“The Brief New York,” held April 15–16 (local time) at a Samsung showroom in New Jersey, focused on how AI appliances can make household chores less demanding and improve quality of life. Samsung demonstrated AI features in refrigerators and ovens that make everyday kitchen tasks easier, from managing ingredients to preparing meals.

Attendees saw how the “AI Vision” feature of the Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub recognizes not only food ingredients but also labels on containers, automatically adding items to the Food List. The demonstration showed how AI helps users easily keep track of what is in their refrigerator and avoid unnecessary duplicate purchases.

The “AI Pro Cooking” feature of the Bespoke AI Oven also drew attention. Its internal camera recognizes ingredients, recommends optimal cooking settings, and monitors changes in food color to notify users as their meals cook. Together, these capabilities demonstrated how AI can take the hassle out of cooking.

Samsung also presented a refrigerator lineup designed around the needs of North American consumers, who value ample food storage, hygiene, and efficient use of space, underscoring its ability to deliver AI appliances tailored to local needs.

Europe: Helping Consumers Save Energy With High-Efficiency Built-In AI Appliances

Energy efficiency took center stage at “The Brief Milan,” held April 21 in Milan, Italy, where Samsung presented a range of high-efficiency AI appliances for European consumers.

The “Bespoke AI Washer” drew attention for reducing energy use by an additional 65% compared with Europe’s Class A energy efficiency threshold, while the “Bespoke AI Dishwasher” cuts energy use by up to 20% against the same benchmark. Samsung highlighted how these advanced energy-saving technologies can help consumers reduce their energy consumption while offering the added benefits of AI-powered appliances.

In the kitchen, Samsung presented the Extractor Induction Hob, the built-in Bespoke AI Dishwasher, and a refrigerator with “AI Precise Cooling,” which helps minimize internal temperature fluctuations.

Together, these innovations illustrated Samsung’s vision for an AI home optimized for European living environments, combining energy-saving technologies, appliances that blend seamlessly into living spaces, and connected experiences powered by SmartThings.

Latin America: Bringing AI Homes Together Through SmartThings Connectivity

In Latin America, SmartThings connectivity was a central theme, bringing multiple appliances together into a unified AI home ecosystem. Events were held on August 19 in São Paulo, Brazil, and September 9 in Mexico City, Mexico.

Attendees experienced how SmartThings lets users check the operating status of individual appliances and manage and control them as needed. Samsung emphasized that bringing everyday appliances, such as refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners, under one connected system can make life at home significantly more convenient.

Samsung demonstrated the practical benefits of SmartThings-connected appliances designed for local living environments and daily habits.

Southwest Asia: From Personalized Cooling to Family Care, AI Appliances That Look After Everyday Needs

Personalized cooling and family care were among the highlights of “The Brief,” held September 16 in Gurugram, India, reflecting the region’s hot, humid climate and family-centered lifestyle.

In the air conditioner experience zone, Samsung demonstrated five airflow control modes powered by the “Motion Wind” technology in its Bespoke AI WindFree Pro Air Conditioner. A highlight was the “WindFree Wearable Good Sleep” mode, which connects to Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Ring devices to adjust cooling based on users’ sleep stages and changes in body temperature, creating a comfortable sleep environment.

In the kitchen appliance experience zone, Samsung introduced “Now Brief,” which delivers personalized information on the screen of the Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub, and “Family Care,” which monitors family members’ device usage patterns to check on their well-being. Together, these features demonstrated how AI can go beyond simplifying household chores to provide personalized experiences and help look after family members in their daily lives.

Samsung also highlighted its service offerings, including SmartThings Home Care and remote appliance management, which extend support beyond the initial purchase to everyday use, maintenance, and ongoing care.

Southeast Asia: Expanding Appliance Solutions from Homes to Businesses

The final stop was Hanoi, Vietnam, where Samsung unveiled a broad range of appliance solutions for both individual consumers and business customers at “The Brief Hanoi” on October 14. The event brought together leading media representatives and influencers from six Southeast Asian countries.

The event took place at Samsung’s newly renovated Business Experience Studio (BES). In spaces recreating real-world settings such as schools, hotels, and commercial facilities, attendees explored firsthand how Samsung’s products and solutions can be applied across a variety of business environments.

Samsung placed particular emphasis on its heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) portfolio, highlighting the company’s strengths in this emerging growth business and reinforcing its market position. The company also previewed its 2027 air conditioner lineup, featuring updated designs and AI-powered capabilities such as “AI Energy Mode.”

For residential appliances, Samsung demonstrated AI-powered convenience features, including “AI Vision” and “Bixby.” The company also introduced its approach to ongoing product care, which combines software updates for up to seven years and its “Home Appliance Remote Management (HRM)” service. The HRM service remotely diagnoses potential issues and provides users with guidance. Together, these services help improve appliance functionality and usability long after purchase.

Looking ahead, Samsung plans to further expand its AI appliance offerings and services to reflect the unique living environments, lifestyles, and consumer needs of each region, strengthening its competitive position in the global AI home market.

Samsung Electronics today announced the opening of a new built-in appliance showroom in Löhne, Germany.

Located on the ground floor of the Kitchen Center Löhne — an exhibition center for kitchen industry leaders — the permanent showroom provides kitchen retailers, planners, buyers, and other industry partners with year-round access to Samsung’s built-in appliance portfolio and connected kitchen solutions.

Designed around Samsung’s connected appliances, the showroom moves beyond conventional product displays by placing built-in appliances in realistic kitchen and residential environments. Trade visitors can experience how Samsung appliances, AI-powered features, and SmartThings connectivity work together to create more intuitive and connected experiences throughout the home. They can also see how seamlessly Samsung’s built-in appliances fit into kitchens in different price segments, from entry to premium price levels.

Near the entrance, kitchen and residential environments demonstrate how Samsung appliances and SmartThings-connected devices can work together throughout the home in realistic settings. The displays also highlight how the company’s built-in kitchen appliances complement a variety of kitchen furniture concepts, including wood, white, and navy finishes.

Next, a dedicated product zone presents the company’s refrigeration, cooking, and dishwashing portfolios alongside lifestyle displays and select new products. Held every September in and around Löhne — a region in which approximately two-thirds of Germany’s kitchen industry is concentrated — the event brings together more than 300 major kitchen furniture and appliance brands from around the world. It attracts more than 25,000 visitors annually.

Compared to Samsung’s previous designs that featured more protruding front elements, the updated design offers a flat front surface with a more uniform appearance. This creates a cleaner, more sophisticated look that blends naturally into modern interiors and living environments.

Beyond aesthetics, the design also enhances everyday usability. The larger door with a wider opening angle enables easier access when loading and unloading laundry, making the task more convenient. Larger 10 Kg Bespoke AI Washer Brings New Efficiency Milestone

The Bespoke AI Washer with A-70% energy efficiency marks a new step forward for Samsung, following the A-55% Bespoke AI Washer introduced at IFA 2024 and the A-65% model showcased at IFA 2025.

The new washer will be designed to consume up to 70% less energy than the minimum energy efficiency requirement for a Class A rating in Europe, while increasing washing capacity from 9 kg³ to 10 kg. By improving capacity and energy efficiency simultaneously, the new model builds on the company’s continued research into overcoming the traditional compromise between washing larger loads and reducing energy consumption.

Samsung has achieved these gains through engineering improvements across key areas, including motor efficiency, thermal management, and wash-cycle design. Together, these technologies reduce electricity consumption while maintaining effective cleaning performance and everyday usability.

13 Kg Bespoke AI Washer Offers Increased Capacity With Standard-Depth Footprint

Samsung will also showcase the new Bespoke AI Washer with large capacity, which brings a 13 kg washing capacity to a standard European design depth of 600 mm.

Using SpaceMax technology, which creates more space inside to enhance the mechanical design and incorporate a larger drum without increasing the external dimensions, the washer increases internal volume while maintaining a compact 24-inch form factor. This space-efficient design allows users to wash larger loads, bedding, and bulkier items — while helping the appliance fit within common European kitchen, utility-room, and furniture configurations.

The washer also incorporates Samsung’s mono-body design, creating a unified form designed to blend naturally into a wide range of interiors. A slim front frame reinforces its streamlined silhouette, while refined colors, materials, and finishes contribute to a clean, understated appearance.

At the center of the interface is a large touch display visually integrated with the detergent compartment. From this display, users can intuitively access cycle controls, connected features, and personalized laundry services through SmartThings.⁴

Auto Open Door Helps Keep the Washer Interior Fresh

For added convenience, both washers feature Auto Open Door. Once a wash cycle is complete, the washer door opens gradually to help release residual moisture from inside the drum. Q. It has been 10 years since Samsung introduced the world’s first WindFree design and changed the air conditioner paradigm. What was the design direction behind the new 2026 AI WindFree air conditioner?

Yuna Park: The key concept that defines the third-generation WindFree design is “resonance with space.” The 2026 Bespoke AI WindFree air conditioner uses radar sensors to precisely recognize both users and their living environments, delivering the most comfortable experience for each situation. Inspired by architectural elements, we removed details that unnecessarily draw attention and focused on creating a product that naturally blends into its surroundings through distinctive material expression.

Q. What visual and structural changes were introduced in the newest Bespoke AI WindFree lineup and what design elements have been upgraded?

Yuna Park: While the second-generation design emphasized the aesthetic value of appliances through its “canvas design,” which framed the front of the product like a work of art, the third generation focuses on architectural expression that harmonizes with the entire space. We’ve simplified surface elements to their essence and redefined the relationship between function and space through refined dimensionality. The sculpted WindFree elements express the product’s functional evolution, while the areas that interact with surrounding furniture feature richer material expression to create a stronger sense of integration with the space.

A Minimalist Design Inspired by the Wall Itself: Bespoke AI WindFree Pro

Q. The Bespoke AI WindFree Pro blends naturally into the wall as if it were part of a single surface. It creates a very different impression from conventional wall-mounted air conditioners. Where did this design inspiration come from?

Yuna Park: Traditional wall-mounted air conditioners have been limited by complex internal structures required to deliver performance, resulting in segmented forms that often felt at odds with modern interiors. This time, we returned to the fundamental idea of an appliance that hangs on a wall. We applied the clean vertical and horizontal lines often found in architecture to the product’s form. The upper section, where people’s eyes naturally rest, was intentionally kept clean so it could visually merge with the surrounding wall, while the functional area where air is discharged was clearly separated and positioned at the bottom. By dividing the layout according to architectural proportions, we were able to create a clean form that blends into the wall as though it were part of it.

Q. What was the most challenging aspect of maintaining powerful cooling performance while achieving the minimalist appearance of a wall-mounted air conditioner?

Yuna Park: The multi-blade system, which precisely controls airflow, is a complex structure that plays a critical role in the air conditioner’s performance. If exposed, it could easily disrupt the clean lines of the exterior. Therefore, achieving the right balance between performance and aesthetics required close collaboration with the engineering team from the earliest stages of development. One of the key challenges was eliminating the visual disconnect caused by the exposure of internal mechanical structures when the two blades operate. To address this, we incorporated a sophisticated secondary blade that complements the movement of the main blade. Even when the blades are fully open during operation, the internal structures remain naturally concealed, allowing us to maximize cooling performance while maintaining a clean appearance at all times.

Q. Since wall-mounted air conditioners are often installed in bedrooms, studies and other personal spaces, what was the most important consideration in selecting colors and materials?

Sujong Kim: Neutrality was our highest priority. Personal spaces tend to reflect individual tastes more strongly than shared spaces such as living rooms. To avoid imposing a particular mood, we eliminated prominent gloss finishes and bold patterns. Instead, we applied a subtle etched texture that softly absorbs light and reduces visual fatigue. For color, we selected Essential White as the primary option because of its broad appeal. We also introduced Soapstone Charcoal, a deep yet soft dark tone designed for global markets — where demand for darker interior styles continues to grow. Together, these finishes create a calm and restrained atmosphere.

Q. Are there any design details that consumers may not immediately notice but that you hope they will appreciate?

Yuna Park: To express the evolved identity of WindFree, we’ve carefully refined both the size of the WindFree micro air holes and the density of their arrangement. It is a subtle detail designed to create perfect visual balance within the product’s clean outline. Beyond the exterior, we also paid close attention to the finish quality of the internal structures. Even when glimpses of internal components are visible during operation, they are designed to appear visually organized and refined.

From Appliances to Spatial Value: Samsung WindFree Air Conditioners and the Pursuit of Sustainable Design

Q. Samsung WindFree air conditioners have become an element that helps complete the overall experience of a space. Looking ahead, where do you see the design heading and what goals would you like to achieve as a designer?

Yuna Park: As AI technology continues to evolve, appliances will become increasingly intelligent. What matters most, however, is not showcasing technology but delivering experiences that feel natural and comfortable to users. Future WindFree designs will continue to soften the mechanical presence of air conditioners and strengthen the sense of stability they bring to the relationship between people and spaces. As a designer, I will continue exploring new materials and design expressions that expand the user’s spatial experience. Ultimately, I want air conditioners to be recognized not simply as machines that manage air, but as distinctive objects that elevate the overall quality of a space.

Sujong Kim: Another important pillar is sustainability. The future direction of CMF[1] design lies in maintaining WindFree’s unique character and design integrity while actively incorporating recycled materials and environmentally conscious finishing processes. We also hope to explore the use of natural materials often found in premium furniture and architectural interiors, such as fabric, wood and stone. Our goal is to create products that feel less like appliances and more like original elements of the architecture itself. I want users to move beyond saying, “This air conditioner has a beautiful design,” and instead feel, “My space — my home — has become more refined because of my WindFree air conditioner.”

Behind the comfort we enjoy every day lies the tireless dedication and thoughtful craftsmanship of designers who continuously refine the technologies that support it. By advancing both performance and design without compromise, Samsung WindFree air conditioners continue to enhance the value of the spaces people create. Having redefined the role of the air conditioner with each generation, WindFree is set to continue its evolution.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. unveiled three new kitchen appliances — the Bespoke AI Single 1Door Fridge & Freezer, Bespoke AI Dishwasher and Extractor Induction Hob[1]. Developed under a design philosophy that prioritizes seamless integration and intelligent performance, the lineup brings enhancements across cooling, cooking, ventilation and dish care.

“With this lineup, we’re strengthening Samsung’s position in the premium kitchen by combining seamless design with purposeful intelligence,” said Hyoung Min Park, VP and Head of the Customer Experience Team for the Digital Appliances (DA) Business at Samsung Electronics. “From AI-driven cooling to adaptive dish care and integrated extraction, these appliances are engineered to respond to real usage patterns, helping people create kitchens that are both refined and responsive.”

Precision Cooling and Seamless Access for Modern Kitchens

Bespoke AI Single 1Door Fridge & Freezer offer flexible options to suit different storage needs. The two units can be used together as a coordinated pair or selected individually to expand refrigeration or freezing capacity as required.

They also emphasize usability and seamless design integration. Auto Open Door provides effortless access with a light touch.[2] A built-in touch sensor enables smooth opening, supported by a sensor light for improved visibility and an alert sound when activated. The refrigerator maintains a seamless, flat-front appearance without a handle that naturally aligns with surrounding cabinetry.

Additionally, the fridge introduces enhanced cooling functionality designed to improve freshness management. AI Precise Cooling on the SmartThings App[3] automatically adjusts the defrost cycle to help maintain consistent internal conditions. The system analyzes usage patterns and schedules defrosting to run when the doors are not opened frequently,[4] helping reduce temperature fluctuations and preserve taste, texture and freshness of food over time.

Further, Metal Cooling independently supports temperature stability by retaining cold air and restoring internal temperatures more quickly after the door is opened. Compared with conventional models that have featured a half-sized metal duct on the rear wall, the new model incorporates a full metal duct design across both the rear wall and the door surface.[5] This expanded structure lowers temperature changes and supports more stable cooling performance.

Energy Efficient Dishwashers With Intelligent Cleaning Performance

The Bespoke AI Dishwasher lineup is designed to address varying energy standards and lifestyle needs across global markets. The range includes A-20%,[6] A-10%,[7] A and even B-Grade models in Europe.[8] For models with the extra energy savings than the Grade A energy rating, an Active Fan Dry system[9] improves drying efficiency by enhancing internal air circulation and lowering rinse water temperature to reduce heating[10] demand.

To accommodate different kitchen layouts, the product is available in Fully Built-In, Free-Standing, Semi Built-In and Built-Under types,[11] supporting both integrated cabinetry environments and more traditional kitchen configurations. This enables flexible deployment according to regional requirements and consumer priorities.

Cleaning performance is driven by AI Wash,[12] which uses a high-resolution turbidity sensor and machine learning algorithm to measure food particles at each stage of the cycle. Based on this analysis, the system automatically adjusts washing and rinsing times to effectively remove stubborn residue — without the need for pre-rinsing.

The upgraded,[13] space-saving 3rd Rack Washing System further enhances flexibility by providing dedicated zones for cutlery, utensils and drinkware. The drinkware section accommodates up to six cups and is supported by six spinning nozzles for targeted spray coverage. This configuration improves loading efficiency and frees up space in other racks,[14] enabling better overall organization.

Durable Surface and High-Efficiency Ventilation in One Integrated Appliance

The Extractor Induction Hob integrates the induction cooktop and extractor hood into a single appliance. This makes it particularly suitable for open-plan kitchens and island installations where installing a conventional hood may be challenging. By capturing steam and odors[15] at the source, it helps maintain cleaner air while preserving the openness of modern kitchen spaces.

Even with cooking and ventilation combined in a single unit, it preserves the distinct performance strengths of both functions. Its cooking surface incorporates Samsung’s Anti-Scratch Glass with a Mohs hardness rating of 8,[16] helping resist visible scratches[17] that arise during everyday use. A superhydrophobic coating reduces residue buildup to support easier cleaning, while the matte finish reinforces a refined, modern aesthetic suited to contemporary interiors.

Beyond surface durability, cooking flexibility is also enhanced by Flex Zone Plus, a wide, open cooking area designed to accommodate multiple or larger cookware at the same time. Featuring denser heating[18] elements for more even heat distribution, it supports a variety of cookware shapes and sizes, including longer or oversized dishes.[19] The surface automatically detects[20] the position and size of cookware to activate heating precisely where needed, helping ensure consistent cooking performance.

Ventilation performance is equally impressive. In Boost mode, suction of up to 720 m³/h[21] effectively captures steam, smoke and odors at the source. Despite its strong airflow capability, the system achieves A+ energy efficiency,[22] balancing performance with energy-conscious operation. By integrating cooking and ventilation into one appliance, the Extractor Induction Hob removes the need for a separate hood and supports a more open, streamlined kitchen layout.

Maintenance is simplified through a dishwasher-safe Easy Clean Grease Filter. The stainless-steel filter[23] delivers A-grade 95% filtration efficiency[24] to capture oil and grease, while an integrated charcoal filter helps reduce odors and gases. Together, these elements sustain consistent ventilation performance with minimal upkeep.

Bringing SW Seven-Year Upgrade and Strengthening the Durability of Core Components 

Q1. What efforts is Samsung making to strengthen user trust in its home appliances?

Home appliances are used over long periods of time, making it crucial that they remain safe and reliable after purchase. This means product design must account not only for how appliances are used today, but also for how users’ lifestyles may evolve in the future.

Samsung is working to enhance the quality and reliability of its AI appliances by leveraging software, hardware and advanced AI technologies. First, Samsung provides software upgrades for smart home appliances, enabling them to continue evolving over time[2]. We are also helping customers use their appliances more reliably and for longer through our Home Appliance Remote Management (HRM)[3] service.

On the hardware side, we use our manufacturing know-how that we’ve built up over half a century and a vigorous verification system to continuously enhance the durability and competitiveness of our compressors and motors — which are “the heart of home appliances.” We also conduct long-term, high-intensity reliability testing to ensure stable performance, even in extreme environments around the globe.

Most recently, Samsung has further enhanced product quality and reliability by incorporating AI capabilities. For example, we use AI in our digital inverter compressor to help save energy while creating optimal cooling. We further apply AI to our HRM service to detect early signs of abnormal operation and proactively notify users.

Upgrading Both Appliance Performance and Security Through AI and Software

Q2. What is Samsung’s software update policy for its home appliances to improve reliability?

Samsung AI appliances are evolving into advanced devices capable of receiving real-time feature upgrades and, through software innovation, resolving certain issues remotely.

Samsung supports software upgrades for up to seven years for its smart home appliances released since 2024. This enables the addition of new convenience features and the latest security technologies to appliances users already own, allowing products to continue evolving over time.

For example, the AI Vision Inside feature on the Family Hub refrigerator has been upgraded this year. AI Vision Inside recognizes food items being put in or taken out of the refrigerator using a camera and creates a food list on the product’s screen, enhancing the convenience of food management. The number of fresh foods recognized has increased to 37, and users can now additionally register and manage up to 50 types of processed and packaged foods.[4]

Q3. Besides the SW updates, are there ways to improve reliability through SW?

Samsung is continuously improving product durability and reliability by providing its HRM service.

Samsung’s HRM is a system that collects and analyzes data from SmartThings-connected appliances in real time. Based on the analysis results, advisors can assess the product’s status and guide customers on the most appropriate actions — or resolve issues by remotely adjusting settings. This allows users to receive professional care without having to describe issues in detail, and in some cases, resolve them quickly without the need for a service engineer visit — saving both time and repair costs[5].

For instance, if a washing machine is not dispensing fabric softener, a consultant can remotely adjust the detergent box mode. If a refrigerator does not feel cool enough due to overstocking, a consultant can remotely set the temperature lower than the minimum available to the users.

Samsung has continued to advance its HRM service by incorporating AI technologies that proactively detect early signs of potential issues and notify users in advance. For example, by analyzing factors such as laundry room and outdoor temperatures, the system can predict frost risks in washing machines and dryers and notify users in advance via smartphone alerts. It can also detect low refrigerant levels in air conditioners and refrigerators early on, helping prevent issues from escalating into major failures.[6]

The Heart of AI Appliances: Innovating Core Components with AI

Q4. From a hardware perspective, what sets Samsung’s appliance quality apart?

Building on its capabilities in AI appliances, Samsung is now dedicated to solidifying its competitive edge in core components by pushing the boundaries of hardware reliability.

Compressors and motors are often called “the heart of home appliances” because they are directly linked to product performance and durability. Since 1976, Samsung has been manufacturing compressors for nearly 50 years, continuously advancing both technology and durability. Today, its eighth-generation compressor incorporates innovations that directly enhance energy efficiency and reliability, including ultra-precision machining to a tolerance of one-tenth the thickness of a human hair (5 μm=0.005 mm), friction-reduction technology, and high-rigidity coatings. For washing machine[7] motors, Samsung applies 3D high-speed balancing technology to ensure stable operation even during spin cycles reaching 270 rotations per second. This significantly reduces vibration and noise.

To ensure seamless performance across diverse environments — from the heat and humidity of Southeast Asia and the Middle East to the extreme cold and heavy snowfall of polar regions — the company conducts rigorous stress testing on core components. Refrigerator compressors undergo extensive testing in a dedicated testing space, including continuous operation for 1,500 hours at 85°C and 500 hours at 100°C, to ensure core component reliability.

In addition, AI is being applied to further strengthen the performance and reliability of these core components. Samsung compressors have evolved from digital inverters to AI digital inverter compressors, which use AI to adjust the operation of the compressor’s internal motor to help save energy and improve durability.

Q5. Going forward, how will Samsung further strengthen the reliability of its home appliances?

We plan to continue enhancing the reliability of our home appliances by strengthening the three pillars of software, hardware and AI. Our ultimate goal is to deliver an excellent user experience throughout the entire product lifecycle, from purchase to long-term use, while continuing to innovate more trustworthy appliances.

On the software side, we are improving the convenience and accuracy of features by combining them with AI. For example, the HRM service is evolving its functions to enable more precise product diagnosis and user support by analyzing product status and error history with AI. Ultimately, with AI, we aim to transform the appliance use and care paradigm from repair to prevention, thereby strengthening reliability.

On the hardware side, we are accelerating innovation focused on core components. We have rapidly transitioned our compressors from fixed-speed designs — where operating speed remains constant — to digital inverter technology, significantly improving energy efficiency and stability. Samsung has driven further transformation with AI Hybrid Cooling, which uses an AI digital inverter compressor in normal situations and gets a Peltier cooling unit to work additionally when intensive cooling is required.

By continuously advancing AI-driven core component technologies and delivering ongoing software upgrades, Samsung plans to continue its efforts to deliver “appliances that remain reliable over time.”
