In today’s hybrid work environment, video calls are a daily occurrence, and Galaxy Book4 Edge helps defy language barriers with international colleagues, friends and family. Live Captions9 provide accurate subtitles in real time. If there are spoken words, regardless of the application, turn them into English subtitles in real time on your screen.

Galaxy Book4 Edge is designed to make workflows more comprehensive than ever, backed by incredibly efficient, 4x faster AI processing thanks to the Snapdragon X Elite compute platform.10 Move between applications and commands seamlessly with the device’s dedicated AI key, activating AI capabilities with a simple keystroke.
Samsung Galaxy users can now enjoy an even larger suite of tools for creators. Galaxy Book4 Edge with Cocreator uses AI to transform creative pursuits. Turn sketches and text into fine art, or input text prompts to create entirely new designs.

Take creativity on video calls to the next level with Windows Studio effects. Make video conferences a bit more fun by experimenting with camera filters and background effects powered by on-device AI, or enjoy voice focus, portrait blur and eye contact.

Galaxy Book4 Edge’s premium display and design upgrades make it even easier to be fully immersed in creative pursuits. Vision Booster delivers improved outdoor visibility and the anti-reflective13 10-point multi-touch touchscreen dramatically reduces glare alongside the Dynamic AMOLED 2X14 display. Its ultra-thin and light design ensures users have the freedom to create whenever and wherever creativity strikes. An adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz also delivers a remarkable display alongside cinema-grade brightness and color standards.

With Auto Super Resolution, the Galaxy Book4 Edge does not compromise graphics, delivering high-definition and high-frame graphics that upscale games in real time.15

And as a Microsoft Secured-core PC out of the box, Windows customers can feel confident in the advanced safeguarding of firmware that comes with the highest level of Windows 11 protection.

With on-device AI, select Galaxy AI and Copilot+ features process user functions without uploading data to the cloud, protecting user privacy. For Recall, your snapshots are yours. They stay local on your PC and you can use easy controls to delete, adjust and filter what content is saved. You are always in control with privacy you can trust. For features that require cloud-based AI activity, Microsoft’s suite of security features offer around the clock protection. Device Privacy Settings further embody Samsung Galaxy’s commitment to give users choice over their device and AI safeguards.

Samsung Electronics today announced the first step in a plan to reimagine mobile device security for business customers in partnership with Microsoft. This collaboration has led to the industry’s first on-device, mobile hardware-backed device attestation solution that works equally well on both company and personally owned devices.

Device attestation can help ensure a device’s identity and health, verifying that it has not been compromised. On-device, mobile hardware-backed device attestation — available on Samsung Galaxy1 devices and combined with protection from Microsoft Intune — now adds enhanced security and flexibility. For enterprises, this is an extra layer of protection against compromised devices falsely claiming to be known and healthy, gaining access to sensitive corporate data. Additionally, organizations can now enable employees to bring their own device (BYOD) to work with the confidence that they are protected with the same level of security as company owned devices. For employees, this means added flexibility for their personal Galaxy devices to safely access their work environment.

In a rapidly evolving landscape with changing work habits and increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, Zero Trust is a security model based on three principles: always assume breach, verify explicitly and provide least privilege access. Implementation of Zero Trust has become mandated by regulated industries and public sector customers, such as the United States government.2 This requires a new approach for enforcing security end-to-end, from apps to the network and the device itself, regardless of device ownership and enrollment.

Together, Samsung and Microsoft are uniquely positioned to enable this. Samsung is the industry leader for global smartphones. The Samsung Knox security platform is 10 years old. In that time, Samsung Knox has been activated on more than a billion Samsung Galaxy devices. That’s more than 30,000 businesses in 110 markets relying on Samsung Knox to protect their devices from cyberattacks. Microsoft is the industry leader in unified endpoint management software market share3 and delivers end-to-end cross-cloud, cross-platform security solutions, which integrate different categories across security, compliance, identity, device management and privacy, informed by more than 65 trillion threat signals each day.4 With this partnership, the first mobile hardware-backed device attestation bridges the consumer and the world of work, allowing people to safely bring their personal devices to work.

“Samsung is committed to meaningful innovations that are as secure as they are versatile and optimized,” said KC Choi, EVP and Head of Global Mobile B2B Team, MX Business at Samsung Electronics. “As work habits evolve and people are working from virtually anywhere on any device, we are paving the way for the future of enterprise device security and democratizing the means for businesses to better protect their information.”

Flexibility for Enterprises and End Users

For enterprise IT managers, mobile hardware-backed device attestation with Intune provides strong protection for corporate needs without impacting the user experience. With this integration, even highly regulated organizations can adopt a BYOD policy with this additional layer of protection on the Samsung devices widely used by consumers and professionals for work. This increases worker productivity, provides better experiences for users, and simplifies administration.

This joint Samsung-Microsoft solution works on both managed and unmanaged devices regardless of ownership.5 Traditional device attestation mainly works on managed devices as it is server-based and requires network connectivity, meaning the entire device has to be enrolled into the corporate system.

With mobile hardware-backed attestation, enterprises can verify a device’s integrity and allow access to the corporate system whether it is managed or unmanaged. The user experience is also streamlined to enable employees to bring their personal devices to work and safely access the corporate system without extra security steps.

“Samsung’s industry-leading hardware and software solutions, coupled with the power of the Microsoft Cloud and Intune, uniquely position us to empower defenders with end-to-end capabilities to help stop sophisticated bad actors and improve Zero Trust security posture,” said Michael Wallent, CVP Microsoft Security — Management. “With this partnership, we are committed to continuous innovation that will ensure the most security-minded organizations have the best possible mobile device protection.”

At last August’s Unpacked event, I shared my strategy to bring more empowering mobile technology to as many people as possible, especially at a time when they needed it most. Now, around one year later, our world is slowly but surely preparing to reopen in many ways. We’re all yearning for freedom and the possibilities that this new world has to offer thanks to advancements in technology that are set to make our world bigger than it ever was.

This past year, new technologies continued to reshape the way we live. Our collaboration with trusted industry partners allowed us to drive seamless experiences that offer more personalization and versatility than ever. As we enter this new era of agile transformation, I believe that open ecosystems are the only way to accelerate innovation and give people more freedom to create their own experiences that are best for their lifestyles.

Samsung Electronics is poised and ready to unveil visionary, purposeful mobile technology for a better world. In a few weeks, we will unleash our latest and greatest Galaxy Z series to reshape the smartphone category and completely reimagine your experiences.

Life Opens Up With Galaxy

Today, the world needs flexible technologies that give people room to explore. At Samsung, people are at the heart of everything we do. We’re constantly listening to you to ensure that any new device and experience we create really brings meaningful innovations. We want to enrich everyone’s life, not just the lives of a select few. From epic cameras and vivid, immersive viewing experiences to long-lasting batteries and strong security, we’re focusing on what really matters to you.

As we explore new ways to empower you, we often venture into uncharted territory. That’s how we ended up creating a brand-new category with the launch of the Galaxy Fold. And we didn’t stop there. We kept improving the category with our second generation of foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold2 and the Galaxy Z Flip, with more screen and more of the features you now know and love. I’m excited to say our third generation of foldable devices will open up amazing new multitasking capabilities and enhanced durability for even more people around the world.

Samsung Is Bringing More People Into the Fold

This will be especially important as the world leap frogs into new frontiers of connectivity that demand open ecosystems and reliable mobile experiences. At Samsung, “open” and “secure” are never mutually exclusive. In fact, our collaborations with trusted industry leaders like Google and Microsoft are why we are able to deliver mobile technology that is secure and optimized for today’s rapidly evolving and interconnected world. We constantly work with key partners to create cutting-edge security solutions that keep your devices and data safe every step of the way. This allows us to give you even more control over your apps, data and privacy, so you can curate your own experience — with total peace of mind.

Collaboration enables us to build mobile experiences that make your life easier and better. It fueled the development of a new unified wearable platform, which we built jointly with Google. On top of your favorite Galaxy apps like Samsung Health and SmartThings, there will be so many others in the new Google Play Store. Furthermore, our One UI Watch user interface is deeply integrated with our other Galaxy devices and provides consistent connectivity between your Galaxy Watch and Galaxy smartphone.

We are also working with Google to enrich our foldable ecosystems with popular apps and services. For our third generation of Galaxy Z phones, we have lined up even more partner apps that make the most of the versatile fold-out format. From hands-free optimized video calling with Google Duo and watching videos in Flex mode on YouTube to multitasking in Microsoft Teams, our foldable ecosystem will offer a wealth of seamless and optimized experiences.

A New Chapter in Smartphone Innovation Is Here

The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold combines the very best that smartphones and tablets offer and delivers completely new ways of working, connecting and creating, while the upcoming Z Flip exhibits an even more refined style, armed with more durable, stronger materials. I firmly believe these devices will answer the call for the versatile mobile technology we need as we navigate the open road ahead.

We are out to set new heights and open up a whole new world of exciting experiences for even more people. I hope you’ll join us as we debut our next Galaxy Z family and share some foldable surprises — including the first-ever S Pen designed specifically for foldable phones. Instead of unveiling a new Galaxy Note this time around, we will further broaden beloved Note features to more Samsung Galaxy devices. In the meantime, mark your calendars and tune in to our Unpacked event on August 11 to see what unfolds.

Samsung Electronics today announced an agreement to collaborate with Microsoft on an end-to-end, cloud-based private 5G network solution. As a part of this collaboration, the two companies plan to advance the virtualization of 5G solutions, which will include the deployment of Samsung’s virtualized RAN, virtualized Core, and Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) technologies on Microsoft Azure.

A key goal of the collaboration is to drive innovation that lowers the barrier to entry for deployment of private 5G networks in enterprises—including retail stores, smart factories, and entertainment venues, such as stadiums. Through a cloud-based approach to the market, the companies aim to achieve greater cost efficiencies in 5G deployments.

Full Virtualization: The Key To Accelerating Private 5G Networks

The collaboration highlights key benefits of cloud networks, which can accelerate 5G expansion for enterprises, and help them deploy private 5G networks faster. Implementing fully-virtualized 5G solutions on a cloud platform also enables vast improvements in the scalability and flexibility of networks for mobile operators and enterprises.

“We’re excited to be working with Microsoft to help enterprises transform the way they operate through next-generation communications,” said Wonil Roh, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Product Strategy, Networks Business at Samsung Electronics. “Combining Samsung’s virtualized 5G solutions and Microsoft Azure cloud, we look forward to delivering a best-in-class 5G solution that advances opportunities in the private network sector. Through this collaboration, we will continue to push the boundaries of innovation in 5G and beyond.”

“Microsoft is pleased to work with Samsung to accelerate the deployment of 5G networks in enterprises. The combination of Microsoft Azure and Samsung’s virtualized 5G offerings will enable new solutions and lower the barriers to entry for private 5G networks for our mutual customers across retail, manufacturing, entertainment and many other industries,” said Yousef Khalidi, Corporate Vice President, Azure for Operators, Microsoft Corp.

Samsung is a pioneer in the successful delivery of 5G end-to-end solutions ranging from chipset, radio, and core network. The company has been supporting 5G commercial services in leading markets, including Korea and the U.S., where the majority of the worldwide 5G subscribers are currently located, and it is supporting the expansion of 5G in Japan. In addition, the company is rapidly expanding its global footprint to new markets including Canada and New Zealand.

At Samsung, we work to create meaningful innovation in the world, and business drives progress. We build advanced tools and technology solutions to guide digital transformation within companies, industries and the world. We’re able to do this because of our extensive suite of mobile devices and solutions and collaborative partnerships.

“In fact, we believe our open and collaborative approach will set new standards and accelerate innovations that prioritize productivity, security and mobility.” said Edward Choi, Corporate VP Global Strategic Alliances, Samsung Electronics. It is crucial to break down technology barriers, create opportunities and enhance mobility for the new mobile workforce.

This led us to create a streamlined mobile work experience through Samsung DeX, the ultimate mobile productivity solution ushering the future of work for business and consumers alike. Samsung DeX and our global partner networking are ushering a bold new future and enriching the enterprise ecosystem.

At the 2019 Samsung Developer Conference, we featured key partners who we’re working with to provide optimal productivity experience by unlocking new capabilities and use cases for our enterprise customers. With these partnerships, Samsung is leading a new era of connectivity and collaboration for businesses.

Microsoft

Microsoft and Samsung strive to provide professionals with leading technology to work from anywhere, and at any time, by integrating the best of the companies’ hardware, software, solutions and services. Together, Microsoft 365 on Windows Virtual Desktop and Samsung innovative mobile technologies enable users to have a great virtual desktop experience wherever they are.

Microsoft Windows Virtual Desktop and Samsung DeX enable a full screen Microsoft 365 experience from Samsung DeX-enabled mobile devices through Windows Virtual Desktop on an Android endpoint – enabling workers to be even more productive, no matter where they go.

Samsung DeX provides a desktop-like experience entirely powered by a Samsung Galaxy device1. Using a mobile device and connected screen, Samsung DeX allows users to seamlessly switch from one application to another. You can use Android applications on the mobile device while working on Windows apps delivered from Azure on a connected monitor.

Additionally, the new Galaxy Book was designed on the Microsoft Windows 10 platform with the mobile enterprise customer in mind.

“Samsung and Microsoft share a commitment to open collaboration and are continually looking for new ways to deliver the best productivity experiences across devices, applications and services,” said Rob Howard, Senior Director, Microsoft. “Samsung DeX and Microsoft Windows Virtual Desktop allow for innovative smartphone and PC capabilities and experiences across the Galaxy and Windows ecosystems, unlocking new scenarios for enterprises and end users.”

Cisco

Samsung and Cisco are working together to enable an intelligent and unified experience of Webex solutions across Samsung mobile devices.

This alliance was founded with the goal to make it easier for personal and business users to collaborate with each other. Together, Cisco and Samsung created the best Wi-Fi 6 experience. Through joint engineering efforts and field trials, we developed technology optimized for app developers and mobile users. Earlier this year, we launched the Samsung Galaxy S10 as the first Wi-Fi 6 enabled mobile device. Wi-Fi 6, the next -generation of Wi-Fi network technology, not only provides faster network speeds, its increased network capabilities combined with 5G will create a seamless and hyper-connected experience for the future of business.

Cisco Webex is leveraging Samsung DeX and our Wi-Fi 6 partnership to enable customers, whether they are on the go or in the office, to intelligently collaborate, all from within one single app.

“Our unified and integrated Webex Platform are making it easy for customers to collaborate, regardless of device or location,” said Abhay Kulkarni, VP and General Manager, Webex Meetings. “We’re excited to provide a secure, unified and cognitive experience across calling, messaging and meeting on Samsung mobile devices; enabling the best experiences for our joint customers across the globe.”

Thanks to our partnerships with Microsoft and Cisco, enterprises can create new and unexpected ways of working with Samsung. We’re excited about these and other exciting ways we’re shaping the future of work through collaboration and mobile innovations.

Samsung Electronics today announced the next step in its long-term, strategic partnership with Microsoft to bring seamless productivity experiences across devices, applications and services. Starting with exclusive Microsoft integrations in the new Galaxy Note10, users will now have a simple way to work fluidly between a smartphone and a PC, while the Galaxy Book S introduces an all new mobile computing experience with its uncompromised mobility and next-generation performance. Bringing the best of both Galaxy and Windows platforms, this partnership will continue to expand as Samsung and Microsoft leverage cloud computing and advanced intelligence to deliver rich, seamless mobile experiences to market in the 5G era.

“We believe the mobile industry is on the cusp of a transformation, one in which individual devices give way to seamless, connected and continuous experiences, wherever we go,” said DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics. “Open collaborations, like this industry-leading partnership with Microsoft, are instrumental in pioneering a new generation of mobile experiences. As new technologies like 5G become a reality, our partnership will play an important role in helping people live more fluid, flexible lives.”

“Microsoft and Samsung share a long history of innovation and collaboration, and today’s announcements mark the next stage in our partnership,” said Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft. “Our ambition is to help people be more productive on any device, anywhere – and the combination of our intelligent experiences with Samsung’s powerful, new devices makes this a reality.”

Introducing Seamless Productivity Across Devices

Consumers live and work across multiple devices, and the need for better and easier connectivity is clear. Today’s cross-device experience can be fragmented—users on a PC have to interrupt their flow to look over at their phone, open an app to then send images, videos or files to their PC. Instead, they want a world in which their content syncs automatically, so they can start a project in one place on one device, and pick it up on another, without distractions.

As mobile-first users make up a larger share of the workforce, the demand for more seamless connectivity will only increase. According to the analyst firm CCS Insight1, 42% of employees spend more than three hours a day working on a mobile device, which is even higher for millennial employees at 51%. This partnership enables users to now have a unified experience across multiple devices wherever they are.

Samsung and Microsoft are also bridging the gap between mobility and performance with the new Samsung Galaxy Book S, which offers an always-connected solution that brings the smartphone experience to a laptop. The Galaxy Book S has built-in LTE connectivity, a powerhouse battery life and an ultra-slim, lightweight design to usher in a new mobile computing experience.

Building on an Established, Successful Relationship

Samsung and Microsoft have had a long-standing partnership focused on making computing more productive and powerful. Starting with Galaxy Note10, Microsoft’s most popular productivity solutions for smartphones will be seamlessly integrated into Galaxy products and services:

Enhanced Outlook Experience: The preferred mobile email and calendar solution on more than 100 million devices, Outlook helps customers connect, organize and get things done. Outlook brings email, calendar2, contacts and files together, all in one app – helping you save time and focus on what matters. Galaxy Note10 features an optimized and integrated Outlook app, which enhances work and personal communications as well as time management. The enhanced S Pen with the Galaxy Note10 allows users to get short previews when hovering over emails, calendar events and contacts.

OneDrive Cloud Storage: Beginning this fall, Samsung Gallery offers the option to sync with Microsoft OneDrive services — so users can access their photos and videos from across their devices3, and don’t have to worry about whether they recently backed them up.

Seamlessly Flow Between PC and Mobile: Link to Windows is built into the Galaxy Note10’s Quick Panel, so it’s simple and convenient to send messages, manage notifications, sync photos and mirror your phone4 on users’ PCs5. This continuity of services will create a critical connection with any Windows 10 PC saving users the extra time and trouble of physically switching between their Galaxy Note106 and PC.

Industry-Leading Productivity for Business

With the Galaxy Note10, Samsung and Microsoft will also commit to empower businesses to be even more productive. This partnership will offer enterprise users improved remote access to their enterprise workspace, including the full suite of Office applications.

A Commitment to Ongoing Collaboration

Samsung believes an open and collaborative approach will set the new standard for meaningful innovations that prioritize quality, security and experience. This approach is crucial in breaking down technology barriers and creating opportunities for consumers. Samsung has consistently demonstrated this belief through a long history of open collaboration with other industry leaders. In the years to come, as cloud computing and advanced intelligence progress and network speeds rapidly increase, the partnership between Samsung and Microsoft will only become more important. Together, Samsung and Microsoft will pioneer new technologies and deliver the innovations that will transform the way users work.

Samsung Electronics and Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) have expanded their global partnership to bring Microsoft mobile productivity services to more consumers and business customers. Samsung is planning to pre-install Microsoft services and apps on its portfolio of Android devices and will deliver secure mobile productivity for businesses through a new Microsoft Office 365 and Samsung KNOX Business Pack.

Microsoft is committed to reinventing productivity in a mobile-first, cloud-first world. Expanding its cloud-based services to customers in new ways and across platforms and devices is a big part of executing this strategy.

For consumers, pre-installed services * include the following:

As disclosed at Mobile World Congress, Samsung will pre-install OneNote, OneDrive, and Skype on the new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.

In the first half of 2015, Samsung is planning to pre-install Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive, and Skype on select Samsung Android tablets

Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge will also come with 100GB of additional free cloud storage for two years through Microsoft OneDrive, allowing extra storage space.

Businesses that purchase devices through Samsung’s business-to-business sales channels will have access to three versions of Office 365 – Business, Business Premium, and Enterprise – coupled with Samsung’s KNOX security solution. The bundle also includes a setup service from Samsung to help businesses get up and running with products and provides ongoing support.

Microsoft Office 365, powered by the cloud, provides businesses with access to familiar Office applications, including email, calendar, video conferencing and up-to-date documents, all optimized for a seamless experience across any internet-connected device – from PCs to smartphones to tablets. Samsung KNOX provides a way for customers to easily switch between personal and business profiles on their devices, while helping keep them secure.

“Great things happen when you converge services and devices,” said Peggy Johnson, executive vice president of business development, Microsoft. “Our partnership with Samsung is emblematic of our efforts to bring the best of Microsoft’s productivity services to everyone, on every device – so people can be productive wherever, however and whenever they want.”

“Our goal is to meet the ever-evolving needs of both consumers and business customers and give them more power to discover new mobile experiences.” said SangChul Lee, executive vice president of the Strategic Marketing Office, IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics. “We believe our suite of premium mobile products coupled with Microsoft’s productivity services will offer users the mobility they need in both their personal and business life.”
