Wonderland: Dynamic Customization for Lock and Home Screens

Wonderland enables users to create animated wallpapers for the lock and home screens — bringing a vibrant, dynamic aesthetic to the first screens encountered when the device is turned on.

Previously, the same wallpaper had to be applied to both the lock and home screens. However, in response to user feedback, each screen can now be customized independently for greater creative freedom.

Users can layer various design elements — such as images, text, videos and particle effects¹ — and apply motion effects including left-right, up-down and front-back movement to create 3D wallpapers that respond dynamically to device tilt and touch.

Moreover, users can personalize the transition effects between the Always On Display (AOD) and the lock screen to add a stylish touch to their device’s first impression. Detailed controls over transition speed and depth allow for playful effects, such as stickers that appear and disappear over an image.

As one of Good Lock’s defining features, Wonderland combines creativity with the satisfaction of a visually immersive experience.

Edge Lighting+: Customized Notifications That Catch the Eye

Edge lighting+ transforms everyday notifications into eye-catching visuals — adding a personalized touch to every alert that appears on the screen.

Through the Set Custom Style menu, users can fully customize the image, color and animation that accompany incoming notifications. Beyond default images, stickers created on Galaxy devices can be applied to give each notification a unique and personal touch.

The Style by keyword menu allows users to assign specific effects to notifications containing certain keywords — ensuring that important messages stand out. For example, terms like “boss,” “report” or “meeting” can trigger distinct visuals for relevant notifications.

Nice Shot: Effortless Screenshot Management

Nice Shot streamlines screenshot management — making it easy to capture, delete and organize images the moment they appear on screen.

A delete button appears immediately after taking a screenshot, allowing users to remove images they don’t need without opening the Gallery app.

Furthermore, users can configure their device to automatically enable Do Not Disturb mode during screen recordings to prevent interruptions from notifications or messages.

Good Lock’s No. 1 Feature: Sound Assistant

Good Lock’s No. 3 Feature: One Hand Operation+

Ranking third among the most-used Good Lock features, One Hand Operation+ has proven its practicality with more than 16 million cumulative downloads.

This feature enables users to perform frequently used smartphone functions with a single thumb gesture, making it particularly helpful for multitasking throughout the day. Whether holding a drink in one hand or navigating through a crowded bus on the way to work, One Hand Operation+ guarantees users smooth, effortless control of their device.

The tool supports both left and right-handed users and allows specific functions to be assigned to horizontal, vertical or diagonal gestures. For instance, a left horizontal swipe could be set to “Back,” a right downward diagonal swipe to “Home” and an upward diagonal swipe to open “Recent Apps” or launch AI Select.

Users can further customize and refine gesture control settings to match their preferences and usage patterns. Options include adjusting the touch recognition range and gesture vibration intensity, excluding specific apps from gesture activation and even configuring gestures for the S Pen.

DIY Home Screen: A Fresh Take on App Layout and Organization

Breaking away from traditional grids and uniform app icons, the DIY Home Screen feature in Home Up empowers users to design a layout that reflects their unique style. Apps, widgets and folders can all be freely resized and repositioned — much like customizing the pages of a planner.

For a playful touch, users can cleverly conceal app icons underneath decorative elements with sticker and layer tools. Simply add a sticker to the home screen, place it over an app icon and adjust the layer settings. This setup transforms the sticker into a fun shortcut that launches the hidden app when tapped.

Show Favorites: Display or Hide the Favorite Apps Row

The fixed row of favorites at the bottom of the home screen is a familiar element on most smartphones. With Good Lock, however, this default layout is easy to customize. Users who prefer a cleaner, more minimalist aesthetic can disable the Show Favorites option in the Home Up menu for a simplified and refreshed home screen experience.

Home Gesture Animation: Fine-Tuned Control for Smoother Navigation

The Home Gesture Animation feature — found under Good Lock > Home Up > Gesture Settings — is perfect for users who want to add a touch of personality to every interaction. The feature offers a unique way to customize the transition animations activated when returning from an app to the home screen, making even the simplest gestures more expressive and enjoyable.

Alongside the four preset animation styles, Advanced Tuning provide granular control over aspects like speed and vibration for a more refined user experience.

Keep Things Horizontal With MultiStar’s ‘Rotate with our best’

There’s nothing more inconvenient than when you have your Galaxy Tab S7 or S7+ propped up on your keyboard cover and the app you want to open doesn’t support landscape mode, meaning you have to manually re-orient your tablet.

With the MultiStar feature’s ‘Rotate with our best’² option, you can use all apps, even those that don’t normally support landscape mode, at horizontal orientations on your tablet.

The MultiStar feature also offers other helpful functionalities for seamless experiences. ‘Enable multi window to all apps’ lets you open up multiple apps in pop-up or split-screen views, while ‘Pop-up view action’ allows you to switch between pop-up and full-screen views with a simple swipe from the top of your screen. ‘Immersive Mode’, new to Good Lock in 2021, lets you hide status and navigation bars when in split-screen view.

Enjoy Better Device Controls With One Hand Operation+

In order to make tablet usage more comfortable, the One Hand Operation+ feature³ adds gesture handles to your tablet screen so that you can easily control your tablet one-handed.

With this feature, you can enable a thin gesture handle on either side of your screen and customize it to perform actions like loading the previous page in your browser or turning off the display.

You can even customize a gesture handle to take a screenshot, a functionality that otherwise requires you to use the ‘Palm swipe to capture’ feature.

Customize Your Color Palette With Theme Park

Everyone has their own personal tastes when it comes to color palettes, and from our clothes to our tablets, we all enjoy matching every aspect of our lives to our aesthetic.

This is where the Theme Park feature⁴ comes in. Theme Park lets you easily customize your Galaxy Tab S7 or S7+’s wallpaper, keyboard and Quick panel theme– an expansion of the Quick panel customization available previously via Good Lock’s QuickStar feature.

Personalize Your Keyboard With Keys Cafe

Finally, in order to provide you with keyboard experiences optimized to your needs and preferences, the Keys Cafe feature⁵ was launched last October.

Keys Cafe lets you customize your keyboard’s layout and offers various fun keyboard themes and effects. You can even customize your keyboard with bespoke shortcuts. Say you’re taking notes for class. With Keys Cafe, you can include a keyboard shortcut that lets you seamlessly insert today’s date or paste the last thing copied to the clipboard without disrupting your workflow.

In order to put the power of customization straight into your hands, several exciting new features have come to the Good Lock app. Along with three brand new applications designed to help you make your S Pen, wallpaper and keyboard truly your own, two existing handy apps are also being updated with new features to provide you with maximum device ease of use.

Style Your S Pen

The first new app that has come to Good Lock is Pentastic,¹ an app that lets you customize the way your S Pen works for you. Pentastic allows you to personalize how your S Pen responds to you by providing different theme and sound options for features such as Air command² and Hover pointer.

Furthermore, Pentastic allows you to set up your own dedicated S Pen shortcut. With this feature, you can select an app to immediately launch by double tapping the S Pen on your smartphone screen while simultaneously holding down the S Pen button. This ensures you have instant access to the functionalities that mean the most to you.

Live Life in 3D

Customizing your device’s homescreen and lockscreen is one way of definitively making your smartphone your own, and with the Wonderland³ app, you can take this one step further by creating 3D moving wallpapers for your device.

Wonderland is an app that supports easy and quick 3D wallpaper creation. Once you’ve selected a wallpaper and an image to transform in the app, you can apply motion effects and particle effects and choose from a range of presets to create a moving wallpaper that is as unique as it is dynamic.

Curate Your Keyboard

Given its crucial role in how we use our smartphones and tablets, the keyboard is naturally one of the most commonly-used functionalities of any device. In order to provide a keyboard experience that is optimized to your tastes, the upcoming Keys Cafe⁴ app is set to let you customize your keyboard settings to be more comfortable for you thanks to its keyboard height and width resizing and key layout repositioning options.

Furthermore, you will be able to insert some personality into your keyboard experience with the range of themes and dynamic effects available in the Keys Cafe app. Keys Cafe will also launch with an exciting feature that turns typing into a game by providing scores and rankings to help minimize your typos.

Customize Your Experiences

The upcoming update to the Home Up app is set to provide you with more control over the sharing process. Through the Share Manager⁵ feature, you will be able to choose to hide specific commands – such as Share Nearby and Direct Share – from the sharing window as you choose, and manage your Direct Share contacts by electing favorites or ones to hide. Furthermore, you can enjoy more control over the sharing UX by managing the apps that appear in your sharing window.

Updates to the MultiStar app have brought the I ♡ Galaxy Tablet⁶ feature to users, which allows you to enjoy all-new Wireless Keyboard Sharing. This feature lets you connect your smartphone to the Book Cover Keyboard attached to your tablet and seamlessly switch between typing on both devices. The MultiStar app also supports more convenient orientation shifting for pinned apps, allowing you options for how the pinned app moves when you shift between portrait and landscape modes.

Pentastic and Wonderland are available to users now. Keys Cafe and the updated Home Up applications will be available on the Good Lock app at the beginning of October.⁷

The first ever Good Lock application, released in 2016 and compatible with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, introduced users to a frequently-updated array of customizable features for their Galaxy devices. Responding to consumer demand, Samsung has now released Good Lock 2018 to give Android 8.0 Oreo users the freedom to personalize their Galaxy device’s appearance and interface experience.

Love Your Lock Screen

Lockstar is changing how you see your locked phone, allowing you to style your lock screen with a wide range of designs. You can select your preferred background and clock face, as well as which items appear visible on the screen, and these features can be arranged in a variety of configurations. The app also gives you the flexibility to choose the gesture which prompts the phone to unlock and to place shortcuts to apps you use regularly on the lock screen, so the phone will open straight to them after unlocking.

Customize Your Quick Panel

Use Quickstar to give your Quick Panel a makeover. With the Coloring tab, you can choose from a list of recommendations or create your own palette by adjusting the hues which mark On or Off for each setting, the color and transparency of the background, and the Blur and Dim effects. The Simple Indicator tab also gives you increased control over the icons displayed in your Status Bar and the Notification Multi-Window tab allows you to toggle the Notification Multi-Window on and off. With the Notification Multi-Window enabled, you can check the necessary information more conveniently on the pop-up window.

Change Tasks in Style

The Task Changer app allows you to scroll through recent apps by swiping left and right, rather than up and down, changing the way you move from task to task. There is a choice of Scroll effects and the opportunity to turn on Mini Mode, which shrinks the apps in the bottom of the screen to aid one-handed scrolling.

Once Task Changer is enabled, you can pull up the Recently Used Apps and choose to either use the app as a pop-up screen, or split view two apps by holding down the app you would like to use a little harder. Once task changer is enabled, you can also receive more information about the app, lock the app, or hide the app’s contents by tapping the icon image on the top.

Establish a Routine

Using Routines, you can combine processes and functions to create new features. Give each routine a name before selecting the conditions that will prompt the routine and the actions that you want it to perform. To ensure the perfect movie-watching environment, for example, you can set a routine that turns on Wi-Fi, rotates your screen to landscape and adjusts your sound and brightness levels, as soon as you open your chosen media app.

Choose Your Clock

Read the time in a whole new way with ClockFace, an app which allows you to choose from numerous clock designs for your always on display and lock screen. Choices include analog or digital clock faces and there is a spectrum of colors available, including tones which adapt with the color of the background and rainbow effects.

Become Part of the Family

Good Lock 2018 is one member of a family of apps designed to heighten customization on your Galaxy smartphone. For example, EdgeLighting + allows you to tailor Edge Lighting effects to your liking. With Edge Touch, you can establish Edge Zones which do not recognize screen touch to prevent accidental actions. Further adjustable options are offered with One Hand Operation +, designed to help you navigate your device one-handed, with thumb gestures alone. Finally, Sound Assistant gives you even greater control over Sound settings, including the ability to personalize your phone’s sound for different times and manage individual app volume.
