Since announcing our Bespoke Home vision in May of this year, Samsung Electronics has been continuously introducing new Bespoke products to markets around the world. These products are beautifully designed, offer greater flexibility for personalization, and are packed with smart innovations – but great products are just one part of our Bespoke vision.

Our idea of customer-centricity begins with the very first moment consumers see our appliances in a store and extends throughout the entire lifespan of the product. To bring this vision to life, we are radically reimagining the customer experience from end to end to make it truly personalized.

Exploring Bespoke Lifestyles, Online and Offline

The core of the Bespoke philosophy is about creating home experiences that are tailored to each user. To achieve this, we set out to engage our consumers with retail experiences that foster meaningful interactions and dialogue. Not only would these experiences lead to truly personalized products, but they would also help us understand the needs of each and every different community.

We began with our Bespoke refrigerators, which have customizable modules and front panels. With Bespoke Design Studio, customers can choose a combination of module and color panels to create their ideal refrigerator from the comfort of their own homes. Their creations on the interactive platform also provide inspiration for future Bespoke designs.

Now, we are excited to expand these opportunities to the rest of the Bespoke Home lineup with Bespoke Studio. Bespoke Studio is a virtual showroom space based on Samsung’s flagship showroom in Seoul. While browsing the virtual showroom, customers can also chat with a live representative to have their questions answered in real time and find the products that fit their individual needs.

While these online innovations offer consumers ultimate convenience when exploring Bespoke products online, Samsung’s offline showrooms, including our flagship in Seoul, Samsung KX in London and Samsung 837 in New York, serve to provide in-person inspiration. Here, our customers can walk through lifestyle displays to see how we envisioned these appliances to work in real homes, and also see special displays created in collaboration with artists and designers who have elevated Bespoke devices to being works of art.

Through hosting events and consumer consultations, the showrooms also give us valuable opportunities to learn more about different needs and hear new ideas directly from you, the consumers. For us, these conversations provide the foundation for current and future Bespoke products and services.

Driven by our commitment to fostering genuine dialogue with our customers, Samsung recently ran two social media campaigns encouraging customers to tell us about how they are inspired by Bespoke. The first was the #BespokeDinnerParty Challenge, which asked consumers to put together a dinner party inspired by Bespoke colors. The second was the Bespoke Design Contest, in which we invited our customers to show us their own vision of the Bespoke refrigerator. The entries we received from all over the world gave us an insightful glimpse into how actual users around the world envisage their version of ultimate personalization with Bespoke.

Once you choose what you want to make for dinner, your smart oven will receive the recipe and set itself to the right temperature. Your robot vacuum is even able to recognize your pet, and will send you a video so that you can keep an eye on them even when you’re away from home.

With the recent rise of energy prices and the growing necessity for greener smart home solutions, Samsung envisaged SmartThings Energy as a way to empower users to be able to control the way energy is used throughout their homes and make smarter, greener decisions at home.

Thanks to the extensive growth of its partnership network, SmartThings Energy is growing into a smart energy management solution able to encompass the energy consumption of every appliance in a home, and even integrates such newer, renewable energy sources as solar.

In the UK, SmartThings Energy is now integrated with nearly 13 million Smart Meters, covering almost half of all UK homes. The service increases household energy IQ by harnessing the power of a smart home platform that analyzes user behavior and empowers users to take action and make a change – whether that change be switching to a new energy provider or garnering more awareness of their carbon footprint through monitoring.

While going about its cleaning duties, your Bespoke Jet Bot AI+ recognizes when your pet comes into view, starts recording and sends the videos straight to your phone. After receiving these real-time updates, you can then use SmartThings Pet on your phone to adjust the settings on your smart air conditioner, air purifier and lights back home to make sure your pet is as comfortable as possible while you’re away.

Give Your Clothes the Care They Deserve

The clothes we wear every day are important mainstays of our lives, but maintaining sensitive and specialty items can prove complicated, especially given that properly cleansing our garments has become particularly important in the current climate.

SmartThings Clothing Care recommends optimal cycles for the items you’re washing based on material type, your usage patterns, the current season and more. A comprehensive smart wardrobe management system, SmartThings Clothing Care also monitors detergent levels, and can even order more detergent from online retailers when you’re running low.

With SmartThings, your Bespoke AirDresser and smart washer communicate with one another to share information and deliver personalized cycles and settings. Auto Cycle Link then matches the settings on your dryer to your wash settings to ensure your clothes are getting the consistent treatment that is just right for their garment type.

Our homes are full of expressive elements. Everything from the architecture and the furniture to the decorative objects we place helps us express our individuality. However, even though they feature prominently in the interior, home appliances are still largely designed with a standardized approach.

If no two homes are the same, why should our appliances be? This was the simple question that sparked the idea for Samsung’s Bespoke – a lineup of home appliances designed to be a part of a person’s home décor, reflecting their aesthetic preferences and elements of identity. We focused on creating home appliances that are not just beautiful, but are also customizable so as to harmonize with all kinds of interior spaces, no matter the style.

The Birth of Bespoke

Our journey to elevate the design of home appliances began in the kitchen, a central space for many social activities in the home. The refrigerator is often the most visible and most used appliance in this social space, and yet, its design has largely been in stasis for many years.

With our Bespoke refrigerators, our aim was to elevate the design of refrigerators without compromising the reliable functionality and performance that Samsung products are known for. Taking inspiration from contemporary urban lifestyles and aesthetic trends, our designers created an expansive palette of colors for the refrigerator’s customizable door panels. They also developed unconventional finishes, such as matte steel and glass, to bring new textures to refrigerators and open up new possibilities for kitchen design.

But the Bespoke design philosophy goes beyond just colors and finishes. With a modular, built-in look, Bespoke refrigerators can be tailored to fit seamlessly into different kitchen layouts. Bespoke design has broken down the price barrier of built-in appliances and now, design is able to listen more closely to the consumer. By mixing and matching different modules, users can create Bespoke refrigerators that provide the right functionality for their lifestyle, dietary habits, and family size.

Creating Bespoke Lifestyles and Living Spaces

Building on the design and development process of the Bespoke refrigerator, we are now ready to bring the Bespoke design philosophy to the rest of the home, empowering users to create ideal living spaces while simplifying their everyday routines.

Take the Bespoke Cube air purifier, for example, which features a sleek, modern design that comes in various colors and interchangeable front grills in patterns like stripe and herringbone. The Bespoke Cube air purifiers are beautiful additions to any room, complementing your interior décor while quietly working to keep air quality safe.

Furthermore, the Bespoke Jet was designed with portability in mind. Unlike larger appliances, vacuums are meant to be carried around the house – but they are often hidden away when they are not being used.
