Kuala Lumpur, 12 March 2019 – While the Galaxy’s 10th Anniversary was celebrated in the high streets of Genting Highlands in March 2019, it was Samsung’s ‘Be Unbeaten’ campaign that brought things to a whole new level – literally. On March 1st 2019, Samsung Malaysia launched 10 units of the new Galaxy S10 80,000 feet up into the sky, and the public was then invited to make an educated guess about where these smartphones would eventually land. Today, the 10 winners have been revealed and they walked home with a brand new Samsung flagship, the Galaxy S10.

“One purpose of this Be Unbeaten campaign was to show the world what the Galaxy S10 is capable of, especially in terms of taking pro-grade photos. Beautiful images of the earth have been taken with the phones and it goes to show that the outstanding camera on the Galaxy S10 can capture and record just about any stunt, even up in space! But the bigger picture we wanted to achieve was to inspire people to realise that they are capable of doing what seems like the impossible. For one, these winners were able to pinpoint the S10 units’ landing spots with unreal accuracy. Congratulations to our winners, we believe that your new smartphone will take you to greater heights and help you do what you can’t!” said Yoonsoo Kim, President of Samsung Malaysia Electronics.

Speaking at the prize-giving ceremony at the conclusion of Samsung’s Be Unbeaten campaign, Ang Li Ern said that although it was an educated guess, she was not expecting to win. “This is my first time ever hearing about this sort of contest. After finding out about it through Jenn Chia’s Instagram story, I spent about 4 hours trying to pinpoint the right landing location using Google Maps,” she said, adding that she will be giving her new Galaxy S10 to her mother, as she is already a happy user of the Galaxy Note9.

Arisha binti Mohd Adnan, another winner of a brand-new Galaxy S10, added that this is by far the greatest prize she has won in an online contest, “I never expected to be one of the winners, so you can imagine my excitement right now. Ever since its launch, I really wanted to be an owner of the new Galaxy S10, which is why I took part in this contest. It took me a couple of hours to come up with my final answer via Google Maps, and I did it on the last day of the contest!” she laughed. “I can’t wait to start using my new phone’s great camera, and I’m really looking forward to trying out the Galaxy Buds too,” the 26-year-old said.

Kuala Lumpur, 1 March 2019 – As far as celebrations go, it can be grand or it can be epic. Samsung Malaysia Electronics chose the latter to unveil the 10th instalment of its Galaxy S series, the Galaxy S10. Revealing its latest pride and glory for the first time at the highest of high streets in SkyAvenue, Genting Highlands, the Galaxy S10 and its variants were greeted by thousands of guests, fans and curious onlookers.

“The past decade has been illustrious for us – we have revolutionised the smartphone landscape by reinventing the device we hold firm in our palms and close to our hearts. We introduced many of the world’s firsts and what was once unimaginable, is now the norm. But we are far from resting on our laurels. Today, you will see that we have created a new standard for all of you who desire and expect more from your mobile companion. The Galaxy S10 is constructed with pragmatic intelligence and crafted to design perfection so people can unlock their potential and experience the world like never before. This is a very special year for us at Samsung because this is our tenth year of relentless innovation to bring you, the people, the next-generation smartphone,” said Yoonsoo Kim, President of Samsung Malaysia Electronics.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Galaxy series, Samsung took celebrations to a higher level by becoming the nation’s first smartphone brand attempting its first-ever flight stunt to the earth’s stratosphere. The precious cargo that is being launched 80,000ft above ground is none other than its newest smartphone, the Galaxy S10. Upon reaching that altitude, the Galaxy S10 is set to take an epic bird’s-eye shot of the earth that is brighter and more dynamic than any video taken on a smartphone – thanks to its pro-grade camera and capability to record videos in HDR10+.

Beyond the celebration, this epic attempt is also intended to demonstrate the Galaxy S10’s outstanding camera capabilities and to interact with the audience in an exciting and engaging manner. Throughout the Galaxy S10’s flight, the audience keeping tabs on-ground can join an online contest to predict where the Galaxy S10 will land by dropping a pin on the mapped locations. The pinned location closest to the Galaxy S10’s landing site will win a brand-new Galaxy S10. Known as “Be Unbeaten”, the contest will run from the launch day of 1st March 2019 until 4th March 2019, so netizens have the weekend to predict the landing site.

“This “Be Unbeaten” stunt is a reflection of our vision in Samsung – how we are constantly innovating to break boundaries and striving to reach greater heights. Globally, this is Samsung’s inaugural attempt and we at Samsung Malaysia are proud to be the first market in the world to attempt it. We will be propelling ten units to the stratosphere, so ten of the most accurate forecasters will win our brand new Galaxy S10. This is one epic contest you may just want to participate in!” added Kim.
