Samsung expands The Wall 2022 lineup with the addition of the IAB and IWB Series, which deliver unparalleled visuals.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. launched two new series of The Wall – Samsung’s cutting-edge Micro LED displays – in the Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO) region at the inaugural Samsung Display Tech Summit 2022.

Held in Bangkok, Thailand, the Summit hosted some 230 enterprise customers, tech enthusiasts and pro audio-visual partners from across the region over two days to share the latest insights and first-hand experiences on Samsung’s next-generation commercial displays and solutions.

Creating Immersive Customer Experiences with The Wall

Perched at the pinnacle of display technology, Micro LED technology offers immersive viewing experiences in a high-resolution and large screen format, creating premium customer engagements for brands.

In 2018, Samsung, a pioneer in Micro LED displays, launched The Wall, which was then the world’s first consumer modular Micro LED 146-inch display. Since its launch, The Wall has been deployed to provide customer premium experiences globally, including in this region. In Bangkok, The Wall enables The Forestias by MQDC^[1], Thailand’s biggest property development project, to present a one-of-a-kind 360-degree cinematic experience to inspire its customers.

Launched in the SEAO region at the Summit, The Wall All-in-One, also called the IAB Series, brings the ease of Micro LED installation to the next level. The IAB Series requires only two hours for two people to install as it comes with a pre-adjusted seam and pre-assembled frame kit, which includes an embedded media play S-box. The Wall All-in-One has a display thinness of just 49mm and is available in three models: 4K 146-inch, 2K 146-inch and 2K 110-inch.

Also unveiled at the Summit is The Wall IWB Series, which is available in 0.63 and 0.94 pixel pitches. At 0.63 pixel pitch, this model is the slimmest ever pixel pitch in The Wall lineup, delivering Samsung’s most detailed picture and dynamic range expansion with the screen’s 120Hz frame rate, HDR10/10+ and LED HDR. The Wall IWB Series also provides a variety of screen sizes, accommodating 4K movies for 110-inch and up to incredible 8K quality for 220-inch.

All models in The Wall lineup feature Black Seal technology, enabling purer black levels with enhanced depth and details; Ultra Chroma technology, where narrower wavelengths produce RGB colors two times purer^[2] and more accurate than conventional LEDs; 20bit processing to present extraordinary contrast ratio and smooth, natural tonal gradients; and Micro AI Processor to enhance image contrast while removing noise instantly.

The Wall also features Multi View, which enables simultaneous playback of content from up to 4 sources on one screen without the need for a video splitter.

Visualizing Productivity and Collaboration in the Hybrid World

In addition to launching the new 2022 models of The Wall, Samsung also showcased its latest display solutions at the Summit that are relevant to new modes of work, study and play in the hybrid era. These include:

• New World of Learning and Meeting: Classrooms and meeting spaces in the hybrid world require display solutions that are seamlessly connected, easy to use, immersive while allowing multiple users to collaborate at the same time. The new 2022 Samsung Flip Pro, available in 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch and 85-inch models, is perfect for students and professionals to enable high-quality collaboration with real-world writing and drawing experiences with pen and brush modes, integrated video call apps, multiple connectivity and wireless screen sharing.

• New World of Content Creation: The new Samsung ViewFinity S8, a high-resolution monitor for content creators, is available in consumer popular sizes of 27-inch and 32-inch for creating impactful content such as graphic design or detailed financial charts in the office or at home. Its pro-grade UHD resolution carries a wide color gamut up to 98% of DCI-PS and VESA DisplayHDR^[3] for optimal range, accuracy and nuance. Notably, the ViewFinity S8 received ‘PANTONE Validated’^[4] recognition for ability to accurate reproduction of more than 2,000 colors and newly added 110 skin tone shades from PANTONE.^[5]

• New World of Gaming Experiences: Odyssey Ark is the world’s first 55-inch 1000R curved gaming monitor. This next-generational 4K gaming display features a 165Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time and a Cockpit mode to create a whole new immersive and personal gaming theatre for competitive and casual gamers alike. This ultimate gaming monitor also comes with the Ark Dial, which is a solar-powered controller built to give the player quick access to screen functions such as Flex Move Screen, Multi View and Quick Settings.

Sustainability by Design

At the Summit, Samsung reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by designing and building display solutions that can reduce carbon footprint, as well as contribute to resource circulation.

Its new 2022 display solutions have all received ENERGY STAR and EPEAT energy efficiency certifications. Certified by Carbon Trust, Samsung has incorporated eco-packaging in its products, with recycled materials used in all display solutions since 2021. Samsung has also developed and applied a new material made from recycled ocean-bound plastics to manufacture the ViewFinity S8. This has helped to reduce marine waste as well as carbon footprint.

2022 The Wall – Introducing the Slimmest Ever Pixel Pitch

At ISE this year, Samsung will unveil its 2022 model of The Wall (Model name: IWB) – an innovative modular Micro LED display that delivers immersive viewing experiences in a high-resolution, large screen format. The IWB will be available in 0.63 and 0.94pixel pitches, with 0.63 being the slimmest ever pixel pitch in The Wall lineup. The new display is now available to preorder globally.

The micro pitch feature of the IWB demonstrates Samsung’s most detailed picture and dynamic range expansion with the screen’s 120Hz frame rate, HDR10/10+ and LED HDR. Following installation, The Wall provides a variety of screen sizes, accommodating 4K movies for 110-inch and up to incredible 8K quality for 220-inch to meet any consumer or business needs. This resolution capability is enhanced by the powerful Micro AI (Artificial Intelligence) Processor, which analyzes every second of content instantly and optimizes picture quality while removing noise.

The overall size of the cabinets has been increased, allowing businesses and consumers to install only four cabinets to configure the UHD screen, meaning faster and more cost-efficient operation. The display’s improved cabinet strengthens the large, high-resolution screens and improves the mechanical quality for immersive viewing while enhancing seam adjustment. In fact, the installation time has been reduced offering significant benefits to businesses compared to conventional LED signage.

The Wall is also packed with industry-leading technology. Firstly, with Multi View, The Wall enables simultaneous multi-source playback from up to four sources, all on one screen, without any additional splitter required for dynamic content display. Secondly, Black Seal Technology built into the display creates a seamless canvas for purer black levels, with an ultra-low reflective film that has been applied to minimize external light reflection. Plus, with 20-bit processing, The Wall delivers outstanding image quality and a smooth viewing experience, supported by a peak of 2,000 nits providing clearer images.

The Wall All-in-One – Innovative and Convenient Installation

Also being unveiled in Barcelona this year, is The Wall All-in-One (Model name: IAB) available in three different models: 4K 146-inch, 2K 146-inch and 2K 110-inch. This incredible, next generation display brings innovation to the installation, not just the viewing experience. The standard resolution of The Wall All-in-One is a 16:9 form factor. The product, which is only sold by screen, will be available globally following ISE 2022.

The most innovative feature of The Wall All-in-One is the convenient installation that features a pre-adjusted seam and a ‘Pre-Assembled Frame Kit.’ This kit, which makes the whole process simple as a consumer TV, includes the 16:9 form factor display’s internalized deco bezel and an embedded media player S-box, also lowering the total cost of ownership.

The Wall All-in-One offers a sleek design with display thinness of just 49mm, which is ultimately 59mm in total installation when measured from wall to screen. This slim, bezel-less infinity design provides a direct input connection on the screen without a separate device – creating a clean and convenient setup.

Additionally, together with 20-bit processing, Black Seal technology and Micro AI Processor, two 4K 146-inch screens can be installed side by side to create a 32:9 form factor model with a detachable feature creating an entire wall of outstanding image quality.

Versatile Display Lineup Adapting to a New Era – From EV Charging Station to Hybrid Classroom

Along with industry-leading Micro LED technology, Samsung is showcasing various new display products at ISE that will meet the constantly evolving needs of this new era. The new lineup will exemplify Samsung’s ongoing innovation in building solutions that include the likes of contactless communication and enhanced safety features.

Samsung’s latest 2022 outdoor line-up (Model Name: OHA 55’’, 75’’) has been verified for outdoor visibility by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), while the slim composition enables easy installation and long-term performance through certified IP56-rated protection. With its durable and high-performing hardware, the OHA can perform in a variety of conditions. One use case is electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, which are increasing in demand as the sales of electric vehicles continue to rise worldwide.

In education, Samsung continues to deliver hybrid learning experiences with its innovative product and solutions. The new 2022 Samsung Flip Pro (Model Name: WMB), available in two large 75- and 85-inch models, is an interactive whiteboard that can provide both teachers and students, with enhanced usability and specialized features to meet ever-changing education needs.

Samsung Flip Pro’s newly added USB Type-C connectivity provides integrated video control and power (65W charging), while industry-leading touch latency and multi touch features allow simultaneous collaboration for up to 20 people[1]. The newly added intuitive control panel, brightness control sensors, and the four front- and rear-facing speakers enhance the overall classroom experience and enable seamless video communication in a remote or hybrid classroom environment. Lastly, with SmartView+, up to 50 devices can be simultaneously connected to the display wirelessly, in addition to enabling multi-view on up to four screens, ideal for larger meeting rooms as well as digitized classrooms. The technology works seamlessly in the background making the product easy to use by teachers and students alike.

A new Micro AI Processor instantly analyzes and optimizes every frame of the video to deliver the best picture quality possible. By using up to 16 different neural network models, each trained in AI upscaling and deep learning technology, the Micro AI Processor can optimize picture quality up to 8K resolution, enhancing contrast and removing noise.

The Wall’s Black Seal Technology blankets the screen with perfect uniformity, creating a seamless canvas for purer black levels with enhanced depth delivering unparalleled contrast and immaculate detail. With 1,600 nits peak brightness, The Wall provides clear images that stand out even in bright room environments. Ultra Chroma technology produces narrower wavelengths that create RGB colors twice as pure¹ and more accurate than conventional LEDs. Each LED is now up to 40% smaller,² increasing the pure black space between pixels for enhanced color uniformity and higher picture contrast.

This year’s model is easier to install thanks to new wireless docking connections and a bezel-less design, resulting in a cabinet depth half as deep as before.³ With modular technology, The 2021 The Wall can be installed in a variety of positions, including concave, convex, ceiling, hanging, inclined and L-type. In addition, users only need to adjust once per cabinet with Factory Seam Adjustment, eliminating module-by-module adjustment and saving time.

The 2021 model offers its most detailed picture yet with the industry’s first 8K resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate and Simple 8K playback. The Wall can be configured horizontally for up to 16K resolution with a 15,360 x 2,160-pixel arrangement.⁴ Its massive screen measures in at over 1,000 inches, creating a completely expansive canvas for showcasing content.

The Wall comes built with Micro HDR and Micro Motion features, featuring 20-bit processing to deliver a consistent picture quality that is suitable across commercial environments for a smooth viewing experience regardless of location. The screen also includes four picture-by-picture screens (PBP), allowing for four different content sources, all of which can be displayed simultaneously in 4K resolution. The 4-PBP function can be used for business purposes where multi-screens are needed.

All of The Wall’s features are delivered with safety top of mind. TÜV Rheinland awarded its Eye Comfort Certification for minimized blue light emission, while its EMC Class B certification minimizes electromagnetic waves for safe installation in homes.
