Throughout the event, Samsung showcased its latest wearable technology that works seamlessly with the Samsung Health app to help users lead healthier, more balanced lives. Samsung Newsroom captured key moments from World Sleep 2025 and how the company is redefining personalized healthcare.

Inside Samsung’s Healthcare Technology

From September 8 to 10, visitors explored how Samsung’s healthcare innovations can improve sleep and overall health at the Samsung Health booth (#120).

▲ Attendees discover their Sleep Animal type by taking a short survey.

Guests could complete a short sleep survey to learn what type of sleeper they are, represented by one of eight Sleep Animals — each illustrating a distinct pattern related to duration, consistency and wake time.

The booth also highlighted the Samsung Health Software Development Kit (SDK) — a suite of tools that enables the secure, consent-based use of health data. The SDK underscores Samsung’s ongoing efforts to integrate technology into daily life and drive better health outcomes, particularly in sleep.

On September 9, Samsung hosted a symposium on the next chapter of wearables and healthcare technologies. Jongmin Choi, Vice President of Health R&D at Samsung Electronics, outlined the company’s advancements in promoting health and wellness and emphasized how its innovations are shaping the future of healthcare.

▲ Jongmin Choi, Head of Health H/W R&D Group, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, explains Samsung’s ongoing efforts toward a healthier life at the symposium.

“Sleep is a cornerstone of health, and Samsung is committed to helping people understand and improve it,” said Choi. “We’re proud to demonstrate how our innovations turn complex biometrics into actionable insights that empower people to take meaningful steps toward better daily health.”

Leading the Charge in Sleep Health

One of Samsung’s newest innovations in personalized health experiences is the Galaxy Watch8 series, launched in July 2025 with advanced features to improve sleep tracking and coaching.

The Bedtime Guidance feature offers personalized recommendations based on the two-process model of sleep regulation — a scientific framework that describes the interaction between homeostatic sleep drive and circadian rhythms. By applying this model, Bedtime Guidance1 helps users establish healthier routines that support consistent, restorative sleep.

The Galaxy Watch8 series also includes a Sleep Apnea2 feature for users 22 and older who have not been diagnosed with the condition. The tool can detect signs of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) after just two nights of monitoring. Because OSA is a common, chronic condition that often goes undiagnosed, early detection can encourage users to seek medical attention and reduce long-term health risks.

Furthermore, the Galaxy Watch8 series incorporates the Vascular Load3 feature to track stress levels in the vascular system during sleep. This stress typically decreases at night, but excessive fluctuations can harm cardiovascular health. By providing insights into sleep, stress and activity, Vascular Load helps users better understand their wellness and encourages small, consistent lifestyle changes for long-term cardiovascular health.

Building Wellness Through Everyday Insights

The Galaxy Watch8 series offers expanded health and fitness capabilities. Antioxidant Index4 — introduced for the first time on a smartwatch — measures carotenoid levels in the skin, while Running Coach5 creates customized three- to five-week training programs. Stress management tools include High Stress Alert, guided breathing exercises and Energy Score.

These wellness tools demonstrate Samsung’s commitment to turning fragmented health data into meaningful, personalized insights that support simple, daily habits. By combining advanced sensors, AI-driven insights and a connected health ecosystem, Samsung is setting new standards for how wearables can improve health — one night’s sleep at a time.

▲ Samsung Health Immersion program

1 Based on three days of sleep analysis measuring the user’s circadian rhythm and sleep pressure.
2 The Sleep Apnea feature is an over-the-counter (OTC), software-only mobile medical application that runs on compatible Galaxy Watch series models and Galaxy smartphones. It is intended to detect signs of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults 22 and older through a two-night monitoring period. The feature is for on-demand use only and not for individuals previously diagnosed with sleep apnea. Users should not rely on this feature as a substitute for professional diagnosis or treatment. The data is not intended to assist clinicians in diagnosing sleep disorders.
3 Wearing a compatible Galaxy Watch while sleeping for at least three of the most recent 14 days is required.
4 To measure the Antioxidant Index, users should place the center of a finger on the back sensor of the watch and hold for five seconds. While any finger may be used, the thumb is recommended for the most accurate results. Repeat measurements may vary due to uneven skin texture.
5 Before starting Running Coach, users must take a running level test and receive a level designation.
