Samsung Electronics achieved television sales of more than $1 billion in October in North America, setting a new record for monthly sales in that market.

That sales record demonstrates how much Samsung has grown over the past 11 years. In September 2004, Samsung achieved $100 million in monthly sales for the first time. Then, in October 2007, it reached $500 million.

This growth comes as Samsung is enhancing its interactive experience marketing for customers. This year, Samsung expanded the Samsung Entertainment Experience areas into approximately 600 Best Buy stores, the world’s largest multi-channel consumer electronics retailer. These areas are specially designed to allow consumers to explore Samsung products, including SUHD TVs and Samsung audio systems.

[A Samsung Entertainment Experience area at a Best Buy store in the United States. Consumers can get a hands-on feel for the latest in Samsung TVs and audio systems.]

Samsung also installed a Brand Wall (a wall made of Samsung TV screens) in approximately 2,600 Walmart stores.

In addition, Samsung Electronics received two industry-leading customer satisfaction awards in the annual J.D. Power 2015 High-Definition Television (HDTV) Satisfaction Report. J.D. Power surveyed more than 3,750 consumers who purchased an HDTV in the past 12 months to arrive at these rankings. The study recognized Samsung as the highest-ranking company for customer satisfaction for two consecutive years in the categories of HDTVs 50 inches and above, and smaller than 50 inches.

Samsung’s entire line of SUHD TVs features High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology, which has been called the future of UHD TV. HDR increases the brightness range and improves contrast, so lights and shadows reproduced on the screen look more realistic. SUHD TVs also use Samsung’s revolutionary Nano Crystal Technology to create the most brilliant colors and details in the TV market.

“Samsung Electronics attaining over $1 billion in monthly sales in North America shows that the Samsung has now become the most trusted and representative TV brand,” said Yoon Lee, Senior Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.

According to the NPD Group, a global information company, Samsung accounted for 35.1 percent of TV sales in the United States and 38.4 percent of sales in Canada, making it the leading TV seller in North America.

For UHD TVs (with a resolution of 3,840 pixels by 2,160 pixels), Samsung accounted for more than half of all sales in the third quarter of 2015—52.1 percent of sales in the United States and 54.4 percent of sales in Canada.

Samsung Electronics employees across the U.S. and Canada were not at their desks, in meetings, or traveling for business on Friday, October 16. Instead, they were in soup kitchens, school gyms, gardens and dozens of other locations, working with more than 50 nonprofits to benefit local communities.

“It puts things into perspective… when you see how much fun and how much joy that a day like this brings to these special needs kids,” said Samsung employee Gregory Maugeri. Gregory, along with other Samsung colleagues, helped put on a play with Only Make Believe, a non-profit organization that aims to give joy and inspiration to sick children through interactive theater in hospitals and care facilities.

That joy was the resounding theme throughout Samsung’s third Day of Service. A total of 4,200 employees contributed nearly 17,000 hours of community service through events designed to uplift and enrich the communities where employees live and work. Samsung employees have also donated countless hours of community service through its Hope for Children initiatives. In addition, the company has donated more than $46 million over the years—underscoring its commitment to making the world a better place for future generations.

Samsung colleagues in Canada also went out into their local communities to lend a helping hand to those in need.

“We really appreciate the investment Samsung has given,” said Justin Cheung who helped Youth without Shelter in Ontario to renovate its multi-purpose room.

Investing in underserved communities and communities where Samsung does business is a core company value that Gregory Lee, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics North America, lives. He has participated in all three Days of Service over which the company has contributed nearly 45,000 service hours since October 2014.

“One thing is how much we give in terms of quantity,” said Lee, “but also it’s the quality of our giving and how deeply we’re engaged, how much we care. Those things make a big difference.”

Some of the differences Samsung makes on this day and throughout the year can be seen in the photos below. For video snapshots from the day, please click here.
