Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced it will showcase new projects that, with the support of its C-Lab program, are innovating in a wide range of fields, including AI, robotics and digital health, at CES 2026, the world’s largest consumer electronics and IT exhibition, running Jan. 6-9.

At CES, Samsung will operate a dedicated C-Lab exhibition area to support the startups’ expansion into the global market. It will be located in Eureka Park at the Venetian Expo, the designated startup zone of CES, where participating startups will showcase innovative technologies.

“Samsung supports C-Lab startups through CES as a platform to validate innovative technologies and build momentum for global growth,” said Byoung Chul Lee, Vice President and Head of the Creativity & Innovation Center at Samsung Electronics. “This year, expanded participation from regional startups highlights the continued evolution of the C-Lab ecosystem.”

C-Lab Ourside: 15 Startups That Include AI, Robotics and Digital Health

This year, C-Lab will feature 15 startups, including eight startups directly incubated by Samsung Electronics through the C-Lab Outside program, four from the Samsung Financial Networks-operated Samsung Financial C-Lab Outside, two from Samsung Electronics’ internal venture program, C-Lab Inside, and one that was jointly incubated by Samsung Electronics and the Daegu Creative Economy Innovation Center.

Record Participation of Regional Startup

Since 2023, Samsung has expanded C-Lab Outside to the Korean cities of Daegu and Gwangju, as well as the Gyeongbuk province. The program identifies and supports promising startups to strengthen regional startup ecosystems, then provides workspace, stage-based consulting and opportunities to collaborate with Samsung and its affiliates. This allows startups to grow without relocating to the much larger city of Seoul and fosters a sustainable local innovation cycle.

To date, 40 regional startups have been incubated through this initiative, contributing to the revitalization of regional ecosystems and laying the groundwork for future global unicorns.

At CES 2026, seven startups from Daegu, Gwangju and Gyeongbuk will participate, marking the largest-ever presence of regional C-Lab startups at CES.

Regional Startup Achievements Continue to Grow

The technological competitiveness of these regional C-Lab startups continues to gain recognition.

Repla, a plastic recycling startup from C-Lab Outside Gyeongbuk, received a CES 2026 Innovation Award for its Puri-Checker, a device that analyzes plastic composition ratios.

“For a regional startup, collaborating with a global company like Samsung has been a valuable opportunity,” said Dong-eun Seo, CEO of Repla. “Plastic recycling is a global challenge, and CES provides an important platform to explore international market opportunities.”

The seven participating regional C-Lab startups are as follows:

Stress Solution (Gyeongbuk): An AI-based personalized mental care sound creation solution

Deepscent (Gwangju): An AI-powered digital scent solution tailored to every space

C-Lab Inside Showcases AI-Driven Internal Ventures

Every year since 2016, Samsung has used CES to showcase projects from C-Lab Inside, gauging global market response and validating business potential.

This year, two AI-driven projects evaluated highly for their innovation, global scalability and completeness will be exhibited:

ChronoMix: An AI solution for object-centric video composition

EZ Reco: A generative AI platform that makes electronics recommendations based on expert knowledge

Expansion of C-Lab to Affiliates, Including Financial Startups

Reflecting the expansion of Samsung’s open innovation model across its affiliates, four startups from Samsung Financial C-Lab Outside will participate in CES for the first time. This participation enables startups across various industries to seek new global collaboration opportunities by leveraging Samsung’s incubation experience. The Samsung Financial C-Lab Outside startups are as follows:

WINNING.I (Samsung Card): Next-gen identity verification (eKYC) powered by simultaneous fingerprint and face biometrics

Pillsang (Samsung Securities): Real-time phishing (scam/fraud) detection solution using on-device AI

C-Lab Startups Win 17 CES 2026 Innovation Awards

C-Lab startups have received a total of 17 CES 2026 Innovation Awards, including two Best of Innovation Awards, as announced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA).

Both Best of Innovation Award recipients — MangoSlab and StudioLab — originated from C-Lab Inside and later spun off as independent startups, reaffirming the technological excellence and growth potential of Samsung’s internal ventures.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced the findings of its 2024 survey on AI, revealing that Southeast Asian (SEA) youth are not just witnessing the AI revolution, but are actively shaping it. The survey showed that close to 9 in 10 youths are already using AI in their day-to-day routines, and the primary platform that they use to access AI services is through their mobile devices. This highlights the role and potential of mobile devices in empowering SEA youth today and tomorrow.

The survey, conducted among 884 youths[1] aged 13 to 24 in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, highlights the profound impact of AI on their lives, ambitions, and aspirations for social change.

CU Kim, President and CEO of Southeast Asia and Oceania for Samsung Electronics, said, “We have always been passionate about enabling the next generation in our region to reach their fullest potential through our innovative technology and our global Corporate Citizenship programs. This is why we sought to understand the hopes and aspirations of youth in our region. Our survey findings show that Southeast Asian youth are high adopters of AI and believe in its potential to shape their future careers or for driving social good. This reinforces the need to continue to empower the next generation with meaningful AI innovations, and Samsung is committed to helping youths in unlock new possibilities, amplify their creativity, and drive positive change in their communities.”

High Adoption of AI among SEA Youths Today

Based on survey findings, AI is no longer a future concept for the SEA youths surveyed – it is a present reality empowering them to thrive in all aspects of their lives. A staggering 9 out of 10 youths already incorporate AI tools and services into their daily routines, using them for learning, creativity, staying informed, and driving positive changes in their communities. Specifically, the top three daily uses of AI are for learning (78%), creativity (56%), and staying informed (38%).

Mobile devices[2] are central in driving AI usage among this demographic, as it is the preferred way (60%) SEA youths use to access AI tools and services. This trend is expected to continue, as more youths expect mobile devices to be their main mode of access to AI in the future. Samsung is at the forefront of this mobile-first era, bringing AI tools and services to all with Galaxy AI, which enhances communication, fosters creativity, and boosts productivity. The new Samsung Galaxy S25 series is an example of how Samsung continuously sets new standards of what AI smartphones can do, by understanding users’ needs and preference to provide personalized AI experiences with privacy assured at every turn.

SEA Youths See AI as Catalyst for Shaping Their Future Careers

Youth surveyed are optimistic about the future of work in the age of AI, proactively preparing for new opportunities by developing essential AI skills. While 65% believe AI will create new job opportunities, 81% are also aware that some jobs will inevitably disappear. This awareness has fueled a strong desire for AI skills development, with 70% of youths surveyed expressing a keen interest in upskilling and learning more about AI. More than half of the respondents also feel that AI may change their job fields substantially in the future, reflecting the keen awareness by SEA youths on how AI will shape their future career paths.

Through the expansion of intelligent AI features on even more Galaxy devices such as the new Galaxy S25 series as well as the Galaxy A56 5G, A36 5G and A26 5G, Samsung is committed to empowering even more users by making AI more accessible across various models. Interactive features such as Google’s Circle to Search[3] and Math Solver[4] in Samsung Notes help create immersive learning environments that bring meaningful educational experiences to life.

Collaborative Action for Responsible AI Among Youths

When asked about what influences their use and perspectives of AI, social media (77%) was ranked as the top encouraging force by SEA youths, followed by technology companies and services (73%), then friends and siblings (57%). As such, building a responsible AI future for youth today requires collaborative action among various groups, as well as creating a safe environment for youths to learn and grow.

Samsung’s approach to AI prioritizes security and privacy, as exemplified by features like Personal Data Engine[5] on the new Galaxy S25 series. This ensures context-aware, personalized AI experiences with robust protection for user data across the Samsung connected device ecosystem. Across Galaxy devices, innovations such as Knox Vault keep personalized data private and secure while laying the groundwork for youths to boost their productivity and creativity using mobile AI, with complete peace of mind.

Continued investment in AI education and infrastructure is crucial in ensuring equitable access to the benefits of the AI revolution. Samsung is dedicated to this through its global Corporate Citizenship programs such as the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow global contest, which empowers youth to leverage technology for social good.

Eco Pulse, an AI-powered image recognition technology developed by a group of 15-year-old students from Johor, was the first Malaysian winner of 2024 Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow competition. This innovative technology aims to simplify the recycling process by helping users identify recyclable items, using big data and AI algorithms to estimate the value of items based on their weight. The winning team, Team Terrainnnovators, has cultivated a strong interest in using AI technology to elevate their community and environment.

By fostering AI literacy and supplying the right innovative tools through these initiatives, more youths will be equipped to thrive in the future world of AI and new technologies.

At CES 2025, the C-Lab companies consist of 12 startups from the C-Lab Outside program, which incubates external startups; two startups from C-Lab Inside, which is an internal venture program for employees; and one startup that was spun-off from Samsung. At the event, Samsung expects C-Lab startups to assess global market response, strengthen business feasibility and meet with investors.

“CES is an important opportunity for Korean startups to gain a foothold in the global market and increase brand awareness,” said Pilgyu Jeon, Executive Vice President and Head of the Creativity & Innovation Center at Samsung Electronics. “C-Lab will continue to support startups on the journey to becoming internationally recognized global innovators.”

C-Lab will showcase four local startups from Daegu and Gwangju, Korea, which is a new record achieved through Samsung Electronics’ efforts to promote the local startup ecosystem. Since 2023, Samsung Electronics has expanded the C-Lab Outside program to discover and nurture innovative startups in these regions. The immense potential of these startups has been demonstrated by GhostPass, a startup from C-Lab Outside Gwangju that has won the Best of Innovation Award in Fintech at CES 2025.

“Thanks to the support and coaching of C-Lab Outside, we were able to grow our company in a short period of time,” said Sunkwan Lee, CEO and founder of GhostPass. “We are excited to attend CES 2025 with C-Lab and showcase our solution, which won the CES Best of Innovation Award.”

C-Lab Outside was created in October 2018, and startups selected for the program receive full support — including a business support fund, office workspaces and customized development programs — along with business cooperation from Samsung Electronics.

Two C-Lab Inside Projects From Samsung Employees; One C-Lab Spin-off That Began at Samsung

Since 2016, Samsung has been exhibiting its C-Lab Inside projects at CES to see how the global market responds and to test their business viability.

The C-Lab Inside projects that Samsung Electronics is showcasing at CES have been widely recognized for their innovation, global marketability and completeness — including IoT solutions that provide differentiated experiences in conjunction with Samsung Electronics products, as well as a new conceptual robotics platform. This year’s projects are as follows:

GreenFollow : Galaxy-enabled autonomous driving solution for electric golf trolley

Modulero : A modular platform for robotics development

In 2015, Samsung Electronics introduced its C-Lab spin-off program, which allows C-Lab Inside projects with high market potential to be launched as fully-fledged startups. At CES 2025, C-Lab spin-off Edint will showcase its mobile-based AI online exam proctoring service.

C-Lab Startups Win 12 CES 2025 Innovation Awards

In November 2024, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announced the winners of the CES 2025 Innovation Awards, including the award for Best of Innovation. C-Lab startups received one Best of Innovation Award and 11 Innovation Award Honorees.

Through “C-Lab Family” program, a unique professional network, all startups of C-Lab can also continue to co-operate with Samsung even after graduating from the C-Lab Outside or spinning off from C-Lab.

Samsung Electronics, a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, today announced three new relationships that further the brand’s longstanding support for sport and its deep-rooted value of openness. The collaboration will see Samsung work alongside the World Surf League (WSL), Street League Skateboarding (SLS) and Pro Breaking Tour (PBT) to celebrate the sports of surfing, skateboarding and breaking — and their communities — on the Road to Paris 2024 and beyond.

As announced earlier this year, Samsung’s official theme for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, ‘Open always wins,’ articulates the brand’s belief that with an open mind, every new experience becomes a meaningful achievement that opens up new perspectives and infinite possibilities. These three sports, each built with shared values and respect, embody the spirit of ‘Open always wins,’ and Samsung is committed to supporting their inspiring and close-knit communities.

“Surfing, skateboarding and breaking, though proudly unique, share a foundation,” said Stephanie Choi, EVP & Head of Marketing of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “Open mindset to try new things, the determination to push the limits of what’s possible and a culture of inclusivity that embraces everyone lie at the heart of each sport. These attributes are something we at Samsung are also passionate about, and we are honored to support these three organizations and their athletes and recognize their communities — not only as the countdown to Paris 2024 continues, but as they work to open their sports to the world every day.”

Samsung will engage WSL, SLS and PBT athletes and fan bases at key events on the Road to the Games. These partnerships will come to life through a new collaborative initiative designed to spotlight the iconic figures and subcultures of each community, as well as their unique stories, which will be unveiled in April.

“We are proud to partner with Samsung to showcase our incredible athletes and their journey to Paris 2024 — and Tahiti,” said Tim Greenberg, WSL EVP, Content Strategy and Production. “Together we will celebrate surfing’s unique culture, communities and athletes in this important and exciting year for the sport.”

“Our organization was founded with the aim to foster the popularity and acceptance of street skateboarding worldwide,” said Matt Rodriguez, General Manager, SLS. “We live these values every day and are so pleased to partner with Samsung, a brand that focuses on openness and inclusivity at its core. Together, we’ll strengthen our platform, support our community and reinforce our shared belief in openness.”

“Over the past decade since our tour’s inception, we’ve witnessed an incredible evolution in our sport and culture,” said Chris Wright, also known as “Cros One,” founder of PBT. “Big shoutout to the b-boys and b-girls who push the limits of creativity and self-expression every day. Now, we’re gearing up to make history with our Olympic debut, and we’re excited that Samsung is on board to amplify this pivotal moment in our sport’s journey.”

Additional details on the community initiative and partnership activities will be shared in the coming weeks.

“As a global company, our brand philosophy emphasizes solving customers’ problems and helping them enjoy a better life with our technology and innovation, regardless of their region, race or gender in any part of the world. We are making an effort to genuinely share this value with customers while supporting our mission throughout the organization,” she said.

Lee urged employees to establish a culture of accepting differences by “listening to colleagues’ opinions and having open discussions so that each person can fully realize their capabilities based on their unique background.”

In celebration of International Women’s Day, she advised women to always be themselves and trust their potential. “I believe that if women challenge themselves and pursue what they truly want — in a way that’s true to who they are, rather than blindly following others — it will be a meaningful step forward not only for them but also for society as a whole.”

As a designer for Samsung Electronics’ Interaction Design Team responsible for inclusive design, Gunho Chae considers the brand’s wide customer base to develop products and services that respect the diversity of all users.

Samsung developed a glossary of terms to inform its inclusive language and created guidelines and training materials so employees are well-equipped to incorporate DEI values into all user interface elements and images.

“Samsung accepts all customers and recognizes their differences — regardless of their age, disability, family structure, gender identity, race, culture or socioeconomic status,” said Chae. “We respect all users and strive to make our products, services, manuals and advertisements relevant to our customers for an enhanced user experience.”

Michelle Anne Manglal-Lan, who oversees DEI at Samsung Electronics America, seeks to create an environment where employees can smoothly communicate, understand and learn from each other. She is particularly committed to providing motivation to female employees and fostering a corporate culture where they feel empowered to unlock their potential. Last year, she organized the Americas Employee Resources Groups (ERGs) conference to establish a network for collaboration and share best practices in DEI.

“The ERGs were born out of our employees’ interest and engagement with DEI,” said Manglal-Lan. “Together, we are stronger and can achieve our goals faster. I’m proud of the fact that our North America Region is the first office to launch an ERG.”

A new employee at Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display (VD) Division, Jiyoon Jang realized the company was more diverse than she had imagined when she first stepped foot in Digital City, Samsung’s Suwon office. “We received DEI training during our new employee onboarding sessions, and I realized the importance of an inclusive culture in a place with such a diverse group of people.”

“I knew Samsung made donations to social responsibility efforts,” she said. “Since joining I also learned that the company is sincerely committed to developing technologies that are truly inclusive.”

Relumino Mode for people with low vision and Audible Subtitles for people who are hard of hearing are among some of the projects the VD Division has developed to make the company’s products more accessible — and align with the department’s slogan, Screens for All.

“I hope the products that I work on in the future will contribute to diversity and inclusion and that I will be able to take pride in what I do,” Jang said. “I believe that discrimination against minorities and intergenerational conflicts stem from ignorance, so I am working hard to educate myself by attending sessions and reading about diversity, equity and inclusion whenever I get the opportunity.”

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Samsung Electronics held a variety of events related to this year’s slogan, #InspireInclusion. The Device Experience (DX) Division ran a photo campaign that encouraged employees to take pictures together while making hearts with their hands — the official gesture symbolizing International Women’s Day. The event was a success, with pictures to prove it. “I’m glad to have taken part in such a fun and meaningful event,” said Seok-Nyoung Cha from the MX Division. “I hope we can all think deeply and act together to fight biases, stereotypes and discrimination.”

More than 700 employees took time to thank the female colleagues and family members in their life at another event. At the DX Division’s Female Executives’ workshop, hosted since 2021, female executives held candid conversations with the CEO to discuss the company’s vision and ways to foster female leaders. Additionally, a mentoring program for female developers will be launched this year.

Starting this March, the Device Solutions (DS) Division will organize monthly activities to build awareness of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) values among its employees. After selecting DEI topics centered on women, people with disabilities, caregivers and foreigners, the division will hold contests and training sessions each month that give employees a chance to learn how to show support for one another. Furthermore, the division will conduct interviews with female leaders in celebration of International Women’s Month and relay their thoughts on female leadership and how younger women can grow in their careers.

Outside of Korea, the company will partner with Dress For Success (DFS)[1] in three countries — the U.S., Canada and Mexico — to organize clothing donation drives to help women get jobs and gain financial independence. Webinars and seminars that raise awareness about DEI will be held as well.

Last November, the DX division established the DEI office to reflect DEI values in all areas of the business, identify areas of improvement and further promote an inclusive corporate culture. To this end, the office checks the company’s systems and culture for discriminatory practices and holds training sessions and campaigns to give employees an accurate understanding of these values. In addition, the office supports voluntary Employee Resources Groups (ERGs) dedicated to DEI that facilitate discussions on the company’s diversity status and improvement goals through the DEI Council, in which the company’s executives take part. “It is of the utmost importance to operate a diverse and equitable system. We believe that innovative products and services can emerge from a culture where DEI is respected,” said Jinhee Nam, Secretary General of the DEI Office at Samsung Electronics. “Our office established a global DEI policy and plans to operate various programs to increase diversity and create an inclusive organizational culture.”

Jong-Hee Han, Vice Chairman and CEO of the DX Division at Samsung Electronics, and Kye Hyun Kyung, President and CEO of the DS Division at Samsung Electronics, delivered a company-wide message to employees calling for gender equality and highlighting the importance of DEI in honor of International Women’s Day. “I would like to express my gratitude to all the female employees in the DS Division who are doing their best,” said Kyung. “We will help all employees realize their full potential to achieve both personal and professional growth at Samsung,” Han assured.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced it will be showcasing new innovative projects developed from its C-Lab program at CES® 2024, which runs

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced it will be showcasing new innovative projects developed from its C-Lab program at CES® 2024, which runs from January 9 through 12. During the showcase, Samsung will highlight 15 startups and projects — the highest number the company has ever featured — at Eureka Park at the Venetian Expo in Las Vegas, the main exhibition space for startups at the world’s biggest tech show.

This year’s CES is expected to feature more than 1,000 startups and attract more than 130,000 visitors from around the world, including business executives, investors and media. At the event, Samsung expects startups from C-Lab to assess global market responses, strengthen their business feasibility and meet with investors.

“The goal of the C-Lab program is to elevate a platform for startups to grow and flourish,” said Pilgyu Jeon, Executive Vice President and Head of the Creativity & Innovation Center at Samsung Electronics. “CES is the perfect venue for these exciting companies and projects to show major tech players that they belong on the global stage.”

The C-Lab program was created in 2012 and since it was established, Samsung has nurtured a total of 872 startups and projects. This includes 475 through C-Lab Outside and 397 through C-Lab Inside. In particular, the 537 C-Lab startups (62 from C-Lab Spin-off and 475 from C-Lab Outside) have raised a cumulative total of $1 billion in investment.

C-Lab Outside: Ten Startups That Include AI, Energy and Healthcare Products

C-Lab Outside was created in October 2018, and startups selected for the program receive full support — including office workspaces, customized development programs and investment — along with business cooperation from Samsung Electronics. Dr.Tail, an online veterinary consultation service, has collaborated with Samsung Electronics to bring its services to Samsung Smart TVs[1] and will be exhibited at the C-Lab booths at CES.

In addition to Dr.Tail, Samsung Electronics will exhibit nine other startups selected and supported by the C-Lab Outside program:

RebuilderAI: AI solutions for fast and easy 3D content creation on smartphones

Ghost Pass: decentralized remote biometric authentication solutions

DEEPX: an NPU-based[2] AI semiconductor

Style Bot: a fashion recommendation service based on user-owned clothing data

Vsion: a smart window with adjustable transparency

DolbomDream: a smart, inflatable jacket designed to monitor the health of senior citizens

60Hertz: an AI-powered virtual power plant (VPP) solution

Wrtn Technologies: a generative AI portal service

NdotLight: a web-based collaborative 3D design platform

“We are excited to be part of C-Lab’s high-profile startup booth at Eureka Park,” said Sunkwan Lee, CEO of Ghost Pass. “Thanks to the support of Samsung C-Lab, we won the CES Innovation Award this year, which I think makes this year’s CES a good opportunity for us to take a step toward going global.”

Two C-Lab Inside Projects From Samsung Employees and Three C-Lab Spin-off Startups That Started at Samsung

Samsung has been exhibiting its C-Lab Inside projects at CES since 2016, and this year’s CES exhibit will feature two projects that are currently being fostered in-house. These projects are from the healthcare and pet-tech sectors and have been highly regarded for their innovation, marketability, and completeness:

EARS: a healthcare platform that analyzes brain waves captured by earbuds

DumboCam: a pet training platform that utilizes Vision AI

In 2016, Samsung Electronics introduced its C-Lab spin-off program, which allows C-Lab Inside projects with high market potential to be launched as fully-fledged startups. At CES 2024, three C-Lab spin-off startups — which initially started as C-Lab Inside projects — will showcase their innovative products in C-Lab booths:

Yellosis: smart toilets and AI healthcare solutions based on measurement of liquid body waste

Becon: AI-powered hair loss management solutions

Goose Labs: metaverse home workout app with real-time motion-sensing avatars

C-Lab Startups Win 23 CES 2024 Innovation Awards

In November 2023, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) announced the winners of the CES 2024 Innovation Awards, including the award for Best of Innovation. Projects from the C-Lab program received one Best of Innovation Award and 22 Innovation Award Honorees.

Samsung is sharing its knowledge of winning CES Innovation Awards and entering the global market with the C-Lab startups, which has allowed them to find success. At CES 2024, 16 C-Lab Outside startups were named as Innovation Award Honorees. As for C-Lab Spin-off startups, one project received a Best of Innovation Award and four were named Innovation Award Honorees.

Specifically, STUDIO LAB — a startup spun off in 2021 — won the CES Innovation Award. The company’s products include Seller Canvas, an AI-based commerce detail page automation service, and Photo-bot, an automated commerce photography robot that combines AI and robotics.

Yellosis and DEEPX — two of the startups being exhibited at the C-Lab booths — each received Innovation Awards in three categories. Yellosis is a digital health startup spun off in 2020 that developed Cym702 Seat, a smart toilet that automatically measures liquid body waste and provides health management solutions. The company also developed Cym702 Circle, a smart toilet that simply measures glucose in liquid body waste in public restrooms. Yellosis won CES Innovation Awards in three categories, including Digital Health,Smart Cities and Product in support of human security .

DEEPX was founded in 2018 and develops edge AI chips for computational processing of AI algorithms such as deep learning-based object recognition, face/voice recognition, image classification and image quality improvement. DEEPX is the first AI semiconductor company to win CES Innovation Awards in three categories, including Embedded technology, Robotics and Computer hardware & components.

After experiencing the suite of the latest Galaxy devices, our Members Stars named the Galaxy Z Flip5 on top of their list of their favorite devices, echoing the sentiments of many users worldwide.

Patricia: The Galaxy Z Flip5 is a head-turner and testament to Samsung’s innovation over the years, especially looking back to the first Z Flip I had in 2020. Now with much the awaited Flex Window or larger cover screen, I think the Galaxy Z Flip will become even more popular and mainstream, while also remaining the gold standard for foldable smartphones for years to come.

Calvin: My favorites are the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra as both devices left me amazed at how slim and light they are while not compromising on the screen size and device performance. Aside from its content creation capabilities, the Galaxy Z Flip5 also enables easy access to third party app such as YouTube, WhatsApp, and more applications via the Flex Window – which is a total game-changer and offers an experience that I can’t get on any other smartphone.

Pitchayut: The Galaxy Z Flip5 is super lightweight and pocketable – I find it so easy to use! My favorite feature by far is the FlexCam, which makes accessing the camera and taking 0.5x selfies especially easy, while ensuring excellent quality for both photos and videos.

Samsung Malaysia Electronics announced the launch of ‘Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2023’, a youth competition between secondary school students that brings compassion, education, and technology together. The competition aims to inspire students to be innovators and problem-solvers who create solutions to address issues faced by society. By encouraging the use of technology, the competition empowers students to make a positive impact and contribute to society.

As innovation is becoming increasingly important in our society, there is a growing need to prepare future generations with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in a research-driven world. Recognising the importance of enhancing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education in our country, Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow 2023 aligns with the nation’s strong emphasis on the importance of higher education, providing a platform for secondary school students to engage in problem-solving and innovation, the competition supports and reinforces the nation’s commitment to advancing education and preparing the next generation for a successful future.

Dato’ Roh Jae Yeol, Director of Corporate Affairs at Samsung Malaysia Electronics, said, “Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow program serves as a beacon of inspiration, fostering practical STEM education on a national scale. By making education relatable, accessible, and enjoyable, the program strives to empower and equip young minds with the essential skills to build a brighter future. Through the provision of tools, resources, and hands-on experiences, the initiative also seeks to ignite a genuine interest in STEM subjects, nurturing a generation of innovative thinkers and problem solvers who will play a pivotal role in shaping a brighter tomorrow.”

Samsung Malaysia’s Solve for Tomorrow 2023 is a collaborative effort between Samsung Malaysia and Universiti Malaya’s STEM Centre, emphasizing research, analysis, and teamwork. This competition is specifically designed for Form 1 and Form 2 students from all national secondary schools in the country, aiming to enhance their learning experience through engaging in STEM activities. Recognizing the importance of hands-on learning, the program strives to instil a passion for STEM subjects in students, enabling them to become active contributors to society and agents of positive change.

This year’s Solve for Tomorrow competition, themed ‘Start with Can’, aims to harness the power within each participant and instil confidence in their abilities to believe in themselves, build passion for problem-solving, and motivate them to think innovatively. By encouraging students to tap into their potential, the competition seeks to inspire them to make a lasting impact on society and drive positive change through the creation of impactful solutions for the challenges of tomorrow.

“The partnership between Universiti Malaya’s STEM Centre and Samsung Malaysia equips future leaders with vital skills, fostering innovation and digital literacy to drive a STEM-based economy. This collaboration is instrumental in cultivating an advanced nation, addressing complexities and supporting impactful solutions. By combining our expertise, we can empower youth to think innovatively, creating a sustainable and better world,” said Ir. Dr Mas Sahidayana Mohktar, Director of Universiti Malaya STEM Centre.

The focus for 2023 themes are three critical social issues: ‘Education & Learning’, ‘Environmental & Sustainability’, and ‘Health & Well-Being’. By prioritizing these pressing concerns, the competition aims to stimulate critical thinking among students and inspire them to develop innovative solutions that can bring about positive societal change.

‘Education & Learning’ theme addresses barriers and challenges to equal educational opportunities. By encouraging students to think creatively, the competition empowers them to enhance access, quality, and inclusivity in education, contributing to a more equitable and inclusive system.

‘Environmental & Sustainability’ remains a top priority, emphasising the urgent need to protect our planet. The competition motivates students to generate innovative ideas and initiatives that promote sustainable practices, conservation, and environmental responsibility, empowering them to be catalysts for positive change and advocates for a more sustainable future.

‘Health & Well-Being’ as a social concern in 2023 highlights the significance of promoting physical and mental well-being in communities. The competition inspires students to explore innovative approaches for addressing health issues, improving healthcare accessibility, and promoting healthy lifestyles, aiming to cultivate student-led initiatives that positively impact individuals and communities, leading to a healthier and more resilient society.

By addressing these three critical social issues, Samsung Malaysia’s Solve for Tomorrow program in 2023 aims to empower students to become active contributors in shaping a more inclusive, sustainable, and healthier future for their communities and beyond.

Solve for Tomorrow 2023 requires participants to present an idea and innovative solutions that address one of the three themes, all of which play a crucial role in our nation’s progress. Each group of three students will need to describe the problem they want to solve and explain how STEM can be applied to address this problem in 1000 words. Samsung Malaysia and Universiti Malaya will assess the entries based on several criteria, such as issue relevance, creativity, feasibility of ideas, application of STEM, and presentation of innovative solutions.

The shortlisted entries will be announced on Samsung Malaysia’s Solve for Tomorrow website in September. The shortlisted participants will receive assistance from mentors and experts to enhance and create prototypes of their ideas at a Design to Win Workshop. The winners will be chosen through a competitive pitch process in December 2023 and awarded the following prizes:
