Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S3 features a sleek and seamless design, top-of-the-line multimedia features and a slew of convenient enhancements to offer users premium performance and entertainment. And, thanks to its redefined S Pen and superior color rendering capability, it’s also a tool in which digital creatives can elevate their artistry to entirely new levels.

To showcase the device’s artistic features, Samsung Electronics Taiwan invited French artist Thomas Lamadieu on an exploratory tour of Taiwan. Creating new works throughout his journey, Thomas not only shared new perceptions of Formosa’s beautiful skies and urban settings, but demonstrated how the Galaxy Tab S3 can be a new medium for professional, amateur and hobbyist artists.

Challenging Perceptions

Taking expanses of blue sky framed by rooftops and building facades for inspiration, Thomas has been creating whimsical universes replete with colorful characters since 2011.

His distinctive SkyArt works, which integrate whimsical characteristic drawings into photographic images of urban settings, has garnered the attention of countless critics, art lovers and other creatives, while his exhibitions have taken him around the world. It was on his latest trip to Taiwan, however, that Thomas was able to reinterpret the island’s urban architecture through an entirely new medium: the Galaxy Tab S3.

To create his works, Thomas usually uses a fisheye lens camera to capture his desired shot, then uploads the images to his computer, where he illustrates the seemingly empty spaces between buildings using a simple computer paint program. But with the Galaxy Tab S3, Thomas was able to more easily capture the scenic attractions of Taipei, Tainan and Hualien, and start editing them right away, directly on the device’s 9.7-inch Super AMOLED display with the S Pen.

The S Pen: A New Tool for Digital Artists

Designed to support 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and equipped with a 0.7-millimeter pen tip, the S Pen is able to create flexible and realistic pen strokes – a feature that Thomas noted made it feel as if he were working with a real paintbrush.

Furthermore, with more than 30 brush and pen stroke combinations to choose from, he could utilize artistic strokes in entirely new ways, resulting in diverse and creative effects. And, with ability to mix, blend and smudge different colors as he wished, the S Pen allowed him to bring out the richness of the colors in his creations.

Together, these features, combined with the Galaxy Tab S3’s superior color rendering capability, enabled Thomas to reinterpret the enchanting alleys of Jiufen Old Street and the impressive Official God of War Temple as magical worlds.

Its art-centric features and tools like the S Pen make the Galaxy Tab S3 the ideal addition for any artist’s toolkit. And, by observing and finding beauty in their surroundings as Thomas has, just about anyone can use it to channel their creativity and bring to life their own imaginative works.

Thomas Lamadieu’s SkyArt works created on the Galaxy Tab S3 during his travels in Taiwan will be on display at the Samsung Vision Lab in Taipei from August 5 to 20. They can also be viewed on Samsung Mobile Taiwan’s Facebook page starting August 5.

Never before has music been more ingrained in our lives than it is now, in the mobile era. To help consumers more easily discover, enjoy and share music on their favorite devices, Samsung has partnered with Google Play Music, a music and podcast streaming service and online music locker.

Starting April 21, with the launch of the Galaxy S8 and S8+, Google Play Music* will be the default music player and music service on Android-based Samsung phones and tablets launched in 2017.** With the service, users can enjoy free curated radio and smart music recommendations based on their preferences, and can discover and subscribe to podcasts.

In addition, Samsung has also collaborated with Google Play Music to create exclusive features for users of the aforementioned devices. For example, users can upload and stream up to 100,000 songs from their own music collection on Google Play Music – twice the number available for general service users.

With the purchase of a Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ or Galaxy Tab S3 device, users will also receive a free three-month subscription to Google Play Music, and thus ad-free, on-demand access to over 40 million songs, as well as tailored playlists that cater to any mood or occasion. In addition, with access to YouTube Red (where available), users can enjoy ad-free videos during the trial period.

* Availability varies by country.
Launched last year and preloaded on Samsung’s newly unveiled Galaxy Book and Galaxy Tab S3 tablets, Samsung Flow is an app that allows users to synchronize their tablet with their smartphone in convenient, productivity-boosting ways. The app’s latest update, slated for release in April, expands its compatibility to include even more devices, allowing more users to simplify their always-connected lifestyles.

More Convenient Connections

Samsung Flow allows users to seamlessly manage data and messages between their Galaxy smartphone and tablet, helping them enjoy new levels of convenience and mobility.

When the devices are synchronized, users may unlock their tablet using their phone’s fingerprint sensor, manage smartphone notifications directly from their tablet, start a browsing session on one device and easily continue on the other, effortlessly transfer content between the two devices, and automatically connect their tablet to their phone’s mobile hotspot.

The app’s upcoming update will expand its compatibility from Galaxy S6 and newer devices to all Galaxy smartphones*. In addition, with the update, Samsung Flow will function on all Galaxy and Windows 10 tablets and PCs.

Simple Setup and Sign-Ins

Pairing devices is easy. Simply download the Samsung Flow app from the Google Play or Galaxy Apps store, activate Samsung Flow on both devices, and follow the application’s on-screen instructions.

After the devices have been successfully paired, users are asked to register a PIN and scan their fingerprint with their smartphone. This simple and secure layer of biometric authentication allows users to unlock and access both synchronized devices at once, helping them streamline how they manage the technology they rely on throughout their day.

Easy Alerts and Data Transfers

Samsung Flow also supports simple syncing of notifications between connected smartphones and tablets, alerting you of any missed calls and allowing you to comfortably manage messages from either device.

When working on your tablet, with Samsung Flow, you’ll be notified instantly of all incoming messages and will be able to type a quick response directly onto the device. No stopping to fumble for your phone, and no wasting time.

Speaking of saving time, Samsung Flow also supports speedy and reliable data transfers via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Users can share photos, videos and hefty documents cord and hassle free, and pause and continue browsing sessions on whichever device is more convenient. Additionally, when Wi-Fi is spotty, the app allows you to seamlessly connect your tablet to your phone’s mobile hotspot, so you’ll never be out of the loop.

Optimized for mobility and convenience, Samsung Flow’s latest update empowers more users to streamline their digital lives.

* Compatible with devices running Android OS Marshmallow (6.0) or newer and Windows 10 Creators Update or newer.

Samsung Electronics used its Mobile World Congress 2017 press conference in Barcelona to reaffirm its commitment to building products and networks that transform how consumers make use of mobile connectivity. The February 26 event saw Samsung introduce two stylishly designed tablets, the Galaxy Tab S3 and the Galaxy Book, and offer attendees and those live streaming the event from around the world tantalizing tastes of exciting partnerships and innovations to come.

Attendees were welcomed by David Lowes, Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President of Samsung Electronics Europe, who began by discussing Samsung’s drive to push the limits of innovation. To illustrate the company’s extensive efforts, Mr. Lowes welcomed Tim Baxter, President and COO of Samsung Electronics America, to the stage, who announced Samsung’s launch of a commercial 5G network portfolio as well as its plan to provide the world’s first 5G fixed wireless networks, offering blazing fast gigabit home broadband, by early next year.

Mr. Baxter was then joined by Verizon’s Executive Vice President and Chief Information Technology Architect, Roger Gurnani, who spoke on his company’s collaboration with Samsung to begin the first customer trials of 5G technology.

Later, Mark Notton, Samsung Electronics Europe’s Head of Portfolio Strategy, took to the stage to discuss the first of the company’s new tablet offerings: the Galaxy Tab S3. Describing the device as “a beautiful piece of craftsmanship that’s also powerful, fast and versatile,” Mr. Notton illuminated how the tablet’s advanced entertainment and gaming features and refined S Pen, which embodies a creative heritage dating back to Samsung’s popular Note line, help users have more fun.

Afterward, Alanna Cotton, Vice President of Samsung Electronics America, revealed the other new addition to Samsung’s tablet lineup: the Galaxy Book. After unveiling the device, Ms. Cotton outlined how Samsung optimized the 2-in-1 tablet with a lightweight and sturdy design, fast-charging battery, speedy, seventh-generation Intel® Core processor and Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system to offer users the most powerful and productive experience possible. As she told the crowd, “We’re giving users not just a perfect balance between a tablet and a laptop, but a device that can do everything their high-powered PC does.”

Before inviting attendees to test out the new tablets for themselves, Samsung took a moment to announce the launch of a new, motion-sensing Bluetooth controller for the Gear VR headset, designed to help users navigate and immerse themselves in virtual reality content, and also shared an exclusive sneak peek at another Galaxy innovation soon to make its own highly anticipated debut.

After showing a brief video offering a taste of its next flagship smartphone, Samsung distributed invitations to attend a Galaxy Unpacked event on March 29.

In case you missed the exciting announcements, check out the highlights of the event below.

Featuring a sleek and seamless design, top-of-the-line multimedia features, a redefined S Pen and a slew of convenient enhancements, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S3 offers users premium performance and entertainment.

A Signature Design

The Galaxy Tab S3’s minimal and refined design was achieved by affixing glossy, reinforced glass panels to an aluminum frame, resulting in a seamless aesthetic.

The tablet is available in a choice of either understated silver or black, to suit the refined tastes of modern millennials, and its soft-colored cover accessories, available in black, white and green, feature powdery matte finishing to complete the device’s stylish look.

Advanced Audio, Video and Gaming

Samsung optimized the Galaxy Tab S3’s entertainment features with a series of first-of-their-kind enhancements affecting everything from the device’s audio, video and gaming capabilities to its new and improved battery and cameras.

The tablet’s 9.7-inch, Super AMOLED screen, image-optimizing mDNle technology, speedy and efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB of RAM allow users to enjoy content in lifelike HDR, as well as 4K, wherever they go. The Galaxy Tab S3 also supports fast charging, and offers a stout 12 hours of video playback when fully charged. In addition, the device’s upgraded 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front-facing cameras ensure crisp and clear photos.

Of course, properly enjoying great video requires excellent sound, which is why the Galaxy Tab S3 features Quad Stereo-Sound Speakers. This is the first Samsung tablet to boast such a design, which places powerful speakers crafted by AKG by Harman in each corner of the device. The speakers’ ‘Auto Rotate Stereo’ function allows the tablet to redirect sound based on its orientation, creating a more accurate and consistent listening experience.

Gaming on the tablet has been taken up a notch, thanks to a streamlined UX and the addition of a new Game Launcher. The latter features options to help users get more out of their gaming experience, allowing them to optimize their device’s battery to lengthen a gaming session, live broadcast their gaming, and turn off notifications with ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode so they can better focus on the action at hand.

To add even more fun, Samsung also included access to the Galaxy Game Pack. Worth over $400 in value and available in 40 games, including exhilarating titles built with the Galaxy Tab S3-supported, graphics-optimizing Vulkan API, the package offers users access to unique and exclusive in-game benefits that allow them to fully enjoy some of the world’s most popular games.

A Redefined S Pen

The Galaxy Tab S3 also features Samsung’s signature, battery-free S Pen, which places a powerful creativity and productivity tool in the palm of users’ hands.

The S Pen boasts a fine, 0.7mm tip and industry-leading sensitivity, recognizing 4,096 levels of pressure. Slide-proof and measuring just over 9mm thick, the S Pen provides a comfortable and stable grip that allows for a more natural handwriting experience overall.

Useful S Pen features include Screen-off Memos, Samsung Notes and Air Command. Samsung Notes consolidates the functions of four Samsung notetaking applications in one simple app, while Air Command provides convenient access to a wide array of tools such as Translate, Magnify, Glance and Smart Select, which now lets users create, save and share their own animated GIFs.

Users may also utilize the implement’s handy PDF Annotation function to get work done on the go, or unleash their creativity with artistic apps such as Recolor, ArtRage and Autodesk’s SketchBook Pro, as well as PEN.UP, a global art community for Galaxy users, and the music-creation app Soundcamp.

Convenient Connectivity

To help users stay consistently connected, the Galaxy Tab S3 includes support for Samsung Flow, an app that allows users to seamlessly transition activities across their devices, simplifies sharing content and syncing notifications between their smartphone and their Galaxy tablet or Windows 10 2-in-1 device, and even lets users unlock their tablet with a simple scan of their Galaxy device’s fingerprint sensor.

The tablet’s dedicated, Pogo pin-connected keyboard locks into place securely so users can get to work quickly, does not require charging, and features a streamlined layout that optimizes key spacing to promote accurate typing. USB Type-C compatibility, meanwhile, provides more convenient cable connections as well as much faster data transfers.

With a sleek and seamless aesthetic, optimized entertainment features, and more tools to stay connected and productive, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S3 offers users a tablet experience that’s both incredibly fun and efficient.

Samsung Electronics and HARMAN International Industries, Incorporated, the premier connected technologies company for automotive, consumer and enterprise markets, today introduced a new level of audio experiences on Samsung Galaxy devices with the integration of GRAMMY® Award-Winning audio from AKG by HARMAN. Samsung and HARMAN initiated a technology partnership in 2016 before the parties entered into a definitive merger agreement.

As the first stage of this audio collaboration, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 will debut with quad stereo-sound speakers tuned by AKG. With premium 4K video playback and a vivid Super AMOLED display, the Galaxy Tab S3 will offer a cinema-like experience and feature S Pen productivity. The tablet’s AKG tuned speakers will produce pure sounds, free from distortion and distraction, inspiring listeners with a truly immersive acoustic experience. The speakers will also automatically adjust depending on whether the device is in landscape or portrait mode to offer the highest-quality sound.

Samsung and AKG will expand their collaboration by bringing AKG’s superior listening experience to Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Select Galaxy smartphone users will soon be able to enjoy pure, natural sound with earphones tuned by AKG included in-box with their smartphone.

AKG by HARMAN was founded by an engineer and physicist with the idea of creating pure studio sound that could become a catalyst for creative expression. For 70 years, AKG microphones and headphones have been used from the studio to the stage by the world’s most respected musicians, producers and DJs with a legacy of innovation that includes more than 1,000 patents and over 300 inventions in the field of electro acoustics.

“AKG has been delivering Grammy® Award-Winning reference sound for professional musicians for more than 70 years. Integrating AKG technology will greatly enhance Samsung’s mobile products by delivering a fully differentiated and superior audio experience to customers,” said Michael Mauser, President, HARMAN Lifestyle Audio. “We are very excited to be a part of Samsung’s prestigious Galaxy portfolio and look forward to bringing our premium audio capabilities to Samsung Galaxy users worldwide.”

Younghee Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Mobile Marketing and Wearable & Accessory business at Samsung Electronics, said, “HARMAN and the AKG brand were the natural choice to elevate our audio quality and immediately communicate the distinct and premium offering that we wanted to bring to consumers with our new product introductions. For a totally immersive experience, we wanted the best performance in audio – and we achieved that through this exciting collaboration, giving Galaxy users the ability to fully enjoy enhanced listening experiences across Samsung’s mobile portfolio.”
