During this congress, Samsung will be showcasing the clinical values and efficiencies of the Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based diagnostic solutions through various scientific programs.

Samsung’s symposium will be held on September 18^th at 12:35 p.m. This event will also run online under the theme of “Samsung’s Advanced AI and Remote Diagnosis Solutions.” Prof. Julien Stirnemann (Necker Hospital, France) will deliver research results on the clinical values of two AI diagnostic solutions: BiometryAssist which measures the growth and condition of a fetus and HeartAssist which improves workflow when diagnosing a fetal heart.

Professor Antonia Testa (Scientific Director of the Center for Ultrasound in Gynecological Oncology “Class Ultrasound” of the Agostino Gemelli University Hospital, Rome, Italy) will be demonstrating her experience with SonoSync, a real-time ultrasound image-sharing solution during Samsung’s Symposium. She will be presenting the simplicity and benefits of image sharing as a second opinion by remotely accessing a HERA W10 system at Gemelli Hospital, Rome from the ISUOG venue in London.

“This will be a live demonstration of a patient scan, voice communication with a sonographer, and remote measurements executed in London. This advancement in ultrasound environment using SonoSync brings telesonography into reality,” said Professor Antonia Testa. “I believe Samsung’s forward-thinking technologies and advanced developments in ultrasound in recent years are quite impressive.”

In addition, Samsung will be hosting four onsite Hospitality Suite programs with lectures and live demonstrations for customers to experience high performance diagnostic solutions such as MV-Flow which is used to visualize the slow flow of microvascular structures and the existence of micro-blood-flow.

Samsung will also showcase its premium ultrasound system for obstetrics and gynecology known as HERA W10 and V8 which systems includes Intelligent Assist (AI diagnostic solutions), as well as V7, high-end ultrasound systems that can be used in various medical specialties and also with premium AI diagnostic solutions.

As far as the name, the “V” in “V7” stands for “Versatile,” meaning that this system can be used in various medical fields such as obstetrics, gynecology, radiology, orthopedics, cardiology and more. The V7 hosts features and solutions seen on premium ultrasound systems.

Samsung showcases premium new ultrasound systems ‘HERA W10’ and ‘HERA I10’ at ISUOG World Congress 2018

HERA is a new premium platform which stands for Hyper-aperture Enhanced Reconstruction Architecture, incorporating Samsung’s new Crystal Architecture to provide advanced technology and capabilities with a new level of image quality. Samsung’s new platform combines Crystal Architecture with an advanced transducer technology called S-Vue. It allows an 11-fold increase in processing power and 10 times the data transfer speed of Samsung’s previous system. It is expected to facilitate the examination of high-risk pregnancies and early diagnosis of abnormal fetus conditions.

Outstanding Image Quality

• Crystal Architecture – Offers a superior image with single crystal probe technology S-Vue, a new beamforming technology CrystalBeam and an advanced post-processing engine CrystalLive.
• ShadowHDR – Provides a shadow suppressed image, especially applicable to highly attenuated regions such as fetal head and spine.
• HQ-Vision – Allows users get high resolution images to detect clinically important details.

Seamless Workflow

• Wide Control Panel – Adopted rotatable control panel with a top-notch swivel mechanism. Allows moving range of 550mm from left to right and 219mm from top to bottom.

In addition to HERA W10, Samsung is unveiling a prototype of HERA I10, which shares the same platform as HERA W10, but with a completely new ergonomic redesign. HERA I10 is a next-generation chair-type ultrasound system with a design that is entirely different from the industry norm that meets the unique needs of Ob/Gyn professionals. HERA I10 provides a comfortable experience for both the doctor and the patient by addressing the discomfort caused by the spacing and the position of the clinicians and eliminating the need for the patient to shift the body, as it automatically adjusts for proper positioning. It also reduces the force required to move the control panel back and forth and the resistance force on the wrist.

A new ultrasound solution SonoSync will also be introduced, which allows healthcare professionals to see real-time ultrasound scanning images in remote places¹. SonoSync provides two-way communications through voice chatting and marking, improving accessibility. It can be installed on various devices such as smartphones, laptops and desktop PCs, allowing multilocation real-time training and education among healthcare professionals. Its Multiview feature also increases productivity by viewing multiple image scans in one screen.

At EUROSON, product specialists will be on hand demonstrating a wide range of ultrasound systems that are designed to help healthcare providers find effective clinical pathways. Samsung will showcase a number of ultrasound systems including:

• RS85 – Radiology-designated ultrasound system featuring MV-Flow technology, which detects microvascular blood flow. Its S-Shearwave Imaging feature provides new indicators for clinical diagnosis by quantifying the elasticity of tissue. The S-Fusion function extends analysis from the abdomen to the prostate, and allows coordination and simultaneous comparative analysis of images from other modalities such as MRI and CT.

• HS70 – High-end ultrasound system specifically designed to fit into radiology and cardiovascular solution. It features Arterial Analysis, which detects changes in vessels, providing measurement values such as stiffness. The S-Shearwave technology measures the elasticity of mass to help the diagnosis of liver lesions and RealisticVue is an additional feature that improves 3D image quality.

• HS60 – Equipped with a compact design, a 21.5-inch full high definition side display and touch screen. It also features HQ-Vision, which allows users to get a high-resolution image that helps detect clinically important details. S-Harmonic uses multi-frequency to provide a clear image from near zone to far zone.

• HS40 – Ultrasound system with user-friendly design and convenient workflow providing efficient and effective care. Features include ClearVision, MultiVision, EZ-Exam+ and ElastoScan, which helps detection of lesions.

Samsung’s new ultrasound solution SonoSync is a software that provides network service which transmits real-time ultrasound examinations¹. With SonoSync, clinicians on both sides can simultaneously view the image scanned by sonographers and share markings during discussion. This software can be simply installed without HDMI hardware boxes. Samsung’s SonoSync can be easily connected to various appliances such as smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktop PCs, increasing utility for clinicians’ teaching and training.

For academic seminars, Samsung Electronics Poland branch is hosting a satellite symposium through recent studies with leading professionals. EFSUMB Congress President Professor Paul Sidhu will present on the role of elastography in liver fibrosis: techniques, clinical practice and guidelines.
