Galaxy AI is built to understand what you need before you even ask, whether that’s suggesting a change in your routine or pulling up just the right information at the right time.

This level of personalization can be incredibly helpful, but the more your phone knows, the more there is to protect. So, what’s keeping all that personal data secure?

Samsung Electronics believes there is no privacy without strong security. That’s why every Galaxy device is protected from the chip up by a multi-layered approach, which includes on-device personalization, user-controlled cloud processing and ecosystem-wide protection through Samsung Knox Matrix.

At the core of this system is Samsung Knox Vault, the company’s hardware-based solution for safeguarding your most sensitive information.

Secured at the Hardware Level

Most mobile devices rely solely on software to protect sensitive data. Galaxy devices go further.

Knox Vault is a hardware-level security solution that creates a physical barrier between your most private information and everything else. It works like a locked room inside your phone, with its own processor and memory to encrypt sensitive data, with Knox Vault securing the keys. It pairs a secure processor with dedicated memory, isolating your passwords, PINs and biometrics, as well as financial information and cryptographic keys. These are the kinds of details you don’t want anyone else to access, and Knox Vault is built to make sure they stay private. You don’t need to activate or manage it, as it’s always on, working silently in the background, keeping your data safe while you get on with your day.

This is particularly crucial in the age of AI as user concerns are expanding from traditional cybersecurity threats, like viruses and malware, to worries over leaking personal data, such as conversations with your AI assistant. And as AI becomes part of more everyday tasks, the types of data that need protection are also expanding.

For example, metadata from your most personal photos not only details the resolution and file format, but also shows the exact location where the image was taken. This personal metadata is more than just files — it’s information that is deeply connected to your daily life. And in the era of AI, the type of data used to provide personalized suggestions needs to be kept private.

Knox Vault helps mitigate these growing concerns by safely storing personal information in a secure, hardware-isolated environment designed to block both physical tampering and remote attacks, ensuring your data can’t be accessed without approval.

Personalized AI, Protected at the Core

Knox Vault not only provides protection for today’s threats, it also ensures your privacy as mobile experiences continue to evolve.

As Galaxy AI becomes more useful, it also becomes more personal, learning how you use your device and adapting to your needs. And because these highly tailored AI experiences rely on deeply personal data, Knox Vault plays a crucial role in keeping that information private and secured.

Galaxy AI ensures privacy by processing tasks directly on-device where possible, keeping data in your hands and off online servers. For example, Audio Eraser1 removes background noise from videos or voice recordings without the need for any cloud-based processing — so your personal information stays private. Call Transcript2 operates in the same way, keeping your calls organized while ensuring personal conversations stay private by remaining on-device.

Knox Vault ensures your data is protected, confidential and secure. Building on its role in Galaxy AI as the trusted foundation for security and privacy, Knox Vault will expand across Samsung’s growing AI ecosystem as AI becomes more deeply integrated into the user experience.

Knox Vault is more than a security feature, it’s Galaxy’s promise that no matter how advanced your devices become, or how much AI evolves, your privacy is secured.

1 Results may vary per video depending on sounds present in the video. Samsung Account login required. Certain types of sound can be detected such as voices, music, wind, nature, crowd and noise. The actual sound detection may vary depending on audio source and the condition of the video. Accuracy of results is not guaranteed.
2 Call Transcript feature requires Samsung Account login. Call recording may not be supported in some countries. Currently available on pre-installed Samsung phones and Voice Record app. Service availability may vary by language or region. Certain languages may require language pack download. Accuracy of results is not guaranteed.

Samsung Electronics today announced updates to Knox Suite, an all-in-one business solution package designed to manage and secure enterprise devices. Previously only available as one comprehensive package, Knox Suite now offers flexible plans — Base, Essentials and Enterprise — that cater to the diverse security and device management needs of businesses of all sizes, from small startups to large enterprises managing thousands of devices.1

As a comprehensive security and management framework leveraged and trusted by over 35,000 businesses across 134 countries, Samsung Knox is essential for organizations using Samsung Galaxy devices as it unlocks their full operational potential. Built on Samsung’s industry-leading Samsung Knox security platform, Knox Suite delivers robust protection, simplifies IT workflows and provides actionable insights that drive efficiency and productivity.

“Enterprises of varying sizes and industries have diverse device management needs, but ultimately are looking toward the same end goal – enabling secure, productive mobile workspaces,” said Jerry Park, EVP and Head of B2B Team, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “That’s why we’re introducing flexible options within Knox Suite, designed to provide businesses with the tailored tools they need. Through these new scalable solutions, Knox Suite is now optimized for all types of operational use cases, empowering businesses to comprehensively and intelligently manage enterprise ecosystems.”

Scalable Solutions Enhance Device Management

With Knox Suite Plans, businesses can optimize and securely manage their Samsung Galaxy device ecosystems, enhancing IT efficiency and empowering employees to maximize productivity throughout the device lifecycle. With its presence in UEM market, Samsung was named a Major Player in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Unified Endpoint Management Software 2024 Vendor Assessment (doc #US51234224, April 2024). Knox Suite is trusted by customers worldwide. Now more customizable than ever, Knox Suite is available in three plans:

Knox Suite — Base Plan: Included with Samsung Galaxy device purchases at no additional cost, the Knox Suite — Base Plan is ideal for businesses seeking simple and secure set-up of managed business devices. IT administrators can add Samsung devices into their Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solutions without the hassle of manual enrollment, and ensure devices and data are protected with government-grade security.2 The Base Plan includes access to Knox Mobile Enrollment (KME) and Knox Platform for Enterprise (KPE), with no additional license key requirement for use.

Knox Suite — Essentials Plan: For those looking for more than just device setup, the Knox Suite – Essentials Plan transforms mobile devices into powerful and efficient assets. In addition to solutions found in the Base Plan, the Essentials Plan also features Knox Manage and Knox Remote Support — services designed to enable unified, cross-platform device management plus real-time troubleshooting support.

Knox Suite — Enterprise Plan: As the most comprehensive Knox Suite package, the Enterprise Plan helps organizations get the most out of extensive device fleets through granular OS version control, intelligent insights and tailored features designed for the frontline. From large-scale enterprises to mid-market companies with dedicated IT support teams, this plan is best fit for those looking to fully optimize digital workspace experiences and improve productivity for frontline workers. In addition to solutions found in the Essentials Plan, the Enterprise Plan includes Knox E-FOTA, Knox Asset Intelligence, Knox Capture and Knox Authentication Manager.

For businesses investing in Galaxy Enterprise Edition, a comprehensive package of business-ready mobile devices and services, it now includes a one-year Knox Suite — Enterprise Plan license at no additional cost, providing even greater value.

Ongoing Innovation for Intelligent Device Management

These updates continue the evolution of Knox Suite for more intelligent device management. For businesses already using other EMM solutions, Knox Suite can be integrated seamlessly into existing operations to provide deeper insights and enhanced control over Samsung Galaxy devices, allowing IT teams to optimize device performance without disrupting existing workflows. Samsung’s ongoing collaboration with leading EMM providers also guarantees increased accessibility of Knox Suite through these partner platforms, ensuring that businesses can harness the full potential of Knox Suite’s powerful features, regardless of their current IT setup.

Looking ahead, Knox Suite will continue to evolve to be even more intelligent and intuitive, empowering IT administrators with advanced tools and actionable insights while enabling businesses to unlock the full potential of their Samsung Galaxy devices to create secure, efficient mobile workspaces of the future.

1 Offers, features, services and availability may vary by market, third-party solution and/or device.

In a world increasingly supported by artificial intelligence, Samsung is taking steps to enable easy and seamless AI usability in Galaxy users’ day-to-day lives with its voice assistant Bixby.

Earlier this year we launched the Galaxy S24 and, with it, Galaxy AI, kicking off a new era of mobile experiences. Now, thanks to Galaxy AI’s integration with Bixby’s voice activation capabilities, users can empower their everyday through the quick and easy activation of these features – just by speaking. With Bixby, users can quickly bring up and activate Galaxy AI features1 hands-free, taking away the need to physically search through your device to find the feature of your choice.

Hands-Free AI Empowerment with Bixby

Bixby makes it easier to use Galaxy’s intuitive voice-oriented features, like Live Translate. Users can even more seamlessly explore features such as real-time translation, spelling correction, and creation of webpage summaries and automated note covers.

Let’s take Interpreter as an example. Next time you find yourself in conversation with someone who speaks another language, no longer do you need to take a moment to find and click into the Interpreter feature – simply say, “Hi Bixby, turn on Interpreter,” and you’re off.

No more being slowed down as you navigate to the feature you need. Galaxy AI is closer even than at your fingertips. One simple voice command, and these new possibilities – from enabling barrier-free communication to boosting productivity – are yours to enjoy.

Accessible AI Around the World

Samsung is dedicated to making everyday experiences epic for all its users, no matter where they are. Bixby activation of Galaxy AI will be applied to all supporting languages: Chinese, English (US, UK, and India), French, German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Spain) and Spanish (Latin America).

Samsung Electronics today announced new updates to Bixby that improve user experience, performance and capabilities of the intelligent assistant and platform. The new updates deliver significant improvements in Bixby’s ability with enhanced language recognition, giving people greater control over their mobile experience.

“When Samsung first launched Bixby as a voice assistant, it was part of a vision to create a human-to-machine interface that makes life easier and can advance over time with Samsung Galaxy innovation,” said YoungJip Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Artificial Intelligence Team in Mobile eXperience Business, Samsung Electronics. “Today, we introduce updates to build a more intelligent interface that is proactive and adaptive, giving people greater control over their mobile experience.”

Giving People Greater Control Over Their Mobile Experience

The new Bixby updates bring several new features and improvements that allow people to customize their user experience further, including the recent availability of Bixby Text Call1 in English. Now, English speakers can answer calls from anywhere by typing a message, which Bixby converts to audio and communicates to the caller directly on their behalf.

Users can also personalize their Bixby Text Call voice. Using the new Bixby Custom Voice Creator,2 users can record different sentences for Bixby to analyze and create an AI generated copy of their voice and tone. Currently available in Korean, this generated voice is planned to be compatible with other Samsung apps beyond phone calls. And for those who want to customize their wake word, Bixby now supports changes to the Custom wake-up3 phrase within Bixby settings as well, adding a new option to create a personalized wake-up phrase.

From Intelligent Assistant to Intelligent Platform

Today, Bixby can provide more seamless continuity and better attune to user needs with the introduction of new scenarios,4 including playing music depending on the type of exercise in Samsung Health or saving schedules in Calendar. Now, Bixby can better understand intent and process follow-up requests by understanding context and associating words previously used in interactions. For example, Bixby users can first launch a workout on Samsung Health and then ask Bixby to play music5 that best suits that exercise by saying “Play music for this workout.”

Enhanced Language Recognition, Processing and Response

In addition to these great new features, Samsung also expanded Bixby’s on-device AI support.6 Users can run key commands entirely offline, such as setting a timer, taking a screenshot or turning on the flashlight. By integrating on-device AI with its native applications,7 Samsung was able to further expand its language offering8 and capabilities with advanced AI-based voice dictation. These updates to Bixby will be made possible by the powerful innovation found in Samsung Galaxy devices, including the industry-leading performance that enables on-device AI applications.

Availability

Bixby updates will be available for Samsung Galaxy users in February9 through a software update. For more information, please visit www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/apps/bixby.

“When Samsung launched Bixby nearly five years ago, we committed to continue improving this intelligent platform with new technologies and key partners that enable more experiences,” said Young Jip Kim, EVP and Head of the Artificial Intelligence Team at the Mobile eXperience Business, Samsung Electronics. “We are proud to bring Bixby to the millions of people who speak Latin American Spanish, joining the more than 200 million1 people already using Bixby from nearly 400 million2 devices worldwide.”

Benefits of Bixby, Now Available in Latin American Spanish

Bixby is a powerful, intelligent voice assistant that helps Samsung Galaxy users navigate their devices and organize their lives, just like a real-world personal assistant. It can help launch apps and settings, remember appointments and tasks and generally reduce everyday hassles. Bixby can even communicate with others by answering calls, composing messages and more.

Intelligence depends on the ability to understand and engage with commands, regardless of phrasing. Until now, South and Latin American users had to use European Spanish with Bixby. The new support for Latin American Spanish will let them use local dialects, accents and nuances for more natural interactions with their device.

Latin American Spanish support means even more Samsung Galaxy users can now rely on Bixby’s intelligence and convenience, particularly in the United States, the second largest Spanish-speaking country and the region with the most Bixby users.

What Is Next for Bixby

Bixby has grown immensely in the past few years, as registered users more than doubled, surpassing 200 million in 2022.

At the recent Samsung Developer Conference 2022 in San Francisco, Samsung outlined other recent developments, including new Smart Home features. As users expand their connected ecosystems, Bixby’s voice control and seamless integration with devices will play an important role in monitoring and managing every room of the home.

Latin American Spanish for Bixby is available today for select Samsung Galaxy models including the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4 after going through a software update. Support for additional devices will roll out soon, including Galaxy S20 and Z Flip3 in December, with further expansion planned for early 2023.

Samsung is committed to fostering a sustainable future and providing convenient, accessible and affordable ways that help Galaxy users use their devices in the best possible condition as long as they could. This was where Samsung Members came in to provide user support, feedback and diagnostics1 to troubleshoot device issues in 2016.

Since then, Samsung keeps improving and advancing it as one of the actions that support users’ right to repair which is a movement that attempts to put systems in place that help consumers maintain the quality of their devices and extend their device life.

A User-Friendly Self-Diagnosis Experience With Samsung Members

Through the Diagnostics check via Samsung Members, users can simultaneously test 27 features of their device, including battery status, camera functionality, wireless charging, face recognition and S Pen connectivity.2 Users can access the Diagnostic check by launching Samsung Members, finding the Support tab, clicking View Tests and selecting Test all. They also can find the Diagnostic button in the Battery and device care selected from the list inside the Device Settings. Diagnostic results will lead the user to specific FAQs for troubleshooting tips. In order to receive in-depth responses, users may also send error reports for a select issue area.

Samsung continually improves Samsung Members with regular software updates, and it is implementing customer feedback to ensure a simple in-app experience. Samsung Members’ latest update, which was released at the end of August of this year, provides easy-to-digest guides and visual information that empower users to smoothly complete the Diagnostics check.

A new sensor test evaluates whether a Galaxy foldable device’s Flex mode functions properly, as well as new SIM Card error diagnosis capabilities.

For facial recognition tests, Samsung has also created a ‘Start’ button, which gives users more time to get ready for facial screening by properly holding their device. And now users can re-register biometrics more easily when recognition fails, by redirecting users to Settings where they can re-register face and fingerprint information or troubleshoot recognition failures.

Thanks to these improvements, users can more easily test functionality while keeping their smartphone or tablet in the most optimal condition. These improvements also provide users more accessible, convenient and affordable methods to fix any problems their device may have.

Expanding Self-Diagnosis Technology to More Galaxy Devices

Samsung will continue to improve self-diagnosis to empower users to find solutions and eliminate inconveniences caused by simple system issues. By listening to Galaxy customers and improving diagnostic capabilities, Samsung is expanding access to information that not only helps users accurately troubleshoot issues but also maintains the optimal performance of their device.

Commenting on the news, Eamonn Grant, Head of Online for Samsung Ireland said, “At Samsung we are always looking for ways to bring meaningful innovation to our customers so we’re really excited to be the first technology company in Ireland to make our products available to our customers via drone delivery. To be able to deliver our products to our customers within three minutes of leaving the dispatch center is a brilliant example of innovation in motion. Superior customer experience is at the heart of what we do and with this new service we are embracing what we believe will be the future of retail. In the current environment, there is no better time to provide a contactless alternative to ‘click and collect’ and we are really thrilled to be partnering Manna to achieve this.”

“This partnership with Samsung marks the first of its kind in the world. To date, we have been working with Tesco and local businesses to deliver grocery, hot food, books and pharmacy items, to people in the area. We recognize that the potential for the application of drone delivery is enormous. Samsung is one of the most innovative and widely recognized brands globally that always puts its customers front and center. It’s for this reason we are genuinely excited to be embarking on this next chapter with them,” said Alan Hicks, CTO of Manna.

The drone delivery option will be available to Oranmore-based customers who purchase a Galaxy device via Samsung.com/ie from today.

With more than a trillion photos taken each year on mobile devices, according to a report by Mylio, Samsung cameras help people to not just document a moment in time but rather to truly capture it in near lifelike form.

As smartphone cameras became the primary go-to camera for many, the technology powering them has become an integral part of the way we share our lives with each other. Samsung has been at the forefront of this change, building a strong heritage of camera technology that has evolved the way people use the camera — from clear night photography, to professional-grade portraits, smooth video stabilization, and selfies.

Samsung Newsroom talked with Joshua Sungdae Cho, VP and Head of Visual SW R&D at Samsung Mobile, to discuss Samsung’s camera philosophy and legacy of imaging technology.

Joshua Sungdae Cho, VP and Head of Visual SW R&D at Samsung Electronics

What is the driving philosophy behind the features and specs for cameras on Galaxy devices?

Our goal is to satisfy two very different needs. First, we help general users by democratizing the experience of professional photography, making it easy for them to create high-quality photos and videos with nothing but their smartphone. Secondly, we aim to bring a more customized shooting experience for pros who want to use their Galaxy smartphone as a professional tool. To do that, we focus on three key areas: the best shooting and viewing experience, ease of use, and controllability.

Our aim with the shooting and viewing experience is to ensure that users get crisp, vivid results every time they capture images and videos. This is why we have focused on high-resolution images, best-in-class image sensors, and other features like High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). For ease of use, we focus on creating features that make getting the best results as simple as possible. Single Take, for example, makes it easy to take multiple pictures and videos all at the same time, then recommends the best shots of the series. Finally, controllability is emphasized in our Pro Photo and Pro Video modes, giving users more control over their final results. Underpinning all of these features is AI, which ensures users get the most optimal results.

(Left) Super steady OFF l (Right) Super steady ON

Can you expand on these three pillars? How do you ensure users get the best shooting and viewing experience?

We take a lot of things into consideration for delivering the best shooting and viewing experience for both photos and video. First, we consider portraits our top priority. With warm tones, but a natural brightness and color, our cameras capture your emotions and expressions in vivid detail. We are continuing to make this a key focus area with upgrades that improve details such as skin texture and hair. Improving the resolution of the images from our cameras is one way we accomplish this.

Higher resolution images contain more pixels, and therefore, more information. We try to find ways to get more pixels into our sensors, as well as improved optics, so that users produce sharp images and videos even when they crop or zoom. Ensuring users get great results no matter the lighting condition is also a key focus for the shooting experience on Galaxy devices.

Our advanced High Dynamic Range (HDR), for example, makes it possible to shoot in mixed lighting and still get great results. This is possible thanks to the AI in our camera, which takes three images at different exposure levels simultaneously and then combines them into one final image. This same approach is used for low-light photography. To deliver more bright, crisp images in low-light conditions, we use nona-binning technology, which uses AI to merge nine pixels into one larger pixel so it absorbs more light and creates clear, vivid images.

Last but not least, we also adopt best-in-class hardware to deliver superior viewing and sharing experiences and improve image quality. Samsung’s cutting-edge sensor technology, such as our 108MP sensors and 50x Space Zoom on the Note20 Ultra, make it possible to capture ultra-high-resolution images and even 8K video. We combine this sensor technology with other strengths of Galaxy devices, such as world-class displays to view the results and fast Wi-Fi connectivity and 5G that make sharing large files easy, to create the best all-around smartphone camera experience.

That sounds like a lot of features to pack into a smartphone camera. How do you make sure they are intuitive and easy to use?

Ease of use is particularly important for our camera philosophy. We aim to create an optimal auto-shooting mode that delivers professional looking images and video. The only thing our users need when shooting with a Galaxy device is a good subject and a memorable moment. We also pack our cameras with features that enable greater creativity while still making it easy to get great results.

Scene optimizer is a great example of how we make it easy to get professional level results. Users just have to point and shoot, and the camera delivers an image optimized for color and brightness based on the scene. We use AI to help deliver these optimizations, ensuring that every cloud, sunset, and smile is captured just as you remember.

Ease of use is also at the heart of features like Single Take. With just a single click, the camera takes multiple pictures and videos with dynamic effects simultaneously, allowing users to capture the moment in a variety of ways and choose their favorite. Features like My Filter also make it easy for users to customize their images. With My Filter, users can create a custom filter, save it, then apply it to all of the photos they shoot.

On the opposite end of this ease of use and auto-shooting, you mentioned that customization and control are an important part of the Galaxy camera experience. How do you implement those control features?

Both Pro Photo and Pro Video mode offer users more control over their final results. In Pro Photo mode, users can tweak all aspects of the photo including the ISO, shutter speed, white balance, and exposure levels. It also gives them the power to save RAW images, which they can later edit on their own. With the enhanced Pro Video mode on the Galaxy Note20 series, we’ve given users more creative control over the fine details in their videos.

In addition to manual adjustment of exposure settings, Pro Video mode introduces features such as Zoom control, allowing users to adjust the speed of their zoom for more dramatic footage. In Pro Video mode, users can also adjust the direction of the microphone to get the best sound. To top it off, we’ve also given users the power to record 8K video at 24fps on the Galaxy Note20 for high-quality results with a cinematic feel.

Many of these features seem to be powered or enhanced by AI. Why is AI such an important component of Galaxy cameras?

AI is one of the core technologies in Samsung’s camera technology because it allows us to do a lot of the heavy lifting for the user. We use AI to improve image resolution, optimize new technology for mobile, and provide better experiences for our customers.

Auto Framing on the Galaxy Z Fold2, for example, automatically shifts the view to stay centered and in focus depending on how many people are in view. When there is only one person, it can follow their motion and keep them centered – ideal for vloggers and creatives that are using their smartphone to create content.

In the future we will continue to implement these advancements to learn, adapt, and develop new technology that improves the overall camera experience.

In addition to improvements in AI, the trend in smartphone photography has been to add more cameras on flagship devices year over year. Is this a trend you believe will continue?

We keep trying to find a balance between the best AI technology and the optimal number of cameras on our devices. Our AI technology is continuously improving thanks to the image training technology we have developed at Samsung. At the same time, we are also working to deliver the best camera hardware for our devices. If we are able to achieve the same results from multiple cameras with just a single AI-powered camera, then we will merge the technologies. Although we are not at that point yet, we are able to deliver stunning results with features like the Ultra-Wide camera that capture landscapes from a whole different perspective, and 50x zoom on the Galaxy Note20 Ultra.

The Galaxy Note20 series is a prime example of how our philosophy is reflected in our devices. We know that video usage has been steadily increasing, and has led to greater demand for better video features. So, for the Galaxy Note20 series, we improved on Super Steady, delivered 8K recording, and added increased functionality with Pro Video mode to enhance the user experience.

Ultimately, whatever we do is in service of consumer needs, to ensure every feature, experience and design choice offers increased functionality and quality.

Samsung Electronics and IBM announced today at the Samsung Developer Conference, a new joint platform leveraging IBM Cloud and AI capabilities, and Samsung’s mobile offerings. The collaboration between the two companies brings together IBM’s capabilities with the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem for today’s enterprise customers.

“The mobile industry is undergoing a dramatic transformation and opening up new ways of business by bringing innovative technologies like 5G, AI and IoT to enterprises,” said DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics. “We believe open collaboration is central to unlocking these opportunities and look forward to driving digital transformation for our enterprise clients in the 5G era with IBM and Samsung’s mobile devices and connected services.”

Safety Platform Powered by IBM Cloud, AI and 5G

Today’s announcement is designed to bring together IBM’s cloud innovations and Samsung’s Galaxy devices ecosystems, including Galaxy Tabs, Galaxy smartphones, and Galaxy Watches. This is designed to help improve the work environments for police officers, fire fighters and other first responders.

According to the International Labour Organization, nearly 3-million deaths occur each year due to occupational accidents. Governments and enterprises have an increasing need to build systems which track the health vitals of workers in remote or high-stress environments.

Built on the IBM Cloud, the new platform will now allow clients to track a worker’s vitals, including heart rate and physical activity, to determine if that person is in distress and automatically dispatch help.

For example, equipped with Samsung’s Galaxy Watches with biometric sensors and Galaxy smartphones enabled with 5G capability, first responders will have their safety and wellness indicators shared on this platform in real time. The solution constantly tracks their vital signs and other key indicators to instantly alert emergency managers if there is a change in any of these data points, which may indicate the responder may be in danger of a heart attack, heat exhaustion, or any other life-threatening event requiring immediate attention. The platform transmits the data to emergency managers to provide insights for their decision-making.

On this new platform, Samsung’s high-speed Galaxy devices can now be used at scale almost anywhere. These devices can be customized to withstand intense environments, such as those encountered by a soldier in the field, power plant employees working in harsh weather conditions, an emergency worker responding to a disaster or a worker in a mining plant.

Currently being piloted by multiple police forces, this new solution provides real time health and situational awareness insights on first responders to reduce operational risks in the field.

“IBM continues to bring leading cloud and AI capabilities with deep industry expertise to our enterprise clients,” said Martin Schroeter, senior vice president of global markets from IBM. “Together, IBM and Samsung will use the power of IBM Cloud, 5G, AI and edge computing to enable our clients to leverage these advanced technologies to have greater impact on the way people work, shop and protect their health and families.”

In today’s modern lifestyle, people are busier than ever and they demand more from their smartphones so they can keep up with the frenetic pace of life. Naturally, people want to multi-task to be more productive and use their time more efficiently.

On the long list of intuitive and practical features offered by Galaxy devices, the Multi Window capability is perhaps one of the most under-appreciated. The Multi Window feature has been available on Galaxy devices since the Galaxy Note 2, released in late 2012, however users of the Galaxy S3, also released in 2012, were able to watch videos without interruption through Pop-up Play. And since then, the multi-tasking capabilities have only improved with each edition, and they have become a mainstay on Galaxy S, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab devices that followed.

It certainly comes in handy in lots of different situations, like using a map app while exchanging texts when making arrangements to meet a friend. Or, to keep an eye on sports scores while watching a video, or to browse the Internet to find information while also writing an email. With the Galaxy Note 4, you can easily take notes using the S Pen during a video chat by splitting the screen.

With the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, you can quickly and easily open two apps at the same time. From any screen, simply touch and hold the Recent Apps button (just to the left of the home button). Apps that support Multi Window will be displayed.

Simply select the two you want to use and they will appear in split view, one on top, one on the bottom. You can also launch recently used apps directly into the multi window view. Apps that can be used with multi window will have the multi window icon on the title bar.

The window controls, which appear between the two windows, allow you to adjust the size of each window, minimize or maximize a window, drag and drop content from one window to another, or switch the location of the windows. When you minimize an app, it turns into a circular, movable icon that can be opened by tapping on it. It’s extremely easy and intuitive.

There’s also pop-up view. Simply open an app and then swipe diagonally from either top corner of the screen and the app will appear as a pop-up, which you can move around the home screen. So when you are multitasking but you need to focus on one app, you can keep another app just one touch away.

Tap the button to see the control options or hold and drag to create a pop-up window.

On the Galaxy Tab S, touch the recent apps button and swipe upwards or downwards and tap the Multi Window icon on the recent app window. The selected app will launch in the upper window. You can also launch the split screen by tapping and holding the recent apps button. Much like with the Galaxy S6, you can find additional options by tapping the circle between the app windows. If you are the proud owner of a Galaxy Note Pro or Galaxy Tab Pro device, it is possible to have four windows open simultaneously.

Also, Samsung’s SideSync 3.0 app is a PC-Mobile solution that enables screens, windows and data to be shared between PCs and Galaxy smartphones, or between Galaxy Tabs and Galaxy smartphones. The app allows you to connect to your smartphone and launch the phone as a window on the screen of your Galaxy Tab or PC, which can be adjusted for size. There are a whole host of sharing functions, including keyboard and mouse sharing mode, file and clipboard sharing and lots more.

Finally, with the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge and Galaxy Note 4, if you happen to be using an app, watching a video or playing a game when a call is received, a pop up window appears on the screen. With the pop up window, you can choose to answer, reject or tap expand to view the main call screen. After answering the call, you can exit the call screen during an active call to do something else, like access your contacts list, view an email or locate a picture. To return to the call screen, simply got to the notification panel and tap the call notification. You can also click end call from the notification panel.
