<p>August 10, 2016, Samsung Electronics America today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Dacor<sup>®</sup>, a leading American brand in the luxury home appliance category.  The acquisition marks Samsung’s continued investment in the home appliance market and an expansion of its portfolio to include ultra-premium home appliances under the Dacor brand.</p>
<p>Founded by Stanley M. Joseph, the California-based company has been designing and manufacturing American-made luxury kitchen appliances since 1965 and has emerged as a trusted industry leader. Upon completion of the acquisition, Dacor will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics America. Dacor will maintain its corporate identity and brand, with no changes to its operations and US-based manufacturing.</p>

<p>In the last of three video tutorials, chef Michel Troisgros presents his Parmesan Soufflé Omelet, a modernized version of a traditional French meal. Chef Troisgros says the recipe is a family tradition because it is so light and elegant. A soufflé is a French word, which loosely means “puffed up.” It is a lightly baked cake of beaten egg whites mixed with custard. A properly prepared soufflé is light and fluffy. Chef Troisgros adds a special twist to the typical omelet by baking it, giving it a really pleasant texture. Samsung makes it easy with the Chef Collection kitchen appliances.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #000080">Meet the Chef</span></h3>
<p>Chef Michel Troisgros comes from a lineage of culinary masters who have been significant to French cuisine for three generations. He now owns and operates the family business in Roanne. He has traveled the world to learn from master chefs in Paris, London, San Francisco, Tokyo, New York and Brussels. Together with his wife, he reinvented his family’s restaurant, La Maison Troisgros, to a cordial and modern environment of purified design, evoking modernity, Zen, elegance and refinement. The restaurant has been awarded three Michelin stars since 1968. In addition, La Maison Troisgros is rated the Best French Restaurant in the World by Gault Millau. <p>Troisgros remains true to simple but sophisticated flavors. He achieves his dishes using as few ingredients as possible, never using more than five or six per dish. He upholds the traditions of French cooking, while incorporating new styles learned from this worldwide travel.</p>

<p><strong>Preparation:</strong></p>
<p>First, prepare eggs by separating whites and yolks. In a pot, bring milk and 60g of butter to a boil. In a large bowl, whisk eight egg yolks with 60g of flour until the dough is still light but firm. Gradually add the boiling milk and butter, whisking into the dough. Bring back to heat and mix until it is thick like custard. Set aside. Next, whisk three egg whites until stiff. Mix in yolks with whites with a rubber spatula. Fold while using very wide gestures to add more air, keeping whites very firm.</p>
<p><strong>Omelet:</strong></p>
<p>Melt butter into a pan. Pour the omelet mix into the pan until edges begin to crisp. Put in the oven and bake for four minutes at 400F. Move omelet from pan to a piece of parchment paper. Grate Parmesan cheese. Gently fold omelet in half. Grate more Parmesan cheese and orange zest.</p>
<p><strong>Plating:</strong></p>
<p>Place omelet and parchment paper on a plate. Place another plate face down on top of the first plate. Flip the plate over to transfer the omelet to the new plate without parchment paper. Finish by garnishing with more grated Parmesan.</p>

Farcie is a French word meaning stuffed. In this case, the omelet is stuffed with scrambled eggs, a preparation learned during apprenticeships in Lyon. What chef Boulud really loves about breakfast is the ability to create amazing dishes using just a few ingredients. In his version of the omelet farcie, he combines the smokiness of salmon with the sharpness of lemon zest.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #000080">Meet the Chef</span></h3>
<p>Although born and trained in France, chef Daniel Boulud is now considered one of leading authorities on cuisine in America. He focuses on seasonal gastronomy, or the use of fine ingredients. Since coming to the United States in 1982, he made his name as the Executive Chef at Le Cirque, receiving many awards and making it one of the highest rated restaurants in the country. Today, he is the chef-owner of several restaurants around the world, and is renowned for his contemporary twist on traditional French cooking.</p>
<p>Chef Boulud’s namesake restaurant, DANIEL, in New York City, is rated one of the top 10 restaurants in the world by the International Herald Tribune. It also received Gourmet’s Top Table Award, a four-star rating from the New York Times and two Michelin stars. DANIEL has also been inducted into Culinary Hall of Fame and is an annual fixture on Restaurant Magazine’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants. Beyond Manhattan, chef Boulud has opened restaurants in Palm Beach, Miami, Las Vegas, Boston, and Washington D.C., as well as Singapore, London, and Montreal.</p>

<p><strong>Omelet Farcie:</strong></p>
<p>First, prepare eggs in two separate bowls, five eggs for the outer omelet shell and three eggs for the scrambled egg stuffing. Season the omelet shell with salt and pepper. Using the Chef Collection range, set up a double boiler to make a scrambled egg stuffing. Sprinkle in the lemon zest and chopped chives while whisking. Set the egg scramble aside. Melt butter in a pan and add the omelet mixture. Chef Boulud’s tip for the best omelet is to stir the eggs until they begin to curdle, then let the omelet set. Once the omelet begins to set, add the chopped salmon. Spoon in the scrambled egg filling on one half of the omelet. Save a spoonful for plating. Using a rubber spatula, begin to fold one side of the omelet to the center. After folding one half, holding the handle of the pan, tap the pan at the handle with a fist to let the omelet roll to the other edge. Close the omelet using the rubber spatula.</p>
<p><span style="color: #000000"><strong>Plating:</strong></span></p>
<p>Slide the omelet from the pan to a plate. Slice a small opening in the center of the top side, filling with the remaining scrambled eggs. Top with caviar. Garnish with remaining sliced salmon and sprigs of chives.</p>

<p>Chef Kostow is an American chef, known for his emphasis on farm-to-table cuisine, made from locally grown ingredients, some of which he grows himself. As the Executive Chef at The Restaurant at Meadowood in Napa Valley, California, since 2008, he has been awarded three Michelin stars every year since 2011. He is only the second American-born chef and the third-youngest chef to ever receive a three-star rating in the Michelin Guide. He has received accolades from many of the country’s top food publications, including Bon Appetit, Time Magazine, and Food & Wine Magazine. In 2013, chef Kostow received the James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: West. Classically trained in France through apprenticeships, his dishes combine flavors from locally grown Californian, French and New American cuisine. He appeared on Iron Chef America in 2010, battling Iron Chef Cat Cora. Passionate about food in every part of the farm-to-table process, he believes the keys to great cooking are fresh ingredients and accentuating original flavors.</p>

<p><strong>Steamed Omelet:</strong></p>
<p>Start with eggs, whole milk and white soy sauce in a large bowl. Add milk powder. This will thicken the egg mix, giving a nice density to the steamed omelet. Whisk until all of the milk powder is dissolved. Using a pan lined with parchment paper, pour in the eggs. Put that pan inside a larger pan of simmering water. This will keep your omelet from cooking too fast or hard, allowing it to set like a light custard. Using your Chef Collection oven, bake for 20 min at 325F.</p>
<p><strong>Beurre Monte with Roe Sauce:</strong></p>
<p>A beurre monte is a French preparation of sauce made from melted butter. First, on your Chef Collection range top, reduce white wine and cream together, then add butter. Next add your trout roe, or caviar. Delicately fold everything together, being careful not to break the fish eggs. After finishing the sauce, use a pan to sauté the wild onions in oil.</p>
<p><strong>Plating:</strong></p>
<p>Slice the steamed omelet and add 4-5 slices per plate. Use a spoon to add beurre monte. Finally, garnish with wild onion.</p>

Samsung’s line of products – including a new dual door version of one of its most popular ovens, a kitchen range that finally makes induction heat a practical addition to any kitchen and a counter-depth refrigerator which makes breakthrough performance and design widely accessible – are on display at the 2015 International CES from Jan. 6-9, 2015.</p>

<p>In 2013, Samsung launched Club des Chefs, a first-of-its-kind global culinary initiative that brought together world class chefs to collaborate with Samsung on the development of next-generation products. The result was the Samsung Chef Collection, a suite of beautifully designed professional chef-level appliances that has re-defined performance and design in the kitchen.</p>
<p>The connection between chef insights, products and consumers has proven so strong that Samsung is taking a holistic look at the cooking process and has introduced new content and services to make Club des Chefs and the Samsung Chef Collection truly immersive at-home culinary experiences. <p>Last year marked an exciting one for Samsung’s cooking category, from successfully transitioning the entire freestanding gas line-up to a more premium design to offering clever advancements like Clean View Door, which offers the largest viewing window space of any major brand in its class. In 2015, Samsung will transition its electric range line to match the new premium design reflected in the gas category.</p>
<p>Cooking flexibility remains an area of interest for consumers, and Samsung addresses this head-on. This year, Samsung will evolve its popular Flex Duo<sup>TM</sup> Oven Range with the introduction of Dual Door<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />. The Samsung Chef Collection Slide-In Induction Range with Virtual Flame Technology<sup>TM</sup> not only delivers the full benefits of induction cooking, but takes it a step further.</p>
<p>A CES Innovation Awards honoree, the induction range features LED lighting embedded beneath a glass cooktop to cast a reassuring flame-like glow onto pots and pans when in use. <p>The new counter depth version of the T9000 makes it accessible to a much larger segment of the consumer market. Its slim design easily fits into standard kitchen cabinets, so it delivers a more harmonized look and feel for today’s modern kitchens.
