Samsung and Boys & Girls Clubs of America Help Students Discover the Possibilities of STEM

December 22, 2015

To equip today’s youth with the skills they need to succeed in the workforce of tomorrow, Samsung Electronics America and Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) have teamed up yet again to provide opportunities for career exploration and educational enhancement. The organizations’ latest effort focused on the Boys & Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley’s Tween Tech Center in Monterey Park, California, which opened earlier this month.

Previously used as a storage space at the after-school club, the new Tween Tech Center aims to equip middle school students with the tools they need for a successful future in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)—fields where achievement gaps have widened substantially over the past couple decades. These disparities are often due to socioeconomic factors, as well as students’ lack of exposure to STEM curriculum and role models.
