Samsung Electronics, the world leader in advanced memory technology, today announced its new microSD card, the Samsung PRO Endurance. Uniquely designed to meet the rigorous demands of surveillance cameras, dashboard cameras, doorbell cameras, body cameras and more, the card offers improved endurance and outstanding performance for smooth and reliable continuous capture and playback.

“From CCTV to doorbell cameras, the need for long-lasting and high-performing video surveillance solutions is continuing to increase, and the PRO Endurance has been designed to support that demand,” said KyuYoung Lee, Vice President of the Memory Brand Product Biz Team at Samsung Electronics. “Both consumers and enterprise users can rest assured that our new memory card will ensure continuous recording at high resolution even under extreme conditions.”

Strengthened Endurance

Built with Samsung’s highly reliable enterprise-grade NAND flash memory, the PRO Endurance card can deliver up to 16 years (140,160 hours)1 of continuous recording time to ensure every critical moment is captured. This means a single PRO Endurance card can last as long as up to 33 typical speed-focused cards,2 saving frequent replacement costs and providing greater reliability for always-on video monitoring.

Improved Performance

Samsung’s new memory card also offers read and write speeds of up to 100 megabytes per second (MB/s) and 40 MB/s,3 respectively, and is rated Class 10 with video speed ratings of up to U3 (UHS Speed Class 3) and V30 (Video Speed Class 30).4 This makes it ideal for handling large, high-resolution files while enabling seamless recording and playback in Full HD and 4K.

Long-Lasting Durability

Since outdoor surveillance and body cameras can be subject to harsh environments, the PRO Endurance has been engineered to offer trusted performance in everyday use with Samsung’s reinforced six-proof durability. In addition to protection against water, magnets, X-rays and extreme temperatures, the card is now wearout-proof and drop-proof.5

Available in four different storage capacities of 32 gigabytes (GB), 64GB, 128GB and 256GB with the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP) ranging from $10.99 for the 32GB to $54.99 for the 256GB, the PRO Endurance is available worldwide starting May 3.

Built on the Galaxy foundation users have come to know and love, the Galaxy Note8 offers the same great collection of cutting-edge features that have over the past few years redefined the mobile experience. With enhanced performance capabilities, water and dust resistance and expandable memory, the latest addition to the Galaxy Note lineup is a device that is designed to help users do more and make things happen.

The Power to Do More

Providing up to 6GB of RAM memory plus up to 256GB of expandable memory via microSD card,* the Galaxy Note8 provides large-scale capacity for running and storing essential data such as documents, movies and music. These features along with the phone’s 10nm application processor (AP) give users the power they need to browse, stream, play games and multitask.

The Galaxy Note8 is also gigabit LTE and gigabit Wi-Fi ready, meaning that it is built to give users superior connection speed by tapping into network speeds that can go as high as 1 gigabit per second.

Protection Against the Elements

Because the entire device including its S Pen is IP68 water and dust resistant,** the Galaxy Note8 lets users take photos, check email and jot down their thoughts without interruption – even when the screen is wet.

To create a water resistant device, Samsung engineers had to ensure the protection of every component.

In particular, the S Pen required the integration of multiple technologies including printed circuit board (PCB) molding and rubber sealing. The molding covers the surface of the PCB and consists of a special epoxy material. Rubber sealing, meanwhile, prevents water damage by sealing off all vulnerable passageways and by covering important components without affecting their functionality.

The S Pen’s pen tip, for example, reaches to the internal components of the pen and makes tiny movements that trigger the pen pressure switch. In addition to preventing water from flowing in, the sealing process also ensures that there is enough room for the pen tip to move as needed.

Unlock at Once

Equipped with the latest version of the industry-leading security platform Samsung Knox, the Galaxy Note8 provides strengthened security features and enhanced convenience through a combination of biometrics. Leveraging Samsung’s innovative iris and fingerprint scanning, the Galaxy Note8 offers various services to provide an additional layer of security while facial recognition capabilities enhance convenience.

Users can opt to access Secure Folder, an encrypted folder that lets users manage private apps and files securely via PIN, pattern, passcode or biometric authentication to keep private and personal data sandboxed separately on their smartphone. Similarly, Samsung Pass enables people to quickly and easily log into mobile banking apps and websites on the Samsung Internet Browser using biometric authentication rather than having to repeatedly input usernames and passwords.

Galaxy Note8 users can also make use of iris and fingerprint scanning to access Samsung Pay, enabling a secure, yet more convenient way to pay.

In recent years, people have been using their smartphones for content consumption more than ever before. For example, it’s a common sight nowadays to see people enjoying their favorite TV show or a new movie on the subway or at a local coffee shop. Along with this trend, the utilization of high-capacity memory cards has also been rapidly growing with research firm IHS forecasting the total gigabytes (GB) of memory card space sold in the market to more than double in three years1.

However, the major problem for many people is that the megabytes and gigabytes of data that make up the content they love just isn’t tangible. Thus, they don’t often appreciate the importance of a memory card until it’s too late. Also, the sheer number of available memory cards adds a new level of confusion. While memory cards have a similar appearance, they vary widely in performance and reliability.

To make this even more tangible, let’s imagine you are about to take a long trip. You want to download multiple seasons of your favorite dramas onto your device, especially as you know there may be poor reception where you’re going and you’re also cautious about your monthly data consumption. As it turns out, services like Netflix have given users the choice to save to external memory with just this factor in mind, so you head to the store to purchase a memory card. But, out of the shelves of choices, which one do you choose and how?

Making the Right Choice

What consumers are looking for in a memory card is simple—a reliable choice. As the world’s leader in memory technology, the features of Samsung’s memory cards provide a good guide to making the right memory card choice.

Here are the key tips:

First, transfer speed is key. With a read/write speed of up to 100/90 MB/s2, which is the rate that you’ll find in the Samsung EVO Plus range of memory cards, you can transfer even the largest files quickly. Transferring a 3GB 4k video from a PC to the card will take a mere 46 seconds3. Also, the speed allows for the saving of up to 20 photos with one touch when taking photos in burst Mode.

Compatibility is another valuable trait in a memory card. The best options will work not just with your smartphone, but many other devices. Samsung EVO Plus memory cards are compatible with a wide range of devices, including DSLR, 4K action cameras, smartphones, tablets, 360 cameras, and drones4. SD adapter, which now comes with the purchase of every Samsung EVO Plus card, also ensures the cards are flexible for both microSD and full size SD slots.

The next factor to check for is capacity. Samsung EVO Plus memory cards feature a capacity ranging up to 256GB, among the highest in the microSD market, which means all needs are catered for. With 256GB of storage5, you have enough space to keep 12 hours of 4K video6 or up to 22,500 songs7. Running out of space is no longer an issue.

The final, but by no means least important factor, is reliability. The fact, as mentioned earlier, that Samsung EVO Plus memory cards come with a ten-year limited warranty8 will give users added assurance. Additionally, the cards feature 4-proof technology9 meaning, in specific, they can survive up to 72 hours in seawater (IEC60529, IPx7), endure extreme temperatures10, withstand airport X-ray machines11 and resist a magnetic field equivalent to a high-field MRI scanner12.

In a marketplace where there’s so little to differentiate products by physical appearance, it pays to look beyond the aesthetics. Under the hood of the best-in-class memory cards is enough cutting-edge technology to boost performance and reliability. In real terms, that means less time worrying and more time enjoying the device the card is inserted into. It also means your favorite content will always be with you thanks to the extra capacity your memory card will provide.
