Samsung Electronics’ entire line of standalone signage has earned a Silver rating from the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT), an environmental rating system managed by the Green Electronics Council (GEC) in the United States.

EPEAT evaluates products across a range of sustainability criteria, including hazardous substance use, energy efficiency, recycled packaging and corporate social responsibility. This recognition is especially noteworthy as every model in Samsung’s standalone signage lineup is now certified with a Silver rating. Additionally, three touch signage models — the QBC-T (24-inch) and QMB-T (43-inch and 55-inch sizes) — also received the Silver rating.

Since becoming the first company in the signage industry to earn the Reducing CO2 certification from the Carbon Trust in the United Kingdom in 2022, Samsung has continued to advance its sustainability efforts by incorporating recycled plastics into its products.

As a result, in 2025, Samsung’s standalone 4K UHD signage lineup — the QMC series, ranging from 43- to 98-inch models — has received both Product Carbon Footprint and Product Carbon Reduction certifications from TÜV Rheinland in Germany.

Explore the infographic below to see Samsung’s EPEAT Silver-certified signage solutions.

Samsung Electronics today announced its new digital signage lineup at InfoComm 2023, North America’s largest audiovisual trade show, taking place in Orlando, Florida from June 14 to 16.

“Technology is a vital part of any business, and the innovative signage lineup we’re showcasing at InfoComm empowers businesses across industries to grow,” said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “The newest addition to The Wall lineup is especially exciting, making production faster and easier in TV, film and other creative industries.”

Introducing The Wall for Virtual Production

At InfoComm, Samsung unveiled a new dedicated display, The Wall for Virtual Production (IVC Model), which will be available globally starting from today.

Virtual production studios can use ultra-large LED walls to create virtual content, integrating them with real-time visual effects technology to reduce the time and cost of content production. The Wall for Virtual Production leads the market in the application of this technology.

The Wall for Virtual Production’s LED display features pixel pitch options of P1.68 and P2.1, dedicated studio frame rates (23.976, 29.97 and 59.94Hz) and genlocking, which can synchronize the screen with a camera’s video signal. The display also boasts a refresh rate of up to 12,288Hz, a max brightness of 1,500nits, a 35,000:1 fixed contrast ratio (for P2.1) and up to 170-degree wide viewing angles. All these new features combine to enable an unprecedented level of picture quality for virtual content.

The Wall for Virtual Production is based on modular technology, allowing for a variety of installation options for different production environments and needs, ranging from a perfectly flat screen to up to 6,000R curvature. It can also be hung or stacked with other screens, and it is designed to be resilient to the dust and particles that are common in production environments.

The integrated Virtual Production Management (VPM) solution and the intuitive interface it provides make it easy to manage the screen and facilitate the highest-possible picture quality. To display colors as accurately and consistently as possible, The Wall for Virtual Production also features 3D lookup tables (LUTs) for color correction, wide-gamut HDR color processing and color adjustment between individual cabinets or modules. The VPM is also capable of detecting and resolving any potential LED-related issues.

At InfoComm, Samsung will be collaborating with Lux Machina, a pioneer of virtual production and modern ICVFX (In-Camera Visual Effects), to showcase The Wall for Virtual Production in actual use. Lux Machina has implemented technology like this in television series like “The Mandalorian” and “House of the Dragon,” as well as in broadcast events like the League of Legends World Championship, NFL Honors and The ACM Awards.

“The Wall has been designed for virtual production,” said Zach Alexander, President of Lux Machina. “With a high refresh rate, true color representation and a wide viewing angle, we believe that display technologies like this could help usher in the next generation of visual effects, making it much easier for studios to deliver high-quality virtual production projects.”

Samsung is also working with Wētā FX as a technical partner. Wētā FX is a New Zealand-based digital visual effects company that has produced visual effects for some of the highest-grossing films ever made, such as “The Lord of the Rings” series, “Avatar” and “Avatar: The Way of Water.”

“Samsung’s The Wall for Virtual Production provides excellent color rendition and picture quality, and with the screen properties and black levels, one is able to control the precision of light it sends into a volume with ease. We look forward to working with the innovative team at Samsung and seeing how new techniques and capabilities can improve the experience for our storytellers,” said Kimball Thurston, CTO of Wētā FX.

The All-New Samsung QxC Series Crystal UHD Signage

In addition to The Wall, Samsung is introducing its full lineup of 20 new models in the globally available QxC Series Crystal UHD Signage Series. The displays feature significant upgrades in design and performance for unparalleled features and picture quality in any commercial environment.

The QxC lineup includes five QHC displays with 700nits of brightness (75”, 65”, 55”, 50” and 43”), eight QMC displays with 500nits of brightness (98”, 85”, 75”, 65”, 55”, 50”, 43” and 32”) and seven QBC displays with 350nits of brightness (98”, 85”, 75”, 65”, 55”, 50” and 43”).

The bezels on the QxC series are consistent and even on all four sides of the display, using the same thickness and dimensions to create a symmetrical design. The VESA mounting holes are in the center of the displays to ensure secure mounting. The series is 28.5mm thick, 40% slimmer than the previous model.1

All QxC displays offer an easy and intuitive new user interface, 4K UHD resolution, Tizen 7.0 for optimized performance of web services and industry-leading durability. SmartView+ wirelessly connects the displays to up to six devices at once, while anti-glare panels minimize light reflection for an unimpeded viewing experience. Plus, all QxC models have an Eco Sensor that can detect the brightness of the surrounding environment and optimize the brightness of the display accordingly.

Samsung Ushers in the Era of All-in-One LED Displays

Samsung is also unveiling the LED All-in-One (IAC Model), a 130-inch full HD LED screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Its pre-assembled frame kit allows users to install the display simply by hanging it on a wall.

The LED All-in-One has a slim 56mm design (up to 64mm with the Slim Fit Wall Mount). The screen provides 1,000nits of peak brightness and a 3,840Hz refresh rate, resulting in stunning video quality. The built-in Samsung S-Box has support for integrated media play and Microsoft 365, delivering the latest commercial tools to make the most out of the large LED display in business environments.

Industry-First Carbon Footprint Certification From TÜV Rheinland

Separately, Samsung Electronics announced that its 2023 Smart Signage lineup has earned a series of certifications for environmentally preferable products from highly recognized institutes in Germany and the U.S.

The 2023 Smart Signage (QMC Model) and The Wall All-in-One (IAB Model) have become the first signage models to receive a product carbon footprint certification from TÜV Rheinland, a global testing body. Established in 1872 and headquartered in Cologne, Germany, TÜV Rheinland provides quality and safety certification services to multiple industries.

The organization calculates its carbon footprint certification by evaluating the amount of greenhouse gases generated throughout the entire product lifecycle, ranging from production to disposal, based on internationally recognized standards. The certification from TÜV Rheinland follows another recent and notable recognition for Samsung from the Carbon Trust.2

The 2023 Smart Signage (QMC Model) has also earned an ENERGY STAR 8.0 certification from the Environmental Protection Agency for its energy efficiency and an Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) certification in recognition of its eco-conscious efforts, such as its recycled plastic use.

With the emergence of social video platforms and wide access to high-resolution cameras, it’s safe to say we’re living in the golden age of accessible, high-quality video content. As more content creators join these spaces and competition increases, many are focusing on making the best quality videos possible to stand out. More than ever, creators are carefully choosing their PC monitors based on image quality and color accuracy to ensure their creations meet their audiences’ expectations.

Samsung Electronics recently unveiled the ViewFinity S8 (Model Name: S80PB), a high-resolution monitor adopting a wide range of features for creative professionals who rely on devices, such as monitors and mobile devices, to create new content. It’s a new benchmark for high-resolution monitors. Here, Samsung Newsroom unboxes the ViewFinity S8 to see how this new product can help emerging creators.

Power and Connect Devices Clutter-Free With USB Type-C

After opening the box, you can see that the package is comprised of the monitor, HDMI cable, USB Type-C cable and the power cable.1 The simplicity of package is made possible thanks to the USB Type-C cable that easily connects the monitor to various devices without additional cables.

Fewer cables on the desk are what creators want as they use multiple devices, including a drawing tablet. A single USB Type-C connection not only displays the external devices to the monitor but provides fast charging with up to 90W power and 10Gbps data transfers without a separate power cable. Even with laptop without LAN port, you can use Ethernet2 just by connecting wired LAN port to monitor instead, which transmit LAN signal to connected laptop.

Installation of the ViewFinity S8 is simple. First, connect the stand’s neck to its base and fasten the bolts. The work is already halfway done. Next, connect the assembled base to the monitor by pushing down until there is a click.

Once the power is on, the first thing you will notice immediately is the picture quality that stands out. Its UHD resolution (3840 X 2160) has four times more pixels than Full HD, revealing hidden details with greater depth. ViewFinity S8 offers a wide color gamut up to 98% of DCI-P3 for lifelike color. In addition, its 178° wide viewing angle delivers brilliant color and punchy images from various angles.

Contrast is as important as color accuracy, especially for videos, since it determines the content quality and realism. Specifically, ultra-fine contrast is critical in expressing scenes with a dark background and bright lights like a starry night sky. ViewFinity S8 meets the standard of Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) DisplayHDR 600, making bright areas brighter and dark areas darker, presenting true-to-life images.3

The Best Content Creation Environment With the Matte Display and Ergonomic Stand

Compared to conventional,4 glossy monitors, ViewFinity S8 minimizes glare and reflection. As the world’s first UL-verified Glare Free monitor, Matte Display is applied on the top of the panel, reducing distraction caused by glare.

Many creators use a monitor hood to prevent glare caused by indoor lighting and sunlight. To recreate this environment, we tried installing a monitor hood, and the process was not easy. The hood is heavy, has difficult screen positioning and it costs you extra money.

ViewFinity S8 dispels such concerns by adopting the Matte Display, which reduces light reflection and allows users to view images more clearly without an additional attachment. This also means you can use your desk space more efficiently.

▲ (left) 2021 ViewFinity S70A. (right) 2022 ViewFinity S80PB

ViewFinity S8 also introduces a whole new world of ‘deskterior,’ a portmanteau of ‘desk’ and ‘interior,’ allowing you to transform your desk into a perfectly customized working environment. Setting the monitor on a different spot or adding a décor item will not only boost your mood but also improve work productivity.

You can notice the true value of ViewFinity S8 when creating vertical content. Of course, there are monitors that can pivot, but often the rotation forces you to reinstall the monitor hood. In contrast, ViewFinity S8 users can freely switch the monitor horizontal or vertical, allowing you to create and edit vertical videos at the original ratio. You can also have the best view for vertical content like a long-scrolled text or digital comics.

Furthermore, ViewFinity S8 features a height-adjustable stand that can tilt and swivel. The monitor can also be installed on a wall. ViewFinity S8 offers the most optimal angle to give you the best working space and enhance productivity without having to adjust the height of your desk or chair.

Easy On the Eyes With Intelligent Eye Care

Working at night and for hours at a time, both can lead to eye strain. ViewFinity S8’s Intelligent Eye Care such as Adaptive Picture, Eye Saver Mode and Flicker Free features can help alleviate eye strain.

Adaptive Picture is a useful feature for content creators who work at night. Adaptive Picture, which automatically adjusts brightness and color temperature depending on the surroundings, and the ViewFinity S8 immediately optimizes picture quality. If you want to minimize the stress on your eyes, the Eye Saver Mode smartly reduces blue light emissions and the Flicker Free helps protect your eyes from flickering screens.

Evolution Towards Sustainability

ViewFinity S8 is also built with the environment in mind. Samsung used recycled ocean-bound plastics in the rear covers of ViewFinity S8. Samsung’s Eco Savings Plus technology reduces power consumption by utilizing its built-in photo resistor to adjust optimal brightness and color temperature. You can reduce the power consumption up to 10% by setting the Eco Savings Plus Mode. Samsung ViewFinity S8 is recognized industry-wide with EnergyStar, TCO5 and EPEAT sustainability certifications.

Monitors are one of the most important gadgets for content creators to pay more attention to the details in their work. To elevate the quality of their content, first they must create the optimal working space that is distraction-free, ergonomic and equipped with devices that meet the demands. The Samsung ViewFinity S8 is the perfect fit that will help creators unleash their creativity and full potential.

Samsung Electronics announced that the company has implemented new environmentally sustainable processes and initiatives, including low-impact product manufacturing practices and resource acquisition. These new changes join the company’s existing efforts to reduce its environmental footprint across its product portfolio.

As part of Samsung’s “Together for Tomorrow” vision, the company has applied recycled materials in its select monitor and digital signage products to minimize resource waste. Samsung is now using more recycled materials in its monitor and digital signage products, including the rear cover of its monitors and digital signage to increase resource circularity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Digital signage solutions including the 2022 Smart Signage also received certified energy efficiency grades that rise to new industry standards. Samsung also has incorporated eco-conscious packaging featuring recycled materials in all signage products since 2021.

To improve both resource and energy efficiency, Samsung is using a SoC (System on Chip) solution that, when applied to the monitors and signage, allows content to be displayed without any additional devices, saving both waste and energy. Plus, Samsung has extended its product lifespan with enhanced durability to further minimize waste.

In recognition of its efforts for product efficiency, Samsung has earned an ENERGY STAR certification,1 in addition to an EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) certification for its energy efficiency improvements and recycled plastic use in its 2022 Smart Signage lineup (QHB, QMB, QBB).

Samsung was also the first in its industry to achieve the reducing CO2 label, certified by the Carbon Trust, for its LCD Signage lineup (LH55QHB), LED signage (LH012IWA) and Business Monitor (LS34A65). In addition, Samsung has developed and applied a new material, made with repurposed ocean-bound plastics, to the 2022 high resolution monitor S8 to reduce marine waste.

In recognition of its global 2022 sustainability initiative, which strives to incorporate environmental sustainability into everything it does, Samsung has been announced as the winner of ‘Sustainability Innovation of the Year’ at the AV News Awards on May 10.

“We are committed to ensuring everyday sustainability throughout our signage portfolio and playing a major role in reimagining a better planet,” said Hyesung Ha, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “As we are grateful for the recognition of our efforts, we plan to make each step count while we collectively change production practices for a sustainable future.”

The Samsung booth at 2022 Integrated Systems Europe is located at Gran Via, Hall 3, 3F600, in Barcelona from May 10-14, 2022.
Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8+ have received a Gold rating from the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT), the definitive rating system for evaluating electronic devices’ eco-friendliness. The devices are the first smartphones to earn the certification, which assesses, among other criteria, material selection, product longevity, the manufacturer’s social contributions, and energy conservation during production and use.

The certification is a joint initiative of the non-profit Green Electronics Council and Underwriters Laboratories (UL), a global safety science organization. The rating was earned in recognition of Samsung’s efforts to produce the devices in a sustainable way, which included increasing the efficiency of their chargers, using recycled plastics in accessories, and other eco-friendly measures.

This distinction is the second that the Galaxy S8 and S8+ have received from UL. This past June, the organization’s UL Environment division awarded both devices ECOLOGO Gold Certification to the ANSI/UL 110 Standard for Sustainability for Mobile Phones.

In addition to receiving a top EPEAT rating, both the Galaxy S8 and S8+ have also been given a “Carbon Footprint Label” from the Carbon Trust, a leading authority on carbon-reduction programs and certifications, as well as a “Vitality Leaf” eco-label from the Russian Ecological Union.
