Secure Wi-Fi:

With Samsung’s Secure Wi-Fi, you can work from wherever you’re most comfortable. This feature lets you browse the internet safely, even when using unsecured, public Wi-Fi networks, offering complete and secure protection by encrypting internet traffic. For enhanced privacy protection, you can even route your internet traffic through two separate relays so no one can access your IP address. This is especially effective when you’re working remotely in public spaces.

To use Secure Wi-Fi, go to Settings, Security and Privacy, and select More Security Settings. From there, tap into Secure Wi-Fi, and you’re on your way. You can also add the Secure Wi-Fi icon directly to your home screen for easy access to the app.

Samsung Internet brings user-centric security and privacy features to web browsing, enabling you to freely browse your favorite websites while keeping your privacy protected. Under Samsung Internet, we’ve created a myriad of features all geared towards keeping you and your online experience safe.

First, the browser offers a comprehensive overview of how it protects your web experience, detailed in your Privacy Dashboard, available via the Quick Access page. This offers a detailed record of weekly activities and settings that can be adjusted to suit your privacy preferences, whenever you choose. To find this, go to the browser, tap the three lines icon, and select Privacy.

For extra security, Samsung Internet also enables private environments with Secret Mode. This could come in handy while shopping for a gift you want to keep a surprise from anyone who might have access to your device. With this option, you’ll get the same browsing experience as you would normally experience on Samsung Internet, but with extra privacy and protection. Cookies and browsing history for any websites you visit in Secret Mode will be deleted from your phone as soon as all your Secret Mode tabs are closed. You can even save pages and bookmarks, but anything you save will only be visible in Secret Mode. To use this feature, go to Samsung Internet, and from the main screen, tap on the Tab Manager icon on the bottom where you can manage your open pages. Activate Secret Mode by tapping “Turn on Secret mode”.

Samsung Internet also provides the AI-powered Smart Anti-tracking function, which is turned on by default. This feature helps to block cookies and third-parties attempting to track your personal information, as well as preventing cross-site trackers from using techniques for getting around tracker blocking. Smart Anti-tracking also lets you default to a safer HTTPS setting when typing a URL and can detect and apply protection against domains that collude with classified trackers. To use Smart Anti-tracking, go into the Privacy Dashboard within Samsung Internet, and tap Smart Anti-tracking.

Finally, Samsung Internet enables Ad Blocker. We know that when you’re browsing you might encounter ads that you want to get rid of for a more seamless experience. That’s why we’ve enabled you to download third-party ad blockers. To block ads via Samsung Internet, launch the Samsung Internet app and tap the three lines icon (menu), before selecting Ad blockers. Here, we’ll recommend a selection of blockers for you to choose from and download.

Organise your tabs

Samsung Internet now comes with a ‘Tab Group’ feature. The feature enables user to group the tabs and further rename, share, modify and reorder the tab group. This is another leap towards an enhanced and user-friendly browsing experience. To group the tabs, select ‘more’ from tabs section and then tap on ‘Group tabs’. You can also choose the tabs you want to group together and provide name to the tab group.

Personalise your menu

Samsung Internet gives you the flexibility to optimise your menu options as per your convenience. You can choose the options you want to see and also reorganise the options in the order that you want.

The user privacy dashboard on Samsung Internet provides a detailed record of weekly activities, and how Samsung internet is protecting and enhancing its user’s web experience. The privacy dashboard is easily accessible via Quick Access page.

Secret Mode

The “Secret mode” on Samsung Internet is committed to data security and privacy and lets you browse without leaving any traces in your browsing history. The bookmarks or saved pages only appear in secret mode while the browsing history, cache, cookies etc. are wiped out as soon as the user exits secret mode.

Add-ons

Committed to enhancing the user’s web browsing experience, Samsung Internet gives you the flexibility to add certain extensions to your browser using the “Add-ons” feature.

Users have access to extensions such as translator and ad blocker. These extensions come in very handy and can be easily accessed via ‘Add-ons’ option in ‘More’ menu of the browser.

Improved Private Browsing With Smart Anti-Tracking and Enhanced Phishing Detection

Samsung Internet 18.0 brought improvements to the Smart anti-tracking functionality, helping prevent cross-site trackers from using techniques for getting around tracker blocking. This Smart anti-tracking prevented trackers from using advanced redirecting techniques such as Canonical Name (CNAME) cloaking or delayed bounce to collect user data.

Now, this latest iteration of Samsung Internet will take the AI-powered function a step further. Enhanced Smart anti-tracking aims to detect domains that collude with classified trackers and immediately apply protection.

Improved lookalike phishing detection is designed to warn users when they have unwittingly navigated to what they thought was a trusted website but is a fraudulent site using a similar URL — so they don’t reveal personal information to malicious actors.

Quickly Check Important Privacy Settings With the Tap of a Button

Samsung Internet 19.0 beta helps users easily check their tracking protection with the new Privacy Info feature. By simply tapping the Lock Icon in the address bar, users can verify how secure their connection is to the website, see how many trackers have been blocked, check for and delete cookies and instantly allow or block permissions for location, camera and microphone.²

Users can now also visualize how well their privacy settings are working with a chart showing the number of ads blocked per day for the past week.

Improvements for Navigating Swiftly and Simply — Even in Secret Mode

Navigating Samsung Internet was made simpler in version 18.0, which introduced text extraction from webpage images and rolled out the Bottom Toolbar for the first time in the Galaxy Z Fold series. Now, Samsung Internet 19.0 beta continues to make navigating the web more intuitive.

The Add-ons menu is a great way for users to personalize and enhance their browsing experience. With Samsung Internet 19.0 beta, these add-ons now work in Secret mode, so users don’t need to choose between privacy and customized experiences. The features can be turned on and off easily from the Add-ons menu, for greater control.

Samsung Internet users can also now enjoy a more connected browsing experience, with the ability to sync users’ bookmarks between PC Chrome browser and Samsung Internet mobile browsers by using Samsung Internet’s Chrome Extension.³ Users can easily access their favorite websites on their PC from bookmarks saved on their smartphones and vice versa.

Following the beta testing period, Samsung Internet 19.0 is planned to launch officially in 4Q 2022. If you are already a Samsung Internet user, you will receive a notification when the new version becomes available.

With Samsung Internet 17.0, a visual snapshot of a user’s privacy dashboard is available via the Quick Access page. This offers a detailed record of weekly activities and settings that can be adjusted to suit users’ privacy preferences.

Samsung Internet 15.0 beta protects users against fingerprinting – a technique that tracks network use to correlate information about users. Now, thanks to the enhanced anti-tracking technology, Samsung Internet 15.0 beta helps ensure user information remains private.

Samsung Internet 15.0 beta allows users to remove data stored on their devices and provides greater insight into what will be removed. Further, once the user activates Secret mode, the browser remains in Secret mode as a default, eliminating additional steps to activate the mode every time.

Quick Search and Fast Navigation

Samsung Internet 15.0 beta’s new, intuitive search widget makes it easier than ever to search for information from the home screen. It’s quick and easy. All they need to do is type or use their voice to search anything online.

To make the browsing experience even more hassle-free, Samsung Internet 15.0 beta temporarily stores previous web pages so users can quickly pull them back up without having to reload them, reducing data usage as users flick between pages.

A new Secret mode icon will also be displayed on the address bar as part of the Samsung Internet 13.0 update, so that it’s easier to know when it’s switched on. We introduced a series of new features and enhancements to make Samsung Internet even more user-friendly:

• You can now use High contrast mode with Dark mode on, to make fonts and other components stand out even more.
