rate, which provides flawless and smooth action scenes that can be adjusted to 60Hz/120Hz when needed. Other features include a 1ms (MPRT) response time, more realistic and lifelike colors with Quantum dot and HDR technology, and a game mode option.

Equivalent to two 27-inch 16:9 monitors side by side, the 32:9 super ultra-wide screen also provides ultimate multitasking flexibility. Gamers no longer have to worry about multi-monitor set-ups: with no bezels impeding the view and a single power cable for minimal clutter, gamers can multitask seamlessly. In addition, the Easy Setting Box enables gamers to partition the screen or display multiple screens of different sizes with just one click, and the Picture-by-Picture functionality allows them to connect and view input sources without degrading the original image quality.

The CHG90 also boasts an appealing design. It features a matte black body on top of a circle stand – a minimalist design that eliminates distractions, allowing gamers to be fully immersed in the game. The monitor features a hinge with a superlative ergonomic design, height adjustments, swivel, tilt and VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) mounting. The CHG90 supports two HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) ports, DisplayPort and audio out connectivity options.

The CHG90 will be available throughout Europe, including Germany, following Gamescom 2017. In addition, attendees of IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung) 2017 in Berlin (September 1-6, 2017) can also experience the CHG90 at the City Cube Berlin.

By expanding its presence in the gaming marketplace, Samsung Electronics will offer consumers innovative ways to get in the game. Especially with its first curved gaming monitors (the CF591, CF391 and CF390 models), Samsung expects to help transform the PC gaming experience.

First unveiled at CES in January 2016, Samsung’s curved gaming monitors are designed to match the natural shape of the human eye. This design includes a sharp 1800 mm (1800R) curvature radius that offers panoramic and immersive viewing angles and a less visually-strenuous experience. The CF591, CF391 and CF390 monitors feature a 3,000:1 contrast ratio that produces darker blacks and minimizes light leakage for a clearer and more complete on-screen presentation.

In entering the gaming market, Samsung also aims to deliver a smoother gaming experience that maintains viewers’ attention. Each of Samsung’s curved gaming monitors is supported by AMD FreeSync Technology Over HDMI®, which synchronizes screen refresh rates with users’ AMD graphics card frame rates to reduce input latency, stutter and lag.

“As the multi-billion dollar gaming industry continues to evolve, gamers demand high-quality displays that bring a vivid, lifelike experience to their PC,” said Seog-gi Kim, Senior Vice President, Visual Display Business, Samsung Electronics. “We are excited to showcase how our new curved monitors bring unprecedented visual quality to the market’s most recognizable and popular games. As we continue to build our presence in this competitive sector, we look forward to further enhancing our displays to meet gamers’ most pressing visual and performance needs.”

Samsung’s CF591 curved monitors can easily be found at EA’s EA Play gaming convention, currently taking place (June 12-14, 2016) at the Novo at L.A. Live in Los Angeles. EA will use the CF591 monitor to preview several of its upcoming game releases, including FIFA 17, Madden NFL 17 and Titanfall 2, during the event.

Samsung also will launch a bundle promotion enabling players to experience the next-generation competition environment first-hand. Between June and September 2016, any U.S. or European consumer who purchases a new Samsung CF39 Series or CF591 curved monitor will receive a complimentary copy of a select EA games title*.
Promotion participants will receive a promo code on their receipt, via email and/or through the Samsung website (www.samsung.com).
Samsung Electronics invites CES 2016 attendees in need of a break from the rigors of the show floor to unwind within the confines of a virtual basketball court or battlefield. As part of a unique interactive showcase, Samsung transformed some of its CES booths (11906, 11929 and 12429 in the LVCC Central Hall) into the Ultimate Gaming Room, highlighting the enhanced immersion and comfort of its new gaming monitors, featuring games from Electronic Arts Inc. (EA).

Visitors to the Ultimate Gaming Room can play three of EA’s videogame titles, NBA LIVE 16, Battlefield 4 and Need for Speed, on Samsung’s entertainment-focused monitors. Each of the room’s three gaming stations are spotlight a different Samsung monitor design, ranging from curved to UHD to wireless charging, and enable attendees to view a variety of EA games with enhanced visual presentation.

“As video games evolve to include more detailed graphics and realistic features, players need high-quality monitors capable of delivering an uninterrupted and fatigue-reducing viewing experience, to fully benefit from these advances,” said Seog-gi Kim, Senior Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “At CES 2016, Samsung is bringing the full potential of the modern gaming experience to life, through our Ultimate Gaming Room. Our state-of-the-art gaming displays bring new levels of clarity and comfort to videogames while maintaining the sophisticated visual environment consumers expect.”

The opening of the Ultimate Gaming Room coincided with the unveiling at CES of Samsung’s first curved gaming monitors (CF591, CF391, CF390 and CF398.) These 1800R curvature monitors are designed to match the natural shape of the human eye, offering wide viewing angles while reducing strain on players’ eyes, even during extended use. Samsung’s curved gaming monitors further prevent eye fatigue through embedded flicker-free and Eye Saver technologies, which maintain a consistent visual presentation. Players also benefit from reduced input latency, stutter and lag, through the monitors’ AMD FreeSync Technology Over HDMI®.

Samsung’s Ultimate Gaming Room also allows visitors to view EA games on several of its other pioneering gaming monitors. The UE850 and UE590 UHD gaming displays combine the core eye-preserving visual benefits with on-screen rapid motion clarity and a fast 1ms response time. For added convenience, Samsung’s SE370 monitor enables players to charge their mobile devices through a compatible wireless pad as they play.
