On March 4 in Barcelona, Samsung Electronics tuned out the noise of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 with a half-day, multi-sensory Sound Immersion event. The Sound Immersion event is an immersive meditation experience designed to awaken the five senses with Galaxy wearables. The invited guests, including journalists and content creators, were offered a restorative pause through guided meditations inspired by the Spanish way of living — delivered via the immersive audio of Galaxy Buds4 Pro and enhanced by real-time wellness insights from Galaxy Watch8.

▲ W Barcelona, venue of the Sound Immersion event

Sound Immersion and Real-Time Wellness With Galaxy Buds4 Pro and Galaxy Watch8

Dr. Julie Smith — a clinical psychologist, author and content creator — led a multi-sensory experience demonstrating how sound shapes mood, focus and emotional connection within the Galaxy ecosystem.

“The senses are more than tools for getting through everyday life — they are an abundant source of calm and clarity,” she said. During the Sound Immersion event we explored how gentle sensory input, combined with the latest cutting-edge technology, can help us feel more present in everyday life. Sound delivered through Galaxy Buds4 Pro, designed to create tailored, immersive sound experiences, can become a steady anchor for reset, balance and recovery.”

Samsung Electronics and Vodafone today announced that the companies have successfully completed the first call utilizing Samsung’s virtualized RAN (vRAN) solution and Intel1 Xeon 6 SoC (system-on-chip), marking a first milestone in Europe. This test of the latest chipset reinforces a shared commitment to advance next-generation autonomous networks, which are built on a software-driven, cloud-native and open network architecture, fully supporting AI.

The test call was made on the Intel Xeon 6 SoC optimized for vRAN software capable of supporting intensive workloads, AI applications and services across 2G, 4G and 5G networks on a single high-performance server. This streamlined configuration paves the way for Vodafone to manage fewer systems and less hardware that perform on par or better than traditional RAN baseband solutions, while reducing costs, energy consumption and providing a more flexible foundation to introduce AI throughout its network. This milestone was achieved in tandem with ecosystem partners, Dell Technologies (server) and Wind River (cloud platform) and will be commercially deployed during 2026.

The announcement builds on the selection of Samsung as a key strategic partner for Vodafone’s deployment of Open RAN at scale across Europe. Together, the companies deployed their first Open RAN test site in Germany last year and have been extending the technology to additional commercial sites. Later this year, the Hanseatic city of Wismar in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is set to become the first city in the Vodafone mobile network in Germany to be fully equipped with Open RAN. With network performance matching or exceeding that of traditional hardware-based solutions, Vodafone’s Open RAN deployment in Germany is on track to cover broader regions in the country in a phased approach, driven by the rapid integration of the latest processor advancements.

Samsung and Vodafone have continued to strengthen their network collaboration based on open architecture by integrating advanced processors and incorporating AI-powered automation into commercial networks. By fostering an open ecosystem, Open RAN accelerates the delivery of high-performance, energy-efficient connectivity while enabling Vodafone to rapidly introduce innovative services that seamlessly adapt to evolving customer demands.

“Vodafone is focused on delivering the best possible customer experience by building a future-ready network,” said Marco Zangani, Director of Network Strategy and Architecture, Vodafone. “The test conducted with Samsung, alongside our implementation of open network architecture, supports this strategy, enabling us to introduce new 5G-Advanced services while enhancing energy efficiency and streamlining operations through automation and AI from the cell site to the edge of the network and in the core.”

Samsung’s vRAN offers the flexibility to support the latest processing technologies as they come to market, ensuring operators remain ahead of the industry’s rapid innovation cycle. Operators can efficiently manage network resources and apply unused computing capacity to host and run AI and edge applications directly on their existing telco infrastructure, closer to where the data is generated and used. Such versatility enables seamless processing power management and enhances responsiveness, while also paving the way for next-generation customer experiences that range from emerging devices to more dynamic, latency-sensitive applications.

“This breakthrough with Vodafone shows how a software, cloud-native approach empowers networks to become more efficient, more adaptable and ready for what’s next,” said Everth Flores, Vice President and Head of Samsung Networks Europe. “By advancing toward more flexible networks, we are not only facilitating immediate AI adoption but also laying the essential groundwork for an AI-native, 6G-ready infrastructure. We are proud to continue our momentum with Vodafone, as we expand and modernize connectivity in markets across Europe.”

To efficiently manage software-driven networks at scale, Samsung and Vodafone are taking a more intelligent approach to automation, made possible by Samsung CognitiV Network Operations Suite (NOS). This AI-powered automation solution is the ideal fit for Vodafone’s large-scale Open RAN deployment and AI transformation across Europe, by enabling one-click network deployment and easier upgrades.

Samsung Networks has pioneered the successful delivery of 5G end-to-end solutions, including chipsets, radios and cores. Through ongoing research and development, Samsung is driving the industry to advance 5G networks and paving the way for 6G and beyond with its market-leading product portfolio, from purpose-built RAN, vRAN, Open RAN, AI-RAN and core to private network solutions and AI-powered automation tools and applications. The company currently provides innovative network solutions to mobile operators that deliver boundless connectivity to hundreds of millions of users worldwide.

Samsung Electronics today announced its strategy to transition all manufacturing operations into ‘AI-Driven Factories’ by 2030. This initiative aims to fully integrate AI across the entire manufacturing value chain — from inbound material logistics and production to quality inspection and final shipment — establishing a next-generation autonomous production environment.

As part of the transition, Samsung will implement digital twin-based simulations throughout its manufacturing processes and deploy specialized AI agents dedicated to quality control, production and logistics. By strengthening data-driven analysis and pre-validation through these agents, the company seeks to elevate quality standards, operational efficiency and productivity across its global manufacturing network.

Samsung will also expand AI integration into Environmental, Health and Safety operations. Through proactive detection and automated hazard prevention systems, the company intends to further enhance workplace safety standards across its production facilities worldwide.

At the center of this transformation is ‘Agentic AI’ — first introduced on the Galaxy S26 series — which is capable of autonomously planning, executing and optimizing decisions to achieve defined objectives. Building on its advanced AI capabilities developed in the mobile sector, Samsung is extending its expertise into manufacturing to create a robust foundation for on-site autonomy.

Through purpose-built AI agents, Samsung will optimize production workflows, predictive maintenance, repair operations and logistics coordination — enabling standardized, world-class excellence across every global site.

To accelerate the transition from automation to advanced autonomy, Samsung is progressively introducing humanoid and task-specialized robotics across its production lines, including Operating Robots for line operations and facility management, Logistics Robots for autonomous material handling and transport and Assembly Robots for precision manufacturing tasks. In infrastructure environments where human access is limited or hazardous, the company will further deploy digital twin-integrated Environmental Safety Robots designed to systematically monitor conditions, identify potential risks and proactively mitigate on-site hazards.

“The next phase of manufacturing innovation lies in building autonomous environments where AI truly understands operational contexts in real time and independently executes optimal decisions,” said YoungSoo Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Technology Research at Samsung Electronics. “We are committed to leading the transformation toward AI-powered global manufacturing innovation.”

Global Industry Engagement

Samsung will showcase its industrial AI strategy and digital twin-based manufacturing innovation vision at MWC 2026 in Barcelona, demonstrating how industrial AI enhances both safety and efficiency in real-world environments.

Additionally, at the Samsung Mobile Business Summit (SMBS) — which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year — the company will introduce its ‘governance strategy for expanding AI autonomy.’ This strategy consists of embedding safety mechanisms from the initial design stage, ensuring the responsible and trustworthy expansion of industrial AI for its customers and partners worldwide.

SMBS is a private, invitation-only event for key B2B customers and partners, where Samsung shares its B2B strategy and latest technology direction, while also exploring collaboration opportunities across industrial sectors.
