Samsung, India’s largest consumer electronics brand, today announced that 5,000 students in Tamil Nadu have been trained and certified under its flagship Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) programme, reinforcing its commitment to building a future-ready workforce and supporting the state’s growing electronics and innovation ecosystem.

SIC equips students with industry-relevant, future-tech skills across high-demand domains — Artificial Intelligence (2,200), Coding and Programming (1,700), Big Data (600) and Internet of Things (500) — enabling them to transition more effectively from education to employment. In addition, it focuses on soft skills to boost employability, combining technical training with modules on problem-solving, communication and workplace readiness.

Tamil Nadu accounts for nearly one-fourth of the 20,000 youth trained across India under the programme, underlining the state’s importance as a key hub for technology, manufacturing and skilled talent development. Notably, 71% of the participants in Tamil Nadu are women, reflecting strong progress in expanding access to technology education and enabling more women to participate in the digital economy.

Training and certification were conducted in collaboration with leading institutions across the state, including University of Madras, Anna University, Queen Mary’s College (Chennai), Mohamed Sathak AJ College of Engineering (Chennai), and KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology (Coimbatore).

“India’s growth story is being shaped by its young, skilled workforce, with Tamil Nadu playing a leading role in this transformation. As technology reshapes industries, the need for a future-ready workforce is more critical than ever. Building digital skills at scale, while ensuring inclusion, will be key to sustaining India’s growth momentum. As Samsung completes 30 years in India, we are enabling youth to develop capabilities aligned with the evolving needs of the global economy through Samsung Innovation Campus,” said Shubham Mukherjee, Head of CSR and Corporate Communications, Samsung Southwest Asia.

The programme continues to expand its reach, training and certifying 20,000 youth across the country. Nationally, SIC has witnessed around 48% women participation, reflecting Samsung’s commitment to building an inclusive and equitable technology ecosystem. The programme is implemented in collaboration with ESSCI and the TSSC through accredited training partners.

SIC, together with initiatives such as Samsung Solve for Tomorrow and Samsung DOST, is helping strengthen India’s digital skilling ecosystem—empowering young innovators to learn, build, and shape the future through technology. Marking 30 years in India, Samsung continues to strengthen its commitment to advancing education and digital inclusion.

Samsung, India’s largest electronics brand, has certified 1,000 students at Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University in Coding & Programming, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things (IoT) under Samsung Innovation Campus. The milestone brings the total number of SIC-certified students in Uttar Pradesh to 4,900, making the state one of the programme’s most active and significant training grounds in the country.

The 1,000-strong cohort comprises students from three key institutions in Uttar Pradesh: Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University, Government Girls’ Polytechnic, and Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology for Divyangjan. Spanning three high-demand disciplines, the programme trained 600 students in AI, 300 in coding and programming, and 100 in IoT.

Launched in India in 2022, Samsung Innovation Campus focuses on expanding access to future-tech education to the youth. The curriculum is designed to go beyond technical instruction, embedding soft skills development and structured placement support to prepare students for the realities of the professional world—not just its entry points.

“India’s economic ambitions in the technology sector will ultimately be defined by how many young people are equipped with the right skills at the right time. These students from Samsung Innovation Campus represent a clear commitment to ensuring that Uttar Pradesh’s young talent participates in, and shapes, the global digital economy. With this programme, we are building a talent pipeline for the long run,” said Shubham Mukherjee, Head, CSR & Corporate Communications, Samsung Southwest Asia.

“Universities today cannot afford to be spectators as the world of work is being restructured around automation and digital intelligence. Our partnership with Samsung Innovation Campus is a direct response to that reality, giving our students not just knowledge but the applied capabilities that employers are actively seeking. I congratulate this graduating cohort and commend Samsung for making this investment in Uttar Pradesh’s future,” said Shri Yogendra Upadhyaya, Hon’ble Minister of Higher Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh.

The programme continues to expand its reach, with a target of training 20,000 youth across the country, reinforcing the company’s view that inclusive access to future-ready education is not peripheral to India’s growth story—it is central to it.

Nationally, the programme has recorded around 45% women participation, reflecting Samsung’s commitment to building an inclusive and equitable technology ecosystem. The programme is implemented in collaboration with ESSCI and the Telecom Sector Skills Council (TSSC) through accredited training partners.

Together with initiatives such as Samsung Solve for Tomorrow and Samsung DOST, Samsung Innovation Campus is helping strengthen India’s digital skilling ecosystem—empowering young innovators to learn, build, and shape the future through technology.

As a curious four-year-old, Himanshu Srivastava watched in awe as his father introduced him to their first computer, sparking an early fascination with technology. That moment ignited a passion for coding, leading him to build his first AI pong game at just nine years old. Today, Himanshu is a software engineer at a startup, turning his childhood dreams into a reality—thanks to the transformative power of Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC).

Hailing from Bihar and raised in West Bengal, Himanshu’s journey reflects resilience, curiosity, and the hunger to learn. While pursuing his degree at CIT in Bengaluru, he immersed himself in ideathons and contests, consistently earning accolades. But the turning point arrived when he discovered the SIC programme at Samsung R&D Institute India-Bangalore (SRI-B).

Aligned with the Government of India’s #SkillIndia and #DigitalIndia initiatives, SIC, Samsung’s flagship CSR initiative, focuses on improving the employability of the youth by training them in high-demand tech fields such as AI, Internet of Things, Big Data and Coding & Programming.

For Himanshu, SIC’s hands-on AI/ML curriculum stood apart from traditional theoretical courses. “The programme wasn’t just about learning concepts—it was about solving real-world problems with technology,” he said. Under the guidance of seasoned mentors, Himanshu sharpened his technical expertise, published a research paper and gained confidence to tackle complex problems.

Now, at Bik AI, Himanshu applies the critical thinking and problem-solving skills instilled in him through SIC. “The real-world challenges I face daily are much easier to manage thanks to the preparation I received inside and outside the classrooms at campus,” he said.

For Himanshu, SIC wasn’t just an opportunity—it was the catalyst that transformed his passion into a thriving career. His story is a testament to the power of practical learning and the impact of programmes such as SIC in nurturing the tech leaders of tomorrow.

Bixby frees you to focus on what matters the most. It quickly learns what you like to do and works with your favourite apps and services to help you get more done immediately.

So that you can do more and have the best of a connected living experience, Samsung has launched the Bixby Home Platform (BHP) for controlling smart home devices with added intelligence using Bixby Voice.

What used to require multiple voice commands is now possible with only a single voice command using the intelligence of BHP. Bixby works in tandem with Samsung’s Internet of Things (IoT) platform i.e. SmartThings to provide hands-free & convenient Smart Home Control via voice. Now, Bixby has taken this frictionless convenience a notch higher with the introduction of the Bixby Home Platform (BHP).

Read below to understand how Bixby helps with hands-free Smart Home Control and how the new Bixby Home Platform enhances this convenience further.

Bixby + SmartThings

Samsung’s SmartThings ecosystem connects millions of IoT devices and supports ever increasing number of manufacturers and developers. Using Bixby one can control all these devices with simple and intuitive voice commands.

Here is an illustration of how to control all living room lights at one go using Bixby:

Here are other voice commands through which Bixby can help user control the Smart Home devices in a typical day:

Bixby Home Platform – What’s in it for the Smart Home User

Imagine a situation where the user does not have to remember & spell out individual commands needed to set the AC temperature. i.e. remember that the AC is off, then turn it on first and then set the desired temperature.

Now just ask Bixby to “Set the temperature to 21C” and with the advanced home platform, Bixby will figure out all the steps needed to fulfil the user’s intention and ensure the AC temperature is set to 21C.

Bixby Home Platform – What’s in it for the Smart Home Device Manufacturer

Intelligent device control has been made possible by BHP. An intelligent block is plugged between Bixby Capsules (which interprets natural voice utterances) and SmartThings. Commands that needed to be issued and executed as per the device state, now can be intelligently programmed by the developer through BHP.

This intelligent control flow graph is developed by device developers as per the supported custom controls and capabilities of the device

This intelligent control flow graph is developed by device developers as per the supported custom controls and capabilities of the device.

BHP provides easy to use drag and drop tool called Bixby Home Studio to define the intelligent control flow for the device. Control flow can be defined based on the state of the device, model of the device, capabilities supported by the device, etc.

Using Bixby Home Studio, device developers can define the device control flow logic, test it with the connected devices and deploy the flow logic into the production for real usage. Below image shows the AC control flow created using Bixby Home Studio.

Nodes seen in the control graph above makes the flow based on the state of the AC device for voice command “Set AC temperature to 21”.

Nodes seen in the control graph above makes the flow based on the state of the AC device for voice command “Set AC temperature to 21”.

BHP is live for Samsung Appliances and users can experience the convenience right away. Device manufacturers connected to SmartThings ecosystem can leverage BHP and enhance Voice control experience of their devices very soon. Bixby Home Platform and studio will soon be available for all the device manufacturers in the Year 2022.

There was a time, not so long ago, that the idea of a small device as the absolute center of all your communications was a fantasy. These days, most of us

There was a time, not so long ago, that the idea of a small device as the absolute center of all your communications was a fantasy. These days, most of us cannot remember what life was like before smartphones. When it comes to the Internet of Things (IoT), most people still see the idea of a seamlessly connected “smart” home as something well into the future; something we see in movies but beyond our reach. Despite compelling industry statistics (according to the technology experts at Gartner, in a little more than two years, there will be 20.4 billion connected devices in the world), the reality of IoT for many is one rife with complications and unanswered questions.

The visual of IoT is a compelling one: With a simple command or touch of a button, you can control the light bulbs in your living room, lock your back door and set the alarm for the garage door. And while developers and manufacturers all around the world are working hard to create their own smart IoT devices and solutions, few are compatible with each other. What this means for consumers who are keen to make their homes “smart” is a lot of work: how many different apps and what level of tech expertise will they need in order to have their devices work in sync? There are also concerns around privacy and security – surely all this technology means more risk of exposure. While there’s great appeal in the fantasy of the “smart” home, the barrier is all the work it will take to make this a reality.

Samsung believes in a future where our digital world is as ubiquitous and essential as electricity, with security so effective you almost won’t have to think about it. It will just work, on demand and just the way you want it; no need to interact with many different apps to achieve results. With our unified approach, we will deliver a truly integrated experience that touches every single “thing” around our customers – while ensuring privacy and security.

For over 40 years, the user experience is what has driven Samsung to develop technologies that – to put it simply – make people’s lives easier. While the features and products are important, the inspiration behind our IoT offering is the same: the tangible benefits for consumers. With Samsung Connect bringing together our appliances, TVs and other everyday items (such as light bulbs and locks) to one touch control on your smartphone, ARTIK as our secure IoT platform, and of course, with SmartThings’ open and easy integration solution , we are closer than ever in transforming the “smart” home fantasy into a reality. What’s more, with the introduction of new cellular network infrastructure that can better support IoT, we are looking to expand the IoT experience beyond the boundaries of the smart home. Most importantly, we are removing the barriers and bringing them all together in one, integrated IoT experience.

Recently at the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC 2017), we announced SmartThings Cloud, which will unite all of our IoT clouds into a single powerful platform. Through this new platform and vision for more powerful intelligence through Bixby 2.0, also announced at SDC 2017, we are working to democratize IoT with intelligence that is easy to use and accessible for everyone.

The newly united SmartThings will be an open ecosystem, ready to work with not only Samsung devices, but a wide range of connected devices. From early next year, consumers will have the freedom to choose from the world’s broadest range of IoT devices and control them using just a single app. Whether it’s price or design or functionality driving their purchase decision, consumers can now select devices that suit their budget and lifestyle with no constraints. This spirit of simplicity is also relevant to developers, as they need to code for just one single API to give their products and services instant compatibility across over 1 billion devices. Additionally, it’s a cloud that is designed for intelligence not as a bolt-on. The end result is a seamless experience that will enhance the lives of our consumers in a way they’ve only dreamed of.

As part of the world’s largest open ecosystem of IoT devices, with products that ‘Works with SmartThings’ or even ‘Works as SmartThings Hub,’ our partners are integral in delivering this ultimate seamless experience to consumers. Many are already harnessing the power and simplicity of the SmartThings Cloud to bring next-generation solutions to their customers. We want to help them drive change through scale and have a unique opportunity to grow their IoT business.

With the new and – most importantly – open SmartThings Cloud, Samsung is connecting the fabric of the IoT experience and leading the democratization of the Internet of Things. Imagine turning on your favorite playlist, adding a few items to your shopping list and dimming the living room lights with simple voice commands, all in quick succession. Imagine devices from different manufacturers and service providers no longer jostling for supremacy – they all just simply work together. This is what meaningful changes in technology ultimately delivers: A better, more enhanced experience that exceeds consumers’ expectations and simply delivers more.
