Culver Post was created thanks to the visionary collaboration between renowned Los Angeles sound studio 424 Post and global post-production leader Harbor. This full-service post-production studio is expected to bring unmatched HDR and SDR mastering capabilities.

The Culver Post offers five stages for theatrical color grading and sound mixing, with the first stage outfitted with Samsung’s cutting-edge 34-foot, 8K IWA LED cinema display and the second stage with the DCI-certified 4K Onyx LED display. Each stage is complemented by Meyer Sound Ultra Reflex cinema sound systems featuring Dolby Atmos sound. Samsung Electronics, a world leader in advanced digital component solutions, today introduced the LM301B EVO, a new mid-power LED package that has been designed to set the pace in light efficacy and color quality for indoor and industrial applications.

Global regulations and standards for lighting, once centered on light efficacy, are becoming more comprehensive to include strict criteria for energy efficiency and color quality. The European Union’s energy labels for light sources (Energy-related Products Directive; ErP) have been revised to become more stringent, and the Design Lights Consortium (DLC) — a non-profit organization for lighting standards in the U.S. and Canada — has added an index for color quality while requiring the same high efficacy level.

The LM301B EVO helps to meet the rigorous lighting standards on both energy efficiency and color quality. Built upon Samsung’s proprietary flip-chip design, the LED package features the industry’s highest efficacy of 235 lumens per watt (lm/W), by applying a new reflective material inside the packaging mold and improving phosphor conversion efficiency. Samsung also fine-tuned the red spectrum in the LED’s phosphor mix to enable superior color quality, especially with the red hues which are usually more difficult to render accurately.

“Our new LM301B EVO offers an unrivaled mix of light efficacy and color rendering that aligns nicely with the changing landscape of LED lighting standards,” said Un Soo Kim, senior vice president of the LED Business Team at Samsung Electronics. “Samsung will continue to provide value-added LED light sources through technological innovation, as we push hard to exceed energy standards across the globe.”

When using the package, luminaire manufacturers can create lamps that qualify for the ErP Directive’s Grade A certification and meet the DLC’s latest V5.1 Premium requirements while achieving industry-leading efficacy.

Based on the industry-standard 3030 platform, the LM301B EVO can be easily integrated into existing and newly designed fixtures for general and premium luminaires.

The LM301B EVO is now in production and available in color temperatures ranging from 2,700K to 6,500K. To facilitate adoption into existing markets, the package will also be available in two lighting modules — the Q-series EVO optimized for indoor lighting at offices and schools, and the H inFlux EVO for high–ceiling applications including factories and warehouses.

Samsung Electronics, a world leader in advanced components, announced that LM561B+, the company’s new mid-power LED package line-up with high light efficacy, is now offered with 3-step MacAdam ellipse bins and quarter bins across the range of all CCTs (from 2700K to 6500K), for use in premium luminaires. By leveraging the chromaticity control standard with the LM561B+, manufacturers will be able to make lighting products that deliver greater uniformity and consistency in light color without any visible difference in the color output between packages.

“To date, we have achieved outstanding performance in all of our mid-power LED packages,” said Jaewook Kwon, vice president, Lighting Marketing Group, LED Business Team, Samsung Electronics. “By now offering premium light quality to a greater number of customers with our LM561B+ LED package, we are able to provide superior performance on a much wider scale.”

Since 2013, Samsung has been introducing high-performance mid-power LED packages such as the LM561 series for indoor lighting applications including LED Lamps, L-Tubes, ambient lighting and downlights. Its latest LM561 LED packages – the LM561B+ and LM561C – provide 190lm/W and 200lm/W of light efficacy respectively, an industry-leading performance level. Later this year, Samsung will also extend its offering of 3-step MacAdam ellipse bins and quarter bins for the LM561C across all CCT levels.

In addition, for its high color rendering LM561B+ packages with over 90 CRI, Samsung plans to apply advanced phosphor control technology, which will lead to approximately 15 percent higher flux performance.

In supporting its LED lighting component customers more efficiently, Samsung is also strengthening its product certification program around the globe. Through cooperative relationships with recognized certification companies in the U.S., Korean, European and Chinese markets, Samsung is working to help minimize any difficulties that customers could encounter due to varying certification requirements for lighting quality, safety and power efficiency.
