Built for the next era of the smartwatch experience, the Galaxy Watch4 series is the latest line of Galaxy smartwatches with a suite of advanced features made to fit you. From a variety of straps and customizable watch faces to a host of diverse features and apps to choose from, you can personalize your Galaxy Watch4 series to be just as unique as you are. But it doesn’t stop there. Now, Galaxy Watch4 users can take customization to the next level and access new features with a software update, available from October 20th.1

Here is a look at some of the new features coming to the Galaxy Watch4 series.

Your Watch Face, Exactly How You Want It

With more watch faces and complications to choose from, the latest update enables you to build the perfect watch face to match your personality and fit into your lifestyle.

Now, you have four new faces to choose from – so you can see whatever information you tend to check the most with just a glance at your wrist. If you’re committed to smashing your fitness goals – or just want to keep an eye on your health stats – you can customize the new Info Brick watch face with the stats you care about the most, from heart rate and stress to daily activity status. Or, you can choose a watch face that displays in-depth weather forecast, a basic dashboard or live wallpapers inspired by Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 – all of which can also be customized.

Complications are a great way to quickly access important information at-a-glance and launch the apps you use the most. Now, you can mix and match up to four complications to display on your Animals watch face – from battery life to reminders, messages, your step count and much more. You can now also choose a moving GIF for your My Photo+ watch face, rather than just a static photo, to create more exciting and lively watch faces that are completely unique to you.

The update also brings more playful animations to your Steps Challenge watch face for keeping track of how you’re doing in your step challenge – that will help keep you feeling motivated. An animated bear will follow you for every step of your competition – from stretching before you start a challenge to cheering when you win.

More Convenience With Added Gesture Control

Gesture controls enable you to do more using simple hand movements. In addition to moving your forearm up and down twice to receive calls and rotating your wrist twice to reject calls or dismiss alarms, the update includes a new hand motion that can act as a helpful shortcut to activate a chosen app or feature. By doing a simple ‘knock, knock’ motion with your wrist, you can open a pre-selected app, open the list of workouts, turn on a light or even create a new reminder. You can access an app or feature – your favorite or most frequently used – all without lifting a finger or pressing a button.

Keep Yourself or Loved Ones Safe With Improved Fall Detection

First introduced to the Galaxy smartwatch line in 2020, Fall Detection was capable of recognizing if the wearer had fallen down during exercise. Now, on the Galaxy Watch4 you can opt to adjust the sensitivity so that it is capable of detecting a fall even when you’re standing still.2 Plus, Galaxy Watch4 can send out an SOS notification to up to four pre-selected contacts – helping you to take care of yourself and your loved ones.

On top of that, you can enjoy a 60-day free Strava subscription – just for Galaxy Watch users.3 Get the most out of your Galaxy Watch with the Strava app. Train smarter and stay motivated with enhanced workout analysis, training plans, safety features and more.

1 Availability may vary by market or operator. The update will initially be available on Bluetooth versions of the Galaxy Watch4 series and will roll out to LTE versions shortly thereafter. Requires the latest version of the Galaxy Wearable app and Galaxy Watch4 plugin.

2 To notify an emergency contact, a network connection is required. GPS accuracy may be affected by obstructions to the satellite signal, such as buildings.

3 Strava’s 60-day free subscription is available on previous Galaxy Watch models (Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Watch Active, Galaxy Watch Active2 and Galaxy Watch3) as well as Galaxy Watch4. Some users may not be eligible for this trial if they have previously signed up for two or more Strava trial offers, or if they were a subscriber within the last six months. Strava service availability varies by market.

Samsung Electronics announced a software update, bringing new health, communication, and connectivity features to the Galaxy Watch Active2, available starting today.1

Here is a look at the new features that will be available on your Galaxy Watch Active2 soon.

Improve Your Athletic Performance

Become a better runner, improve your form, and prevent injury with the Running Analysis2 feature. The Galaxy Watch Active2 now offers a standalone running analysis and can provide a variety of detailed metrics, such as asymmetry, regularity, stiffness, vertical oscillation, ground contact time, to help you improve performance and reduce injury.

On top of this, you can also measure VO2 max, an indicator of the maximum amount of oxygen a person can utilize during intense exercise. It is a common measurement used to determine an athlete’s fitness and performance capacity, which can track the progress in your training routine and help you improve your endurance.

Watch Out for Your Loved Ones, Even From Afar

The Fall Detection feature3 helps you care for yourself and your loved ones, even when you are apart. When a potential fall is detected, you will immediately be given the option to send an SOS notification to up to four pre-designated contacts, ensuring that help is never too far away.

More Convenient Communication From Your Wrist

Rather than having to turn to your phone after receiving a notification on your smartwatch, you can easily view emoticons and photos directly from your wrist. Plus, with Smart Reply, you are provided a suggested response4 for both messages and images, with advanced photo recognition technology, so you can send a reply, even when you are in a hurry.

Also, when you get a message, your watch will also automatically show your chat history, instead of just a single message, so you can quickly pick up your conversation. No more constant switching between devices – you can do more directly from your wrist.

With the latest update, you also get the latest fun replies. You can now select to send both AR Emoji Stickers5 and Bitmoji Stickers6 straight from your watch, so you can truly express yourself in your messages while on-the-go.

Effortlessly Control Your Mobile Experience

You can control your mobile experience with the Galaxy Watch Active2 more effortlessly, including giving you instant access to your playlist on your phone. With this latest update, you have an even more seamless music experience across your devices – from your smartphone to Galaxy Buds device to your smartwatch.

Additionally, your Galaxy Watch Active2 will now support the scroll capture feature, so when you take a screenshot from your smartwatch, it is automatically sent as an image to your smartphone. That way, you can capture message threads, workout information and more and quickly save them for future reference.

1 Availability may vary by market or operator. The update will initially be available on Bluetooth versions of the Galaxy Watch Active2 and will roll out to LTE versions shortly thereafter. Requires the latest version of the Galaxy Wearable app and Galaxy Watch Active2 plugin.

2 When you select “running” under the exercise feature in Samsung Health, your Galaxy Watch Active2 will automatically perform running analysis and measure your VO2 max. For an accurate reading, you should only measure VO2 max while running outdoors at a high intensity for at least 20 minutes.

3 To activate on mobile: Open the Galaxy Wearable app > select ‘SOS’ > Turn on ‘Detect falls’ and add the contact that you want to receive your SOS notifications. Fall Detection recognizes falls when the user is engaged in dynamic motion, not when staying still. To notify an emergency contact, a network connection is required. GPS accuracy may be affected by obstructions to the satellite signal, such as buildings.

4 Available in 9 languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Korean, Polish, Russian, Spanish and Ukrainian.

5 Compatible with Galaxy smartphones with One UI 2.5 or above and an AR Emoji Camera; Supports a maximum of 45 stickers in total: Three AR Emoji avatars, with a maximum of 15 stickers each.

6 Compatible with Galaxy smartphones with the Bitmoji app; Supports 30 stickers maximum. This feature is available to users that have installed the latest version of the Bitmoji app on their smartphone.
