Samsung R&D Institute India – Delhi (SRI-Delhi) organized Partner’s Day to foster meaningful collaborations with industry experts and turn innovative ideas into actions through partnerships.

Partner’s Day 2023 saw participation from seven dynamic companies and start-ups, each bringing a unique innovation and contributing to the vibrant tapestry of ideas. The event provided a platform for in-depth discussions, live demos, and Q&A sessions, showcasing the cutting-edge solutions and collaborative spirit that define the future of innovation.

Unparalleled Collaboration

Partner’s Day 2023 was more than a showcase of products and services; it celebrated collaboration. The event facilitated direct engagement with partners, offering a glimpse into the future of innovative solutions. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in deep-dive sessions with SRI-Delhi’s development teams, fostering a synergy that promises exciting possibilities on the horizon.

Turning Discussions into Partnership

As the shortlisting process for potential collaborations unfolds, SRI-Delhi thanks all the partners for their valuable contributions and enthusiasm. The decision-making process is underway, and the team is excited about the prospect of turning these promising discussions into lasting partnerships that will shape the future of our industry.

SRI-Delhi had invited YogiFi to last year’s Partners Meet, which included day-long discussions and demos of their Smart Yoga Mat that comprises of pressure points to detect and correct a user’s yoga postures.

YogiFi App was onboarded on Samsung TVs on International Yoga Day in June 2023. By merging Samsung’s unrivaled display technology with YogiFi’s innovative fitness solutions, we aim to offer an immersive and interactive yoga experience that’s truly ahead of its time.

The product was also showcased at IFA & SDC ’23.

At SRI-Delhi, the mental health of employees has always been a top priority. Taking active steps to cultivate a mentally healthy culture, SRI-Delhi conducted a week-long awareness campaign called “झमेला – The Joyous Chaos” to highlight the significance of various mental health facets and to make it more commonplace among the employees. All the events planned during this week witnessed an overwhelming response from the employees. Their enthusiastic response made the event a huge hit.

The celebration kicked off with SRI-Delhi’s first ever street play “Mind-it”, which was conceptualized, written and performed by the employees. The intent of the street play was to emphasize the prevailing stigma surrounding mental health and help the audience understand the severity of various psychological disorders. The narrations and the songs made the street play rather relatable for the audience, leaving a lasting imprint on people’s minds.

The second day of झमेला was a fun-filled ‘Mind Fair’ based on the theme – Mental health is a universal human right. It was divided into three zones: 1) Assessment Zone had psychological assessments to know one’s personality and check stress levels; 2) Expert Advice Zone included a quick consultation with a graphologist and a colour therapist. 3) Stress-Relieving Zone stimulated all the senses with fun activities like sensing box, sand trays, bubble booth, punching machine, and pottery wheel. The Mind Fair was a true representation of the name “झमेला – The Joyous Chaos” as it was chaotic yet full of joy.

On Day 3, an organization-wide “myth buster quiz” was conducted to create awareness about the myths and stigma of mental health in order to build an informed healthy workforce. A touching episode of HUMANS marked the closure of our 4-day long mental health event – झमेला. The HUMANS episode provided a platform to SRI-Delhi speakers Amit Kumar Jaiswal, Head of Application Software Team, and Gurpreet Singh Nagi, Senior Chief Engineer, TV Product Group, to share their incredibly rousing life journey and their secrets of maintaining calm in chaos, leaving the crowd propelled and moved.

झमेला evoked an understanding among employees to be more open to mental health issues and seek required support. However, creating awareness on mental health is not a day’s job, and SRI-Delhi will continue to persistently drive such initiatives to enhance the understanding of employees in this domain.

“Learning with work is very exciting as the implementation is real time,” says Sharma.

These lectures are part of the Open Innovation Tech Series that SRI-D kickstarted recently in a tie-up with the two IITs.

These sessions for engineers range from topics such as Computing Architecture to AR/VR technology and this program is part of SRI-D’s continuous learning initiative, which helps in fulfilling the aspirations of many of its employees.

“The lectures helped me with some terrific insights about introducing distributed computing architecture. Any future collaboration, wherein we can make some new technology solutions with the students from the university would be really great,” says Rohit Thapliyal, Senior Chief Engineer at SRI-D, who has been attending these sessions alongside his work.

The newly introduced learning program brings Samsung engineers together with faculty members from the IITs, primarily from the IITs where the Company has its Samsung Innovation Campus program running.

“At Samsung, our aim has always been to help people associated with us, reach their fullest potential through constant learning and coaching. It gives us immense pleasure to see these young millennials, talented Samsung engineers refresh their industry knowledge on cutting edge subjects by collaborating with IIT faculty,” says Pankaj Mishra, Vice President, SRI-D.

Open Innovation Tech Series is not just aimed at providing Samsung Engineers with an opportunity to learn and apply new concepts. Such learning programs also facilitate stronger ties between the industry and the academicians, which is one of the reasons why IIT faculty members are delighted at being associated with the program.

“Industry-Academia interactions are always a win-win as it is the crucial first step in the long journey of translation of ideas to commercial products.
