Imagine having less stress and more time. Picture getting the help you need before you have to ask. In the era of mobile AI, the freedom to focus on what matters most to you isn’t a dream, it’s reality — and it’s coming soon to Galaxy.

A few weeks ago, we launched the One UI 7 beta program. It marked the start of a new era with the first AI-integrated operating system, a true AI platform that vastly improves mobile experiences for users through unprecedented personalization.

Galaxy’s approach to AI personalization, from our launch of the first AI phone to our continuous innovation of on-device AI, is to never compromise on privacy. We know you want the benefits of mobile AI that truly understands you. You want a phone, tailored to your lifestyle, that adds to what you can do while removing everyday barriers — all with no risk of personal information being misused.

In anticipation of the next standard-setting Galaxy S series smartphones, we’re giving Galaxy users greater peace of mind alongside greater personalization. That’s why we’ve created the Personal Data Engine, a powerful privacy advancement that ensures on-device, cross-app personal data protection.

Personalized data is stored in a secure space, carefully safeguarded by an encryption key that’s managed by Knox Vault. That’s the same trusted platform used to secure the most sensitive information on your smartphone, such as your biometric data. And as an added layer of protection, post-quantum cryptography future-proofs the security of your data against rising quantum computing threats.

* Actual UX/UI may vary.

On this fortified foundation of privacy, we’re opening up more possibilities for mobile experiences tailored to your life, only with Galaxy.

One defining element of One UI 7 is Now Bar, which gives personalization a new meaning by seamlessly integrating your everyday actions and most-used apps into your lock screen. It’s where you’ll control your entertainment, time your next personal best workout, get directions to your next meeting or start communicating in other languages.

Now Bar will also be an access point for the most comprehensively insightful experiences ever on Galaxy. Now, your phone won’t just ping you, it will power your lifestyle.

Imagine you’re packing for a trip from Seoul, Korea, to San Jose, California. While you get ready, your phone offers a prompt to create a folder of your essential apps for quicker access. So you don’t miss your flight, it lets you know when it’s time to leave for the airport. It even provides a curated travel playlist to set the mood for your long flight.

With a single swipe, you can access the weather forecast — no need to search or check various apps. Throughout your trip, your phone captures the magic of each moment, and as each day winds down, it helps you relive the highlights.

Morning and night, Galaxy AI will keep you both informed and inspired with actionable tips and recommendations1 uniquely tailored to your life. Game-changing personalization with privacy you can always trust. This is the next evolution of Galaxy AI.

1 Some features may require Samsung Account login. Service availability may vary by country, language, device model, apps.

Samsung Electronics today announced the public release of the One UI 7 beta program, boasting powerful AI features, simplified controls and a preview of scalable AI ecosystems of the future. One UI 7 marks a significant leap forward by integrating leading AI agents and multimodal capabilities into every touch point of the interface, creating an AI platform where every interaction feels natural and intuitive. The beta program offers a first look at an upgraded mobile user experience for greater personalization than ever before.

Enhanced AI Enables More Intuitive User Experiences

One UI 7 brings powerful updates to Galaxy AI features1 including advanced writing assist tools. Integrated into AI OS, they allow users to boost their productivity where texts can be selected, without needing to switch between applications. This capability expands on the powerful writing assist tools already available to Galaxy users, offering AI-powered options to summarize content, check spelling and grammar, and automatically format notes into bullet points.

Upgraded call features with One UI 7 push the boundaries of communication and connection through call transcripts, with support for 20 languages.2 When call recording is enabled, recorded calls will automatically be transcribed for reference later on, eliminating the need to take notes manually while multi-tasking.

Bold New Design for Greater Personalization and Control

One UI 7’s powerful AI features come with a significant new look, based on a new notification system that streamlines communication with easy access from the device’s lock screen. It includes Now Bar, which highlights relevant activities across various features like Interpreter, Music, Recording, Stopwatch and more. By offering instant access to important notifications, Now Bar reduces the need to constantly unlock the device and allows users to engage with key information effortlessly. Set to be supported on upcoming Galaxy S series devices, Now Bar will transform the lock screen experience, which will continue to evolve with more intelligent experiences in the future.

These feature upgrades are all anchored in a simple, impactful and emotive design. Together, these principles shape streamlined and cohesive experiences for Galaxy users. Defined by bold, iconic design choices, One UI 7 reduces visual clutter and fosters an inviting experience designed to resonate with users on a personal level and enable intuitive mobile experiences across AI features.

A simplified home screen, redesigned One UI widgets and lock screen — among other features — work together to grant users granular control over every detail and make customization intuitive and seamless.

A redesigned camera UX allows more intuitive control over advanced settings. Camera buttons, controls and modes have been reorganized to make it easier to find the features you need and to give you a clearer preview of the picture you’re taking or the video you’re recording.

For Pro and Pro video modes, the manual settings layout has also been simplified, making it easier to focus on the picture or video you’re shooting. A new zoom control is available when you’re recording in Pro video mode, allowing you to control the zoom speed for smooth transitions.

The official One UI 7 release will commence with upcoming Galaxy S series devices, featuring additional AI capabilities including enhanced on-device AI functions, starting from the first quarter of 2025. In line with Samsung’s commitment to extend its OS upgrade policy, the update will gradually roll out to other Galaxy devices.

The One UI 7 beta program will be first available for Galaxy S24 series devices in Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the U.K. and the U.S., from December 5. Galaxy S24 series users can apply to join the beta program via Samsung Members.

1 Screen image simulated for illustrative purposes. Actual UX/UI may vary.
2 Supporting total of 29 languages including local dialects: Arabic, Chinese (China mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan), English (Australia, India, United Kingdom, United States), Dutch, French (Canada, France), German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil, Europe), Romanian, Russian, Spanish (Mexico, Spain, United States), Swedish, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese.

Samsung Electronics today announced the One UI 7 beta program,1 opening an advance look at fortified, Samsung Galaxy-exclusive security measures. At every layer, the latest One UI protects personal data while providing all types of users with choice, transparency and integrated security settings — because in the era of AI, there is no privacy without holistic security.

Knox Matrix Unlocks Ultimate Transparency

Knox Matrix is Samsung’s vision for the future, enhancing protection through multi-layered, intelligent threat monitoring between connected Samsung devices. One UI 7 sets the foundation for the next frontier of security.

Knox Matrix monitors devices through Trust Chain, a secure private blockchain — and the new Knox Matrix dashboard introduces an easier way to maintain transparent security across a connected device ecosystem. With One UI 7, it’s more intuitive than ever to check the security status of multiple Samsung smart devices, including Galaxy mobile devices, TVs and home appliances, at a glance. When all connected devices are up to date and no risks are detected, they will show as ‘green,’ or secure. Users can also see if a device is at risk, and the dashboard will prompt an actionable recommendation to mitigate the threat.

A new recovery method for Enhanced Data Protection adds ease and convenience to the process of retrieving data stored on Samsung Cloud. Enhanced Data Protection keeps connected devices synchronized and secure, also ensuring that if access to a trusted device is lost, users have a backup plan to prevent the loss of their data. With One UI 7, users can now transfer recovered, private data to a new device by verifying the lock screen factor — whether pin, pattern or password — of their previous device.

As part of Knox Matrix’s Credential Sync, Samsung has developed new ways to manage and secure identities and credentials for today’s hyperconnected world in the form of passkeys.2 With One UI 7, users can now create and use passkeys to log into their Samsung Account. As digital authentication credentials, passkeys enable a faster, easier way to securely log in to apps, devices and websites — so users can safely sign into their TVs, AI Family Hub refrigerator and more, simply by using the fingerprint sensor on their smartphones.

Maximum Restrictions Boost User Control

Maximum Restrictions establishes a powerful line of defense against today’s cyber threats. One UI 7 further enhances user choice with new features designed to protect those who may need additional safeguards. Maximum Restrictions has been updated with added controls for network connections so users can enjoy the peace of mind that comes from boosted protection without losing access to key device functionalities. Thanks to the added controls, users have the choice to block 2G service and prevent data from being intercepted when connected to potentially unsafe networks. Users can also prevent unintended automatic reconnection to certain Wi-Fi networks3 that may be less secure, ensuring data remains private while still having the option to connect manually if desired.

This update enhances Maximum Restrictions’ existing suite of protections for Samsung Messages and Samsung Gallery, which allows users to remove location data in shared photos, prevent automatic attachment downloads and block hyperlinks, previews and shared albums.

More Security Settings Bring Added Device Protection

One UI 7 introduces even more ways users can adjust security settings to best suit the ways in which they use their device. Users can choose to block USB connections to prevent any other access through the USB port while the device is locked, except for battery charging.

To protect against malicious apps that come from sideloading, One UI 7’s new Safe Install system works alongside Auto Blocker to send a warning when a user attempts to download from an unauthorized source, alerting them of security risks and preventing unintentional sideloading on Galaxy devices worldwide.4

Theft Protection Enhances Data Privacy

One UI 7 introduces new features available only on Galaxy devices to the Android suite of theft protection solutions, enhancing the safeguards in place to ensure personal data remains secure even when devices are lost or stolen. In addition to Theft Detection Lock,5 Offline Device Lock and Remote Lock, Galaxy users can now leverage additional security measures in Identity Check, an opt-in feature designed for when a device’s PIN becomes compromised. If suspicious activity is detected, users can rest assured that these Galaxy-exclusive protections will kick in.

When in an unfamiliar location, biometric authentication will be required to make any changes to important security settings that could put personal information at risk.

As an added safeguard, a one-hour security delay will prevent unauthorized users from making any immediate changes to the device.

One UI 7 is the next step in Samsung’s commitment to privacy on AI, introducing advanced security features to ensure complete protection in the era of AI. The official One UI 7 release will commence with upcoming Galaxy S series devices, featuring additional AI capabilities including enhanced, hardware-dependent on-device AI functions, starting from the first quarter of 2025.

1 Availability, features and specifications provided in this article are subject to change and may vary by market and/or model. Screen image simulated for illustrative purposes. Actual UX/UI may vary.
2 Timing of availability may vary by region, network provider and/or model.
3 Maximum Restrictions prevents automatic, unintended reconnection to less secure networks, which may include Open, Opportunistic Wireless Encryption (OWE) or Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP). This protects users from device traffic that may be interrupted.

Samsung Electronics today kicked off its One UI 5 open beta program which will initially be available on the Galaxy S22 series (Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra) in the United States, Germany and South Korea, with releases in other regions planned over the coming months. One UI 5 brings a range of new customization, security and accessibility features as part of Samsung’s ongoing commitment to delivering the latest mobile experiences to as many users as possible.

“We know our users crave the ability to create their own individual mobile experience and we’re constantly looking to improve One UI to give people greater control and more options,” says Janghyun Yoon, Executive Vice President and Head of Software Platform Team of Mobile eXperience (MX) Business, Samsung Electronics. “We’re excited to offer early access to all the new customizable features that come with One UI 5 as part of an open beta and look forward to incorporating user feedback to develop a better and more meaningful experience for everyone.”

Tailored Look and Feel

The One UI 5 update introduces new ways for users to customize their smartphone experience, including an expanded set of color options for a more tailored look. Users now get up to 16 preset color themes based on their wallpaper and 12 more color options for their home screens, icons and quick panels for a look and feel suited to their style.

Users can further customize their home screens by stacking widgets of the same size on a single location,1 saving space and creating a cleaner, more organized look.

One UI 5 also brings a simpler way to tailor notifications across applications to help stay focused on what is important. New controls make it easier for users to block notifications from certain apps, so they only see what is relevant to them.

Enhanced Language and Sound Settings

One UI 5 streamlines the process to change sound and vibration settings with reorganized menus that provide easy access to all ringtone volumes and vibration intensities. For the first time, Galaxy users can also tailor their preferred language for their different apps.2 Whether they’re multi-lingual or just learning a new language, users can easily select which language will be used for each app in Settings.

More New Features

The update brings several other new features that create an even better Galaxy experience for everyone — from enhanced camera capabilities and security resources to more accessibility tools.

Users can more seamlessly capture high-quality photos and video with a new icon in Pro and Pro Video mode that offers useful tips and tricks on how to use the various lenses, features and controls. Plus, a more responsive zoom bar means quicker close-ups and makes it easier to zero in on the subject using only one hand.

With One UI 5, a new dashboard lets users view the security status of their phone, shows whether there are security issues and recommends ways to fix them.

The update also brings more accessibility options to make it easier for users to interact with their devices. The Magnifier feature enables users to better view and read on their devices, while different types of spoken assistance — such as audio descriptions of videos and speak keyboard input aloud — help users navigate and use devices more seamlessly.

And that’s not all. Other exciting new features will be introduced throughout the Beta program to give you the best experience possible. Stay tuned!

1 Applies to widgets that are minimum 2 x 1.

Samsung Electronics today announced the launch of its One UI 4 Beta Program for Samsung Galaxy S21 smartphones (Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra). One UI 4 is based on Android 12 operating system (OS) and introduces new and improved customization and privacy capabilities that give users control over many aspects of their mobile experience.

“One UI 4 helps users create their own, optimized mobile experience because Samsung recognizes that, everyone wants to meet their unique needs and preferences,” said Dr. TM Roh, President and Head of Samsung Electronics’ Mobile Communications Business. “As we’ve done with every iteration of our One UI, we’ve listened to our users to understand the tools and innovations needed to create a better, more reliable, and enhanced overall user experience.”

One UI 4 Beta Launch

The One UI 4 Beta Program allows users to try out One UI 4’s upgraded features ahead of its official release. Samsung Galaxy S21 series1 owners in select markets2 can register for the beta program via the Samsung Members app on their devices. Participants will be able to preview the One UI 4 design and new features3 and submit feedbacks. Samsung will use the information gathered from the beta program to fine-tune the One UI 4 user experience before delivering a final, optimized upgrade later this year.

Delightful Experiences, Designed by You

Samsung’s One UI user interface brings a unified mobile experience to Galaxy smartphones through simplified and streamlined interactions and a clean and elegant design.

One UI 4 beta participants will be able to experience comprehensive customization capabilities and privacy controls that empower them to design their ideal mobile experience — one that’s uniquely suited to their individual needs and allows them to express who they are.

The Look You Want

With One UI 4, users get customization options at every turn. A wealth of theme options let the users adjust the look and functionality of their device, giving them tools to configure their home screens, icons, notifications, wallpapers and much more. Plus, redesigned, upgraded widgets offer deep customization — from visibility to appearance. Users also get convenient access to a more robust and diverse array of emojis all in one place, so they can effortlessly navigate their options to enjoy richer communication experiences.

Empowering Privacy Options, Total Protection

The new One UI 4 also brings enhanced privacy and protection functions that make it easier for users to understand exactly how their data are being used to customize their settings and deliver a more personalized mobile experience. Indicators alert users to app camera and microphone usage, so they can instantly disable permissions if they don’t want to grant access. One UI 4 also expands on Android 12’s permission options, allowing users to view their permissions history from the last seven days, not just the last 24 hours. They can also check the current data usage of both their permissions and their apps.

1 The users of Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra can participate in the beta program.

2 The Beta Program will be available in China, India, Germany, Poland, South Korea, UK, and US. The release date can vary by each market.

Both of Samsung Electronics’ latest foldable smartphones, Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip3 5G, come with One UI 3.1.1, the most intuitive UI for foldables to date. Designed to take advantage of the devices’ large screen real estate and unique form factors, the new UI helps make the devices easier to use.

Starting from August 31,1 One UI 3.1.1 will also be made available on Galaxy Z Fold2 5G, Galaxy Z Flip 5G and Galaxy Z Flip. Samsung’s Galaxy Fold, launched in 2019, will also receive the update around a week later. Read on to learn more about One UI 3.1.1 and the new experiences it is set to bring to foldable users.

Drag & Split

Want to compare prices while shopping online? With Drag & Split, you no longer need to open up a new tab and switch back and forth constantly between windows. The feature lets you simply drag the link you want to check to the edge of your screen and open it in a new window to be viewed simultaneously.

Drag & Split works with many of your favorite apps, including Samsung Internet, Samsung Notes, My Files, Messages, MS Office, OneNote, OneDrive and more

Step-by-step guide: Press down on the link you want to open > Drag the link to wherever you want to on the edge of your screen to open a new window.

* Feature is available on devices Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Fold2, Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Z Flip3 and Galaxy Z Flip.

Multi-Active Window and Natural Window Switching

Multi-Active Window lets you use up to three apps simultaneously on your screen, all arranged in your preferred layout. In One UI 3.1.1, you can also adjust both the height and the width of the app windows to suit your needs.

For apps without built-in support: Go to Settings > Click Advanced Features > Go to Labs > Click on Multi Window for all apps

When it comes to changing the layout of your apps to your preferred style, Natural Switching makes transitions more responsive and intuitive. With One UI 3.1.1, the window you want to move will pop up when you press down on the top handle, making it easier for you to drag and drop the app to your desired location.

* Feature is available on devices Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Fold2 and Galaxy Fold.

Rotate All Apps

One of the best advantages the unique form factor of a foldable smartphone offers is the detailed experiences it provides users whether they are viewing an app in portrait or landscape orientation. Understanding that there’s nothing more frustrating than when a certain app is only available in portrait mode, Samsung has fine-tuned the latest One UI upgrade to make switching your phone from portrait to landscape smoother than ever.

With the new Rotate All Apps feature, your apps will smoothly transition to the proper UX to match the portrait or landscape aspect ratio. When the feature is toggled on in ‘Labs’, even vertically fixed apps can be rotated 90 degrees.

Step-by-step guide: Go to Settings > Click Advanced Features > Go to Labs > Click on Auto rotate apps > Choose between two options: Keep app’s orientation or Match phone’s orientation

* Feature is available on Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Fold2 and Galaxy Fold.

Set Aspect Ratio for Apps

With customizable aspect ratios, you can maximize the benefits of your foldable smartphone’s Infinity Flex Display. Say you are scrolling through your friends’ latest social media posts and want to view them in full screen, without the black bars on either side, only to find that the size of the app is fixed. One UI 3.1.1 now lets you change the size of the app so that you can fully immerse yourself in their photos and videos. To get the most out of Samsung’s expansive foldable displays, simply enable this feature in ‘Labs’.

Step-by-step guide: Go to Labs > Click on Customized App Aspect Ratios > Click on apps to customize aspect ratios > Select one of four options: Full screen, 16:9, 4:3, and App default2

* Feature is available on Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Fold2 and Galaxy Fold.

App Split View

When used with Messages, App Split View will show your message list on the left of the screen and your selected conversation on the right, allowing you to take in more information at a glance. A button at the top of the conversation can be clicked to expand it into full screen mode.

For apps that do not come with built-in App Split View support, you can enable the function by turning it on in ‘Labs’. Turning the feature on for a shopping app, for example, will allow you to view the product list on the left and the product details on the right.

Step-by-step guide: Go to Labs > Click on App split view > Select apps for App split view3
</sup>

* Feature is available on Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Fold2 and Galaxy Fold.

Flex Mode Panel

With the One UI 3.1.1 update, Flex mode, one of Samsung’s signature foldable features, just got more powerful.

For apps that don’t typically support Flex mode, you can now enable the feature by turning on Flex mode panel in ‘Labs’. With the new Flex mode panel, you can enjoy easier control of media while relaxing with your favorite TV shows at the end of a long day.

Step-by-step guide: Go to Labs > Select Multi window for all apps “On” > Click on Flex mode panel > Select apps for Flex mode panel4

* Feature is available on Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Fold2, Galaxy Z Flip3 and Galaxy Z Flip.

Pin Your Favorite Apps With Taskbar

When using your device to get work done on the go, Samsung understands that the fewer the clicks and taps it takes to complete a task, the better.

Designed to help you work more efficiently, Taskbar makes it possible for you to switch between apps without returning to the home screen or scrolling through the Recent tab. Taskbar pins the apps to the side of the Main Screen, where Edge Panel used to be located, giving you instant access to your favorite apps. Simply enable the feature in ‘Labs’ to make your workflow smoother.

Step-by-step guide: Go to Labs > Select “on” next to Pin your favorite apps > Swipe left on the handle to open up the tray > Tap the grid icon to see all your apps and edit > Tap Pin and the Taskbar will be pinned to the side of the screen

* Feature is available on Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Fold2 and Galaxy Fold.

Cover Screen Mirroring

One UI 3.1.1. makes transitions between the Cover and Main Screen even more seamless and intuitive. Cover Screen Mirroring lets you have the exact same set up and layout of the home screen on both your Cover and Main Screen.

Step-by-step guide: Go to Settings > Select Home screen > Click on Cover Screen mirroring

* Feature is available on Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Fold2.

Join the Beta Program and enjoy the new One UI with Android 10 features before its official release. Be one of the first to enjoy the new features and design, send us your feedback to help us create an exceptional experience.1

Designed to simplify and streamline interactions, One UI has brought a unified mobile experience to Galaxy devices. Since its launch, Samsung has been refining the UX, while also expanding its capabilities to help users focus on the tasks that matter. Features are further enhanced to make the experience more natural, seamless and efficient. Below are a few key features of One UI and Android 10 we are excited for users to test on the Galaxy S10.

Focusing on What Matters

The clean and easy-to-use interface allows users to enjoy minimized pop-ups, embedded loading indicators and simplified button arrangements. The new One UI features a streamlined design where notifications take up less space, so users are kept up-to-date while being able to focus on the task at hand. You stay focused while enjoying your favorite content in full screen and never miss any essential information.

Caller notification and volume bar are minimized.

Making the Mobile Experience Visibly Comfortable

The new, smarter layout provides a visually comfortable experience. An enhanced Dark mode helps users at night by intelligently adjusting the brightness of images, texts and colors on the display while reducing battery consumption.

Smart Lock screen automatically adjusts the color and format of the clock and notifications to ensure you can always see the text and icons clearly.

Updated One UI (R) expands Dark mode to home screen.

Keeping Digital Wellness in Check

The expanded One UI provides a wide range of tools to help you manage your digital wellness. Focus mode lets you pause apps temporarily for times when you need to minimize distractions and get in the zone. By tracking usage, managing screen time or enabling Focus mode to minimize distractions, users can ensure they are being efficient.

Maintaining the performance of your smartphone is easier with the intuitive Device care menu, which gives you quicker access to the essential functions. Some individual features are also enhanced to give you more control, such as keeping or deleting duplicate photos.
