The #PlayGalaxy Cup is a global mobile gaming tournament designed to showcase the powerful gaming performance of Galaxy smartphones. This year marked the first time the competition was held as a full-season league, with regional qualifiers leading up to the World Final.

The regional qualifiers were held across five regions — North America, Southwest Asia, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and Europe — with 32 teams from 17 countries competing for a place in the final stage. The top two teams from each region advanced, bringing a total of 10 teams from nine countries to the World Final at Gamescom.

After proving their skills through the regional qualifiers, the finalists then competed over two days for the championship.

All players at the World Final competed on Galaxy S26 Ultra, whose powerful processing performance and optimized thermal management enabled high-intensity matches through stable, immersive gameplay.

The final was won by Malaysian team and was livestreamed worldwide on YouTube through streamer Ludwig’s channel, drawing a total of 12.1M views.

In addition to the #PlayGalaxy Cup World Final, Samsung operated a dedicated Galaxy experience zone at the venue, where visitors could get hands-on experience with Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.

Through partnerships with HoYoverse, TiMi Studio, and Gameloft, visitors to Samsung’s booth were also able to experience a variety of popular game titles across Galaxy devices.

Samsung To Spotlight 2027 Odyssey Lineup at Gamescom 2026

Samsung will present the 2027 Odyssey lineup for the first time during its dedicated Gamescom 2026 session, “#PlaySamsung : The Next Era of Gaming Displays,” at 10:30 a.m. CET on Aug. 27. The session will explore how screen size, resolution, refresh rate, and display modes suit different games and play styles.

The Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SJ model) and Odyssey OLED G7 (G75SJ model) will be unveiled on stage, while the Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SJ model) and Odyssey G6 (G60H model) will be introduced on-screen during the keynote.

As a part of the session, Samsung will also spotlight its HDR10+ GAMING partnership with Activision Blizzard, bringing richer HDR gameplay into the development process for Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 4. The technology helps compatible Odyssey monitors and Samsung displays deliver color and contrast that more accurately reflect the creative intent of each game. Samsung plans to expand the HDR10+ GAMING ecosystem to more than 20 AAA titles by the first half of 2027.

The company will also showcase its expanding Odyssey 3D game support, developed through direct collaboration with game studios. Odyssey OLED G9: 49-Inch OLED Speed for Ultra-Wide Gameplay

The Odyssey OLED G9 is the world’s first 49-inch DQHD gaming monitor with a 360 Hz refresh rate. It features a fifth-generation QD-OLED panel with Penta Tandem technology. Its five-layer panel structure is up to 1.3 times more efficient and offers up to twice the lifetime of the previous generation. The RGB Stripe sub-pixel layout reduces color fringing and supports clearer text, while the display reaches a peak brightness of up to 1,300 nits on a 3% window at 4K resolution.¹

Samsung Electronics today announced that it will be displaying its comprehensive gaming ecosystem spanning PC, console, and mobile games at Gamescom 2026, which is one of the world’s largest gaming events taking place in Cologne, Germany from Aug. 26-30.

Across a 1,090-square-meter exhibition space, Samsung will present its full package of gaming devices under its theme of “#PlaySamsung,” which includes gaming monitors, mobile devices, SSDs, and headsets. The experience will offer visitors hands-on experiences with popular game titles across a variety of genres and play environments.
