One UI 5.1.1 helps Galaxy Z Flip4 and Z Fold4 users enjoy their favorite media and content easier than ever with Flex Mode,2 thanks to a range of enhanced features and functionalities.

Enjoy a more personalized Flex Mode Panel experience by simply dragging and dropping the icon on the toolbar.
Two-handed drag and drop4 is now supported on your foldable and tablet’s main screen, allowing you to open your desired app with one hand and then use the other to drag a file, app icon or other item into your target folder or location. This update makes it even quicker to seamlessly share multiple photos from your Gallery with a friend via a messaging app.

Samsung Electronics today announced One UI 5.1, which was newly unveiled with the Galaxy S23 series at Galaxy Unpacked 2023, will begin to roll out worldwide for other Galaxy devices starting with the Galaxy S22 series,1 Z Fold4, Z Flip4, S21 series2 and S20 series.3 With One UI 5.1, Galaxy devices will deliver a more visually appealing interface with new features that enable greater creativity and personalization for a more convenient experience overall.

“One UI 5.1 is the up-to-date example of Samsung’s commitment to providing Galaxy users with the latest innovations as soon as possible,” said Janghyun Yoon, EVP and Senior Executive, Software Office. “Over the past several weeks, we have worked closely with our service providers and carrier partners to bring One UI 5.1 to current Galaxy smartphones and tablets around the world within a few short weeks of the Galaxy S23 series announcement.”

Professional-Quality Camera and More Engaging Gallery

One UI 5.1 expands upon the recently upgraded camera features announced with the Galaxy S23 series. Galaxy users now have greater flexibility to create professional quality photos with Expert RAW4 features now available directly as part of the Galaxy Camera app. Simply select “More” while taking a photo to capture high-quality shots in their raw format. Additionally, enhanced AI-based Photo Remaster automatically improves deteriorated details of images by improving brightness, fine-tuning details and making color corrections even in backlit scenes. It also removes unwanted shadows and reflections for a picture-perfect photo.5

New navigation improvements also make it easier than ever to find photos within the Gallery app and create shared family albums.6 Simply tap a person’s face in a photo to conduct a search for more images while the Gallery app searches for faces of loved ones to recommend for family photo albums.

A Unique Mobile Experience Personalized for Every User

Samsung has long been focused on giving Galaxy users greater control over their devices by customizing various user interface aspects. One UI 5.1 delivers several exciting new features that allow people to fine-tune nearly every aspect of the mobile experience — from appearance, to communications, actions and more. Samsung introduced new features that can understand how devices are used and make recommendations accordingly. For example, the new dynamic weather widget analyzes current conditions and creates a custom design that reflects the climate. Modes and Routines have expanded to enable custom wallpapers, ringtones, touch sensitivity and fonts that can personalize specific activities for even more convenience. The update will extend to even more Galaxy devices, including the S20 series,2 Z Fold,3 Z Flip,4 Note series,5 S10 series,6 A series and Tab S series.

Read on to learn more about One UI 4.1 and some of the new features Galaxy users can enjoy.

Collaborate and Connect From Anywhere With Google Duo Live Sharing

No matter where you are in the world, you can stay connected with the Google Duo7 app on your Galaxy device. With Google Duo live sharing feature, you can share your screen with friends to view photos in Gallery together and relive your cherished memories, even when you’re far apart.8 You can also share your browser screen and collaborate on Samsung Notes while you’re on a video call — great for planning a trip with your friends or for taking productive notes during that important meeting.9

Make Every Photo a Masterpiece With Expert RAW

Galaxy S21 Ultra and S22 series10 users who want to make the most of their smartphone camera can now transform images into magazine-worthy masterpieces with the Expert RAW photo editing app. This DSLR-like experience means you can edit both photos and videos with total precision, satisfying your eye for detail using a comprehensive suite of in-camera editing tools. Plus, the app allows you to save files in both JPG and DNG format, so you can truly edit like a pro. Expert RAW gives you complete creative freedom, from brightening or darkening photos with ISO controls to choosing between multiple lenses to capture any subject or scene.

Reclaim Control of Your Images With Object Eraser

Sometimes, a great photo can be ruined by background objects, people, shadows or reflections, but you might not realize until after the picture is taken. With the more enhanced Object eraser, you can now easily remove not only distracting objects in the background, but also shadows thrown on the subject or even reflections on the windows. Simply tap the ‘Erase shadows’ or ‘Erase reflections’ button when you want to remove them from a photo, and Object eraser will handle the rest.11

Streamline Your Photo Sharing

We know Galaxy users love to share their content as much as they love to create it. That’s why the latest update brings users a more simplified and streamlined photo sharing experience. By automatically optimizing your photos — whether it’s cropping out unwanted sections of screenshots or automatically adjusting the tilt — you can ensure that whatever you send is exactly what you intended. Simply select an image to share and an icon will alert you if your device detects potential improvements. Click on the icon and watch as the image is automatically adjusted, rotated or cropped before it’s shared.

As part of the update, users can also enjoy Quick Share, a feature that allows you to instantly send multiple photos, videos and files at once. Just click the ‘Share’ button and select the desired recipient to transfer anything with ease.

Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7+ are versatile tablets designed to provide users with seamless and connected device experiences for work as well as for play.

Following a range of ecosystem-empowering updates that came to Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ last month, several new exciting updates are set to provide users with even more enjoyable S Pen and Galaxy Buds Pro experiences.

Do More With Your S Pen

As part of a software update coming in Q1 2021,1 you will be able to enjoy more continuous experiences with your S Pen. Text box areas conventionally serviced with keyboards – such as address boxes – will now be able to be filled in using your S Pen.2 This means that anything you write in them will instantly be converted into digital text, including punctuation marks – you need to simply draw a ‘v’ between words to leave a space and draw ‘⌒’ to connect separate words.

For more natural note-taking experiences in Samsung Notes, a new pen type is also coming as part of this upcoming software update. Once selected,3 the ‘Pen to text’ option lets you jot down your handwritten notes and will instantly convert them into digital text.

Available in over 80 languages4 and able to detect any punctuation and spacing, the ‘Pen to text’ option removes any need for you to put down your S Pen when using Samsung Notes and provides you with more typing tool choices.

Simply Snap, Scan, and Edit With Samsung Notes

Those who use their Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ to scan documents will appreciate being able to scan documents using the Camera app on their devices. As part of the latest update, this tool just got much easier to access for those looking to scan and edit a document in Samsung Notes. Simply tap the ‘Attach’ icon in the app, scan your document, and get to work making notes directly on the scanned document.

Enjoy Multi-dimensional Sound With 360 Audio

These days we are all finding ourselves spending more time than ever before enjoying videos and other multimedia content at home on our personal devices. Introduced alongside the Galaxy Buds Pro,5 the 360 Audio feature lets you enjoy 360-degree surround sound when watching a video on your Galaxy Tab S7 or S7+. The intelligent motion-tracking sensor will pinpoint the direction of your media’s sound as you enjoy content on your Tab S7 or S7+. In sync with your head movements, the sound volumes of the earbuds will adjust to provide you with a powerful, immersive audio experience.

*The scenario shown above has been simulated for the purpose of this video.

1 The new ‘S Pen to text’ feature will be available from late February through a software update with rollout starting in select markets. Feature availability may vary by device model.

2 This feature is available across select Samsung native and partner apps.

3 Users can enable the ‘Pen to text’ feature either by going to Settings > Advanced Feature > S Pen > S Pen to text, or to Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings > S Pen to text.

4 The ‘Pen to text’ feature supports all languages supported by Samsung Keyboard.

5 The 360 Audio feature is available on Galaxy smartphones and tablets running One UI 3.1 or above.
The Samsung Gear S2 blends style and substance to create a wearable that is at once distinctive and practical. First launched in 2015, the smartwatch is continuously evolving. As it does so, it has also incorporated several enhanced functions from Samsung’s latest smartwatches, reflecting the company’s unwavering commitment to refining the user experience of wearables. The Gear S2 will now become better than ever thanks to a new software update.

Let’s take a look at the features of the new update that will make the Gear S2 more convenient and even easier to use.

Clearer User Interface

At first sight, the user experience has undergone several noticeable changes. The update optimizes the icons and widgets for the Gear S series’ hallmark circular display. The new look of the user experience enhances the unified appearance of each screen, enabling the content to be viewed more easily.

(Left) App Shortcuts widget (Center and Right) Swipe down to view Quick Panel

Design is not only about form, so the device’s functions have also been carefully considered to increase usability. The new App Shortcuts widget now automatically places your most recent apps, but you can still manually select your favorites. Additionally, the Gear S2’s Quick Panel for fast settings such as display brightness, volume and airplane mode can now be viewed by swiping down from all screens – not just the watch face.

Personalized Training On Your Wrist

(Left) Samsung Health widget (Center) Multi-workout widget (Right) Inactivity Alert

Samsung’s Gear Fit2 allows users to ‘sweat smarter’ by accurately tracking a wide range of exercises and providing insights to help you take charge of your fitness. The GPS sports band’s latest software update strengthens its heart-rate and exercise-tracking abilities and adds new ways for users to maximize their training.

The Gear Fit2’s update makes tracking fitness progress more intuitive and effective. Once a user completes an exercise with their Gear Fit2, for instance, listed among their post-workout stats will be a color-coded graph displaying time spent in various heart-rate zones. Broken down by level of exertion – ‘Moderate’, ‘Vigorous’ and ‘Maximum’ – the chart takes the user’s maximum heart rate into account to provide a simple rundown of the exercise’s efficiency.

Automatic activity detection has also been enhanced. Whenever a user exercises for more than ten minutes, the Gear Fit2 automatically activates its fitness-tracking functions. With the new update, the map displayed after a user completes an auto-tracked workout will also inform them of their approximate location.

To help users get in the zone during runs, the update also incorporates support for customizable pace targets. Simply input your desired distance and time via the Samsung Health smartphone app to build a workout tailored help you reach your running goals. Users may choose between runs designed to help burn fat or increase cardiovascular endurance, and select an intensity level that works for them. After establishing a target, the device will guide users through each stage of their exercise.

The update also lets users customize the information that’s displayed during workouts. The device offers a clear view of an array of useful workout data, including distance traveled, calories burned, the duration of an exercise, and the user’s heart rate. To adjust the data that’s prominently displayed, simply swipe across the Gear Fit2’s screen. A simple tap on the bottom of the screen will be displayed there additionally.

For users who need a little nudge now and then to get on their feet, 50 minutes of inactivity will prompt the Gear Fit2’s enhanced inactive alerts screen, which provides walkthroughs of simple stretches that can help you get back on track.

Of course, getting the most out of a workout requires getting a good night’s rest afterward, which is why the comprehensive Sleep Record notification offers users deeper insight into their personal sleep patterns.

Included with the evening’s sleep total is a simple multicolored graph that breaks down ‘Restless’, ‘Light’ and ‘Motionless’ sleep and informs you of how much time you spent in each zone. Users have the option to view their sleep data directly on their device, or via the Samsung Health app on their smartphone.

Other notable additions include the ability to send quick SOS alerts with your location by triple pressing the Gear Fit2’s Home key, and browse and download watch faces directly to the device, as well as via the Samsung Gear app.

You can download the Gear Fit2’s latest software update via Samsung Gear app.

The Gear Fit2 GPS sports band’s latest software update is packed with key enhancements that bring new levels of precision and convenience to the fitness-tracking experience. Users will be notified of the FOTA (firmware over-the-air) update in their smartphone’s Quick Panel as it becomes available in their region, and will be able to install it on their device via the Samsung Gear app beginning on November 23.

‘Auto Pause’ Exercise

With the Gear Fit2’s new Auto Pause feature, the device will recognize when a user who is engaging in a cardiovascular activity such as running or cycling suddenly stops—say, for a traffic light, or simply to take a break—and will pause its fitness-tracking functions accordingly.

As the Gear Fit2 recognizes exercise status automatically, users are not required to interact with the device in order to pause or resume their workout. Rather, as soon as the user resumes the exercise, the Gear Fit2 will register the change and pick up tracking functions right where he or she left off.

Automated Dynamic Workout Tracking

The update also expands the number of exercises the Gear Fit2 is capable of automatically registering. Already recognized repetitive-motion exercises such as running, walking and elliptical and rowing sessions are now joined by a diverse range of fun, high-intensity activities such as basketball, table tennis, badminton, dancing and soccer.

The Gear Fit2 tracks these activities with its motion sensor, and whenever a user engages in one for more than 10 minutes, it logs the session as a “Dynamic Workout”. The device is capable of recording several other common and engaging fitness activities as well, providing users with more freedom—and motivation—to optimize their exercise in the manner they prefer.

Streamlined Sets for Indoor Activities

Because every step, set and rep counts when pursuing one’s fitness goals, the Gear Fit2’s new Set feature streamlines the management of repetition-based exercises such as crunches, lunges, squats and star jumps—an activity for which support was added with the update—to help users train more effectively.

Users can input their desired number of repetitions and sets per exercise and the Gear Fit2 will start tallying their progress as soon as they begin. Moreover, because getting adequate rest between sets is key for efficient training, the device will display appropriate break intervals between sets to help users catch their breath and maximize their effort.
