Star magician Dynamo has released a series of seven incredible new illusions for a new campaign in which he promises to help people add a bit of magic to their selfies, by revealing the secrets behind each picture for the very first time.

From floating above the London skyline using an umbrella to shrinking yourself to the size of a pint glass to jumping crowds of people on a pedal bike – the series of clever illusions plays with perspective and perception to create a stunning series of shots which the magician insists anyone can achieve.

The S7 Everyday Illusions project uses a mixture of “forced perspective” techniques, combined with everyday items and a handful of simple, easily-made props to create the series of mind-boggling shots.

The pictures were designed by the illusionist to showcase the astonishing camera capabilities of the new Samsung Galaxy S7 which launches on Friday this week. Each of the images were designed by Dynamo on – and shot using – the phone, and the accompanying video provides a step-by-step guide to achieving similar effects at home.

ILLUSION 1 – GODZILLA – Dynamo appears to tower over a London traffic scene. We created a miniaturised London road with some props to create a forced perspective illusion that really makes you look twice

ILLUSION 2 – THE PUB CHAIR – This illusion uses a simple chair prop. The seat of the chair is actually a separate component which is put further back in the shot which when lined up makes whoever is sitting on it look tiny

ILLUSION 3 – WALL OF WATER – I wanted to try a really cool shot using water, and just by flipping the orientation of the image, I was able to create this incredible image of me walking out of a wall of water.

ILLUSION 4 – THE MATRIX – Creating the illusion that you are standing on a ledge is all about finding the right location, in this case, a concrete bench. The paper aeroplane really adds to the shot casting shadows and confusing the orientation. This shot was caught by using the super-fast focus on the S7 to capture the plane in flight

ILLUSION 5 – BMX JUMP – When I was younger I used to be into BMXing. I’d try loads of crazy scores but I wasn’t that good at it. But using some very clever camera work, you can actually become the ultimate extreme sports star – all you need is your imagination a birds-eye view

ILLUSION 6 – BOOTS – this is by far the easiest illusion of the set but it’s still brilliantly effective and very easy to create, shooting from a low angle and positioning the boots to line with your feet – simple!

ILLUSION 7 – MARY POPPINS – This shot showcases the super-fast shutter speed of the S7 – if you haven’t guessed already this involves a trampoline a decent stretch of sky and trying to look like you are walking rather than jumping! Having a ‘burst mode’ on your camera phone really helps as one out of 10 shots will achieve the right effect

Dynamo, who has captivated millions with his incredible feats on TV series Magician Impossible and is currently on a sell-out arena tour of the UK, said:

“Ever since I was a child, I have been interested in looking at the world in different ways. I have always been fascinated by the fact that a simple twist on perspective can completely affect our perception of an image. I wanted to play with this concept for the Everyday Illusions pictures.

“They say magicians should never give away their secrets – but for one time only, I wanted to create a series of illusions that anyone can create and show you exactly how to do it.

“The pictures highlight the incredible resolution and focus of the new Samsung Galaxy S7 phone. The Images are forced perspective alongside a few simple props to create mind boggling illusions which I believe anyone can achievewith a little time and imagination.”

Conor Pierce, Vice President of IT & Mobile, Samsung UK & Ireland, commented;

“We challenged Dynamo to create some photographic magic which would show off the Samsung Galaxy S7’s advanced camera functionality and we have been delighted with the results. The pictures and accompanying behind the scenes video for the Everyday Illusions project were all shot using our new S7 phone and clearly showcases the incredible new features including our the improved low light camera, super-fast shutter speed and even quicker auto focus – essential for capturing incredible images like these ones.

We want to empower consumers with technology to help them get more out of life and will continue to push the frontier of what’s possible, I believe Dynamo has taken that ethos and run with it for this unique series of shots which show the brightest, sharpest of images are now within anyone’s reach.”

BONUS: STAGE FACE – Dynamo shot a final ‘Bonus’ illusion he has called ‘Stage Face’ – onstage during his tour at the Liverpool Echo Arena

Dynamo – who has just announced three record-breaking dates at London’s 02 Arena – will be working with Samsung to stage a series of secret “pop-up” style magic performances to mark the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S7 over the coming weeks.

As the technology of smart devices continues to evolve at a rapid pace, one conclusion is clear. Not all smart devices are created equal. While more and more devices can do more and more things, there are some things that only Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge can do. Here are few of the features you won’t find on any other device.

1. Multi-Tasking with the Multi Window

Smartphones are now vital to every part of our lives, from business to pleasure and from productivity to entertainment. With the fast pace of life and expectations of immediate response, being able to quickly maneuver between applications is non-negotiable.

Galaxy devices take multi-tasking to the next level by allowing you to view multiple windows simultaneously. This feature has been really popular for the Galaxy Note series, and has been available ever since the release of Galaxy S3. How many times have you gotten an invitation and needed to check your availability? You have to close the message, open your calendar, close your calendar, open your messages, back and forth. Now, you can view your messages and calendar at the same time on your Galaxy device.

2. Selfie Sensor and Selfie Cam

Double click the home button to access the camera from any screen. The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge can launch the camera in under a second. Not only do the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge offer wide selfies, you can use the sensor on the back of the devices to snap your pic at the perfect angle. No more fumbling around with your device, trying to get the right angle while reaching for the shutter button.

The dual camera mode, which is one many free modes you can easily download, lets you take a photo using both front and back cameras at the same time. This is great for sharing moments with friends and family, as you can take a selfie while taking a photo of a beautiful background.

3. Power Saving Mode & Ultra-Power Saving Mode

The faster our devices perform, the more battery life (or lack thereof) becomes a critical issue and a major source of anxiety for some. Watching the battery percentage tick down has become a daily habit.

While the Galaxy S6 comes with a 2,550mAh battery, everyone finds themselves in a situation when saving every percentage point is crucial. With Power Saving Mode and Ultra-Power Saving Mode on Galaxy S6, you can extend your battery life easily. Power Saving Mode limits CPU performance, reduces screen brightness and goes into sleep mode faster after receiving notifications. Ultra-Power Saving Mode applies grayscale to the home screen and limits the number of usable apps to reduce power consumption to the bare minimum.

4. Wireless Charging & Fast Charging

While these features are available on other Galaxy devices, the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge have revolutionized fast charging technology. With built-in wireless charging, there is no need to purchase additional attachments or gadgets to use the wireless charging pad. The fast charging technology of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge charges from 0 to 100 in only about 80 minutes. They also charge up to four hours of use after only ten minutes of charging. Say goodbye to charger anxiety.

5. Samsung Pay

While other mobile payment services use near field communication (NFC) and fingerprint authentication, the benefits are limited to the vendors that install the required equipment to receive such payments. Samsung Pay supports both NFC and magnetic secure transmission (MST), allowing customers to pay at any PoS terminal. Backed by KNOX security, users can be confident that their personal information is safe.

6. True Privacy

Other devices allow you to hide your private photos, but they remain visible in the list of albums. Private Mode is available on many Samsung devices, including the Galaxy S6. This can be activated or deactivated in Quick Settings. When you turn on the Private Mode, you can create a private folder under My Files, and you will find that your private albums are hidden activated.

The photos saved in Private Mode are stored separately from those in normal mode with stronger security. Fingerprint identification is required to access information moved to Private Mode so you can be sure that your sensitive information will always be protected.

7. S Health

S Health is an all-in-one companion for your healthy lifestyle. With the new S Health, you can track your everyday activities, get coaching to reach your daily goals and improve your fitness with various training programs. Measure and understand your health with trackers such as heart rate and SpO₂, using built-in sensors in Samsung Galaxy and Gear devices.

8. Palm Swipe Screenshot

Easily take a screenshot by swiping your palm across the screen. No other device uses motion recognition to activate screenshot capture. This means you can easily capture information you want to access later or send to a contact with just a single gesture.

Lastly, there is one additional feature that Galaxy devices do better than any other device, Ultimate Customization. Samsung Galaxy devices let you make your device truly yours. The home screens of Galaxy devices are fully customizable. You can move icons to any area of the screen, or use widgets like the minimal clock, allowing you to see your beautiful wallpaper.

With the introduction of themes on Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, Samsung took customization to the next level. Within each theme, users can further change the font style of the dialer numbers and the clock.

Samsung continues to think about what matters to users and how its products and services can make daily life easier for people around the world. With just a few, but huge innovations, the Galaxy series is taking smart devices to the next level.

The word “selfie” is said to have first appeared on an Australian internet forum in 2002. About a decade later, this term entered the worldwide vernacular. In November 2013, selfie received accolades as Word of the Year by the Oxford English Dictionary. According to the dictionary’s editors, the usage of the term selfie increased by 17,000% in just one year. The selfie stick even made Time Magazine’s Best 25 Inventions of the Year in 2014.

Now with over 1 million selfies uploaded on social media networks every day, from mirror selfies to front-facing camera selfies, from wide-angle selfies to selfie stick group photos, the end of the selfie revolution is nowhere in sight.

What the selfie really did was empower individuals to take their own photos. It brought the end of taking turns with friends when taking group pictures or having to ask strangers to take a souvenir shot, only to get the camera back with blurry photos and closed eyes. The smartphone, with its front-facing camera, is the key enabler, allowing users to see what the camera sees as they snap a photo.

#GalaxyS6edge #selfie

The popularity of the selfie has created demand for mobile phones that take better pictures than ever before, and innovations in technology mean the self-portrait is evolving. It’s no surprise that Samsung placed a heavy emphasis on cameras when designing the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge. Samsung made sure that the front-facing camera was built to take the best selfie possible.

One major improvement to the Galaxy S6’s front camera is the 1/4.1-inch CMOS image sensor, which is 1.4 times larger than its predecessor and offers maximum image quality. This 5MP camera also makes it possible to take wide-angle images with an enhanced beauty mode. Users can access the camera almost instantly (in just 0.7 seconds) by double clicking the home button at any time.

Leading Innovation

Fueled by the selfie craze, the Galaxy S6 continues to drive Samsung’s industry-leading camera innovation. Both cameras are equipped with f/1.9 lenses, a significant improvement to the previous Galaxy. Because the aperture is 60 percent wider than the S5, it can take in more light and provide more information for the camera’s image sensor, resulting in much clearer pictures, especially in low light.

Paired with video digital image stabilization (VDIS) in the front camera, which significantly reduces camera shake, the f/1.9 lens can take a clear selfie video even in a dark room.

Samsung is further boosting image quality with real time HDR capabilities on both cameras. And Palm Selfie mode automatically detects the palm of your hand, then activates a two second timer so you can be sure to strike the perfect pose.

Camera Perfection

The image quality of the rear camera is equally stunning and can even compete with professional cameras. Powered by a range of state-of-the-art technologies, the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge rear cameras include a 16MP sensor, an f/1.9 lens, real-time HDR and an optical image stabilization (OIS) system.

The 0.3-second autofocus (AF) system, which grabbed a lot of attention when it was introduced with the Galaxy S5, makes it possible for anybody to focus the camera quickly on a static or moving subject. The S6 is taking this even further with tracking autofocus, a smartphone first. Never miss a moment, even when life is moving fast. Snap once-in-a-lifetime images every day.

These innovations are the result of years of research by a development team totally focused on giving smartphone users the best possible camera experience. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are perfect choices for selfie lovers around the world.
