Ever since I was young, I’ve been captivated by engineering and technology — enthralled by new gadgets and curious about what made them work. I didn’t think I could be more obsessed with technology, but 2020 proved me wrong. This year gave me an even greater appreciation for all that it does and can potentially do. We had to reshape our lives, rethink the way we operate and become more flexible — and technology made it possible for us to do so. 2020 bolstered my determination to fully tap the infinite power and potential of tech to give people personalized experiences that enrich their lives and allow them to express themselves.

As we close out this year and I think of what’s to come in 2021, I feel encouraged by all the ways Samsung is cultivating open collaboration and driving innovation forward to empower people on their personal journeys. We have never believed in a one-size-fits-all mobile experience and we never will. We led the charge with 5G and changed the shape of the future with a series of foldable smartphones. Now, we’re working on revolutionary advancements in 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) that will redefine the parameters of what mobile can do and give consumers the freedom to tailor their mobile experiences to fit their lives — not the other way around.

2020 Highlights

This year, Samsung stayed true to its mission and forged new paths for landmark technology that will shape the next era of mobile innovation. Our vision of intelligent, connected devices with mobile phones at the center has become a reality. 2020 saw 5G — a technology Samsung has been pioneering for more than a decade — move into the limelight. Over the course of the last 10 years, Samsung laid the groundwork for the fifth generation of cellular technology by helping to build the global 5G infrastructure. And in 2019, we released the world’s first commercial 5G smartphone and tablet: The Galaxy S10 5G and Galaxy Tab S6 5G. Samsung has been pushing to democratize 5G ever since. We are closing out the year with twenty 5G devices in the Galaxy ecosystem.

There was also growing momentum behind foldable smartphones, a category we launched commercially with the Galaxy Fold in 2019 and advanced with the release of Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold2 in 2020. Through our longstanding industry-leading partnerships, we established an open ecosystem for foldable devices and fostered UX innovation that enabled us to create an enhanced user experience with optimized app interactions and displays. The Z Fold2 was praised as a smartphone that reimagines what’s possible with mobile technology and I’m excited to say, it’s just a hint of what’s to come as we continue to explore, evolve and expand this category-changing space.

We also made headway in our efforts to make the world a better, more sustainable place. In partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), we promoted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals on more than 80 million smartphones, mobilizing and empowering the Galaxy community via our Samsung Global Goals app. And we continue to take dedicated action throughout our product lifecycle to help the world transition to a circular economy — by extending product longevity, making greater use of sustainable materials in our packaging, and creating environmentally conscious products and accessories.

Mobile Innovations to Watch in 2021

I’m thrilled with what Samsung accomplished this year, but as passionate pioneers committed to defying barriers to progress, we’re always thinking about what’s next. Our smartphones are truly becoming extensions of ourselves, and with so many people working remotely and spending more time entertaining themselves at home, video quality and capabilities on mobile devices have moved front and center.

From teleworking and virtual celebrations to gaming and online dance challenges, the world is creating, sharing and streaming more video than ever. Whether you prefer to edit footage like a pro or just want intelligent, multitasking lenses to do the heavy lifting for you, the Samsung Galaxy will be more than ready to meet the demands of the video-obsessed in 2021. When it comes to advancement in this space, it’s going to be an epic new year.

Our engineers and developers have also been working hard to expand highly advanced on-device AI capabilities within the Galaxy family, enabling our devices to continually learn from daily activities and routines to take better pictures and videos, maximize battery life and storage space, optimize displays and much more. We’re planning to expand these personalized capabilities to every facet of Galaxy’s product portfolio to empower people to be productive and do all the things they enjoy.

And because we live in an interconnected world that requires interconnected devices, Samsung continues to vigorously support open source research and collaboration. It’s how we evolve new capabilities that can be deployed across devices, applications and services to enable more people to benefit from all that technology has to offer. Thanks to the open ecosystems we’ve created working in tandem with other like-minded industry leaders, we’re developing connected, compatible innovation that will take us into an exciting new era of integrated mobile experiences.

We’ve already advanced breakthrough technologies like ultra-wideband (UWB) through ongoing open collaboration with key partners. And soon, we’ll be rolling out incredible connectivity capabilities that will transform the way you open doors and enable seamlessly integrated car experiences that make personalized car connectivity a part of your digital life. We’re also making it easier to quickly locate the things that matter most, from your keys to your wallet — even your family pet.

As we introduce new and exciting innovations, our number-one goal is and will always be to create experiences that people can trust, knowing we’ll treat their data with the utmost care and keep their personal information safe every step of the way. These new devices will offer incredible personalized mobile experiences and will be built with security and privacy top of mind.

The Samsung Promise

We believe everyone should have access to the latest mobile technologies and a spectrum of product options that offer unfettered, personalized experiences. In 2021, our diverse product portfolio will deliver breakthrough capabilities that empower you and never hold you back.

True to our heritage of staying ahead of the curve with trailblazing mobile tech, we’ll be expanding our portfolio of foldables, so this groundbreaking category is more accessible to everyone. And while we’re already known for our revolutionary cameras, we’ll never stop trying to outdo ourselves — so be on the lookout for super-intelligent, pro-grade camera and video capabilities in 2021. We’ve also been paying attention to people’s favorite aspects of the Galaxy Note experience and are excited to add some of its most well-loved features to other devices in our lineup.

Limitations and boundaries are for other brands. At Samsung, we relentlessly test the existing rules because we know the margins for what technology can do are confined only by the scope of our imagination — and ours knows no bounds.

Thank you to everyone who supported us in 2020. I look forward to sharing more in January!

The S Pen has come a long way since it was first introduced in 2011, tucked into the bottom edge of the very first Galaxy Note.

Just as Samsung’s flagship series has redefined the mobile experience as we know it, the S Pen has rewritten the rules for what a smartphone stylus can do. From jotting notes on the go to snapping group photos from afar, and from editing and sharing documents to controlling media, the S Pen allows users to do so much more with their mobile device, more comfortably and conveniently than ever before.

The Galaxy Note20’s S Pen – the series’ tenth – enriches the user experience even further by offering smoother, more intuitive note-taking and lifelike precision. Follow along as we commemorate this monumental release by taking a closer look at the S Pen’s evolution over the years.

The 2011 introduction of the Galaxy Note and the S Pen launched a new category of mobile device: the phablet. Combining the characteristics of a smartphone and a tablet, the Galaxy Note made waves around the world with its groundbreaking design and notepad-like functionality.

The S Pen equipping that initial release was capable of serving as a pen, pencil, brush and highlighter. It also introduced what would be the first of many shortcuts designed to help users get things done faster; double tapping the screen while pressing the S Pen’s button would automatically open the S Memo app.

Introduced the following year, the Galaxy Note2 featured a redesigned S Pen that was flattened on one side to offer a more ergonomic grip.

The most notable enhancement from the first to second model was in pressure sensitivity. While the previous version supported up to 256 levels of pressure sensitivity, the new model supported up to 1,024, or four times as much. The improvement enabled users to enjoy a more nuanced and natural writing experience. A brush menu and eye dropper tool, which made it easy to lift colors from within the Note (from an image, for instance), were also added.

The improvements in the Galaxy Note3’s S Pen went beyond refining the handwriting experience and drastically enhanced the stylus’s productivity features. The new Air Command menu allowed users to instantly access important features simply by ejecting the S Pen or by clicking its button. The addition of this handy feature simplified making calls, sending emails and messages, adding doodles and notes to captured images, and much more.

The Galaxy Note4’s S Pen enhancements were about fostering a more realistic writing experience and adding more productivity tools.

Samsung started by greatly improving the S Pen’s accuracy, doubling its pressure sensitivity from 1,024 levels to 2,048. A new feature, Smart select, was also added to make it easier for users to share a variety of content. With Smart select, users could use their S Pen to instantly select, share and save content on their screen – no matter the app – and then share it with others via email or message.

The Galaxy Note5’s Screen off memo function was added because you never quite know when inspiration will strike, and when it does, you want to be able to capture it as quickly as possible.

The ability to jot memos directly onto the smartphone’s screen – memos that would be instantly saved once the user put the S Pen back into the device – added a new level of convenience to the note-taking experience. To enhance that convenience even further, Samsung simplified how the S Pen was removed. Whereas previous S Pens needed to be pulled out manually via the notch at the end, the Note5’s S Pen ejected with a light press.

Since 2017, many of Samsung’s S Pen enhancements have focused on enabling users to express themselves in fun and meaningful ways.

Introduced with the Galaxy Note8, Live messages are a perfect example of meaningful communication. This feature allows users to use the S Pen to draw their own fun, animated GIFS which can be instantly shared with friends or on social media. Text, drawings and GIFs created with Live message, which offers a diverse range of brushes and pens for users to choose from, can be saved in the Gallery and reused whenever the user likes.

By the time the Galaxy Note9 was introduced, the S Pen had evolved into so much more than a stylus. Now, on top of offering a diverse array of note-taking and productivity tools, the S Pen would serve as a convenient remote control for a wide variety of functions.

The addition of Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) technology meant that the Note9’s S Pen could be utilized to, for example, snap a group photo from afar by using the S Pen’s button as a shutter, and to remotely control slides in presentations. The S Pen would automatically start charging once it was placed back in the device, and offered up to 30 minutes of use (or around 200 clicks) once fully charged.

With the Galaxy Note10, the S Pen became more than a remote control; it became a magic wand of sorts.

The introduction of S Pen Air actions opened the door for users to remotely control their device using simple gestures. With a press of the S Pen’s button, the user could use these intuitive actions to switch between cameras and shooting modes, zoom in or out of a shot, and execute a variety of other convenient functions, all with customizable gestures. The smartphone also introduced enhancements designed to help users maximize productivity, including a feature that enables handwriting to be instantly converted to text and exported via a variety of formats.

In a rapidly digitizing world, we can find ourselves missing the analog days every now and then. For those who find themselves longing for that pen-and-paper feel, the Galaxy Note20’s S Pen offers the most true-to-life note-taking experience yet.

A bevy of enhancements, including AI technology that allows for more accurate coordinate prediction, as well as an improved gyro sensor and accelerometer, have combined to support the most realistic handwriting and drawing experiences possible. Those experiences are amplified by the new S Pen’s greatly reduced latency. The Galaxy Note20 Ultra’s latency has been reduced by nearly 80 percent compared to the Note10. Such responsiveness enable users to enjoy a more lifelike writing experience – one that feels like the real thing.

In addition, for the Galaxy Note20, Samsung has expanded Air actions’ gesture controls to offer users more convenience. New ‘Anywhere actions’ make navigating your phone fast and easy, no matter which app you’re using. Using them is simple. A gesture resembling a clamp pointing to the right (>) pulls up recently used apps; an upward clamp (^) brings you back to the home screen; a clamp pointing to the left (<) signifies a backward action; and a downward clamp (∨) runs Smart select. Lightly shaking the S Pen automatically activates Screen Write, which instantly captures a screenshot of your screen and displays the S Pen’s annotation tools.

The S Pen’s evolution over the last nine years has been guided by a desire to maximize the usefulness of having a stylus-equipped smartphone. The Galaxy Note20 and its advanced S Pen are the latest products of this unwavering commitment to convenience. Going forward, as we transition to the next normal, Samsung will continue to enrich Note users’ lives by making the S Pen more versatile, powerful and fun to use.

Unpacked is my favorite time of year. It’s here that we set the tone for the mobile industry and we open people’s eyes to new possibilities for the future. This year is especially meaningful to me because it’s my first year at Unpacked as Head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business.

Over my career at Samsung, I’ve had the pleasure of leading the development of mobile devices with breakthroughs that have come to define the last decade of smartphone innovation, starting with the very first Galaxy S and more recently, the Galaxy Fold. Today, I’m excited to say that we believe we are at the dawn of an inspiring new decade filled with the promise of growth and change. The growth and change for the smartphone industry, and ecosystem as a whole. As a leading player within the mobile industry, we relish our responsibility to lead next decade, empowered by experience innovation, cutting-edge technologies, and most of all, compelling products.

Fifty years ago, Samsung Electronics was founded with a clear purpose: to use the power of technology to create a better world. Driven by our commitment to break down barriers and make what some thought impossible, possible.

In 2011, we recognized that consumers were doing even more on their devices. We responded and introduced a more powerful phone with a larger screen and an S Pen to give consumers ultimate productivity on the go—the Galaxy Note. With every new device, we continued to innovate and pioneer new display, camera, and performance technologies. Last year, we created a new category with a foldable device, the Galaxy Fold.

Now, here at the start of 2020, we are excited about the opportunity to define a new era. An era that is defined not simply for innovation’s sake but to truly enable experiences that are more personal, meaningful, private and secure; that will create more intelligent connections across devices, people, businesses, and communities. This will be enabled by key advancements in the three most important technologies of our time: 5G, AI and the Internet of Things (IoT). As the leading innovator of new mobile experiences, Samsung is proud to drive the convergence of these technologies across various smart devices, including Galaxy phones, wearables and PCs.

We’ve already started bringing these new experiences to life. Through open collaboration with industry leaders, such as Google and Microsoft, we are building the robust connected ecosystem in the world. And we are working with major carriers to expand 5G services, so hundreds of millions more consumers around the world can have access to next generation networks.

It’s our responsibility and opportunity to shape the next ten years of mobile innovation, starting right now at Unpacked. No company is better suited to take on this massive challenge than Samsung.

What an exciting time for Samsung, our industry and consumers.

You will see some exciting examples of how we’re driving progress, changing the shape of the future and introducing new mobile experiences at Unpacked. I’m excited to flip the industry on its head. It’s going to be an absolutely incredible event, and I hope you’ll join me—online or in-person—for Galaxy Unpacked 2020 on Tuesday, February 11th.

The latest additions to Samsung’s Galaxy Note family, the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+, are packed with features and technologies to help you do more, experience more, and pursue your passions.

While users are already aware of the device’s popular showcase features—from the pro-grade camera with Live Focus video to the edge-to-edge, fully immersive Cinematic Infinity Display—the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ come with plenty more innovative capabilities than may first meet the eye.

Take a look at this round-up of hidden tips and tricks to help you make the most out of your Galaxy Note10 or Note10+, the Galaxy series’ most powerful smartphones yet.

1. Effortlessly View Photo Collections with Tag

The Galaxy Note10 and Note10+’s pro-grade camera means that you’ll be taking lots of pictures. If you want to show off your photography skills—with, say, a few of your amazing sunset shots—it can be a bit tiresome to scroll through your Gallery to pick them all out. So, try out the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+’s upgraded Tag experience for viewing collections of similar pictures. A new icon, accessible directly from the toolbar when viewing a photo in the Gallery, takes you straight to the Tag feature. Tag also harnesses Samsung-developed optical character recognition technology, which intelligently recommends specific keywords for specific images.

2. Take Screenshots Three Different Ways

The Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ introduced a Screen Recorder to take videos of what’s on your screen—but what about screenshots? With the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+, you have three ways to take a picture of what’s on your screen. First, you can quickly and simultaneously press the power and volume down buttons. Second, you can swipe the side of your hand from left to right on the display. Third, you can use the S Pen. Take out the S Pen and tap on Smart Select. Then, choose from a square, rectangle, circle, free-drawing tool, or even a GIF tool, to select your screenshot. Or, tap the Square/Pin icon to take a screenshot and have that image automatically pinned to your display.

3. Make the Most out of the Always On Display

A great phone doesn’t just help you get things done; it helps you express your personality. We use the camera to tell our stories and we use the phone’s color to match our style choice—shouldn’t our lock screen also help us express ourselves? Galaxy Note10 and Note10+’s Always On Display not only provides you with time, notification and battery information at a glance, but can also be tailored to your preferred clockface style. Visit Settings > Lock screen > Clock style to check out the options, and select FaceWidgets for even more display customization options.

4. Scan Documents with Ease Using Your Phone Camera

Sometimes, we need to scan a document in high-quality, but there’s just no scanner to be found. With your Galaxy Note10 and Note10+, this common problem is a thing of the past. Enable the ‘Document scan’ option in the Camera settings > Scene optimizer menu once the Camera app is open to use your Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ to efficiently send documents.

5. Make the Edge Panel Your Own

Everyone has different contacts they get in touch with the most and different apps they use the most. So that you can easily access your favorites, faster, the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ come with a customizable edge panel. By dragging the tab on the right-hand side of your Galaxy Note10 and Note10+’s screen, you can access this shortcut tray of useful apps and services. By heading to Settings > Display > Edge screen > Edge panels, you can fully customize the contacts and apps that appear, and set app pairs—apps that you commonly use together, like email and calendar—to launch at the same time.

6. Stay Productive On the Go With One-Handed Mode

The Note series pioneered the large-screen smartphone, and now today, the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ are known for their immersive, edge-to-edge displays. In fact, at 6.8”, the Galaxy Note10+ offers the Note’s biggest screen ever. But sometimes, situations arise when you only have one hand available to use your phone, and it can be hard to reach something at the top of the screen. To make things more convenient, the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ offer One-handed mode. Just go to Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures > One-handed mode. This feature moves all of your content and information to one area of the screen that you can easily reach with just your thumb, so you can tap and type easily when holding your phone in one hand.

7. Get Intelligent in Order to Save Power

There is nothing more annoying than needing to use your phone at the end of a busy day and seeing that your battery is running low. Even though the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ come with an all-day, intelligent battery, power users who push their phone to the max might need a little extra help making it back home before they hit 0%. To help keep you powered up, the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ feature Adaptive Power Saving Mode. Found in the Settings > Device care section, Adaptive Power Saving Mode uses machine learning to monitor and learn about how you use your device and automatically puts your device to Medium power-saving mode if it detects that you are using your phone more than usual.

The Galaxy Note10 and Galaxy Note10+ are packed with powerful innovations designed to help users take their mobile experience to the next level.

To help them get the most out of these convenient features, Samsung Newsroom has compiled a list of ten functions and settings users should consider when setting up their new device. Whether you’re new to the Note series or you’re a long-term fan who’s just upgraded to the latest edition, the features outlined below will help you customize your phone in ways that work for you.

1. Customize Air Actions

As you may have read in our recent in-depth article, the Galaxy Note10’s new S Pen Air actions transform the Note series’ signature tool into a magic wand for controlling your device. The gesture-based controls are completely customizable, which means you can specify exactly which functions you’d like them to trigger within specific apps – such as the Camera, Gallery and Samsung Notes.

For example, using the S Pen to trace a clockwise circle in the Camera app will, by default, trigger the camera to zoom into the frame. However, you can also customize this gesture to change camera modes, switch cameras, zoom out and more, if any of those functions would be more comfortable for you.

You can also specify which frequently used app or feature you’d like to launch when you press and hold the S Pen’s button. This saves users time by making it easier for them to access the functions they need.

2. Adjust Your Side Key Settings

The Galaxy Note10’s sleek and slim design includes an all-new multifunctional key located beneath the volume rocker on the devices’ left-hand side. A double press allows you to instantly open the camera, Bixby or a frequently used app of your choosing, while a press and hold will wake Bixby or pull up the power off menu.

Speaking of, the Galaxy Note10 also introduces more ways for users to power down their device. Now, in addition to pulling up the power off menu with a press and hold of the side key, users can easily turn off their phone by (1) tapping on the power icon integrated into the Quick Panel, (2) pressing and holding the side and volume down keys, or (3) asking Bixby to do it directly.

The side key’s settings can be accessed by swiping down on the Quick Panel, tapping the power icon and selecting ‘Side key settings,’ or by pressing and holding the side key itself.

3. Pick Your Favorite Pens

The Galaxy Note10’s enhanced Samsung Notes app makes it easier for users to get down to work by allowing them to save their favorite pens in an instantly accessible tab.

Once users open Samsung Notes and tap on the scribble icon at the top, they’ll see an icon of a pen marked with a golden star in the bottom left corner of the screen. Tapping that icon will pull up a handy tab containing slots to save up to nine unique pens. With six types of pens, an array of thickness options, and dozens of colors available, it’s easy to find and save the right pen for the job.

Once they’re saved, all it takes to pull up the pen you need when composing a note is a press of the S Pen’s button. Each subsequent press will switch to another favorite pen in your collection.

4. Step Up Your Screen Recordings

The Galaxy Note10’s new Screen recorder not only makes it easy to record what’s on your screen, but also features a picture-in-picture function that allows users, such as vloggers and gamers, to use the front camera to add reactions and commentary to their videos.

To start a recording, simply pull down the Quick Panel and tap on the Screen recorder icon. Once the recording starts, you’ll see icons in the top right corner to enable real-time S Pen annotation, and activate the front camera for the picture-in-picture function.

If you’d like to capture your voice while recording a picture-in-picture video, pull up the feature’s settings by pressing and holding ‘Screen recorder’ in the Quick Panel. There, you’ll find options to (1) record no sound, (2) record media sounds, and (3) record ‘media sounds and mic.’ The settings also allow you to specify precisely how large you would like your picture-in-picture video to be, and select a preferred video quality.

5. Link to Windows

To help users work more comfortably and efficiently, the Galaxy Note10 features Link to Windows integrated directly into its Quick Panel. Now, rather than bouncing from one screen to the other, users can easily connect their Galaxy Note10 to their Windows 10-based PC and mirror their phone’s screen, send and receive messages,1 and view notifications – as well as up to 25 recent photos – directly from their computer.

Link to Windows can be launched via the Quick Panel or by accessing Settings > Advanced features. Once the user logs in to their Microsoft account, the Galaxy Note10 automatically links to their PC. It’s as simple as that.

6. Connect to Samsung DeX for PC

The Galaxy Note10 takes multitasking to the next level by making Samsung DeX2 even easier to use. Now, all it takes to expand your mobile experience to your Windows PC or Mac is a simple USB cable.

Getting started is easy: simply access Samsung DeX’s official website on your PC or Mac to download and launch the Samsung DeX for PC installer, and connect your smartphone to your computer. Once everything’s set up, the program will automatically launch Samsung DeX via a window on your computer’s screen.

From there, you’ll be able to easily drag and drop files between your smartphone and PC, and enjoy more space to manage your go-to apps. In addition, even when it’s connected to your PC, your smartphone can still be used to make phone calls, send messages, and surf the internet.

7. Display Battery Percentage

These days, we’re constantly working, connecting and creating on our mobile devices, which is why we like to keep a close eye on our smartphone’s battery level.

The Galaxy Note10’s default setting is to display battery level via a simple icon on the right side of the status bar. However, users who would like to know exactly how much power they have left can access Settings > Notifications > Status bar, where they’ll find options to display the exact battery percentage, and specify how many notification icons they’d like to see at the top of their screen.

The Galaxy Note10 also features AI software that optimizes battery usage based on how you use your device. To manage your device’s battery optimization, head to Settings > Device care > Battery > Power mode. There you’ll find various power modes for increasing performance and extending battery life, as well as an ‘Adaptive power saving’ function, which enables your Galaxy Note10’s AI to automatically adjust the power mode based on your usage patterns to save power when it’s not needed.

8. Enable Bixby Routines

What if your smartphone were intelligent enough to optimize settings based on your daily routine – switching to Wi-Fi as soon as you got home, and automatically dimming the screen and activating its blue light filter to protect your eyes before you went to bed?

Bixby Routines on the Galaxy Note10 makes all that and more possible. The function utilizes machine learning to learn how you use your phone throughout the day, and recommends personalized routines that can streamline tasks to help you save more time.

The Galaxy Note10 features 14 preset Bixby Routines right out of the box, including ‘Good morning,’ ‘Work,’ ‘Home,’ ‘Before bed’ and ‘Driving.’ Best of all, creating your own Bixby Routines couldn’t be easier. Simply tap on the plus sign at the top of the menu to create a routine that works for you.

9. Rearranging Camera Modes

Because speed can be key when it comes to capturing incredible photos, the Galaxy Note10 allows you to rearrange the order of its camera modes so your most frequently used options come up first. The camera launches on Photo mode by default, and lets you designate the order of the camera modes to the left and right of Photo mode to make it easy to navigate to the mode you need.

If, for example, you like to take pictures of your food, place Food mode immediately before or after Photo. If you tend to use other modes more often than the basic Photo mode, tap on ‘Keep using last mode’ under the ‘Camera modes’ settings to enable the camera to launch on the last mode you used.

10. Quickly Access Brightness Settings

Sometimes – when watching a movie at a theater, for example – we’d like to be able to adjust our smartphone’s brightness quickly and easily. If you find yourself in these situations quite often, consider enabling the Galaxy Note10’s brightness control to be displayed above the notification panel.

To do so, simply swipe down on the Quick Panel, tap on the arrow to the right of the brightness control, and tap on ‘Show control on top.’ The display’s brightness settings also include an ‘Adaptive brightness’ function that allows the Galaxy Note10 to keep track of your brightness adjustments and apply them automatically when you use your device under similar lighting conditions.

1 Limited to 1,000 most recent messages.

2 A list of compatible PC models, and more details on how to use Samsung DeX, can be found at www.samsungdex.com

But for gaming enthusiasts, the Galaxy Note10 also comes equipped with the AI-based Game Booster, which supports optimized extended gameplay and play pattern analysis. The evolved S Pen, too, provides users with even more dynamic ways to game thanks to the brand-new Air actions.

The Galaxy Note10’s predecessor had provided hardcore gamers with all the tools they needed for the best mobile gaming experiences, but with the Galaxy Note10, users will be able to discover a device optimized for both heavy and casual gamers. In order to bring fun new gaming experiences to users, Samsung has been working hard to create exclusive experiences with leading mobile games, including joining forces with the incredibly popular Candy Crush Friends Saga.

Bringing Hungry Yeti to Life with the Galaxy Note10 and S Pen

Candy Crush Friends Saga is bringing one of its iconic characters, Hungry Yeti, to life in-game with a new augmented reality feature for Android users. Thanks to Samsung’s new partnership with Candy Crush Friends Saga, users of the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ will be able to access exclusive bonus in-game AR interactions with their S Pen while playing.

Players need simply point their device at a flat surface to see Yeti come to life on-screen and in-room. By feeding this beloved character of the Candy Crush franchise daily, players can earn gifts which they can then use in-game when matching and switching candies. Users with a Galaxy Note10 or Note10+ are able to unlock even more fun in-game features with the S Pen’s Air actions; shaking the S Pen will activate the Yeti dance.

K-Pop superstars and Candy Crush superfans Lisa and Jisoo of BLACKPINK were invited to the King HQ in Stockholm to be the first to try out the new feature on the Galaxy Note10. “We are big fans of Candy Crush,” enthused Lisa while visiting the King’s office. “While we are on tour, we spend a lot of time in transit and in hotel rooms, which is when we tend to play a lot.”

The results of DisplayMate’s comprehensive tests are in, and the world’s leading evaluator of video screens has concluded that the Galaxy Note10+ establishes a bold new standard for mobile displays – one that’s deserving of the firm’s highest-ever Excellent A+ grade.

As DisplayMate’s President, Dr. Raymond M. Soneira, explained, “The level of display performance and excellence has been increasing each year, and the Galaxy Note10+ has again raised the bar significantly higher.”

According to Soneira, the Galaxy Note10+ possesses “the most innovative and high-performance smartphone display that [DisplayMate has] ever lab tested.” During the evaluation, Samsung’s latest flagship outperformed its predecessor in several key categories, including brightness, reflectance ratio, color accuracy and blue light reduction.

Both the 6.3-inch, Full HD+ (2280×1080) Galaxy Note10 and the 6.8-inch, Quad HD+ (3040×1440) Galaxy Note10+ boast Samsung’s all-new Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O Display. The smartphones’ immersive screens include a single small, centered camera cutout at the top that allows them to offer users an exceptionally high screen-to-window ratio.

The Galaxy Note10+’s peak brightness score of 1,308 nits is an improvement of 25 percent over the Galaxy Note9 (1,050 nits), while its screen reflectance ratio is the lowest that DisplayMate has ever measured on a smartphone (4.3 percent). The smartphones’ combination of high screen brightness and low screen reflectance allows them to offer better screen readability, picture quality and color accuracy in bright environments, such as when users are outdoors.

The Galaxy Note10+’s 0.4 Just Noticeable Color Difference (JNCD) is an improvement on the Galaxy Note9’s 0.5 JNCD score, and a testament to the device’s color accuracy. Put simply, the closer a display’s JNCD score is to zero, the more accurate its colors are. The Galaxy Note10+’s 0.4 JNCD score indicates that colors depicted on its display are virtually indistinguishable from perfect.

HDR10+ support enables the Galaxy Note10+ to depict high-resolution content, such as 4K UHD videos, as realistically as possible, while Dynamic Tone Mapping technology optimizes colors from scene to scene, ensuring that content is presented exactly as creators intended. During its tests, DisplayMate also found that the Galaxy Note10+ reduced up to 37.5 percent more blue light than the Galaxy Note9 – without compromising color accuracy.

Based on its outstanding performance throughout rigorous testing, it’s easy to see why DisplayMate described the Galaxy Note10+’s screen as “an excellent, top-tier, world-class smartphone display” and described Samsung as a company that “continues to systematically improve OLED displays.”

The Galaxy Note10 and Galaxy Note10+ will officially launch starting from August 23.

When you think of doodling, you probably think of mindless scribbles on a legal pad made during those long, afternoon meetings. But for Sam Cox, doodling isn’t for staving off boredom – it’s a dream come true. The 24-year-old British artist, known as Mr. Doodle, has earned a dedicated online following for his unique graffiti style doodles.

In 2015, he made a viral hit with Appear Hear’s pop-up store, which he transformed into a massive doodle art installation, garnering 36 million views. Since then he has created mrdoodle.com, where you can find information about his art and appearances as well as purchase prints and merchandise. But he’s not just an online sensation, he also draws a crowd at his offline events.

In one such event, Cox participated in a doodle marathon to raise money for sick children. He was also appointed the spokesperson for the Korea Foster Care Center in May 2018. His success has led to collaborations with brands like Macy’s, MTV, New Balance, and most recently, Samsung.

Cox opened the Doodle World exhibition this month at the Ara Art Center — his first in Korea — featuring artwork drawn with Samsung devices. For just a small fee, visitors can borrow a Galaxy S9+ to be their audio guide as they walk through a variety of doodle installations, including a wall with a screen made of 132 Galaxy Note 8s showing Mr. Doodle’s work created with the S Pen. In another S Pen gallery, guests can take selfies with the Galaxy Note8 and decorate it with Mr. Doodle’s artwork, which they can then send to themselves via email as a souvenir. Here are some highlights from the gallery.
