Samsung Electronics has launched the next generation of the S Health app, which provides users with more interactive and easy-to-use health functions. The updated app will also include compatibility with non-Samsung Android devices.

S Health version 4.5 is an all-in-one companion for your healthy lifestyle. With the new S Health, users can track their everyday activities, get coaching to reach daily goals, and improve their fitness with curated programs.

With S Health, users can set goals, such as “be more active,” “eat healthier,” or “feel more rested,” and receive tips and rewards for a more interactive experience. Specific programs can also be selected to help accomplish fitness milestones, from a beginner’s first 5K to an avid runner’s 10K time goal including voice guidance to keep runners at their target pace.

Built-in sensors in the Samsung Galaxy and Gear devices will help track heart rate, steps, walking, running, cycling, hiking, sports, sleep, food, water, caffeine, weight, blood pressure, blood glucose and Sp02 so that users can easily get a comprehensive overview of their health and fitness status.

S Health supports seamless connection with Samsung’s wearables and smartphones starting from the Samsung Galaxy S3 and now supports non-Samsung Android devices as well.

Samsung’s line of business-oriented SMART Signage monitors enhance workplace efficiency by delivering improved convenience and comfort. These monitors are an all-in-one, versatile alternative to traditional business displays that often are complex and expensive to maintain:

• SE790C and SE650C Curved Monitors – Designed to match the natural curve of the human eye, Samsung’s curved business monitors minimize the fatigue-driving distortion and reflection common in flat screen alternatives. Equipped with a height-adjustable stand (HAS) and wide viewing angles configurable to specific user needs, these displays also enable workers to view monitors comfortably for longer periods, extending productivity.
• SE370 Wireless Charging Monitor – Set to be available to European customers in September 2015, Samsung’s recently unveiled SE370 monitor (24- and 27-inch models) is the world’s first to offer integrated wireless charging for all Qi-supported mobile devices. The SE370 monitor condenses multiple charging ports into a single embedded circular wireless charging area, eliminating the workspace clutter common as users work between multiple cables and ports.

Samsung Electronics recently opened the development of IoT.js, a web-based Internet of Things (IoT) platform that connects lightweight devices. Examples of lightweight devices include micro-controllers or devices with only a few kilobytes of RAM available.

The IoT.js project is one of numerous activities Samsung is undertaking to make all devices interoperable in the IoT space by enabling more devices to be interoperable, from complex and sophisticated devices such as home appliances, mobile devices and televisions, to lightweight and small devices such as lamps, thermometers, switches and sensors. Ultimately, the interoperability of all of these devices will allow people to enjoy a smarter, more convenient lifestyle.

The IoT.js platform is comprised of JerryScript, a lightweight version of the JavaScript engine, and IoT.js is a lightweight version of node.js. JavaScript is a script language on the web and node.js is a platform that builds with the JavaScript engine. IoT.js platform makes JavaScript and node.js lightweight, thereby increasing interoperability among devices.

JavaScript and node.js require large memory and high capacity. It would have been difficult for all “things” to be connected, and that much more critical for making these technologies applicable to lightweight devices such as lamps or thermometers.

Additionally, the IoT.js is interoperable with existing technologies, allowing developers to easily and conveniently develop IoT applications using their existing development methods.

It is important to note that the focus of this project is not to disclose the final outcome of development, but rather to fully open the platform from the start of the development process. Through opening the platform, Samsung and developers can collaborate, starting from the design stage, throughout the entire development process.

To eliminate these types of color expression gaps and maintain a fully-aligned, consistent and captivating large-scale presentation, Samsung video walls feature advanced factory tuning, innovative hardware and exceptional user calibration tools. By combining these advanced color management solutions with its professional-grade SMART Signage displays, Samsung video walls enable seamless delivery of digital content for informational and promotional impact.

Samsung also is introducing its first video wall solution designed specifically for use in broadcast and studio settings. The 55-inch UDE-S video wall display offsets the color discrepancies that can result from large angle image and video transmission. The UDE-S displays feature a specialized panel for low temperature (2,800-6,500K) usage and 100-300nit brightness that ensures a consistent, brilliant presentation and life-like picture.

Further, all Samsung video wall displays shipped in 2015 will be factory calibrated and include Samsung Color Expert software, a free program that enables users to manage brightness and color uniformity. Samsung’s factory calibration process technology also manages the white balance of each display for uniformity across multiple displays in large scale, while multi-step greyscale calibration provides natural shading and gradation without color distortion. In light of the rapid proliferation of LED displays in various corporate, retail, entertainment, and transportation environments, Samsung LED Signage integrates a wide range of innovative LED solutions with the latest advancements in display technology. Samsung Direct View LED technology is ideal for creating seamless digital signage with superior picture quality and high resolution pixel pitch. Designed for retail, corporate, transportation and broadcasting environments, this 1.15mm pixel pitch LED signage features 133 inches of continuous, Wide Quad High Definition (WQHD) resolution (1.5 times as many pixels as Full HD) and delivers an impressive, eye-catching consumer experience out-of-the-box.

Samsung Electronics announced the expansion of its curved monitor line up with five new models – highlighted by the 29-inch SE790C, 31.5-inch SE590C and 27-inch SE591C.
