Exploring the Odyssey Universe, Discovering Industry-Leading Features

The first thing that gamers encounter in Odyssey Universe is a huge lobby. Five separate worlds are available from the lobby, each with a separate mission available. These worlds — Levels Ark, G9, G8, G7 and G6 — are inspired by and named after the Odyssey gaming lineup.

Let’s take a look at Level Ark. Level Ark offers a mission to escape from a maze by answering Odyssey-based questions. In order to unlock different pathways, players will have to use all the knowledge they have about Odyssey monitors.

Level G9 was inspired by the Odyssey Neo G9, an extremely large display that looks and feels like two monitors combined into one. In Level G9, gamers have to get a golf ball to land in the hole — which might sound easier than it is. An ultrawide 49-inch monitor like the Neo G9’s will help them smoothly complete the mission without too much stress.

Level G8 features a racing track with plenty of curves, representing the curvature of the Odyssey Neo G8 (1000R) and Odyssey OLED G8 (1800R). Racing along the track opens new views of a vast 360° universe for an overwhelmingly immersive experience. Level G8 will provide a challenge, since it has two objectives: a time trial race and counting the number of monitors that appear next to the track while players race by.

To highlight a refresh rate that is essential for gaming monitors, Level G7 was designed as a shooting range. Gamers need to hit all their targets in a limited time, made easier with a refresh rate of up to 240Hz available on the high-end Odyssey monitors.

Samsung Electronics has announced the release of the Odyssey Universe, a new customized map created for gamers to experience in Fortnite,¹ based on the premium Odyssey series of monitors from Samsung.

The Odyssey Universe is a new in-game experience expressing how the industry-leading Samsung Odyssey monitor lineup helps gamers deliver on the promise of next-generation games.

The Odyssey Universe features each space inspired by the main product name of the Odyssey lineup. The permanent new map is divided into 5 spaces, each of them inspired by and representing an industry-leading entry in the Odyssey monitor lineup. It ranges from the Level Ark, which is derived from the “Odyssey Ark” providing a new frontier of immersion with the 55-inch large screen, to Level G9∙G8∙G7∙G6 in line with products such as Odyssey Neo G9 and G8. Each space will have its own mission for players to clear, with a variety of objectives and rewards during gameplay.

Odyssey City: Enter a New Era of Immersive Gaming — From Odyssey Ark to Gaming Hub

The moment they entered the Samsung booth, visitors were faced with the next-generation gaming screen Odyssey Ark, unveiled for the first time in the European market. Visitors navigated the booth by moving from the Odyssey Ark Zone to the Experience Zone, then to the Gaming Hub Zone, and finally to the Tournament Zone to watch exciting live gaming.

The audience was fascinated by the impressive size of the Odyssey Ark, measuring 55-inches, equipped with 4K picture quality and a high refresh rate of 165Hz. One visitor to the booth said he liked “the size because he is into photography and videography. Also, for gaming, it feels like a space station.” Another visitor tested the game Valorant on the Odyssey Ark and said, “it’s really good if you want to play the game while streaming, chat with Twitch on top of it and play music.”

In addition to the Odyssey Ark, visitors marveled at the Odyssey G4 and the Odyssey Neo G8. One video game enthusiast reported that “the graphics are amazing” on the Odyssey Neo G8.

Another popular standout of Samsung Electronics’ booth was the Samsung Gaming Hub,¹ an all-in-one game streaming discovery platform. Putting Odyssey Citizens to the Test With a “This or That” Question Game and “Odyssey Lineup Quiz”

To get to know the gaming styles of Gamescom goers, Samsung asked a series of questions in a game of “This or That.” The questions prompted gamers to choose the first or second option for topics including “I play on PC vs. I play on console” and “game devices matter vs. game skills matter.” The most interesting finding from the game is that many gamers tend to multitask. In other words, they like to watch a video or listen to music while playing a game. This shows multitasking is emerging as a new trend as gamers play a variety of games at once or play a game while searching online for a walkthrough.

For a fun, interactive activity, Samsung engaged visitors in a quiz about the Odyssey lineup, giving prizes to those who guessed the most answers correctly. Questions included, “How many speakers and woofers are mounted on the Odyssey Ark?” Samsung knowledge pros won a prize for answering four speakers and two woofers.

Get in the Game: Competitive Tournaments, 5 vs. 5 Battles and Talk Shows

Daily gaming tournaments were held during the exhibition in the Tournament Zone, featuring the Odyssey G4. All three days, there was a long line of gamers waiting to experience the outstanding performance of the Odyssey G4 up close and personal, which received rave reviews from critics.

On the main stage, a five vs. five League of Legends (LoL) match was held with Odyssey Neo G8, where famous global game influencers and visitors participated. The 5v5 battle was broadcast in real time through large signage in the booth, and the audience joined in the fun by cheering on the gamers playing live.

Samsung’s Odyssey Neo G8 Offers Enhanced Convenience With Matte Display, Ergonomic Stand and More

When you first open the box, the assorted parts, including the monitor, stand neck, stand base and power cable are the first things you see.¹

Installing the monitor is very simple.² First, connect the stand base to the back of the product and fasten it with a screw. Then, connect the stand base to the stand neck and fasten the screw on the bottom. Then, put on the back cover and turn it clockwise. The monitor is now ready to be used.

Once assembled, the 32-inch curved shape of the monitor is eye-catching. The monitor has a 1000R curved VA panel, which is a curvature most similar to a human’s field of vision. This curvature intensifies immersion while gaming, making you feel as if you are really inside the world of the game.

The Odyssey Neo G8’s Matte Display was also verified as ‘Glare-Free’ by global safety certification company UL (Underwriters Laboratories), meaning its panel reduces light reflection. Samsung Electronics today announced new models in its monitor lineup that exemplify its leadership within the sector. The versatile new lineup delivers beautiful picture quality and intuitive features that give consumers more choice when selecting a monitor that fits their exact needs.

The 2022 monitor portfolio brings out the best experiences while working, gaming or watching content at home. Samsung’s latest monitors include features for high-performance gaming as well as smart and pro-level elements, such as the Odyssey’s Quantum Mini LED backlight panel and HDR 2000; the Smart Monitor’s do-it-all screen with smart features; and the High Resolution Monitor’s comfortable ergonomics.

Odyssey Neo G8

As the world’s first monitor to feature a 4K (3,840 x 2,160) 1000R curved screen with 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time (GtG), Odyssey Neo G8 32” (Model Name: G85NB) is set to open a new chapter in gaming monitor innovation, offering razor-sharp performance for even the most dedicated PC gamers. Its performance matches its stunning picture quality featuring Quantum Mini LEDs, Quantum HDR 2000 with a 2,000nit peak brightness and a million-to-one static contrast ratio, bringing out the most subtle details for increased world building and immersion.

The new Odyssey Neo G8 is built with a similar design language as the Odyssey Neo G9, offering a sleek white exterior that stands out even when it’s turned off. Beautiful colors leap off the screen into a user’s real environment with CoreSync lighting. The core lighting found on the backside of the monitor automatically detects colors on the screen and projects them in real life to create a deeper sense of immersion.

Smart Monitor M8

With an ultra-slim thickness of 11.4mm, which is about three-quarters thinner than the previous model, the 2022 Smart Monitor M8 32” (Model Name: M80B) provides space efficiency. Especially for those who value style, it features a sophisticated flat-back design with enhanced usability and comes in a new warm white color that fits perfectly everywhere. The brilliant UHD panel provides 99% sRGB color gamut while supporting 1.07 billion colors at 400nit brightness, showing every video, document or photo with true-to-life accuracy.

Smart TV and productivity apps are built directly into the monitor, enabling seamless entertainment and work while serving as a SmartThings control hub, even without the need of a PC. The 2022 Smart Monitor M8 32” is a great option for remote working. It comes with a movable magnetic SlimFit Cam that enables crystal-clear video calls when working from home. With a USB Type-C port enabling 65W charging connections, the Smart Monitor M8 provides a streamlined all-in-one workstation experience that doesn’t require an additional docking station.

High Resolution Monitor S8

The Samsung High Resolution Monitor S8 (Model Name: S80PB), available in 27” and 32” models, delivers professional-level UHD performance for creators and designers who need the highest levels of accuracy and range when working in the office or at home. Delivering up to 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, the S80PB provides an ultra-wide range of rich and nuanced colors. With Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) Display HDR 600,¹ this high-resolution monitor provides an immersive viewing experience, bringing content to life as it was intended. As the world’s first UL (Underwriter Laboratories) verified Glare Free monitor, Matte Display is applied on the top of the panel, reducing light reflection even when not using a monitor hood, to provide a distraction-free working environment.

Both models feature USB Type-C 90W charging and LAN ports to help users create a simplified workstation that can charge laptops and mobile devices with no additional docking station required.
