The Pune facility is the first new FläktGroup manufacturing facility to become operational since Samsung Electronics completed its acquisition of the global HVAC specialist in November 2025, marking an important milestone in the integration of the two companies and their strategy to expand Samsung’s global HVAC business. Strategically located near Mumbai and major logistics infrastructure, the plant will help supply HVAC solutions more quickly to customers not only in India but also across the Asia-Pacific region. 

Samsung Electronics held a ceremony at the new facility on August 12, attended by Cheolgi Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Digital Appliance (DA) Business, David Dorney, CEO, FläktGroup, executives from both companies, and representatives from major customers. The event was attended by over 100 people.

“The completion of the production line in Pune, India, marks a significant milestone in expanding our HVAC supply beyond India to the broader Asia-Pacific region. By combining Samsung’s AI and platform technologies with FläktGroup’s HVAC expertise, we will deliver exceptional value to a diverse range of customers, including AI data centers,” said Cheolgi Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Digital Appliance (DA) Business.

The new production facility, including the production line, office, and auxiliary facilities, covers an area of approximately 13,826 square meters. The facility moved from equipment installation to mass production in just six months. FläktGroup plans to progressively expand production to up to 6,500 HVAC units annually.

The Pune plant will manufacture a broad portfolio of FläktGroup solutions, including its flagship Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Wall Units (FWUs) and Computer Air Handlers (CRAHs) for AI data centres and other critical infrastructure.

AHUs use chilled water to cool indoor environments while helping maintain air quality and are widely deployed in data centres and large commercial buildings. FWUs use multiple high-capacity fans to efficiently remove heat from server environments, while CRAHs provide precision temperature, humidity and air-quality management for mission-critical IT equipment.

The new facility builds on FläktGroup’s plants in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Together, its Greater Noida and Pune operations will strengthen local manufacturing, improve customer responsiveness and support Samsung’s ambition to build a stronger HVAC business in India, for India and the wider Asia-Pacific region. By combining FläktGroup’s specialised HVAC and critical-cooling expertise with Samsung’s AI and technology capabilities, global reach and scale, the companies aim to accelerate the development and delivery of next-generation cooling solutions for AI data centres and other high-growth infrastructure sectors.

Across Maharashtra, Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) is helping make that transition possible by equipping young women with industry-relevant AI skills, hands-on learning and real-world project experience that prepares them for careers in emerging technologies.

Samsung’s flagship future-tech skilling programme has trained more than 26,500 young people across India, including over 1,000 students in Maharashtra, creating greater access to AI education and helping more young women confidently pursue careers in technology.

For Himanshi Sharma, a student at Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology (RAIT), Navi Mumbai, Samsung Innovation Campus became the bridge between classroom learning and the rapidly evolving AI industry.

“I often wondered whether my academic knowledge alone would prepare me for the rapidly evolving AI industry,” she says.

Through hands-on AI training, project-based learning and expert mentorship, Himanshi developed CareerStack AI, an AI-powered Resume Intelligence System that helps job seekers improve their applications through AI-driven insights. She has since secured an internship as an AI & Data Technology Intern at Blue Sapphire, a US-based company, contributing to client-facing and patent-filed projects.

“Instead of viewing AI as just a collection of algorithms, I learned how to build complete solutions for real-world challenges. You don’t need to know everything before you begin. What matters is the willingness to learn, stay curious and keep improving every day,” she says.

For Sunidhishree Prabhakaran, a Computer Engineering student at DY Patil Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology, the programme strengthened her technical capabilities and confidence to pursue opportunities in AI and data-driven technologies.

After completing Samsung Innovation Campus, she secured a placement at Capgemini, demonstrating how industry-aligned skilling can help young women successfully transition from education to employment.

“Samsung Innovation Campus provided me with valuable exposure to Artificial Intelligence through structured training, assignments and expert guidance. The hands-on learning experience strengthened my technical, analytical and presentation skills while helping me apply theoretical concepts to real-world challenges,” she says.

Implemented in collaboration with the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) and the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) under the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Samsung Innovation Campus equips young people with practical skills in Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies while supporting the vision of Skill India and Digital India.

As Samsung marks 30 years in India, Samsung Innovation Campus is helping expand opportunities for young women to participate in India’s growing AI economy. From the dynamic classrooms of Pune to the imaginative spaces of Kolhapur and the inquisitive minds of Vadodara, the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow roadshows have sparked a surge of creativity and purpose across Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Launched on April 29, 2025, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is a pan-India competition that empowers students with tools, mentorship, and resources to address real-world challenges through technology. With guidance from Samsung leaders, IIT Delhi faculty, and support for prototyping, the programme awards INR 1 crore to the top four teams. However, its true essence lies in motivating young minds to dream ambitiously and act decisively.

Recent roadshows at DPS School and Munsukhbhai Kothari School in Pune, SPSMBH College of Architecture and NIT Sabhagruh in Kolhapur, and New Era School and Anand Vidya Vihar School in Vadodara highlighted the programme’s transformative influence.

In Pune, Aakash, a class 11 student, arrived with a vague concept but left with a clear vision for sustainable packaging. “Samsung Solve for Tomorrow showed me I can turn this idea into reality,” he expressed.

In Vadodara, Rohan from Anand Vidya Vihar designed wireframes for a mobile app aimed at making education accessible for remote learners. “I want to ensure children like my cousin aren’t left behind,” he shared.

In Kolhapur, architecture student Ishan found inspiration in leveraging technology to revive local crafts. “It’s about connecting the past with the future,” he explained.

Throughout the sessions, students proposed innovative solutions — from smart agriculture tools to mental health platforms and affordable solar innovations. What united them was a shared commitment to driving change and a belief in their potential.

“These ideas are driven by empathy,” remarked a teacher at the Pune event. “They’re creating solutions to help others, not for recognition.”

The roadshows introduced design thinking, encouraging students to question, empathise, define, and prototype. It was about understanding the ‘why’ behind the ‘what.’

As Samsung Solve for Tomorrow continues to grow, its impact is evident: it’s not just fostering innovation but shaping a future where classroom ideas can transform the world.

Created with articulately drawn lines and dots in vibrant colors, Gond painting is a famous folk art of the Gond tribal community of central India. Blended with mystery, pattern, blend of colours and humour, this tribal art form is practiced by one of the largest tribes in India – the Gond – who are predominantly from Madhya Pradesh, but can also be found in pockets of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. The history of the Gond people dates nearly 1400 years.
