As the world comes together to celebrate World Environment Day, Samsung India is shining a spotlight on a new generation of innovators who are tackling some of the planet’s most pressing challenges through technology, creativity and purpose.

Through Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, Samsung’s flagship CSR programme, young innovators across India are transforming ideas into impactful solutions that address environmental sustainability, waste management, resource conservation and public health. Their innovations demonstrate how technology can become a powerful force for positive change.

Among these inspiring changemakers is Team Udaan, winners of Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2022. Comprising Prisha Dubey, Anupriya Nayak and Vanalika Konwar, the team developed eco-friendly, affordable and washable sanitary pads made from shredded sugarcane bagasse, an agricultural byproduct often discarded as waste.

Team Udaan

By converting agricultural residue into a sustainable menstrual hygiene solution, Team Udaan addressed two critical challenges simultaneously reducing environmental waste and improving access to affordable menstrual products for women, particularly in underserved communities.

A year later, another group of young innovators brought environmental technology to India’s coastlines. Aditi Japariya, Harshil Mistry and Vaibhav Gupta from NIT Surat developed ‘Sweep’, an automated beach-cleaning robot that can detect, identify and segregate waste based on recyclability.

Designed to operate autonomously across difficult terrain, Sweep aims to improve the efficiency of beach-cleaning operations while helping protect marine ecosystems from the growing threat of plastic and other waste materials.

Team Sweep

The spirit of innovation continued in Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2025, where three Class 12 students from Ludhiana, developed ‘Prithvi Rakshak’—a smart vermicomposting system that transforms organic waste into valuable resources.

Created by Abhishek Dhanda, Prabhkirat Singh and Rachita Chandok, the solution uses sensors, modular compartments and intelligent controls to reduce composting time from nearly 90 days to around 30 days. The system produces nutrient-rich vermicompost, organic liquid fertilizer and compost sticks, making sustainable waste management practical for homes, farms and urban communities alike. “Our biggest learning was that empathy can be a design tool,” says Rachita Chandok.

Team Prithvi Rakshak

Beyond waste management, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow has also supported innovations focused on one of humanity’s most essential resources—clean water. Teams such as Eco Tech Innovator and METAL developed solutions aimed at improving access to safe drinking water and removing arsenic contamination from groundwater, earning incubation support to further advance their technologies.

Together, these innovators represent the core philosophy of Samsung Solve for Tomorrow: empowering young people to solve real-world problems through technology and entrepreneurship.

The programme continues to provide mentorship, incubation support and access to experts, enabling promising ideas to evolve into scalable solutions with the potential to create meaningful social and environmental impact.

As we mark World Environment Day, the journeys of these young innovators serve as a reminder that the solutions to some of our biggest environmental challenges may already be taking shape in classrooms, colleges and communities across India.

At Samsung, we remain committed to nurturing the next generation of changemakers whose ideas can help build a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable future for all.

As Samsung marks 30 years in India, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow reflects a long-term commitment to empowering young people to become problem-solvers, innovators and entrepreneurs.

Building on four successful seasons, Samsung has now opened applications for Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2026.

Young innovators aged 14-22 can apply across four themes: AI Living for India, Health and Education, Environmental Sustainability, and Sport and Tech.

Samsung India is driving awareness and action around responsible e-waste disposal through employee engagement, consumer outreach and sustainability

Samsung India is driving awareness and action around responsible e-waste disposal through employee engagement, consumer outreach and sustainability partnerships.

As electronic devices have become an integral part of everyday life, much of this electronic waste remains stored in homes or is disposed of improperly, making it an often-overlooked environmental concern.

This World Environment Day, Samsung India is encouraging consumers and employees to take action through a nationwide awareness campaign focused on responsible e-waste disposal and recycling.

As part of the initiative, Samsung has partnered with authorized recyclers to organize e-waste collection drives across its head office and branch offices in eight major cities. Employees and consumers are being encouraged to responsibly dispose of unused electronic items and contribute to a more sustainable future. Participants will also receive a plant sapling as a symbol of environmental stewardship.

What is e-waste?

E-waste, or electronic waste, refers to discarded electrical and electronic devices such as mobile phones, laptops, televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, chargers, batteries, cables, and other electronic accessories that are no longer in use, broken, or have reached the end of their life.

Awareness Campaign

To further build awareness, Samsung is organizing drawing and quiz contests for employees around the theme of environmental sustainability and responsible recycling.

Samsung is also reaching consumers through a digital awareness campaign that highlights the importance of proper e-waste disposal. The campaign showcases Samsung’s Care for Clean India initiative, which offers free doorstep pickup of bulky end-of-life appliances, making responsible recycling easier and more convenient.

In addition, Samsung has partnered with sustainability advocates and digital creators to amplify awareness around e-waste management and encourage environmentally responsible practices.

This World Environment Day, Samsung India invites everyone to make the invisible visible by responsibly recycling old electronics and helping build a cleaner, greener future.

What happens to my personal data if I hand over my device?

Before handing over your device for e-waste recycling, we recommend backing up and deleting all personal data. Samsung does not access, store, or recover personal data from devices collected for recycling. Users are responsible for ensuring that all personal information is removed from their devices before disposal.

Besides the award ceremony at the Samsung Head Office, the students also had the opportunity to explore Samsung’s innovation ecosystem through visits to Samsung R&D Institute Noida, Samsung R&D Institute Delhi and Samsung Design Delhi. They interacted with technology leaders to understand how the skills gained through Samsung Innovation Campus can be applied to solve real-world challenges. They also gained insights into Samsung’s design philosophy, user-centric innovation processes, and next-generation product development.

Through structured training in AI, Coding & Programming, IoT and Big Data, the programme equips students with industry-relevant skills while fostering innovation, critical thinking and digital leadership. As India accelerates its digital transformation, Samsung Innovation Campus continues to create pathways for young talent to access technology education, mentorship and opportunities, helping build the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers.

The event also included Madhvendra Singh, CEO, Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) and Lt Gen Kulbhushan H Gawas, CEO, Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC).
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced a major update to the Samsung Health app, transforming the upcoming Galaxy Watch into a proactive,

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced a major update to the Samsung Health app, transforming the upcoming Galaxy Watch into a proactive, intelligent health partner. Starting June 8, Samsung will begin rolling out the app update to showcase the key health features included in the upcoming Galaxy Watch. The update[1] makes daily health management effortless by translating complex biometric data — from overnight sleep to daily activity — into simple, actionable guidance.

“Samsung Health is evolving to connect health data measured by Galaxy Watch with AI-based insights, enabling users to understand their physical and mental condition more easily and intuitively,” said Hon Pak, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Health Team for the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “Samsung Electronics will continue to expand proactive and personalized health management experiences based on the connected Galaxy ecosystem and digital health innovations.”

This advancement is a key milestone in Samsung’s overarching vision for a truly AI-powered health platform designed to help users stay ahead of their health. The newly announced health features will first be available on the upcoming Galaxy Watch.

Features Transforming Galaxy Watch into an Intelligent Health Partner

The Samsung Health update comes with the following features:

Vitals: A Better Understanding of the Body’s Signals — Previously, Samsung Health monitored specific health metrics to help measure users’ daily Energy Score. Now, Samsung Health is taking this a step further. When users wake up, the new Vitals feature analyzes five key overnight bio-signals — heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature and blood oxygen — against their true resting baseline. It sends notifications only when it detects meaningful deviations, helping users determine if they need more rest or are fighting an illness, without causing alert fatigue.

Heart Health Score: Improved Long-Term Wellness — Last year, Samsung introduced Vascular Load to help users monitor vascular stress and adopt a more holistic approach to health. Today, that vision evolves into the Heart Health Score. This single daily metric takes the insights previously found in Vascular Load — such as sleep, stress and activity — and combines them with body composition data. The result is a unified score that clearly identifies the habits impacting users’ long-term well-being, giving them immediate clarity on their heart health.

Daily Cardio Load: Smarter Cardiovascular Training — When users are deciding how hard to push during aerobic exercise, Daily Cardio Load measures accumulated cardiovascular strain. By calculating daily load and maximum training capacity, it recommends optimal training targets and rest times to ensure users reach their goals without risking burnout or injury.

Fitness Index: Seamless Progress Tracking — The Fitness Index ensures exercise routines are working by analyzing metrics like heart rate, VO2 max (a key measure of aerobic fitness) and daily steps against users’ peers. By clearly identifying individual physical strengths and weaknesses, it delivers tailored content and personalized goals so users can make continuous, targeted improvements.

New Samsung Health Design for a Simplified, Personal Experience

To make these proactive insights easy to find, Samsung Health introduces a streamlined layout organized into five core pillars: Sleep, Activity, Nutrition, Mindfulness and Vitals. Within the Home screen, users can now easily access their daily wellness tips alongside their AI-powered Energy Score. This centralized view removes guesswork from health management, allowing users to quickly understand how different aspects of their routine interconnect at a single glance.

Upgraded Capabilities for Proactive Wellness

Samsung Health is also significantly advancing the core features users already rely on, delivering deeper personalization with greater precision. As users navigate their day, Antioxidant Index now provides an even clearer roadmap of their nutritional intake. With new trend charts and daily history logs, it visually connects users’ dietary choices to physical responses over time. Behind the scenes, the AGEs index has been enhanced to quietly work in the background, capturing automatic overnight measurements to build a long-term picture of how lifestyle choices accumulate in users’ bodies. This helps users uncover health insights that truly matter for their well-being.

Comprehensive wellness extends to external environments, as well, with Samsung offering a brand-new Hearing Health feature that integrates seamlessly across the Galaxy ecosystem. By monitoring surrounding ambient noise through Galaxy Watch, it delivers personalized analytics to help protect the user’s ears — whether they are on a loud commute or dialing up the music during a workout.

Together, these advanced refinements and new ecosystem-connected features turn everyday data into simple, practical guidance, setting the perfect stage for the future of Samsung Health.

A Seamlessly Connected Health Ecosystem

Samsung’s expansive ecosystem unlocks the true power of these new features, seamlessly managing health across users’ Galaxy mobile phones and connected devices. This frictionless integration ensures that personalized insights are always accessible, providing a unified view of user well-being. These advancements offer a glimpse into the future of Samsung Health — a future that will be fully realized with the launch of Samsung’s next generation of Galaxy Watches, engineered to bring this proactive intelligence to life like never before.

[1] New health features are for wellness only, not for the diagnosis or treatment of any medical condition. If concerned about health, be sure to see a medical professional. Available on Android phones (Android 10 or above) and requires the Samsung Health app (v7.0 or above). Samsung account login required. Certain features may require user activity and data accumulation over time to enable personalized results. Feature availability, supported devices, and rollout timing may vary by market, model, and other factors and are subject to change.

Most innovation competitions end when the awards are handed out. For many participants of Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, that is where the real journey begins.

Across four seasons of the programme in India, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow has evolved beyond a competition into an innovation ecosystem that continues to support young innovators through mentorship, incubation, research access and industry connections. The result is a growing network of young changemakers who are not only building solutions to real-world challenges but also taking them beyond prototypes and into communities.

At the heart of this journey is a simple belief: innovation can emerge from anywhere.

For Syed from Golaghat and Muqaddir from rural Assam, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow became the first platform that transformed ideas into reality.

“Even to build a prototype, no organisation was giving me a lab,” recalls Syed. “After applying to Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, by the end of the programme, we had a working prototype.”

What began as an effort to address water quality challenges has since evolved into six deployed pilot units, a collaboration with Mumbai-based Vasudeva Innovations on wastewater treatment solutions, and ongoing discussions with investors for pre-seed funding.

Muqaddir’s journey was equally rooted in solving a local challenge. Witnessing the impact of rising temperatures on tea garden workers, he developed a wearable cooling solution designed to reduce heat stress and improve worker well-being. His work has since earned recognition at national and international platforms, including the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards.

Yet both innovators point to something beyond funding or recognition.

“The mentors I met through Samsung Solve for Tomorrow are still guiding me today,” says Muqaddir. “The programme taught me that where you come from does not define what you can achieve.”

Hundreds of kilometres away in Punjab, another innovation journey was taking shape.

Abhishek Dhanda and his co-founder began developing a vermicomposting machine while still in Class 10. Their idea emerged from a challenge deeply familiar to communities across Punjab’s Malwa region: managing agricultural waste while restoring soil health after years of intensive farming.

Today, their venture, Prithvi Rakshak, is progressing through commercial prototyping under incubation at FITT, IIT Delhi, moving steadily towards real-world deployment.

For Aditi and her team in Gujarat, the inspiration came from polluted shorelines.

Concerned by growing marine waste, the team developed Sweep, a beach-cleaning robot designed to automate waste collection along coastlines. What began as a student project has since received recognition from the Government of Gujarat and is now advancing with AI-powered capabilities and potential manufacturing partnerships.

Perhaps one of the most remarkable examples of long-term impact is Anupriya’s journey.

At just 16 years old, she entered Samsung Solve for Tomorrow with an idea to create sustainable menstrual products using agricultural waste. The concept was designed to make menstrual hygiene products more affordable, accessible and environmentally sustainable for underserved communities.

Today, that idea has evolved into a direct-to-consumer venture while also supporting rural health resource centres in some of India’s most remote regions.

Her work has expanded even further. In collaboration with researchers at IIT Delhi, she is now developing a patented diagnostic technology that uses menstrual blood to identify early markers of conditions including endometriosis, hepatitis, ovarian cancer and cervical cancer.

“It is because of long-term support programmes like Solve for Tomorrow that we are able to build innovations that create meaningful change,” she says.

These stories represent a broader shift in how innovation is being nurtured in India.

Launched globally in 2010 and now active across 68 countries, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow has engaged millions of young innovators worldwide over the past 15 years. In India, the programme has steadily built partnerships with Startup India under DPIIT, MeitY Startup Hub and Atal Innovation Mission, creating pathways that help young innovators access mentorship, incubation and industry networks.

The impact is visible in communities across the country—from clean water solutions and sustainable healthcare innovations to environmental technologies and AI-powered systems.

Switching mobile phones used to feel like starting over — transferring photos, messages, and learning a new experience. Yet many continue to make the move to Samsung Galaxy, with nearly half choosing the premium Galaxy S Ultra line. Today switching has never been easier.

Samsung offers a range of features designed to make switching simple whether you’re exploring Galaxy for the first time, setting up your new device, or just starting to use it day to day.

Try Galaxy – Test the Galaxy Experience Before You Switch

If you’re curious to see what Galaxy is all about, you can start by trying it on the device already in your hand.[1] Try Galaxy lets you preview the latest[2] One UI experience on your current phone. It simulates key features, so you can explore how Galaxy works before making the switch. You can get a feel for what it’s like to navigate, customize, and use a Galaxy device at your own pace.

Smart Switch – Bring Everything You Need with You

There’s nothing more frustrating than powering up your new phone only to realize you can’t find what you need. [3] Smart Switch helps you move your contacts, photos, messages, apps, calendars, settings, and more from your old phone to your new Galaxy device.[4] The improved experience is now faster. It walks you through everything step by step and you have the option to transfer wirelessly,[5] with a cable, or from a cloud backup. That means you aren’t starting from scratch with your new phone, it’s already set up with the things you rely on, so you can pick up right where you left off.

Quick Share – Share Easily Across Devices

Need to send a file or photo to friends using different devices? Once you’re up and running with Galaxy you can take advantage of Quick Share, Samsung’s built-in file sharing feature that lets you send photos, videos, and other files seamlessly between Galaxy phones, tablets, and PCs. Plus, share files in full quality using nearby sharing, links, or QR codes across devices and ecosystems.

Quick Share also recognizes nearby Apple devices, making it AirDrop capable,[6] for a more seamless photo, video, and file transfer experience. That means you don’t have to think about who you’re sharing with — it just works.

Switching Made Easy

With the ability to test fan favorite features with Try Galaxy before you buy, keep the information that matters to you, and stay connected across ecosystems, the entire Galaxy onboarding experience is designed to be straightforward, so you don’t miss a beat.

Ready to explore something new? Discover the latest from Galaxy, including the new Galaxy S26 Series, and see how easy it can be to make the switch at Samsung.com.

As part of Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, Samsung has introduced a Design Thinking Toolkit aimed at helping young innovators transform ideas into impactful real-world solutions.

The toolkit is designed to guide students through the fundamentals of design thinking — a problem-solving approach that encourages participants to deeply understand real-world challenges, empathize with users, brainstorm innovative ideas, build solutions and refine them through continuous feedback.

For students applying to Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, the toolkit serves as a practical resource to strengthen both their applications and overall approach to innovation. It helps participants identify meaningful community problems, think critically about user needs, structure their ideas more effectively and develop solution-oriented mindsets.

The toolkit also introduces participants to key concepts such as empathy mapping, problem identification, ideation, prototyping and storytelling — essential skills for young innovators looking to create scalable and human-centric solutions.

By making the Design Thinking Toolkit accessible to all applicants, Samsung aims to democratize innovation and empower more young people across India to become changemakers in their communities.

Audio Eraser[1] on Galaxy devices reduces unnecessary noise in videos and amplifies desired sounds, enabling a more immersive viewing experience. First

Audio Eraser[1] on Galaxy devices reduces unnecessary noise in videos and amplifies desired sounds, enabling a more immersive viewing experience. First introduced for editing saved content on the Galaxy S25 series, the feature has evolved significantly over the generations. Audio Eraser expanded to support playback adjustments within native apps — such as Gallery and Voice Recorder — on Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7.

Now, with the Galaxy S26 series,[2] it has reached new heights by supporting real-time audio control on content streamed across various platforms. In this article, we’ll dive deeper into these advancements.

From Fix it Later to Filter it Now

Starting with the Galaxy S26 series, Audio Eraser has evolved into a live audio experience. It enables real-time sound separation and optimization across voices, music and background noise, not only for recorded content but also for over-the-top (OTT) or social media content you are watching. This advancement shifts the focus from post-recording edits to real-time audio management.

By integrating an AI sound engine with advanced sound separation technology, the Galaxy S26 series allows you to instantly adjust and control sound as it occurs. This ensures a clear, immersive listening experience across various streaming platforms by effectively neutralizing distracting background noise.

The video below shows how the Galaxy S26 series keeps the sounds you want to hear clear, even in noisy environments.

Seamless Access, Total Control

You can easily adjust noise and reduce distractions directly from the Quick panel without needing to rewind or replay content. While the video is playing, simply swipe down from the top right of the screen and tap the Audio Eraser icon to start filtering the sound right away.

Once activated, the feature offers advanced controls for a more professional touch. You can adjust the “Strength” slider to fine-tune noise reduction and enable “Voice Focus” to hear crystal-clear dialogue in the video.

With the Galaxy S26 series, you can enjoy tailored sound quality in real-time, regardless of the content you’re watching.

▲ Access Audio Eraser via the Quick panel on the Galaxy S26 series, with controls to adjust “Strength” and enable “Voice focus.”[3]

Audio Eraser is no longer limited to reducing noise. It now allows you to easily design your sound in real time. Enjoy the more personalized and comfortable listening experience with the Galaxy S26 series.

[1] Audio Eraser supports adjusting noise from media playing through the Quick panel for select apps on the Galaxy S26 series. The level of support depends on the model and OS version. Results may vary by video depending on how sounds are present. Samsung Account login is required. Certain types of sound, such as voices, music and noise, can be detected. Actual sound detection may vary depending on the audio source and video conditions. Accuracy of results is not guaranteed.

[2] The Galaxy S26 series includes Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra.

[3] Image simulated for illustrative purposes. Actual UX/UI may be different.
