When you first open the box, the assorted parts, including the monitor, stand neck, stand base and power cable are the first things you see.¹

Installing the monitor is very simple.² First, connect the stand base to the back of the product and fasten it with a screw. Then, connect the stand base to the stand neck and fasten the screw on the bottom. Then, put on the back cover and turn it clockwise. The monitor is now ready to be used.

Once assembled, the 32-inch curved shape of the monitor is eye-catching. The monitor has a 1000R curved VA panel, which is a curvature most similar to a human’s field of vision. This curvature intensifies immersion while gaming, making you feel as if you are really inside the world of the game.

The Odyssey Neo G8’s Matte Display was also verified as ‘Glare-Free’ by global safety certification company UL (Underwriters Laboratories), meaning its panel reduces light reflection. The display absorbs surrounding light so the user can enjoy an immersive gaming experience without being hindered by external elements, such as sunlight from windows.

Consoles and other gaming accessories can also be easily connected to the monitor. When the Odyssey Neo G8 is turned on, its Auto Source Switch+ feature automatically detects other devices and switches the screen to the source of those devices.

The Odyssey Neo G8 boasts a fast response time of 1ms (0.001 second) (GtG),³ giving users a more vivid gaming experience when playing games that require fast response times. Games such as first-person shooters (FPS) and racing games change screens rapidly, and lag or slow response times could affect the outcome of the game. Luckily, the Odyssey Neo G8 keeps up with the pace and gives gamers the best chance to win the game.

Refresh rate, which measures how many times per second the display is able to show a new image, is also very important to gamers. The Odyssey Neo G8’s refresh rate of 240Hz provides a stable and smooth viewing experience.

The monitor also comes with Low Input Lag to enhance response time. Input Lag is an indicator that measures how long it takes for input from a keyboard or mouse to be shown on screen. Specifically, it provides 4,096 steps for screen brightness adjustments and supports a high static contrast ratio of a million-to-one. Furthermore, the local dimming zone displays the color black more precisely. By capturing the reflected light of an enemy’s movement, the user can easily discover where the enemy is hiding and also notice the details hidden behind the shadows.

Superior Backlighting That Changes According to the Display Color

The lighting on the back of the monitor makes your gaming experience feel more futuristic. The Odyssey Neo G8 comes with the CoreSync lighting feature, in which the monitor automatically detects the color at the center of the display and syncs it to the color of the lighting on the back of the monitor. Evolution of Neo QLED With Neo Quantum Processor and Dynamic Sound Experience

Thanks to the Neo Quantum Processor and the advancements in picture technology and sound it delivers, 2022 Neo QLED will provide some of the most pristine images and immersive soundscapes possible. In fact, this year’s Neo Quantum Processor introduces advanced contrast mapping with BLU (back-light unit), increasing the brightness level from 12 to 14-bit gradation for greater control of the light source – the Quantum Mini LEDs. This allows the TV to control its lighting across 16,384 steps, quadrupled from the previous 4,096 steps.

The new Shape Adaptive Light technology leverages the Neo Quantum Processor to analyze lines, shapes and surfaces to control the shape of light from the Quantum Mini LEDs, enhancing the brightness and accuracy of all shapes on the screen. The result is outstanding image quality that puts full HDR content on display. Samsung’s 2022 Neo QLED also features Real Depth Enhancer, a multi-intelligence picture quality algorithm. This technological advancement creates a greater sense of realism by determining and processing an object on the screen against its background to create a sense of depth.

Additionally, Samsung’s 2022 Neo QLED features EyeComfort mode, which automatically adjusts the screen’s brightness and tone based on a built-in light sensor and sunset/sunrise information. As the ambient light changes, the screen will gradually reduce the amount of light and offer warmer tones, adjusting the blue light levels accordingly. This allows for a more comfortable viewing experience at night by reducing the blue light which may affect one’s sleep quality.

Neo QLED’s sound features are getting a major upgrade as well. Building on OTS (Object Tracking Sound), which directs the sound to move across the room along with the object on-screen, the 2022 products will feature OTS Pro, which incorporates powerful up-firing speakers to create overhead surround sound. 2022 Neo QLED also delivers a truly remarkable Dolby Atmos experience thanks to the addition of Samsung’s new top channel speakers. With multi-channel speakers placed throughout the TV, Neo QLED delivers a dynamic sound experience that tracks the actions from all corners.

Award-Winning Lifestyle TVs With Seamless Integration of Design and Technology

Samsung’s 2022 Lifestyle screens seamlessly blend design and technology for a unique and personalized experience. The New Smart Hub and Apps for the Ultimate User Experience

Samsung’s 2022 Smart TVs come with a new Smart Hub that puts content curation and discovery front and center with their viewing preferences. The new Smart Hub will guide users to their favorite content or help them discover something new all while spending less time searching. The Smart Hub’s sidebar also allows for a seamless transition between categories – Media, Game (Gaming Hub) and Ambient – letting users focus on various in-home activities.

• Gaming Hub: The Samsung Gaming Hub will empower players to discover and jump into the games they love faster through game streaming services. Players will have access to an extensive library of games through Samsung’s partnerships with industry leaders – NVIDIA GeForce Now, Stadia and Utomik – and that’s just the beginning.
• Watch Together: The new app allows users to video chat with friends and family while watching their favorite shows and movies, guaranteed to bring everyone closer together.
• NFT Platform: This application features an intuitive, integrated platform for discovering, purchasing and trading digital artwork through MICRO LED, Neo QLED and The Frame.
• Smart Calibration: This feature allows users to fine tune the settings for optimal picture quality. Basic mode features a quick and easy way of calibrating the screens within 30 seconds, while Professional mode optimizes the screens for pristine picture quality in about 10 minutes.

Expanded Accessory Options Personalized to Users’ Needs and Tastes

The 2022 models also come with expanded accessories to personalize the user experience. The Auto Rotating Wall Mount and Stand inherits the vertical viewing experience from The Sero, allowing users to enjoy mobile viewing by automatically rotating their screens.¹

To complement the accessory, the 2022 products will support a vertical interface, including the Smart Hub, and offer a vertical Multi View feature. Samsung Electronics’ proprietary micro-layer technology expresses images more vividly and accurately. 3. Enjoy the Classics Upscaled to High Resolution With the Neo Quantum Processor

When watching classic movies, you may often find that the picture quality is poorer compared to the movies produced today, and may also have found yourself wishing that the picture and resolution were better. The Samsung Neo QLED 8K is capable of upscaling the picture quality of a movie, even older ones, to a higher resolution thanks to its Quantum Mini LEDs, Quantum Matrix Technology and its Neo Quantum Processor, which is armed with powerful AI upscaling technologies.

Based on an artificial neural network, the Neo Quantum Processor’s deep learning imitates the learning mechanism of humans to train its AI. The Neo QLED 8K’s Neo Quantum Processor now uses 16 multi-neural networks, whereas conventional technologies only use a single neural network. Each of the 16 networks divides up the content based on the input resolution and picture quality and then accurately analyzes all kinds of factors including edge handling, details and noise level. This then allows the processor to enhance a movie’s picture clarity without stalling, even for movies made in lower resolutions.

Samsung Newsroom unboxed and reviewed the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 to get a better sense of how the monitor is enriching gaming experiences.

Easy Installation With a Sturdy Stand and Expanded Connectivity

After you open the package and remove each of the components, it becomes clear just how easy it is to install the Odyssey Neo G9. In addition to the 123.8cm-wide, 32:9 ultra-widescreen monitor with its circular core that glows during gameplay, the package contains a sturdy stand that provides a solid base and cables that facilitate easy connection to a variety of external devices.

For quick and simple installation, first screw the stand into the center back of the monitor while it is still in its packaging. Then, attach the core lighting component that is divided into two halves by joining them at the joint and twisting them in. The stand is easy to assemble and disassemble due to its cradle form, while the height, tilt and rotation of the monitor can be adjusted to ensure an optimal gameplay position.

These days, users game on desktops, laptops, and consoles. To ensure that all these types of gamers are taken into consideration, the Odyssey Neo G9 features a range of different ports to facilitate connection to a host of devices. With two HDMI 2.1 ports, along with DisplayPort 1.4 and USB 3.0 ports on the back of the monitor, users can connect a range of different devices to their monitor and game on the big screen. Another strength of the Odyssey Neo G9 is its ‘Auto Source Switch+’ feature, which allows the monitor to switch input sources automatically when another device is connected.

Quantum Matrix and Quantum HDR 2000: The Secrets to Detailed, Lifelike Resolution

The 1000R curvature of the Odyssey Neo G9 is close to the visual field of humans, allowing the display to completely fill the user’s peripheral vision. What’s more, the monitor’s dual QHD display and 5,120×1,440 resolution enable detailed images to fill the user’s visual field, drawing them more deeply into the scenes being displayed.

The secret to the Odyssey Neo G9’s outstanding resolution is Quantum Matrix technology. With the introduction of finer light sources, the number of local dimming zones in the screen has been increased to 2,048. What’s more, the monitor’s contrast can now be adjusted to a much finer degree, with 4,096 different contrast levels available to help bring out the unique characteristics of both bright and dark tones.

HDR technology, which expands the brightest and darkest points of the brightness spectrum, has been recognized as the next-generation standard for displaying images. With its Quantum HDR 2000 technology, the Odyssey Neo G9 can vividly reproduce scenes with sharp differences in brightness, like those featuring explosions. This technology enables brightness of up to 2,000 nits, which is two times greater than that of existing monitors such as the previous Odyssey G9 model.

The static contrast ratio of the Odyssey Neo G9 is 1,000,000:1, which means its high performance stands out even more when it displays images with sharp differences in brightness. By expressing dark colors more deeply and bright ones more brightly, the monitor is able to establish dimensional contrast.

Taking Every Experience to New Heights of Immersion With Core Sync

Another advantage of the Odyssey Neo G9 series is the way the monitor’s aesthetics allow users to create their own special gaming atmosphere. Just like the previous model, the Odyssey G9, the Odyssey Neo G9 comes with core lighting on the back of the monitor, which further establishes a captivating gaming environment.

The monitor’s Infinity Lighting, which emits a blue light when the monitor is turned on, has evolved in the Odyssey Neo G9 thanks to the new ‘Core Sync’ feature. Core Sync automatically analyzes the color at the center of the screen and radiates lighting of the same color from the back of the screen. This feature can be turned on by navigating to the ‘Infinity Core Lighting’ menu in the monitor settings and enabling ‘Lighting’ and ‘Core Sync.’ Thus, whether the gamer is exploring deep waters or a dark forest, the Odyssey Neo G9 deepens their immersion by providing ambient light of a similar hue to blur the boundaries between the game and reality.

The monitor’s Infinity Core Lighting includes a number of other dynamic features too. From ‘Lighting Effect’, which sets the lighting to a single color, to ‘Rainbow’, which makes the core switch colors at intervals, this feature allows gamers to enhance their experience however they see fit.

High Refresh Rate for Smooth Gameplay and Minimal Input Lag

While having fast reactions is crucially important while gaming, reacting quickly proves useless when the commands entered aren’t reflected instantaneously in the game. The Odyssey Neo G9 is equipped with a number of useful features to help ensure that the ability to react quickly will put users on the road to victory.

The time it takes for a signal that is entered using a mouse or a keyboard to be reflected on the screen is called input lag. With its ‘Low Input Lag’ feature, the Odyssey Neo G9 shortens the time it takes for commands to be processed and delivers smooth gameplay. The addition of the ‘AMD FreeSync Premium Pro’ and ‘NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible’ features have also allowed the GPU and panel to be synced up in the Odyssey Neo G9. The time it takes for a video signal sent from the graphics card to reach the display is called response time. The response time of the Odyssey Neo G9 is 1ms,¹ which means it can display signals sent from the graphics card in just 0.001 seconds. This allows gamers to enjoy clear visuals free of stuttering and choppiness. The monitor’s 1ms response time comes in especially handy when playing FPS or racing games that require swift camera movements.

The Odyssey Neo G9 utilizes the same Mini LED technology built into Samsung’s latest Neo QLED lineup. This next-generation display technology is enabled by a new light source, Quantum Mini LED. At 1/40 the height of a conventional LED,¹ the Quantum Mini LED has incredibly thin micro layers filled with many more LEDs.

Additionally, Quantum Matrix Technology, which harnesses enhanced 12-bit gradation for greater control of the light source – the Quantum Mini LEDs makes dark areas darker and bright areas brighter with 2,048 dimming zones, ensuring viewers enjoy the content as it is meant to be seen. Based on the high performance technology pioneered by the current Odyssey G9, the Odyssey Neo G9 features an ultra-wide 49-inch display with a 32:9 aspect ratio that offers Dual Quad High-Definition (DQHD; 5,120×1,440 resolution) with a rapid, 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time.** The futuristic and immersive 1000R curvature of the monitor was certified by TÜV Rheinland, a leading international certification organization, awarding it their Eye Comfort certificate.

The secret behind the miniature size of Quantum Mini LEDs is Samsung’s proprietary micro layer technology that mounts micro layers inside the LED itself, as opposed to conventional technologies that pack layers on top of the LED, in order to eliminate unnatural noise among the LED elements and ensure deeper blacks can be displayed without blooming.

4,096 Levels of Lighting Control for Greater Bright-to-Dark Contrast – Quantum Matrix Technology

The 2021 Neo QLED lineup also incorporates Samsung’s proprietary Quantum Matrix Technology, which harnesses enhanced 12-bit gradation for greater control of the light source – the Quantum Mini LEDs. This allows the TV to control its lighting across an astounding 4,096 levels, four times greater than conventional 10-bit displays.³ This also creates even more possibilities to deliver the ultimate in contrast ratio management and deeper shades of black.

Advanced Upscaling Divided Into 16 Artificial Neural Networks – Neo Quantum Processor
