Samsung, India’s largest consumer electronics brand, marks 30 years of its customer service journey in India, tracing its evolution from a small service operation in Delhi in the mid-1990s to one of the country’s largest and most digitally-connected customer care ecosystems.

When Service Was Still Analog

The story of Samsung’s customer service evolution closely mirrors India’s own technological transformation — from an era of handwritten complaint registers, pagers and physical service visits to AI-powered diagnostics, connected appliances and predictive care ecosystems.

When Samsung opened its first service centre in India in March 1996, the country looked very different. Phones and internet were rare and customer requests were manually recorded in registers resting on crowded office desks.

“Back then, customer care was deeply personal in the most literal sense. Customers often walked directly into service centres because telephones were not common in homes. Service requests were manually entered into registers, and engineers travelled across cities carrying logbooks, paper slips and toolkits,” said Rajiv Gupta, Director, Service Operations, Samsung India.

By December 1996, Samsung had already expanded to 21 service centres across India. In 1997, engineers began using pagers to receive customer alerts — a small but important technological leap at the time.

Building the Infrastructure of Trust

As India’s consumer technology market rapidly expanded, Samsung continued scaling its customer support ecosystem. The late 1990s saw the growth of franchise service centres across the country, while 2003 marked another major milestone with the launch of Samsung’s first in-house call centre at Nehru Place in Delhi and the introduction of a toll-free customer support number.

Over the next two decades, Samsung steadily transformed customer service from a reactive support function into an integrated, technology-driven customer experience ecosystem.

Today, Samsung operates one of India’s largest customer service infrastructures with over 3,000 service touchpoints, 12,500+ trained engineers and 16 strategically located parts warehouses across the country.

“What truly defines Samsung’s customer service journey is how closely it has evolved alongside the lives of Indian consumers,” said Sunil Cutinha, Head, Customer Satisfaction, Samsung India.

“For us, customer service is not just a support function — it is a core part of the Samsung experience. Over the years, we have built a service ecosystem that combines scale, innovation and empathy. Whether through our extensive service network, contactless offerings like pick-up and drop, or next-generation service centres, our focus remains on delivering fast, transparent and reliable service that customers can trust every day,” he added.

Predictive Care

Samsung’s service ecosystem today extends far beyond physical service centres into AI-enabled proactive and connected care experiences.

Through SmartThings-enabled Proactive Care powered by Home Appliances Remote Management (HRM), Samsung appliances can proactively detect performance issues and notify customers even before disruptions occur. Refrigerators can alert users if cooling efficiency drops unexpectedly, while air conditioners can proactively communicate maintenance requirements.

Customers today can access 24×7 support through toll-free helplines, WhatsApp assistance, remote diagnostics and online appointment booking platforms. Samsung’s voice support services are available in 10 Indian languages, helping make customer support more accessible across regions.

The company has also strengthened digital-first support offerings such as Pick and Drop service for smartphones and the Digital Service Center platform, which provides self-help videos, troubleshooting support and transparent pricing information.

AI-driven customer support technologies — including intelligent co-pilots, speech-to-text systems and sentiment analysis tools — are additionally helping service teams respond faster and more empathetically to customer concerns.

Relationships that Last Forever

“Samsung has been a part of my life for three decades now. Our first television was a Samsung, and later the first smartphone I bought for my son was a Galaxy device. What has remained constant over the years is the trust and reliability associated with the brand,” said Sanjeev Gupta, a long-time Samsung customer from Ludhiana, Punjab.

Over the years, Samsung has also nurtured an ecosystem of service professionals through four training academies and its long-term skilling initiative, Dost Service. Through its partnerships with 22 ITIs, Samsung Dost Service has trained over 14,500 service engineers across India.

Extending Care into Sustainability

Samsung is also integrating sustainability into its customer care ecosystem through initiatives such as Care for Clean India, which promotes responsible e-waste disposal and recycling through authorized recyclers.

From Service Centres to Connected Care

As Samsung marks 30 years in India, its customer service journey reflects more than the evolution of technology. It reflects the evolution of care itself — from handwritten registers and pagers to AI-powered connected homes and predictive support, while continuing to place customer trust at the centre of innovation.

Iconic Imagery From a Cultural Phenomenon

Since its debut in 2016, “Stranger Things” has been one of the defining titles behind Netflix’s rise as the world’s leading entertainment service. The series became a global megahit, driving viewership and conversation across regions and generations. Following the release of Season 5, Part 1 on Nov. 27, 2025, it ranked No. 1 in 91 countries and recorded 59.6 million views in its first five days, marking the strongest opening performance for an English-language series on Netflix to date. It also became the first series in Netflix history to place all five seasons in the Global Top 10 at the same time, holding that record for five consecutive weeks. All episodes from the final season are now streaming globally, only on Netflix.

Samsung’s exclusive content inspired by Season 5 builds on that momentum. Available from Jan. 12 through Feb. 22, the collection includes a special theme and five wallpapers featuring live-action characters and settings from the show, including Hawkins and the Upside Down. Reflecting the unique atmosphere of the show, the visuals allow fans to bring elements of the series into their everyday lives.

Samsung Electronics, a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, today unveiled a new roster of Team Samsung Galaxy athletes for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. The new team brings together 68 athletes across 17 countries, representing both Olympic and Paralympic sports. Each member of Team Samsung Galaxy was selected for their personal journey — one that embodies openness both on and off the field of play.

Bringing “Open always wins” to the Road to Milano Cortina 2026

The athletes will share their journeys on the road to the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and help deliver Samsung’s central message for Milano Cortina 2026, “Open always wins.” First introduced at Paris 2024, the theme returns to the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games as a reflection of Samsung’s belief that, with an open mind, anything is possible. Team Samsung Galaxy will deliver this message to fans around the world by sharing personal stories that reflect how openness guides their lives and careers.

“Athletes and fans are at the heart of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Samsung is proud to help bring them closer together and make moments more connected — from how athletes share their journeys to how fans experience the Olympic and Paralympic Games,” said Sophia Kim, VP and Head of Experience Marketing Group, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “Together with Team Samsung Galaxy, we will open up new perspectives and infinite possibilities throughout the Games, that is our message ‘Open always wins’ to the fans and communities.”

Athletes Who Bring Openness to Life

With a strong presence across nine key disciplines — including snowboarding, speed skating, skiing, bobsleigh and cross-country skiing — sports that embody creativity, expression and performance under pressure, the Team Samsung Galaxy roster represents the diversity of winter sports.

<Alysa Liu>

For Milano Cortina 2026, Team Samsung Galaxy includes Olympic freestyle skiing champion Alex Hall (USA), freestyle skier siblings Miro and Flora Tabanelli (ITA), an innovative performer of world-first snowboarding tricks Ian Matteoli (ITA), multiple-time short track speed skating World Champion and Olympic medalist Minjeong Choi (KOR), Freestyle skiing World Champion Zoe Atkin (GB) and two-time snowboarding Olympic gold medalist Anna Gasser (AUT). In alpine skiing, Arthur Bauchet (FRA) holds multiple Paralympic and World Championship titles, while Adam Žampa (SVK) brings depth of experience on the international stage. Team Samsung Galaxy for Milano Cortina 2026 also boasts figure skating elites including World Champion Alysa Liu (USA) and two-time World Champion Ilia Malinin (USA).

Across sports and borders, each Team Samsung Galaxy athlete brings the spirit of openness to life in their own personal way. Shaped by their creativity, resilience and a willingness to explore what’s possible, their journeys extend beyond competition to inspire fans around the world — demonstrating how an open mindset can influence not only performance but everyday life, on and off the road to Milano Cortina 2026.

For Ian Matteoli, openness is expressed through bold creativity. One of Italy’s brightest young snowboarders, he made history as the first rider to land a frontside 2160 in competition — a moment that showcased both technical mastery and an open, fearless approach to progression. Raised in a snowboarding family, his journey has been shaped by a determined comeback from serious injury fighting his way back to top form. As part of a generation that views the sport as both performance and lifestyle, Ian bridges snowboarding and skateboarding, carrying an open mindset as he represents his country at Milano Cortina 2026.

“Snowboarding has always been part of my life as more than just a sport. It’s a way of expressing who I am,” said Ian. “After my injury, I changed how I approached snowboarding and life, pushing myself to come back stronger, more creative and more connected to why I love this sport. Representing Italy on home soil is incredibly special, and having the support of Samsung motivates me to keep pushing creatively.”

<Mike Schultz>

For Mike Schultz, openness is expressed through reinvention and resilience. After a life-changing accident, he rebuilt his athletic journey by staying open to new ways of thinking, training and creating — transforming challenges into opportunity by engineering his own prosthetic to return to elite competition. Through an open mindset grounded in creativity and adaptability, Mike continues to evolve his approach to performance and recovery, winning three Paralympic medals and multiple World Championship titles. His story shows how openness can turn adversity into purposeful progress.

“If it wasn’t for creativity, I wouldn’t be where I am today. After my accident, I had to completely reimagine how I trained and recovered. Staying open to new ideas and using technology to better understand my body helped me rebuild with confidence,” said Mike. “It’s surreal to be part of Team Samsung Galaxy, given how tools like digital health platform have supported my progress, allowing me to train smarter and keep moving forward as an athlete.”

<Alex Hall>

Alex Hall diversified his career path by establishing a ski film brand that documents urban and backcountry skiing. Raised in Zurich before moving to Park City, he grew up across two continents and brings a global perspective to freestyle skiing that blends technical precision with artistic expression. Off the slopes, his pioneering mindset carries over into filmmaking, where he draws inspiration for his new tricks while avoiding mental fatigue. His ability to blend sports, art and storytelling makes him one of the most creative voices in freestyle skiing today.

“I’m proud to be part of Team Samsung Galaxy and represent a brand that brings athletes and communities together on a global scale,” said Alex. “To me, there are no limits in sports. Everyone can express themselves in their own way, and Samsung empowers us to do this on and off the snow with its technology.”

<Minjeong Choi>

Minjeong Choi expresses openness by inspiring young short track speed skaters through her own experiences. As a double Olympic champion in Women’s 1,500m and multiple world record holder in speed skating, her story of sustained excellence under pressure — and a constant willingness to evolve — opens up new perspectives for future generations. Admired for her leadership, her passion to continuously adjust, learn and lead reflects how openness fuels longevity and performance as an elite athlete.

“I’m happy to rejoin Team Samsung Galaxy after the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022,” said Minjeong. “Team Samsung Galaxy has always inspired people to open up more possibilities through sport. At the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, I will continue creating a positive impact with Team Samsung Galaxy.”

Continuing the Journey to Milano Cortina 2026

With Team Samsung Galaxy, Samsung reaffirms its long-standing commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic Movement. As the world looks ahead to Milano Cortina 2026, Samsung will spotlight authentic athlete stories that go beyond results alone — reinforcing openness as a value that connects athletes, fans and communities around the world through technology. Additional information on “Open always wins” and Samsung’s support for the Olympic Winter Games will be released as the Road to Milano Cortina 2026 continues.

Today, anyone can capture professional-quality photos and videos with a single smartphone. At the heart of this transformation lies Galaxy’s camera technology — enabling users to cherish every moment without the need for a heavy camera.

Samsung Electronics has achieved numerous firsts in mobile camera performance and technology since the pre-smartphone era. From the Galaxy S’s 5-megapixel (MP) rear camera in 2010 — at the dawn of the smartphone era — to the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s 200 MP ultra-high-resolution camera, 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera and suite of Galaxy AI editing features, Samsung has continuously redefined what a smartphone camera can do.

“Always one step ahead” — For the past 15 years, Samsung has always been one step ahead, pushing mobile photography to new heights and ushering in a new era of Galaxy camera technology. Explore this groundbreaking journey in the infographic below.

Following the successful debut of XCover7 Rugged Smartphone in Feb 2024, the Galaxy Tab Active5 Enterprise Edition in India, with its heightened performance, will meet the needs of demanding and rigorous sectors such as defense, public safety, logistics, manufacturing, healthcare, retail and services.

Furthermore, the tab is equipped with an all-day replaceable battery and No-Battery Mode for continuous use while connected to a power source. This is ideal for vehicle automation, public safety, defense, retail kiosks, factory floors, logistics hubs, and visits to rural regions.

One major update is Theft Protection – a multi-layered suite of features developed to safeguard personal data, even in high-risk situations such as robbery.

Theft Protection builds on standard Android safeguards, which are effective in typical theft scenarios where the thief doesn’t know the user’s PIN. With One UI 7, Samsung goes further by introducing additional protections that address more advanced or high-risk threat scenarios, including cases where access credentials may have been exposed.

Galaxy users can now enable a range of new security measures, including Identity Check, an opt-in feature designed to offer stronger protection in complex theft scenarios. These features respond automatically and intelligently to suspicious activity, helping ensure that personal data remains secure and under the user’s control in these critical moments.

Existing and updated features in Theft Protection include:

Theft Detection Lock: This uses machine learning to detect motions associated with theft such as snatching, and instantly locks the screen to prevent unauthorised access.

Offline Device Lock: The screen gets automatically locked if the device is disconnected from the network for an extended period, ensuring protection even when the device is offline.

Remote Lock: If the device has already been stolen, the user can lock it remotely using his/her phone number and a quick verification step. Remote Lock also allows users to regain control of their accounts and explore additional recovery options.

New Anti-Robbery features released on One UI 7 include:

Identity Check: In unfamiliar locations, the Safe Places feature (accessible via Identity Check) requires biometric authentication for any changes to sensitive security settings, adding an additional layer of protection when a PIN may have been compromised.

Security Delay: A key component of Identity Check, it triggers a one-hour waiting period if someone attempts to reset biometric data. This crucial buffer gives users time to lock the stolen phone from a connected device, such as a PC or tablet, before unauthorised access can occur.

These updated theft features are devices with One UI 7, with future updates OS planned for even more Galaxy smartphones.

One UI 8 is coming, and early access is now available through its beta program — kicking off a new era of software intelligence that brings a true multimodal AI agent designed for various Samsung Galaxy form factors.

One UI is Samsung’s integrated software platform, designed to help Galaxy devices simplify everyday routines and enhance productivity and convenience. Thanks to the mutual partnership between Samsung and Google, One UI 8 will debut on Samsung’s newest foldables this summer and will gradually expand to more Galaxy devices so users can now enjoy an enriched, more personalized mobile experience with the latest version of Android.

Through open communication, Samsung and Google actively shared their respective design systems and real-time feedback with one another, accelerating software development that made One UI 8 one of the first UI platforms to adopt Android 16.

In addition to being the first generation of upgrades to launch alongside new foldable devices, the launch of One UI 8 also initiates a new rhythm for Samsung’s software evolution with major UX and AI updates. You can get a first glimpse of this innovation by signing up for the beta program kicking off today, starting with the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra in Germany, Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Personalized AI for Seamless, Natural Interactions

The official rollout of One UI 8 will introduce an AI experience that will make your everyday smarter and more convenient by enhancing the AI features first introduced in the Galaxy S25 series. There are three main factors that realize this: multimodal capabilities, UX tailored to different device form factors, and personalized, proactive suggestions. Intelligent multimodality enables you to have natural, seamless communication with AI that understands what you’re looking at or watching in the moment. The updated UX is optimized for the unique form factors across the Galaxy product portfolio, boosting your everyday productivity and efficiency. One UI 8 will also recognize your context, offering personalized, proactive suggestions that support your unique daily routine. Features like Now Bar1 and Now Brief2 will deliver even more customized insights and suggestions to help you stay on top of tasks and support your daily routine, through curated AI information.

This intelligent, personalized AI experience did not just come out of nowhere. It is made possible by robust security that safeguards your data. Samsung Knox Vault combines a dedicated secure processor with secure memory to isolate sensitive data from the rest of your user data and ensure that no one else can physically or remotely reach your personal information. One UI 8 also provides settings where you can choose to process data only on the device, as many of our Galaxy AI experiences use both on-device and cloud-based AI processing. With transparency and user choice at its core, One UI 8 will deliver a personalized AI experience without compromising privacy.

Enhanced Everyday Convenience

One UI 8 is not only about providing the AI experience, but also includes convenient, intuitive tools designed to make your day-to-day experiences with your mobile devices even more seamless. Auracast3 — a broadcast audio technology based on Bluetooth LE Audio4 — will support effortless audio connection via QR code scanning and sharing, allowing multiple Auracast devices5 — like Galaxy Buds3 and hearing aids — to join a shared audio stream without the hassle of a complex manual setup. Additionally, customer support at repair centers will be faster and more convenient, thanks to QR- and NFC-enabled support6 accessible right in Samsung Account. You can now register with QR or NFC without having to write any registration forms, reducing wait times and simplifying service requests.

The Reminder app will be your travel supporter with more convenient and intuitive features. If you are planning a trip to New York with your family, you can manage all your reminders in one place as soon as you open the app with a UX that is easy-looking even for first-time users. You can also share a list of to-dos for your trip with the press of a button. When your hands are full of shopping bags, you can use your voice to add reminders on the go as it is voice enabled.

Sharing memories with family and friends will also be easier than ever with enhanced Quick Share.7 A single tap of the Quick Share button in the Quick settings panel will let you instantly send and receive files.

The future of Galaxy AI starts now. Sign up through the Samsung Members app to be among the first to experience the power of One UI 8.

Samsung Electronics is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its collaboration with Seatrees that leverages Galaxy camera to restore damaged marine ecosystems. Samsung has long been committed to protecting marine ecosystems. Beginning with the Galaxy S22 series, the company started recycling discarded fishing nets and incorporating the material into its smartphones. This practice has since expanded across the Galaxy ecosystem — including tablets, laptops and wearable devices. Building on these efforts, Samsung is now supporting coral reef restoration through technological innovation. Samsung Newsroom highlights how this initiative is part of the company’s broader commitment to the world’s oceans.

Supporting Marine Ecosystems Through Global Collaboration

Introduced at Galaxy Unpacked in January 2025, Coral in Focus is an initiative launched last year that supports local communities, including Fiji, Indonesia and the United States, to restore coastal ecosystems.

Samsung has partnered with Seatrees, a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring marine ecosystems, to explore new, innovative solutions for coral reef restoration. The company has introduced Ocean Mode1 on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, an exclusive camera feature that enables vivid image capture even underwater. These images provide accurate visual data for marine researchers who create 3D photogrammetry models to continuously monitor and analyze coral reefs. Local partner organizations then use these findings to guide their on-site coral restoration efforts.

Ocean Mode: How Galaxy Camera Innovation Is Helping Restore Coral Reefs

Partners and local field teams use Ocean Mode to reduce the excessive blue tones common in underwater photography, allowing for a more accurate representation of coral colors. The feature also helps minimize motion blur through optimized shutter speed and multi-frame image processing. Additionally, the interval shooting function enables thousands of high-resolution coral images to be captured in a single session — improving both efficiency and image clarity.

With these coral restoration initiatives, photos taken with Ocean Mode have been used to produce 17 3D models of coral reefs to analyze the health and growth of reefs. In total, 11,046 coral fragments were planted to restore 10,705 square meters of coral reef habitat — roughly the size of 25 basketball courts.

Since unveiling its “Galaxy for the Planet” environmental vision in 2021, Samsung has continued its efforts toward a more sustainable future — not only by incorporating ocean-bound plastics from discarded fishing nets into its products but also by expanding into marine ecosystem restoration. These actions reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to reducing its environmental impact across the entire product life cycle and beyond.

1 Ocean Mode was exclusively developed for this project and is only available to participating partners.
