How To: Set Up

There are a few things you need to do before you can use your Gear 360 camera. They are as follows.

1. Install Memory Card

A compatible memory card must be inserted to take photos or record videos. You can then format it from the Settings menu. When you insert or remove a memory card, the Gear 360 will turn off.

2. Charge the Battery

Charge the battery before using it for the first time. You cannot charge the Gear 360 while recording a video or using the viewfinder on the connected mobile device.

3. Connect to a Mobile Device

You can control or view Gear 360 content on your Galaxy smartphone.* To sync your Gear 360 and mobile device, you first need to download the Samsung Gear 360 app.

• Download the Samsung Gear 360 app on your smartphone via Galaxy Apps, Google Play Store or apps.samsung.com/gear360.
• Turn on the Gear 360.
• Activate NFC on your mobile.
• Touch the NFC antenna area of the Gear 360 (as indicated by the NFC logo on the side of the camera) to the NFC antenna area on the back of your smartphone.

Now connect your Gear 360 to your mobile device with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct.

• Open the Samsung Gear 360 app. Your smartphone’s Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct will automatically turn on.
• Tap CONNECT and follow the instructions to complete the connection.

How To: Shoot

Gear 360 was designed for travel, festive gatherings and every activity in between to provide an all-encompassing visual experience. With a light and compact design, Gear 360 maximizes portability to film outdoors on the go, as well as indoor activities. Furthermore, in addition to the included tripod, Gear 360 can also be mounted on various camera accessories currently available on the market.

1. Select Camera

Equipped with dual fisheye lenses, Gear 360 gives users the ability to capture high-resolution 360-degree video and still images. Or, should you choose to shoot 180-degree wide angle video or images instead, you can opt to use only one side of the camera lens.

• Press the Menu key > Settings > Switch lens.
• Select the camera you want to use (front, rear, or both).
• To select with your smartphone, open the Samsung Gear 360 app, tap the camera icon and select the lens.

2. Record Video

In addition to regular Video mode, you can shoot several videos at set intervals and save them as one video in Time lapse mode. Looping video mode, on the other hand, lets you record a video continuously by overwriting a set period of the video to allow new footage to be captured and save memory card space.

• Press the Menu key, select Video (or your preferred mode).
• Press the OK key to record. Press OK to stop recording.
• To record with the Gear 360 from your smartphone, open the Samsung Gear 360 app and tap the camera icon. Tap MODE > Video. Then, tap the record button.

3. Take Photos

In addition to shooting videos, you can also take still images that capture 360 degrees in a single shot.

• Press the Menu key, select Photo.
• Press OK to take a photo.
• To take a photo from your smartphone, open the Samsung Gear 360 app and tap the camera icon. Tap MODE > Photo. Change the settings such as ISO, WB and HDR according to your preferences. Then, tap the shutter button to take a picture.

How To: View

Now that you’ve captured your memories, you can easily view them yourself, or share them with friends and family. You can view the videos and images taken with your Gear 360 in three different ways: on your smartphone, on your computer or with your Gear VR headset.

1. View on Smartphone

• Open the Samsung Gear 360
• Tap GEAR 360 and select a video or image.
• Tap the 360 view
• Drag your finger on the video or image to view it from other angles. Or, select Motion view to view the various angles by moving your smartphone in different directions.

2. View with Gear VR

• Open the Samsung Gear 360
• Tap GEAR 360 and select a video or image.
• Tap Save.
• After the image or video is saved, tap the back arrow.
• Tap MOBILE DEVICE > VIEW ON GEAR VR.**
• When prompted, insert your smartphone into your Gear VR headset.

3. View on Computer

• Connect the Gear 360 to your computer using the included USB cable.
• Transfer files between the Gear 360 and the computer.
• You can edit videos or images using Gear 360 ActionDirector.*** Download the program on your computer from samsung.com.

How To: Share

• Select a video or an image and tap
• Select a sharing method such as e-mail or a social media account to share your content.

Since Samsung launched the Galaxy Note smartphone in 2011, the line has closely identified with its signature S Pen. The versatile and easy-to-use S Pen gave users unprecedented power to take control of their digital lives, through the ability to write and edit content directly on the displays of the Galaxy Note smartphones.

Now, with the latest edition in this series launched in August, the Galaxy Note5 boasts more ways to conveniently take notes whenever you need and then share them with your friends and colleagues. With just a few clicks and strokes, the S Pen lets you do more than ever and do it more easily.

In addition to our previous article about the notable new features, the S Pen has gotten a significant upgrade, making it more responsive, accurate and fun to use. Let’s take a look at how the S Pen has grown over the years, as well as a couple of its most interesting new features.

The Growth of the S Pen

The most defining part of the Galaxy Note series is the S Pen, and the new, metallic version of the S Pen is the most elegant and useful yet. With a satisfying clicking motion, just like a retractable ink pen, the S Pen has the most natural-feeling writing experience.

For instance, the reporting rate is 80 percent higher than the previous S Pen, making the S Pen incredibly responsive to your every touch. The Galaxy Note5 is remarkably precise, recognizing 240 data points each second, far more than the 60 points per second that a finger typically can create. In addition, the new S Pen has an incredibly low latency period—just 74 milliseconds, down from 93 milliseconds with the previous model. Adding up all these improvements means far more control and nuance to your writing, just like a real pen and paper.

Using the S Pen is a simpler, two-step process: just remove the S Pen from the phone, which automatically brings up the Air Command menu, then select a feature.

Screen Off Memo

How often have you been talking to a friend or colleague, and suddenly found yourself needing to write down some key information right away? With the Galaxy Note5, you no longer have to spend time hunting for a pen and paper, or even take the time to turn your phone on, log on and fire up an app.

With Screen Off Memo, you can take notes right onto your smartphone’s screen, without even signing in. Just eject your S Pen and start writing right on the dark screen, then save your message for later once you are done.

It’s easy to turn on the Screen Off Memo feature:

1. Swipe down.
2. Choose the Settings icon.
3. Choose S Pen
4. Look for Screen Off Menu and switch to on.

That’s all there is to it. Now you can take notes you want while on the go, anytime and anywhere.

Sharing Ideas

Another incredibly useful feature with the new Galaxy Note5 is how easy it is to share notes with your friends. Now it’s a snap, when looking at a website or any content, to capture part of the image, write your comments and share the new image with everyone.

1. Eject your S Pen to bring up the Air Command menu.
2. Select Smart Select.
3. Choose the shape you want to select (Rectangle, Oval or, for any irregular shape, Lasso), then select your image.
4. Select Write. Now you can jot down your comments right onto the image you’ve chosen. When you are finished, press Save in Scrapbook.
5. Select Share. Choose how you want to share your note: by email, text message or other app.
6. Choose your recipients and press SEND.

People Edge: Adding Your Besties

Perhaps nothing in life is more important than the people around us, and People Edge lets you keep those close to you even closer. With this feature, you can add your top five favorites, like your boyfriend, your BFF and your boss, in one easy-to-access, color-coded area.

In addition to being able to more quickly access these contacts, you can set the edge screen to illuminate with different colors when there are notifications about them. Furthermore, People Edge lets you communicate with your friends using emoticons, pokes, images and handwritten messages.

1. Switch On.
2. Tap My people.
3. Choose Add contact, then select the friend you wish to add from contact list.
4. To assign a color to the contact, tap the color dot next to the contact’s name, then choose the preferred color.
5. From the People Edge menu, select OnCircle and switch it On to communicate with your friends using emoticons, pokes, images and handwritten messages.
6. Interact with your favorite people by swiping inwards from the Edge handle. Tap the contact and connect!

Alternatively, you can add a contact straight from the edge screen. Simply swipe, press + and select contact.

Apps Edge: Access Your App Obsession Even More Easily

Everyone has their own go-to app. Maybe you’re a social media fiend. Or, perhaps you can’t live without your podcast radio. Whatever you’re into, Apps Edge lets you put your most frequently used apps in one easily accessible place.

1. Switch On.
2. Select Add application.
3. Select app to be added.
4. Instantly access your favorite apps by swiping inwards from the Edge handle and tap the app you wish to open.

Alternatively, you can add an app directly from the edge screen. Simply swipe, press + and select app.

Edge Lighting: Light Up the Edge

Keep the Galaxy S6 edge+ silent, but know when you receive calls or notifications, even when the phone is turned over by, setting up Edge lighting. Once activated, a light will signal any incoming calls or messages. Also, if People Edge is on, the color of the indicator will correspond with your My people settings.

In addition, you can send preset replies to incoming calls without answering, turning over your phone or even picking it up.

1. Switch On.
2. Tap Quick reply and switch it On to reject an incoming call and send a preset message to the caller by placing your finger on the heart rate sensor and holding it in place for two seconds while the device is turned over.
3. Set your Quick reply message.

Information Stream: Manage the Feeds That Matter to You

The Information stream on the Galaxy S6 edge+ displays feeds related to your interests on the edge screen while the main screen is turned off. There’s a feed for everyone, whether you want the latest news in entertainment, the scores of the big game or are keeping a watchful eye on the stock market. If you’re an information junkie, you can customize the Information stream to display multiple feeds in the order of your preference.

1. Switch On.
2. Select Manage feeds.
3. Choose the feeds you want displayed by checking the box above each, or download other feeds.
4. Tap Reorder to organize your selected feeds.
5. Tap, hold and drag the feeds in the order that you prefer, with the feed to be displayed first on the far left.
6. Go back to the Information stream menu and select Edge screen timeout to select the length of time you would like the Information stream to be displayed.
7. From the Information stream menu, select Weather to change the settings of your weather feed.
8. To view the Information stream, swipe your finger along the edge screen and back in one quick motion while the main screen is turned off. To view other feeds, swipe the edge screen upwards or downwards.

Night Clock: Always On and Easy On the Eyes

If you’re like most people, you use your mobile device as a primary timepiece, or an alarm (or alarms) clock to get you up and at ‘em in the morning. But you also hate the blinding effect looking at a bright screen in the middle of the night tends to cause. Thanks to the Night clock of the Galaxy S6 edge+, however, those days are over, as you can activate it to softly illuminate the time on the edge screen while the main screen is turned off.

1. Switch On.
2. Set the start and end times that you want Night clock to be displayed using the keypad. (The maximum duration for Night clock is 12 hours.)

Edge Screen Position: Customize the Way You Access the Edge

Lefty? Righty? Big hands? Tiny thumbs? It doesn’t matter, as you can set the edge screen to be displayed on either side of the Galaxy S6 edge+ to allow for easy and comfortable use. Likewise, you can set the Edge handle—a tab which essentially acts a shortcut to the edge screen—to your preferred position of the screen.

1. To change the position of the handle on the edge screen, tap the arrow key, then drag the edge screen handle to the location of your choice.
2. Tap Show Edge screen handle on to select on which screens you want the handle to be displayed. (All screens or Home and lock screens only.)
3. From the Edge screen position menu, select Edge screen side and choose Right side or Left side.

Why Cloud Printing?

Imagine you are in a taxi, on your way to an important meeting, when you get an email that something in your presentation needs to be revised. Sure you can make those changes in the taxi using your laptop or mobile device, but once you arrive, you will still need to re-print everything, costing you valuable time.

But not anymore. Thanks to SAMSUNG Cloud Print, you can send your print job from the taxi, even while you’re still navigating through traffic. When you arrive at your destination, the new documents can be all ready and waiting for you.

Similarly, SAMSUNG Cloud Print can be used at a hotel to simplify printing documents. In the past, you had to walk down to the hotel’s business center, bringing the files or your laptop. But now, you can send the print job from your device directly to the hotel’s printer and just pick up the printout.

By using the cloud, you get to bypass the old, complicated connection between computers and wired printer networks. You can even print files on printers in other countries, if you need. SAMSUNG Cloud Print is faster, easier and more flexible.

Getting Started

The first step is, of course, downloading the Samsung Cloud Print software and installing it, which can be done with a simple search on most app stores, like Samsung Galaxy Apps or the Google Play store. The software is free and works with the major platforms (Android, iOS, Windows and more).

Once the software is installed and you run it for the first time, the first thing you will notice is how simple the application is. There are just four icons across the top: Print, My Drive, Friends and More.

Printing

The first thing you are most likely to need is to connect to a printer, which can be done by clicking on the Add Device icon (the printer+ icon) on the upper-right of the Print screen.

There, you can connect to a printer by Wi-Fi, NFC, QR Code or MAC Address. Each is very straightforward. For NFC (Near Field Communication), just look for the NFC sticker on the printer, then hold up your mobile device close to it, and the device will automatically just show up.

Once you have chosen your printer, go back to the Print screen and select the document you want to print.

• Photo goes to your device’s Gallery, where you can choose from photos you have taken, downloads and screenshots.
• Document takes you to your device’s Documents folder.
• Web lets you input an Internet URL.
• E-mail allows you to sign into your email account of choice and select emails to print.
• Camera lets you take a new photo and print it directly.

After you have selected what you want to print, you can either print it right away using the green Print button in the lower right, or you can make changes with Preview, the gray button in the lower left.

Selecting Preview gives you several options for editing the file.

• The upper-left button allows you to switch between Color and Grayscale (or black-and-white).
• The middle button lets you change the paper size (default is A4).
• The right button changes the size of the image on the paper.
• The pen square on the upper-right on the document itself lets you make further changes: cropping, rotating and number of copies to print.

Again, whenever you are ready, there is a big, green Print button that sends the print command to your printer. At any time, you can also change the printer you are using by selecting the blue printer box at the bottom, just above the Print box.

Receiving Files

SAMSUNG Cloud Print also works in the opposite direction, allowing people to send documents from the printer to your device. The person at the printer just scans a document, then enters your phone number, and the file goes directly to your device.

The file will show up in your My Drive field (the second field from the left, beside Print). Selecting the file gives you the options Delete, Preview or Print.

Connecting With Others

SAMSUNG Cloud Print also lets you send and receive files directly with others. To do so, select the Friends option (second icon from right). Your contacts are in the Friends area, and you can add more contacts with Invite Friends.

When you select a contact, then get the same list of file options as in Print: Photo, Document, Web, E-mail and Camera. But now, once you’ve selected the file, the green button at the bottom is Send instead of Print. Otherwise, everything works the same.

Customizing and Everything Else

The More field (the three dots on the far right) is where you will find everything else: My Profile, Job History, Setting, Information and more. Job History is a convenient way to keep track of all the print jobs and sent files you have done using SAMSUNG Cloud Print. And Setting allows you to customize your version of the app so it works just the way you like, changing notifications, popups and help options.

More to Come

The team behind SAMSUNG Cloud Print says that more options are coming early next year to their useful service. An Enterprise edition is coming for large businesses that need a lot of in-house printing and that have advanced in-house networks, while a Business edition will be for small and medium size businesses that want to reduce printing cost, increase printing security, and print from anywhere, anytime.

No matter what version of SAMSUNG Cloud Print you choose to use, they are all excellent tools for getting print jobs done more simply, cutting the old ties to in-house networks and limitations. Video Collage: Add Creativity to Your Shots

Just as photo collages became very popular for turning photographs into creative displays that are fun to share, now you can do the same with videos using the new mode Video Collage.

Video Collage has three options, each offering a fun option for preserving your special moments. Collage lets you combine videos side-by-side or in a grid, so viewers can see several films at the same time. Series combines videos together one after another in a sequence. And Slow Motion takes a single film and divides it into segments in a two-by-two grid, so you can watch the action from different points in time; each segment can be slowed down and played at different speeds.

These features are fun, but also easy to learn and require just a few steps:

1. In Camera, go to MODE in the lower left of the screen, then select Video Collage.
2. On the top of your screen, select which type of Video Collage you want to make (it’s the option third from the left, between flash and time).
   1. For Collage, you need to choose how many frames and the arrangement you want in the composition.
   2. For Collage and Series you also need to choose an aspect ratio.
3. Select the recording time (between 3 and 15 seconds for Collage and Series, or between 6 and 15 seconds for Slow Motion).
4. Press the red record button in the bottom center to begin filming
5. If you like the results, press SAVE.

The mode walks you through the steps in a way that is both easy and intuitive, and anyone can pick up the process quickly.

Live Broadcasting

The Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Galaxy Note5 also feature Live Broadcasting, giving you the ability to share your experiences via YouTube. You can share your broadcast with all of your contacts, no matter what device they use, quickly and easily.

With Live Broadcast, you no longer have to upload videos and wait for them to process. Now they can just go out directly, to anyone you choose. You can also schedule your video to go out at a time of your choosing, depending on what you prefer. It’s a powerful new tool that lets you share your ideas, memories and content like never before.

1. In Camera, go to MODE in the lower left of the screen, then select Live Broadcast.
2. Sign in to your YouTube account (you will need a Google+ profile).
3. Select Invite and choose who you want to watch.

Effects for Rear and Front Camera

Video is not the only function that has gotten significant changes for the Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note5. For photographs, too, there are now more modes and effects than ever, ensuring you can capture just the look and feel you want for every occasion.

Effects have gotten a big overhaul. People love filters because they allow them to customize their photos and create a variety of moods and feelings. But the effects people most enjoy when taking photos of the world around them can be different than what they want for taking photos of themselves, which is why Samsung has created all-different effects for the front and rear cameras.

The rear camera has eight all-new options—Pastel, Vivid, Retro, Film, Monogram, Nostalgia, Gold and Delicious. Selecting the front camera brings up eight different filters—Calm, Dawn, Grayscale, Evergreen, Rose, Sweet, Riddle and Everyday—designed to make you and your selfies look stylish and unique.

Whichever effects you choose, you can now control the strength of the effect as well as how much of a Vignette (or pinhole effect) to add.

Taking Selfies with Beauty Effects

Both the Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Galaxy Note5 have added more options to their Beauty face mode, now giving people more control over their image and helping them capture just the right look.  Because every person is different, now there are four different settings for creating beautify effects depending on each person’s needs.

To use beauty editing, just turn on the front camera and select Beauty from the top menu. That brings up a menu with four options: Skin Tone, Large Eyes, Slim Face and Shape Correction. All are adjustable on a scale of 1 to 8 (except Shape Correction, which is simply on or off).

Photo Editing Modes

The Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Galaxy Note5 provide various tools for editing photo, such as creating collages, cropping, tone adjustment, changing aspect ratio and applying effects. As always, the focus is on giving you the ability to create and personalize, easily and effectively.

Animate

In addition, there is now a fun new option called Animate, which allows you to string together any photos or other images stored in your phone to create animated shorts. Just follow these steps:

1. Select a photo or image from your Gallery. Select Edit, then choose Animate.
2. Press the + button under the photo, which will take you to your Gallery. Select all the additional images you want to animate, then press DONE.
3. The photos you have selected are now in a row. You can change the order, delete images you do not want to use, or add more images. When you’re satisfied, press DONE.
4. The animated short will play. You can choose Ratio to change the aspect ratio of the film, and Speed for how fast you want the images to move.
5. If you want to make more changes, press EDIT. If you’re all done, press SAVE.

The finished sequence is saved in the Photo Editor album of the Gallery.

If you want to personalize the animated short more, you can always draw on the individual images directly.

Collage

3. Use your S Pen to write directly on the PDF. Choose your nib and color to make comments, scratch out items you don’t like or draw new suggestions onto the document.

Downloading and installing a new Theme on your Galaxy S6 or S6 edge requires a few easy steps. You can access Themes on the settings menu of your device, either in Quick Settings or in the Personal section.

Or, on the homescreen, a long press or a pinch zoom out will reveal a Themes icon. Clicking on this will display the Themes menu.

Clicking on a Theme with an arrow pointing down will bring you to the Themes Store. If you haven’t logged into your Samsung account, you’ll need to agree to the terms and conditions first. Then you can download your selected Theme with two clicks.

To get new Themes, click the Store button in the top right corner of the Themes menu. This will allow you to browse the various Themes that Samsung offers to Galaxy S6 and S6 edge users. Once you’ve selected a Theme, click Download.

Once you’ve downloaded your Theme of choice, you can apply it to your device in the Themes menu.
